A Verse For You
The verse I wrote last night
Is the same I wrote this morning
About my love for you
Rainy days are your tears
Sunshine is your brilliant smile
Everything I see of nature
Reminds me of you
Primrose and roses I can’t escape
The meadow where horses graze
And the morning mist
And the clearing in the woods
Where rabbits frolic
And in the undergrowth so full of
Juicy mushrooms.
And the all seeing eagle flying high.
They are all you my beloved
And your name is … hang on a bit
In all my lyrical prose
I have forgotten your name.

Lost poem
It was on this page, then gone
Like feathers blowing in the wind.
Where is the prose I wrote?
Not a letter is in sight.
I am looking with all my might.
Oh where is the prose I wrote?
Today I wrote a new poem,
Was it lost in cyberspace?
I hope not for I might not know it,
Even staring at me in the face.
Give me a break, my memories are at stake.
Oh where is the prose I wrote?
They Call It Gentle and Smile

That is morning

That is evening
I wrote a poem
That is love
You wrote a poem on your lips
They fondly call it gentle and smile

Dear John
(vocals by john prine)
When i woke up this morning
There was a note upon my door
Saying " don't make me no coffee, babe
Cause i won't be back no more"
And that's all she wrote
"dear john", i sent your saddle home"
Now jonah got along in the belly of a whale
Daniel in the lion's den
I know a guy that didn't try to get along
And he won't get a chance again
That's all she wrote
"dear john", i sent your saddle home"
She didn't forward no address
No she never said goodbye
All she said was "if you get blue
Just hang your little head and cry"
That's all she wrote
"dear john", i sent your saddle home"
Now my gal's short and stubby
She's mean as she can be
If that little old gal of mine
Ever gets a hold of me
That's all she wrote
"dear john", i fetched your saddle home"
Went down to the bank this morning
The cashier said with a grin
I'm sorry for you little john
But your wife has done been in
That's all she wrote
"dear john", i sent your saddle home"
That's all she wrote
"dear john", i sent your saddle home

Eighteenth-Nineteenth Century Verse
France is the country of poems and prose
the lovely French language tells us so.
Romantic love in classical verse
dates back to Voltaire from days long ago.
The 18th century brought poets from Paris
writing about France and the Seine,
and so many other Parisian wonders
that lie in that fertile plain.
Yes France was a country of talent
In England, Wordsworth stole the scene
whilst Coleridge, another fine English poet
wrote lyrical verse about Pastures Green.

Martha
Operator number please.
Its been so many years.
And shell remember my old voice.
While I fight the tears.
Hello, hello there is this martha?
This is old tom frost.
And I am calling long distance.
Dont worry about the cost.
Its been 40 years or more.
Now martha please recall.
And meet me out for coffee.
Where well talk about it all.
And those were days of roses.
Poetry and prose and martha.
And all I had was you and all you had was me.
And there was no tomorrows.
As we packed away our sorrows.
And we saved it for a rainy day.
And I feel so much older now.
And youre much older too.
Oh hows the husband hows the kids?
You know that I got married too!
Oh lucky that ya found someone.
To make ya feel secure.
Oh cause we were all so young and foolish.
And now we are mature.
And those were days of roses.
Poetry and prose and martha.
And all I had was you and all you had was me.
And there was no tomorrows.
As we packed away our sorrows.
And we saved it for a rainy day.
And I was so implusive.
I guess that I still am.
But all that really mattered then.
Was that I was a man.
I guess that our being together.
Was never meant to be.
Oh but martha, martha I love you.
Cant you see.
And those were days of roses.
Poetry and prose and martha.
And all I had was you and all you had was me.
And there was no tomorrows.
As we packed away our sorrows.
And we saved it for a rainy day.
And I remember quiet evenings.
Trembling close to you.

The poem
I wrote a poem that didn't
ryhme,
i wrote a poem that didn't ryhme to the one I love,
i wrote a poem that didn't ryhme to the one I love
more than life,
i wrote a poem that didn't ryhme to the one I love more than life,
of which she did more than like,
the poem was short,
repeated myself alot,
but the one I loved more than life,
felt that love is like the poem I wrote,
full of joy and full of hurt,
the poem I wrote when I was full of hype,
coz the one I loved more than life is the one that now fills in my life all gaps,
the one that brings me up when am down,
a smile on my face from a frown,
music to my ears when we talk,
love in my heart when I'm near,
i wrote a poem that didn't ryhme for the one I love more than life.

