I've lost a delicate cameo

'I've lost a delicate cameo,
Somewhere on the Neva's shore.
I pity the charming Roman girl,'
You said to me, almost in tears.

But why, fair Georgian beauty,
Stir up the dust on a sacred tomb?
Another downy snowflake
Melted on her eyelid's fan.

You bowed your gentle neck.
Alas, no cameo, no Roman girl.
I pity the tawny Tinotine -- virgin
Rome on the Neva's shore.

U Brighten Up My Life

1st verse:
Hopin for the sun one rainy day
Wishin that the rain would go away
So many tears pouring down on me
You wrapped your arms around me
You engaged me in the dance
2nd verse:
Hopin for this love to come my way
Lonely was the price I had to pay
I stood all alone and waited
For my prince to make me his lady
And you gave this love a chance
Chorus:
I havent seen the rain or cloudy skies , since I found you
I havent seen a tear fall from my eye , since I found you
Im never home alone at night , since I found you
I hope you never leave my side
You brighten up my life
3rd verse:
Ive waited for so long
For someone like you
And finally my dreams
Are coming true
We have the chance
Lets take it
And if we only try
We can make it
In this fairy tale romance
(chorus) (vamp bgs)
Neva - neva - see the rain outside
Neva - neva - see a tear in my eye
Neva - neva - home alone at night

When In Rome

Well, you must be from the city
'Cause you sure ain't from round here
There ain't no smoke free section
We don't sell no import beer.
You been throwin' round that attitude
Since you walked in that door
I don't know where you come from
But you ain't there anymore
When in Rome,
You can do like the Roman's
But, when your down home
You better do like us.
You been lookin' down your nose
At our water tower town
Ain't no one getting rich
But, there's enough to go around.
If ya don't like tracy's cookin'
Well, ya best still leave a tip
She's back there in that kitchen
With a baby on her hip.
When in Rome,
You can do like the Roman's
But, when your down home
You better do like us.
You put your best foot forward
When you go to meet a man
Look him in the eye
And put a good grip on his hand.
Don't cuss around the ladies
Tell us how to raise our kids
We like doing business
Like our daddys, daddys did.
When you drive off in your beamer
If ya don't do 35
Don't give no lip to Beuford
Or he might just dot your eye.
And when your at the courthouse
Before Ole judge McCall
You best not say a word
About them comandments on his wall.
Naw!
When in Rome,
You can do like the Roman's
But when your down home
You better do like us.
Yeah, Yeah Yeah
When in Rome,
You can do like the Roman's
But when your down home
You better do like us.
Mmmm Hmmmm
Better do like us boy
Don't you come in here talking all that trash
Ya just might get your nose smashed.
When in Rome,
You can do like the Roman's...

Roman Polanski: What is There to Debate? Whether Rape is Rape-Rape?

I know he is great director.
I know that he had great stresses in his life from childhood on.
I know that he had won countless awards for his cinema, his ‘magic’ and his craft.
I know that Roman Polanski is a statutory rape predator.
I know that there was something in his psyche that little girls had done.
I know what rape means, it is control, and it’s been 32 years ago,
- he had control or am I daft.
She said “No, no, I want to go home”
“It’s been so long ago”, his fans do say.
It is sort of like meth head saying,
“I promised you $400 for that guitar I bought you from last year,
But not in future and not today.”
And the infamous Bill Clinton line
-'It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. “
That one still confounds me still to this day.
(But not as much as Caitlin Upton’s response when she was asked a question in a pageant about geography I do recall.)
Roman Polanski is a fugitive from the law.

I know that Roman Polanski is a statutory rape predator

The French blame the US level of justice.
Roman elected to live in the US not France,
Do in Rome what the Romans do.
And if you ‘play’ you have to pay.
And if by chance,
You run afoul of the country’s law pity the fool.
His next stop is a prison cell door.
Especially, when you are a 40+ year old man taking advantage of a 13 year old girl.

I know that Roman Polanski is a statutory rape predator.

Roman Polanski gave her alcohol and Quaaludes,
Consensual sex, hardly it behooves the point,
Someone should lock him up for the next 32 years in the joint.
Roman’s violation of the law is not only against her,
But it is a violation against the People of California,
And consequently, the People of the United States.

I know that Roman Polanski is a statutory rape predator.

If Roman Polanski is not extradited,
- then a part of millennia of common moral law is about to fail.
If Roman Polanski is extradited he will not go free on bail.
If he were Marc Rich and President Clinton was in power,
And if Roman Polanski gave serious money to Clinton’s Library,
Roman, like Marc Rich, could be pardoned, exonerated-either or.
Roman should pay for his abuse of a child whatever years ago,
She quite older now but the state doesn’t forget.
Especially when his lawyers instigated the recent events,
-that too do they would soon regret.
But when its all said and done,

I know that Roman Polanski is a statutory rape predator.

