Smiling Culture

Should we have a reason,
to smile at people?
Should we have a reason or two,
to show the human spirit?

When our eyes meet,
we smile spontaneously,
and then move on,
to do our works. Nothing attached.

When our eyes meet,
and I smile,
The other mouth zipped,
but the eyes opened wide.

'He has made a cruel thing to me,
by not smiling back at me'.
'She has made such an act, smiling,
by not keeping the stone face'.

Is smiling an expression,
to invite the people to bed?
Is this friendly gesture,
an expression of corrupted mind?

We smile at everyone,
male and female
young and old,
educated and uneducated,
rich and poor,
healthy and healthy.
at any time, but
we would not smile,
the second time.

A Place In Time

I have been to many places
I have known many faces
But I have yet to have met that special someone
I’ve been high and low
Even once my heart was a glow
But no one that’s been the one

I’ve been here and I’ve been there
I have found no one that wants to care
I am still searching for that someone near and dear
I’ve looked around the corner and over the bend
I have still not found a special friend
I’ve met many people that were close
None of them I’ve loved the most

I care for everyone that I have met
Looking back life I can not regret
The feeling of being a pair is still there
Do you really care?
Jump into the fire if you dare

Enter into my world, just walk right in
You will see the places I’ve been
Walk a mile in my shoes
Take a chance if you choose
Take a leap of faith with me
Look into my eyes and you will see

A man that gives himself completely
A man that needs you desperately
A man that will be there not just occasionally
A man that knows responsibility
A man that will never fall for infidelity

A man that will love you down to the bone
A man that would never leave you alone
A man that there through good times or bad
A man that would give you everything he had
To hear your voice makes him exceedingly glad

Now I am a one man show

Fifth Avenue At Twilight

Across the moonlit painted skies
The lonely windows weep
And in their faces candles creep
Much to the night's demise
Shadows walk the alleyways
They slither through the grime
Crooked top hats droop with time
Deflecting others' gaze
Trees are few and weak under trial
As smog accumulates
And all life slowly suffocates
Under its ashen smile

Raise A Smile

Once in a while we sit on a bench
and watch the people pass by.
We gaze at their faces,
raise a smile to them,
cheering up their lives we hope
as they pass on their way.
One day one of these faces
may recognise us an old friend.
They may even stop
and chat to us for a while
before they again carry on their way.
It is always nice to smile at people
for you never know,
one of them may be an old friend
you have not seen in a long while.

New Friends

Everyone I meet as I walk through life,
I take to my heart as a friend.
I try not to make enemies
out of anyone I meet.
Friendship means a lot to me.
Some people say I walk with angels.
I am not so sure about that.
What I am sure of
is that I walk with friends
wherever I may go.
My arms are always open
to help and greet any stranger
that I may meet.
The world to me is filled with strangers
I have yet to know.
Strangers who will become,
another new friend
when we chance to meet.

Gonna Buy A Hat

She talks like thunder
She really lets you know
She keep changing the rules
And leave you nowhere to go
She bore you rigid with the party line
Shes so far left shes gonna get left behind
He wants six pretty white spots on each side of the dice
He wants it all to be equal but he needs to throw twice
Now theres a guy in the corner with a smiling gaze
He turns to me and says
Im gonna buy a hat
cos I think its gonna rain
Got caught out coming here
Aint gonna get caught again
Im gonna buy a big one
Like that mr gorbachov
And when its raining all this crap
Oh my hat will keep it off
Now take a look at all them leaders
Desperation in their eyes
The tight faces smiles that cannot hide it
They know no more than you or i
So Im gonna buy a hat

Life Is ~ The Stones Under My Feet

Life is the stones under my feet
All the places I've walked
All the places I haven't
They say something about who I am
The pebbles that I pick up to toss in the ocean
The boulders I've sat on
The skipping stones I throw across the lake
Gravel and sand
And cobblestone streets
Places with history
Places where history is about to be written
And what it has to say for my history
All those stones that I've crunched
Under my boots
Or sandals
Or sneakers
Or just my bare feet
Walking carefully
And there occasionally is a piece of glass
When I cut myself I bleed
But I heal in the end

A Long Long Long Time Ago

Yesterday arrived too quickly
Caught me right off guard
My defence moved in too slowly
Missed it by a yard
Id just settled down
With a bottle of gin
So I moved on to whiskey
And it hit me again
Memories were raining punches
Down on my head
Knocked me into the past so quickly

Soul Doubt

Going around in circles,
beneath my eyes are bluish black,
there's nothing new,
no one I wanna talk to.

Nothing I wanna think about,
I got soul doubt.

I stick my head out the window,
it's closed.

Instead of air, I get glass stuck to my head.
The city's sounding
And I can't seem to stop the pounding.

Can't keep my thoughts from flying around.
Not sure what I'm thinking about.
I got soul doubt.

A shameless display,
wearing a smile full of pain.

A frameless Erte,
a painting without a signiture.

She's waiting for someone to save her.
As I pass her I see Cinderella.
She doesn't fit the slipper.
Like she fits a bottle of liquor.

There's no one to take her way.
Her eyes meet mine, she sees right through me.

The question is asked, what you gonna do for me?
I don't want nothin, just a connection.
I gotta know what she's all about cuz I know she's been there.

Soul doubt.

I stick my head out the window again,
this time seeing a thousand faces all too clear.
They wear the same expression I've seen in my face.

So many times, I know exactly how they feel.
I know exactly what they think about.