Two schools of thought.
.
The lady chose to take offence
Although I said she wrote fine prose
She may not know the difference
between poetry and prose
She thought that she wrote poetry
But what she wrote was free form prose.
I offered no apology
It was not my fault that she chose.
Not to learn the basic rules
defining prose and poetry
Two very different writing schools
in which to show your artistry.
The so called experts can’t agree
and coined the term poetic prose.
Though writing cannot possible
be classed as poetry and prose.
If it’s not metered it is prose
no matter how poetical.
But you’re entitled to compose.
Fine prose and call it poetry.
Though I suggest respectfully
you should be proud of writing prose.
As some do most successfully.
But it was poetry I chose

In The Day's When We Are Dead
Listen! The end draws nearer,
Nearer the morning—or night—
And I see with a vision clearer
That the beginning was right!
These shall be words to remember
When all has been done and said,
And my fame is a dying ember
In the days when I am dead.
Listen! We wrote in sorrow,
And we wrote by candle light;
We took no heed of the morrow,
And I think that we were right—
(To-morrow, but not the day after,
And I think that we were right).
We wrote of a world that was human
And we wrote of blood that was red,
For a child, or a man, or a woman—
Remember when we are dead.
Listen! We wrote not for money,
And listen! We wrote not for fame—
We wrote for the milk and the honey
Of Kindness, and not for a name.
We paused not, nor faltered for any,
Though many fell back where we led;
We wrote of the few for the many—
Remember when we are dead.
We suffered as few men suffer,
Yet laughed as few men laugh;
We grin as the road grows rougher,
And a bitterer cup we quaff.
We lived for Right and for Laughter,
And we fought for a Nation ahead—
Remember it, friends, hereafter,
In the years when I am dead—
For to-morrow and not the day after,
For ourselves, and a Nation ahead.

Morning
(nana cayammi / gilberto gil / norma tanega)
The morning it is sad
The morning so beautiful
The sunshine it is sad
The sunshine no friend of mine
You awake
It is day
As you go from me away
The morning it is sad
The morning so beautiful
So, alone I will stay
The daylight takes you away
So I wait til good night
Begins to end the daylight
The daytime, the daybreak
The dawning
Come away, until day
Come away with me my love
Come away, until day
Come away and sing the night
The morning it is sad
The morning so beautiful
The sunshine it is sad
The sunshine no friend of mine
You awake it is day
As you go from me away
The morning it is sad
The morning so beautiful

You Came To Me In Serenity (Rondeau Redouble)
You came to me in serenity as someone beautiful and gay,
that morning was hot full of sunshine and bright
and all my fears and tears were swept away
while you stayed right through the night.
You were happy, and it was sheer magic despite
the stupid things that I did at times say,
before we laid next to the glowing firelight.
You came to me in serenity as someone beautiful and gay,
where we looked at the wind on the lake in rippling circles play
while the waves were very tiny and without might
on a tranquil, calm awesome day,
that morning was hot full of sunshine and bright
with doves fluttering in their cooing flight
and in the sky there was nothing black or grey,
only the sparkling bluest sight
and all my fears and tears were swept away.
When a storm had risen with foaming spray,
with gigantic waves crushing threatening and white,
something special happened on a rainy winter day in May
while you stayed right through the night.
My love here now I give you my plight,
that even if from me you do stray
if you somehow run away in fright
I will still remember and say:
you came to me in serenity.

The Morning Sunshine
Wait til the morning sunshine
Wait til the morning sunshine
Feels like another day, I wouldnt know
My loves away, from home today
Wait til the morning sunshine
Wait til the morning sunshine
Its just the memory, of sunshine
In the morning, being close to me
And it was.....
Wait til the morning sunshine
Wait til the morning sunshine
Seems like the world is late, for I cant wait
For sunshine in the morning
Wait til the morning sunshine
Wait til the morning sunshine

No More
I wrote my name on the seashore
The waves came and it was no more
I wrote my name in the air
The wind came and it was no more
I wrote my name in the sky
The clouds came and it was no more
I wrote my name in the puddles
The sun came and it was no more
i wrote my name in the dust
The rain came and it was no more
One day Gabriel wrote my name
and alas! i was no more