Pity, pity, pity

Look at to the unwanted child
Look at to the divorced wife
Look at to the homeless man
What people do other than saying
“Pity, pity, pity”

Look at to the tragic hero
Look at to the sympathized villain
Look at to the clueless victim
What witnesses do other than staring
“Pity, pity, pity”

Look at to the crazy dreamer
Look at to the unlucky gambler
Look at to the stubborn fighter
What friends do other than whispering
“Pity, pity, pity”

Look at to the withering flower
Look at to the starving animal
Look at to the extinct nature
What human do other than howling
“Pity, pity, pity”

Look at to the empty spaces
Look at to the blank faces
Look at to the lost traces
What devils do other than laughing
“Pity, pity, pity”

Love, I Want

The girl who has lost in wilderness
I do not have her company.
The girl who is a nightingale
I do not have her symphony.
The girl who is a dazzling beauty
I do not have her pity.
The girl who has oozing grace and youth
I have not enjoyed both.
The girl who has dark and deep eyes
I do not have its amorous sighs.
The girl who always wears a lovely smile,
The girl who follows a different style,
I am anxious to get her favour,
I want to be her one and only lover.
The girl who is callous and ruthless,
She offers and I get severe pain.
The girl who is wanton and betrayer,
She offers love and I cannot share.
Love does not come the way I want,
Rather it comes and gives heart-burnt.

Mpho She Was Named

Let me take u tru the story of a girl called Mpho
Lost both her parents in a car accident
An Angel beautiful, smart kind and decent
But her ordeal started when she moved in with her uncle
She neva thot life cant be much harsher
Cos all he eva did was rape and abuse her
She needed a way out an escape tunnel
Lifted herself up ran away
found herself in jozi the concrete jungle
A lonely soul in hell, she knew no one
She needed cash met a girl
Who told her the fast way to get wud be for her to sell her flesh
For Mpho it was neva an option so she started doing promotions
She couldn’t even pay her rent or let alone save a cent
The tragedy of her life was soon to manifest
One night out she decided to seduce a man
Starting to realize that reality needed her to have a plan
Slept with the man, tears dripping down her face
she thot she cud handle the pain
Feeling his thrust in her again and again
In the morning she felt selfless and used
How much different was this from the time she was raped and abused
Her dignity was demolished and her morals just vanished
She cried harder then the day both her parents perished
Saw her life vanquished along with her goals
She was just a living corpse all hallow with no soul
At first it hurt she cud not face herself in the mirror
But the more money she got the more she felt superior
Is this the same girl who dreamt of being a positive public figure?
Dat angel had sold her soul to the devil
Not to different from the day satan walked out of heaven
Lived her life, like she was a true rebel
But the only person she was killing was herself
She fell pregnant and didn’t know what to do
Neva wanted to abort and neva wanted to keep it to
Drinking everyday hoping that she will miss carry
Not being able to sleep
Hearing mama’s voice say the man who makes u pregnant
shud be the one u wanna marry

Break My Stride

Last night I had the strangest dream,
I sailed away to China, in a little row boat to find ya,
and you said you had to get your laundry clean.
Didn't want no one to hold ya, what does that mean? And you said...
(chorus)
Ain't nothin' gonna break my break my stride,
nobody's gonna slow me down, oh no,
I've got to keep on movin'.
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride,
I'm never gonna walk such ground, oh no,
I've got to keep on movin'.
You're on the road and now you're plain as gone,
The road behind was rocky, but now you're feelin' cocky.
You look at me and you see your past.
Is that the reason why you're runnin' so fast? And you said...
(chorus)
(neva neva 'nother guy like you)
Work me over...
(neva neva 'nother guy like you)
Drag me under...
(if i need another guy like you)
I would tell him...
(never want another guy like you)
Have to say...
HEY!
(chorus)(2x)
I've got to keep on movin' movin' movin' movi-in' oh oh
I've got to keep on movin
chorus repeats 'till fade....

Get Up Off That Pity Pot

Why don't you,
Get up off that pity pot...
You've sat on quite a lot.
Why don't you get up off that pot.
Why don't you get up off that pot.
Why don't you,
Get up off that pity pot...
You've sat on quite a lot.
Why don't you get up off that pot.
Why don't you get up off that pot.

No need to keep weeping tears,
That long ago overflowed.
Why don't you,
Get up off that pity pot...
You've sat on quite a lot.

