Fata Morgana
Sworn into secrecy
We waft in the air
With innocuous wings
Slicing the horizon
To reveal what we are
This mirage,
This esoteric mesh
This loud silence
Venting through the fringe
With all the colors
Of the blackest stars
With streams in our eyes,
With candles in our palms,
Who are we to judge
The meander of hearts?
When we are astray
From the very start
Cling onto hope
Cling onto fear
Cling on with you lissome hands
Let the beating be surreal.

We Give Them Our Power
From them only negative stuff we do hear
They tell us who to trust and tell us who to fear
We want to believe the lies to us they tell
They promise Utopia and give us Earthly Hell.
We want to believe every word that they say
And for to cling to power they create us and they
We help to create our own reality
The blind in the light of day never do see.
Their pre election promises they never do keep
We give them our power and we follow like sheep
They tell us who to fear and them we believe
And they laugh behind our backs and us they deceive.
Through false patriotism to power they do cling
And the praises of war heroes they gladly do sing
They cling on to power and they cheat and they lie
Whilst in the wars they created the innocents die.

The couple must cling
Two trees cannot cling to each other
And two vines do not cling together.
To cling, there be a tree and a vine.
Bend your wife or bend to her utmost.
Be supple if she is not supple
Or divide between you the time and the place
As to when and where each be supple.
Between the couple must there be clinging
For the welfare of home and children.
Once accustomed, discomfort is over.

Hold On
As I stepped to the edge on the shadow of a doubt
With my conscience beating
Like the pulse of a drum that hammers on and on
Until I reach the break of day
When the sun beats down on the halfway house
Has my conscience beating
The sound in my ear
The will to persevere
As I reach the break of day
When you lost all hope and excuses
And the cheapskates and the losers
Nothing's left to cling on to
Gotta hold on
Hold on to yourself
A cry of hope
A plea for peace
And my conscience beating
It's not what I want for
It's all that I need
To reach the break of day
So I run to the edge of the shadows of a doubt
With my conscience bleeding
Here lies the truth the lost treasures of my youth
As I hold on to the break of day
When you lost all hope and excuses
And the cheapskates and the losers
Nothing's left to cling on to
Gotta hold on
Hold on to yourself
When you lost all hope and excuses
And the cheapskates and the losers
Nothing's left to cling on to
Gotta hold on
Gotta hold on
Hold on
Hold on to yourself

Regardless of the Lack of Proof
To cling to that which is changing,
Splits and widens the gap...
Between that which is wished,
And dismissing the honesty attached
With facts.
Some will choose to cling,
As if clinging onto what has gone
Brings back anything stronger than before.
Reality is ignored and slips from those insisting...
It isn't what it is.
And even though what it is, is missed?
Eyes refuse to acknowledge its existence.
Even if it sits in their faces to stare.
They cling onto visions.
Hoping that myths aren't just mental visitations,
They've become deluded with and overwhelmed.
Regardless of the lack of proof,
That eludes their aloofness that seeks to be soothed.
And pampered by a deludedness kept attractive!

Some men tend to cling to old intellectual excitements, just as some belles, when they are old ladies, still cling to the fashions and coiffures of their exciting youth.

Love Evaporates
Brother or sister would cling to you
Provided they are poorer than you.
Poorer than them you would cling to them.
In prosperity, love would evaporate.

The sea rises, the light fails, lovers cling to each other, and children cling to us. The moment we cease to hold each other, the moment we break faith with one another, the sea engulfs us and the light goes out.

When September Arrives, Again
September arrives and Autumn begins.
The Summer then bows to Fall.
I use to think,
The leaves would cling on until Spring...
In New England.
September arrives,
And the sky loses brightness.
Winds start to whip...
Leaves off of trees.
I use to wonder,
Why I heard thundering...
As it rained to bring a change to things.
September seems erratic and dramatic.
Shifting as it does...
To prepare all for the Winter.
Children return to school,
As cool winds descend.
September has come back,
Again...
So quickly.
September arrives,
And Autumn begins.
The Summer then bows to Fall.
I use to think,
The leaves would cling on until Spring...
In New England.
I use to think,
The leaves would cling on until Spring...
When September arrived.
And Autumn began,
With winds again.
I use to think,
The leaves would cling on until Spring...
As Autumn began,
With winds again to begin.
When September arrived.
When September...
Arrived!
When September,
Arrives...
Again.

Are We Growing Wise
Of National security we so often hear
Just one more example of power held through fear
We may be growing older but are we growing wise
We trust the power hungry and swallow their lies?
We only believe what we want to believe
And for to cling to power us they gladly deceive
For their love of power they create us and they
Why must we believe what these liars to us say?
About people we don't know from a bar of soap
When we vote people like them to power for peace can we dare to hope?
'Tis time we voted out the war men and give those for peace a go
'Tis from concilitary words not war words peace can only grow.
For to cling to their power only fear they create
And they tell us who to trust and they tell us who to hate
And for our choice of leaders on Election Day
In wars caused by hatred we all have to pay.

Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year
(f. loesser)
Spring will be a little late this year
A little late arriving, in my lonely world over here
For you have left me and where is our april love old
Yes you have left me and winter continues cold
As if to say that spring will be a little slow to start
A little slow reviving that music it made in my heart
Cause time heals all things, so I neednt cling to this fear
Its merely that spring will be a little late this year
Yes time heals all things so I neednt cling to this fear
Its merely that spring will be a little late this year

Freedom
I’m a weed on
A cliff, I hang out with
An eagle, but maybe the
Flowers are the weeds.
I’m free and they
Are not, I cling to rocks,
They cling to a pot of dirt.
When there is an earthquake
I will be safe but the flowers
Will not. They are plucked
And put into jars of water
They will die, but I will
Live free and long.

This To Cling To
This to cling to:
We are together
Now, years later
In a dream-heavy place
We are in Paris
We are happy
We are in love
You are divine
This springs from somethin' deeper
Beyond a dream-heavy hour
Beyond desire
Beyond my control
This dream
This thought
This memory
This to cling to

Venus Is Breaking
I kissed this man with one of my lips
I bumped this man with one of my hips
Now Im sad and Im free again he wont be coming back
Save my victory get this monkey off my back
Its snowing outside its a desert in here
It blows my mind how you disappeared
And I feel so strange I need to love somebody whole
The sound of his name rocked me like a jungle in my soul
Im just a girl who wants to have fun
You shined on my world like a burning sun
Life is a scream I cling to this dream
Venus is breaking in me
I kick the sand get drunk again
I slap my hand Im in love with this man
And I feel so lame for getting sucked in this deep
Youre a quagmire baby and you make me feel so cheap
You shined n my world like a burning sun
Well I could have sworn that you were the one
Life is a scream I cling to this dream
Venus is breaking in me shes breaking inside me
Life is a scream I cling to this dream
My love was the real thing
I paid this price one time before
My friends say he aint worth it but Id pay even more
Venus is breaking inside of me
She dreams of a life thatll never be
Repeat chorus

I Can Let Go Now
By michael mcdonald
It was so right, it was so wrong
Almost at the same time
The pain and ache a heart can take
No one really knows
When the memories cling and keep you there
Till you no longer care
And you can let go now
Its wrong for me to cling to you
Somehow I just needed time
From what was to be-its not like me
To hold somebody down
Chorus:
But I was tossed high by love
I almost never came down
Only to land here
Where loves no longer found
Where Im no longer bound
And I can let go now

truth serves them embrace
and defend her case
part flattery, part threats
"for those who cling to this
dominion will partake in its fall"
with his silence, he passes the
judgement over them
"with your feverish signs of force
you'll make them and yourself to
believe that he still retains his full power"
as a platform for divine foundations,
you want to make them suck
shallowness and beauty
was all that concerned her body
but the soul, her divine guest
were thrust to the bottom
surrendered to the sect
that has risen from its womb
"for those who cling to this
dominion will partake in its fall

Peaceable
Cling to what is righteous,
And do not repay anyone evil for evil;
Bless those who persecute you and,
Do not curse them;
Live peaceable with all mankind.
If your enemy is hungry,
Give him or her food;
If your enemy is thirsty,
Give him or her water;
Always cling to what is righteous.

The Soaring Crane
Through the searing pain,
history buried; for sorrow, time takes
The future lifted in the sky amidst hails
for the tears wept in the jaws of Hades
have reached prosperity's gates
And now the streams weep
into our hearts' depths and the boundaries strip
Angel's wings that flip
as we travel along a riff so steep
unto healing, all natives cling
The soaring crane blossoms in might
with it's mighty wings conquering heights
with it's hardened fists ready for a fight
glimpsing into the future with its keen sight
it set's off for its destined flight.

Blind Them With Your Reach For The Stars
Why cling onto what people think?
Is that going to change?
Are you...
Going through any misgivings?
If you are...
Let that be a natural process.
People are going to voice their opinion.
And some do not care how that is done.
Or if what is done,
Hurts anyone.
They just want the taste of that venom,
Dripping from their lips.
Every second, minute and hour...
A ticking clock tocks.
Why try to stop what is a fixture,
Of one's routined appetite?
As long as you give 'power'
To that which decides, select and contemplates,
Your choices made in your life...
What is the point of saying whose life it is,
Lived?
You definitely are not the one living it.
And if you are...
Why cling onto what people think?
When in the environment of those who are thoughtless...
You do not have to pretend to do the same..
And not one of them are pretending to maintain a sanity.
Why stoop to that level?
When you can blind them with your reach for the stars!

Children would suffer
To work with a man,
An elephant must be tamed.
An empowered elephant
Will desert him and go away.
Over centuries,
Women have been tamed by men.
An empowered woman
Cannot cling to a man.
Both mahout and man
Can’t afford to devote to them.
A vine finds secure
In being supple to cling.
Unless a woman
Clings to her husband for ever
And unless man makes
Sacrifices, children would suffer.

As If Life Without Power
As if life without power is a meaningless thing
Ageing political leaders to their power base try to cling
It does seem their egos are out of control
And to garner more power in life their only goal
For to cling to power they spread rumors of fear
And negative stuff from them is all we hear
Ambiguous with their words they know how to deceive
But then suppose we believe what we want to believe
To woo gullible voters they turn on the charm
Make believe that they can protect us from harm
For victims of terrorism shed crocodile tears
Woo votes by hugging babies and silly old dears
And we vote them back in on Election day
The fools never learn as a wise one did say.
