Dysgraphia
The ballpoint slewed
The serpentine alley
In a frisky ballet
And the rapping of the estoque
Quavered the roof beams,
Shattering the heaven
Where I fell through
In a requiem
Of tainted inks.
Fingers latticing
With an electric entanglement
And the gods hummed a lilt
Of elegiac carousing.
Words toppled
Out of the gutter
And the silken moiré
Unruffled, ejaculating
Incorrigible life.
A bard manqué,
A laureate usurper,
In a briskly cotillion
Of a subsiding swansong.

Alley Katz
(words by daryl hall & john oates
Music by daryl hall)
Put on your feline finery da katz are meeting down below
If you feel like rocking with a tabby, tom, and calico
Itll dirty up your pedigree
But we guarantee a good time
Wee got some catnip thatll set you free
Come on, come on, paws on the line
Alley katz, allen katz come out and play
Yowlin and howlin a social ballet
Out in the alley its strictly low brow
Alley katz, alley katz make me meow, meow, meow
Felix is a puss in boots
He really likes to scratch and bite
Sylvester is unnatural
The kitty is a catamite
He will dirty up your pedigree
He will guarantee a good time
He got some catnip thatll set you free
Come on, come on, paws on the line
Alley katz, alley katz come out and play
Yowlin and howlin a social ballet
Out in the alley its strictly low brow
Alley katz, alley katz make me meow, meow, meow

Kerosene Dove
From the dithering distance
The fountain puke swelling
In the belly of the sedentary sheens
Excoriating the cobbled streets
In the void knots of the theme park:
Amused with clockwork courtesy
And a tethering idiosyncrasy,
But the azure moiré of the canopy
Was no better than the soigné hostility
Imploding a muted friction;
A compulsion in its best
That scathes the incrustations
Of a reticent fellow in the flue
Clipping the flustering plumes
In the comport of a king
Ousted from his throne
Injecting the secrets to the bones
That where hollow in constitution.
Our fellow dove made of kerosene
Opted the safety in the blear of the scene
Suffocating on the surfeit effervesce of coos
While the soupcon quintessence kicked and flew
Far from the cotillion of the pendulums
And the infelicitous instigator of the palming odium,
But in the frangible hurls of the paroxysm
Beneath the torpor of his brooding wings
Is a fire that consoles the condoles of bliss
Yearning for the violent daze of the setting sun
To flick the yawning switch of shuffled impulse
Clipping itself to branch out in deeper fathoms
In the bosom of a cavern with smoldering fences
The wafting with the winnows of inadequacy
Lingering in the air will gyrate to enthuse
The urges of sadomasochism in the kerosene
Lathering and inebriating our taciturn fellow
With pseudo-valiancy and its kiths and kins
Thus, he will hurtle unfettered by any string
And he shall kiss the pregnant gloaming
Allowing its fingers to seize and grate
The lithe feathers bristling to scintillate
With the ignition of the kerosene
And the air shall stop breathing
And fanning the implosion of whim
To watch the dove incinerate
Slithering in austere vividness
Into a surreal orb of quasar
Sending the sun to abeyance
While singing the swansong in synergy;
The demise in an esoteric lilt
Humming in a whispering sift.

Sonnet. Milton
Oh bard! what though upon thy mortal eyes
There fell no glimmering ray of earthly light,
And the deep shadow of eternal night
Shut from thy gaze our lovely earth and skies,
Yet was it to thy spirit's vision given
To gaze upon the splendors of that shore
Eye had not seen, nor heart conceived before.
Then didst thou, Poet Laureate of heaven,
Sing of those courts and of that angel host,
Of that majestic Spirit who in vain
Dared, warred, and fell, never to rise again,
And of that Paradise so early lost,
In strains "posterity shall not let die,"
In "thoughts that wander through eternity."

Arcane Lightning
When lightning ripped the land
A torrent of amethyst riveted
In the landsliding current
And there, in the opposing tackles
Of eviscerating flashes
Lies the mendaciloquence
Of the heart of veracity.
In the shafts of the rasping
And the brambles of the pounding,
There was a fire ribbing
And no one understood
What bipolarity slewed
Into the ruffles of an electric heart
That the rain of fire halted.
The savage oscillation plucked
Too many emission, ejaculating
Too scarce constellations
And the riddling cacophony of
The struck zither dispensed
The jewelries into the engulfing ocean
And the lightning died in the sky.
The blade unsheathed and
The fire devoured itself
Never will the lightning reap
Its scythe into the barren deep
For the eccentric fury that propels
The esoteric fire of the veins
Never hauled the affable string.