Holding onto woes,
Have eroded your motives.
Get up off that pity pot...
You've sat on quite a lot.
So wipe your eyes to dry,
And realize...
You are not alone.
You're not alone.
You are not alone.
You're not alone.
Get up!
Off your butt!

And realize...
You are not alone.
You're not alone.
You are not alone.
You're not alone.
Get up!

Get up off that pity pot...
You've sat on quite a lot.
You need to get up off that pot.
Why don't you get up off that pot.
Why don't you,
Get up off that pity pot...
You've sat on quite a lot.
You need to get up off that pot.
Why don't you get up off that pot,
And stop those woes to drop.

Don’t Pity Me

I can stand on my own two feet
Spare me the reminder that I came from those lonely streets
Which made me cold as I grew old
Don’t pity me, no don’t pity me at all
I did what was necessary to survive
Build my dreams on hard concrete
Fed myself dust until I couldn’t eat
Why pity me, why pity me at all
Now that I am full, I can use the energy
To do what you could have done
Saved me instead of feeling sorry
Because you pity me, and you pity me until I was no more
So the next time you look down and see me
Remember this, it could have been you not me.

Sorry Little Girl

SORRY LITTLE GIRL THAT YOU CRY

SORRY LITTLE GIRL THAT HE WENT AWAY

SORRY LITTLE GIRL YOU CARRY SO MUCH PAIN

SORRY LITTLE GIRL IT DIDN'T WORK OUT YOUR WAY

SORRY LITTLE GIRL YOU WILL SEE HIM SOMEDAY

SORRY LITTLE GIRL FOR YOUR TEARS

SORRY LITTLE GIRL I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE

SORRY LITTLE GIRL I LOST MY MIND

SORRY LITTLE GIRL I'M NOT THE ONE YOU CAN LEAN ON

SORRY LITTLE GIRL I CRY TOO

SORRY LITTLE GIRL I CAN'T TAKE BACK THAT DAY

YOU KNOW I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR YOU

SORRY LITTLE GIRL I COULDN'T WAKE HIM UP, LIKE YOU ASK ME TO

LITTLE GIRL HE LOVES YOU AND YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE

LITTLE GIRL JUST LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER HE IS RIGHT BEHIND YOU

LITTLE GIRL PLEASE DON'T CRY ANYMORE

IT MAKES ME SAD TO SEE YOU IN SO MUCH PAIN, I WISH YOU WERE STILL FOUR WHEN A KISS WOULD STILL FIX EVERYTHING

In Memoriam: Anna Akhmatova, poet

Last Spring I stood
in front of the bronze statue
they’ve put up in your honour
on the banks of the Neva
not far from the prison's red wall
just as, half in jest, you requested it,
never expecting this...

the thaw had just started
and a white snow crystal, already half transparent,
melted in the corner of your bronze eye
as if it were a tear

I watched it slide down Spring's warming bronze,
down past your name on the base,
across the trodden snow of the pavement,
into the Neva whose memory is time itself,
and as it joined the river's flow of breaking, creaking ice and snow
the sunlight caught it, briefly.

The next day
I walked to your dacha in the woods
as the first light rain of Spring
gently washed the birch saplings
and the brown leaves of last autumn now revealed
made a silent carpet for my feet;
and the pale sunlight
caught a raindrop, briefly.

In some future Spring
a poet’s tears fall as gentle rain.

Purple... Purple

Purple... Purple;
Such a beautiful
Color-
You wore it with clever
Intentions to lull her.
Purple... Purple;
You knew it was my favorite.
Purple... Purple;
You'd chuckle as you'd brave it.

Ever... Ever;
You promised
Your heart-
She charmed and disarmed you
Before you could start.
Ever... Ever;
You'd drown in your tears.
Ever... Ever;
Though she'd fade with years.

Smiling... Smiling;
I'd never
Forget-
That smile above that purple
Before you'd regret.
Smiling... Smiling;
You'd smile for her.
Smiling... Smiling;
Dying, though you were.

Never... Never;
I left with
No pause-
Your wallowing sickness gave me
Plenty cause.
Never... Never;
You seem far away.
Never... Never;
Despite what you'd say.

Pity... Pity;
I lost all
For you-
Pity... Pity;
What one girl
Can do.

That Pity B-Gone!

Let that pity b-gone!
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.
That pity b-gone.
And also going are those benefits.
If you carry on...
Like you can't handle it!

Let that pity b-gone!
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.
That pity b-gone.
And also going are those benefits.
If you carry on...
Like you can't handle it!