In An Awe of A Brilliant Morning
Under the tropic of laden sky
It casts a brilliant morning
With tassels of raindrops
Dancing with the wind
On a soulful song of a voiceless mind
Came from a jaded night to a rainbow
On her reflection
Through the window
Trickles of rain tussling right… down
From her eyes, and yet too humble
For yesterday, it came for a reason
In rouse of a morose heart to smile
With the sun, as it rises high
In an awe of brilliant morning
Like diamonds…bright
On her reflection
To her finger! An Empty finger!
She smiled, a very darling smile
And said, “Michael Keith Jude,
… I love you with all my heart! ”

Hey There Beloved
Hey there beloved why are you walking away from me?
Hey there beloved don't you know all those gifts are from me?
Hey there beloved I carried you through your storms
Hey there beloved come back to me
Hey there beloved don't you know I'm waiting with open arms
Hey there beloved I wish you were not blind but could turn back and see
Hey there beloved don't you notice my art?
Hey there beloved my love for you is in every night sky
Hey there beloved look for my love in the sunset
Hey there beloved, the sun is for you
Hey there beloved the coolness of clouds is for your enjoyment
Hey there beloved I love you
Hey there beloved You can walk away
Hey there beloved it makes me cry when you chase other lovers, but
Hey there beloved I'll let you go because I want you to choose me
Hey there beloved I want you to learn to love me
Hey there beloved don't go to them
Hey there beloved they cannot fill you up
Hey there beloved, I'll never give up on you
Hey there beloved I'm full of tears
Hey there beloved I made you for so much more
Hey there beloved you don't have to dress like that
Hey there beloved they don't really love you
Hey there beloved you're more than just a body
Hey there beloved you don't have to try to be something you're not
Hey there beloved I still love you
Hey there beloved you don't have to earn my love
Hey there beloved those things won't satisfy you
Hey there beloved heed my voice that path will destroy you
Hey there beloved you're broken, but
Hey there beloved my heart breaks for you
Hey there beloved can't you see the brokenness?
Hey there beloved why do you ignore me
Hey there beloved.... I love you with all that I am
Hey there beloved, that's everything there is
Hey there beloved I love you with my entire being
Hey there beloved that's grander than the universe itself
Hey there beloved you've strayed so far away
Hey there beloved I'll always call you back
Hey there beloved I'll always be waiting
Hey there beloved I still love y-
Hey there beloved h--
Hey there be-----

Good morning my love
The skies are clearing up today
Can I kiss you on the boob like I did yesterday?
You let me in, you let me sin
You made me cry, you got me high
Can I touch you in the nude?
You lookin really good in bed
How come you aint talkin like we was yesterday?
You let me in, you let me sin
You made me cry, you got me high
Wake up little wakeup
Got somethin to say
Dont move a muscle
Im gettin dressed and I cant stay
Ohh, you let me in, you let me sin
You made me cry, you got me high
You let me in, you got me high,
Got me high, got me high, high, high
Good morning love,
Good morning my love

The Morning After
A kasha/j hirschorn
Theres got to be a morning after, if we can hold on through the night
We have a chance to find the sunshine lets keep on looking for the light
Oh cant you see the morning after? its waiting right outside the storm
Why dont we cross the bridge together and find a place thats safe and warm?
Its not too late, we should be giving, only with love can we we climb
Its not too late, not while were living, lets put our hands out in time
Theres got be a morning after, were moving closer to the shore
I know well be there by tomorrow and well escape the darkeness
We wont be searching anymore
Theres got be a morning after, were moving closer to the shore
I know well be there by tomorrow and well escape the darkeness
We wont be searching anymore
Theres got be a morning after
Theres got be a morning after
Theres got be a morning after

Poet's Thirst
Why do I thirst to pen a verse?
Would prose not do as well?
The rhyme is music to my ears
and the lyrical swell
can never be found in prose
and so I say to those.
'Write your story in novel form
or fictionalize your book.
I will pen my verse instead
and capture you with my hook.'

She Was The Morning And I Was The Night
She was the morning and I was the night
She was the cloudy morning and I was the rainy night
She was the foggy morning and I was the bright night with all the stars Shining in the sky
She was the cold winter morning and I was the stormy night
She was the bright sunny morning and I was the peaceful night