Theater
>this is tainted love! theater duzn't hav any words!
Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away
I've got to
Get away
From the pain that you drive into the heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my lights
For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love
Tainted love
Now I know I've got to
Run away
I've got to
Get away
You don't really want any more from me
To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
You think love is to pray
But I'm sorry I don't pray that way
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love
Tainted love
Don't touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you though you hurt me so
Now I'm going to pack my things and go
Touch me baby, tainted love
Touch me baby, tainted love
Touch me baby, tainted love
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all

Ballet Shoes and Old Oak Floors
Hoops to blow translucent dreams
Silken ballet pumps to smudge and squeak old oak floors
Mildly ajar doors
Ocre dust teases oiled lamp fuse
Prima donna muse
Whilst tutus reach skywards
Or bow with the majestic elegance of
Tightly scooped hair
Lightly dusted pale pink cheeks
Words tweak the oh so harmonious
Pupils expand, dilate to the wise words of choreographer delight
Ivory keys tinker the bells
Whilst aged instructor smells the poignant scent of times
Defeat
As fresh young roses
Whose calves stand proud
Fingers extended exaggerated elegance
To perform for a whimsical audience
Binoculars entranced
Relish the ballet dance
Of time

Paradise Alley
Come on in, have a look around
Hang your hat and find a chair
The pretty women smile at you
The partys just beginning
Theres music everywhere
Paradise alley
Paradise alley
Paradise alley
Brothers got to stick together here
Fight with one, you fight with three
The family blood is thick as mud
Day to day the world keeps spinning
Paradise alley
Paradise alley
Paradise alley
It reminds you of who you used to be
And who you are, and who youll always be
It finds you in pursuit of dreams
And hopeless schemes
Life is richer than it seems
Nothing like being in a womans arms
The one you love, the one you want
Theres one small problem, who can she be
I feel like winning her in paradise alley
Paradise alley
Paradise alley
Im gonna take you there
Paradise alley
Paradise alley
Im gonna take you there
Take you to the paradise

Trapeze
Hold tightly into that wry
And sway with the lackadaisical whine
Of the elegiac ballad of saudade nights;
Lash those daunted toes
And slice the pertinacious heaven
With your steely legs;
And the sky would shut its eyes
As her ropy hair lets down undulation
Entangled in a bar clasping
Your own knotted fingers.
The feculent maggots would break
Their neck to muse your flight
And careen below to laugh
At your shattering cranium
When your blood gushed with
The girdles of trepidation.
Enthuse the moon's vision
As you rise staggering,
Violently bleeding,
Bones prattling to sing,
And you would swing again
Engulfing the pendulums
And its obsequious lies.
For you are strongest
When you are restless
Flaccid, like how the heart is
Stern in the fissures
Of a ruptured trapeze act.

Cotton Alley
[ music: john lombardo/lyric: natalie merchant ]
One time
You made me cry
Be proud that i
Remember
My chin is sore
The bruise is gone
But the spot is tender
Gave my hand a sister coy
To cotton alley where
You did enjoy
Your wicked games
You curious boy
Tied my laces up together
When I fell
You laughed
Until your belly was sore
In the brick laid aisle behind
The five and dime store
Thats how
I made you blush
But doubt if you
Remember
Were my tears genuine
Or those of a skilled
Pretender
Nothing precious
Plain to see
Dont make a fuss over me
Not loud
Not soft
But somewhere in between
Say sorry
Let it be
The word you mean
I was a little pest who
Never took a hint
Could never
Take a hint
You pinched my fingers
In a door
Tossed my coloring book in a
Rusty barrel
Pulled spiders from my hair
Fingers in the door
My favorite blue blouse
Stained on the back
Running from a berry war
Can you hear me scream
In cotton alley
Scream in cotton alley
In cotton alley

The Setting Sun
The horizon bloomed
Or languidly toppled
Tenderly into a sooty
Gelid oil canvass
Of ash and blue blood
And I fracture my neck
Just to wince back
In its gloomy eyes
And I knew
From the brevity
Of her stares
That she was about
To cry.
The portly blares
Of the afternoon haze
Rested her florid hand
On my coarse face
And shifted it
In a placid sweep
To a stellar gloaming
Jumping rooftops
And skipping ropes
With electric cables;
The yellow icy sun
Was fringed
In a bland condensation
Of azure and white
And it was
A scraped spot
Of the subsiding
Fire of the day.
I looked around
Dragging fire
Into the sodden
Valleys of the lungs;
The traffic was
In a carousel,
The fast-food chain
Was a carnival,
And no one cared
About the modest hope
Pleading to be
Molested by
A utopic vision
And I thought
What a miserable life
It is to be
The setting sun.