We knew that pity had to split!
B-gone.
We knew that our hearts would split, and soon...
B-gone.
If we let that pity sit,
Between us....
Both of us would have a fit.
If we let that pity sit,
Both of us would have a fit.
If we let that pity sit...
Between us!

And...
You'd believe,
That I could never love you.
To leave me feeling sorry,
And blue.

But...
I would know,
How deep inside my love goes.
And protecting what I love,
Before it overflows.

Let that pity b-gone!
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.
That pity b-gone.
And also going are those benefits.
If you carry on...
Like you can't handle it!

So...
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.
That pity b-gone.
And maybe not so much the benefits.
Since I would miss too much your many moods.

That pity b-gone.
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.
That pity b-gone.
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.
That pity b-gone.
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.
That pity b-gone.
No more from me you get pity.
That pity b-gone!
You indulged and had to rid of it.

I

When you are trying to sleep, Solominka,
In your enormous bedroom, and are waiting,
Sleepless, for the high and weighty ceiling to come down
With quiet, heavy sorrow on your keen eyelids,

Sonorous Solomka, or seasoned Solominka,
You've drunk down all death, grown tender and
Been broken, my dear Solomka, no more alive --
Not Salome, no, it is Solominka.

In hours of insomnia, objects are heavier
As if fewer of them -- such a stillness --
The cushions glitter in the mirror, whitening a bit,
And the bed is reflected in the round pool.

No, it is not Solomka in her solemn satin
In a huge room above the black Neva.
For twelve months they sing of the final hour,
And the pale blue ice waves in the air.

Solemn December sends out its breath
As if the great Neva were in the room.
No, not Solominka, Ligeia, dying --
I have learned you, glorious words.

II

I have learned you, blessed words:
-- Lenore, Solominka, Ligeia, Seraphita --
In the enormous room, the great Neva,
And from the granite, the blue blood flows.

Solemn December shines above the Neva.
For twelve months they sing of the final hour.
No, not Solominka in her satin
Savoring a slow, oppressive rest.

In my blood lives December's Ligeia,
Whose blissful love sleeps in a sarcophagus,
And which, solominka, perhaps Salome,
Was killed by pity, and shall never return.

Pity Me, Loo!

On the sunset borders of the mountains I stray,
Of a dear home dreaming 'yond the snow peaks far away,
While the bubbling brook beside me goes dancing along,
As it seeks the "Golden Gate" of the ocean blue;
And a lone bird murmurs in the bush-top his song--
"Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!"

Tra la la la, la la la la
From mate to mate the carol rings:
Tra la la la, la la la la!
la la la la
A thousand valleys through;
Yet the lone bird sorrows as he plaintively sings--
"Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!"

'Neath the rocks I'm treading there are treasures of gold,
But by far more precious is my own native mold.
Nevermore, in search of Beauty need Fancy take wings:
Here is beauty, here is grandeur, at ev'ry view;
Yet my heart grows heavy, and the lone bird still sings--
"Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!"

In the green-clad valley where the wayward brook mends
There are homes most charming--there are warmhearted friends.
Lovely dell! it seems an Eden, afloat in mid-air,
As if God had sent from Heaven a creation new;
But its charm is broken, for my heart is not there--
"Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!" "Pity me, Loo!"

Not Letting Him Go

Verse 1
No girl my man
He don't have a million dollars in his hand
And he don't have a eighty thousand-dollar Benz
But he does for me not like all the majority
(Who) don't have a three story plushed-out pad
Living on a hill even if he drove a cab
I would ride with him and he would still
Be my boyfriend (neva)

B-Section
Neva owned a drop top or any diamond rings
Don't ride no yachts and those expensive things
Neva seen a big mansion and no private planes
But he has my heart
Neva slept in a Four Seasons suite in France
And he doesn't have any high rolling friends
But he has his twenty-inch chromed-out rims
To add to my heart

Chorus
No my man don't drive any Bentleys
Works a nine ta five to make ends meet
But faithfully steadily going to places
I'm not lettin' him go
No my man don't drive any Bentleys
Works a nine ta five to make ends meet
But faithfully steadily going to places
I'm not lettin' him go nowhere

Verse 2
Love him from head to toe
And he spends quality time with me though
And he plays ball on the weekend with his folks
And he rubs my feet
When I get off from work
Sometimes we fight
And have arguments from time to time
But when we make up
It feels so right
'Cause he is for me and I am here for him oh baby

B-Section

Chorus

Bridge
I'm satisfied and so content
Stayin' here with my man
I have no need to search for a new I got a man
I'm overjoyed when folks see me out there
With him
So happily I feel complete
Together for the rest of our lives