Song of Youth
The sidewalk burned with oranges and yellows
I could not resist
Your face the essence of a morning heaven
Luring me in with it’s presence
The songs of our youth
Hummed from your guitar
So I lied myself down
Shutting my eyes to rest
As your voice sang softly
Light glinted from angels wings
I gave you all my trust
To our surreal dream
Night fell over your soul
Time crept behind your back
Before my arms circled your stomach
Your skinny body left
The songs of our youth
Hummed from your guitar
So I lied myself down
Shutting my eyes to rest
The last glowing stars
Fell upon my little shoulders
The last spark of a childish love
I shall always cherish

The Motown Song
(larry john mcnally)
Bring over some of your old motown records
Well put the speakers in the window and well go
On the roof and listen to the miracles
Echo to the alley down below
Lets dance together just for the night
Lets dont worry about the future or nothin else
cause just like the musics sayin you gotta take chances
Go ahead just do it and trust yourself
Theres a soul in the city
Watching over us tonight
Theres a soul in the city
Saying everythings gonna be all right
So bring over some of your old motown records
Well put the speakers in the window and well go
On the roof and listen to the miracles
Echo to the alley down below
They wish us luck
But they think were just dreaming
Lets prove them wrong baby
cause you know what luck is
Luck is believing youre lucky
Thats all and showing just a little bit of faith
Theres a soul in the city
Watching over us I swear
Theres a soul in the city
Theres a whole world waiting out there
Listen
I got plans for us
Playing like a skip on a record
Through my head all night long
But when we walk that darkened stairway
And step out on the roof
I know what were feeling cant be wrong
Bring over some of your old motown records
Well put the speakers in the window and well go
On the roof and listen to the miracles
Echo to the alley down below
Bring over some of your old motown records
Well put the speakers in the window and well go
On the roof and listen to the miracles
Echo to the alley down below
let the temptations sing it one time
Bring over some of you old motown records
Well put the speakers in the window and well go
On the roof and listen to the miracles
Echo to the alley down below

Alley Oop
Hey hey hey
Da da da
Thats what I say
Da da da
Theres a man in the funny papers we all know
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
He lived way back a long time ago
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Well he dont eat nothin but bearcat stew
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Oh well this cats name is a-alley oop
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Hes the toughest man there is alive
Alley oop
Wears clothes from a wildcats hide
Alley oop
Hes the king of the jungle jive
Look at that caveman go!
Hes got a chauffeur thats a genuine dinosaur
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
And he can knuckle your head before you count to four
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Hes got a big ugly club and a headful of hair
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Hes oohhhh eatin grizzly bear
(*laughter*)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Forgot the words!
Hes the toughest man there is alive
Alley oop
Wears clothes from a wildcats hide
Alley oop
Hes the king of the jungle jive
Look at that caveman go!
(*scream*)
He rides through the jungle tearin limbs offa trees
(*scream*)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
And knocking great big monsters dead on their knees
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Other cats dont bug him cos they know better
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
cos hes a mean motor scooter and a bad go-getter
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Well, uh, hes the toughest man there is alive
Alley oop
Wears clothes from a wildcats hide
Alley oop
Hes a hully gully king of jive
(*laugh*)
Well look at that caveman go!
(*scream*)
There he goes
(there he goes.)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Look at that caveman go
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Ride, daddy, ride
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Heigh-ho, dinosaur
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Oh my goodness, what a big brute he is! hm!
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Oh, how would you like a dinosaur like that, for your own? mm!
(*laughter*)
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop
Alley oop oop, oop oop oop

The Electric Co.
Boy, stupid boy
Dont sit at the table
Until youre able to
Toy, broken toy
Shout shout
Youre inside out
If you dont know...electric co.
If you dont know...electric co.
Red, running red
Play for real
The toy could feel
A hole in your head
You go in shock
Youre spoon-fed
If you dont know...electric co.
If you dont know...electric co.
One two three four...
[vague words]
If you dont know...electric co.
[repeat 6 times]

Just to hear me
(more vague words)
Ive found me way home

A sensual scribble
I was the scribe who woke up at dawn
Finding a clean sheet of paper
And this glossy sort of ballpoint pen
Having the urge to write
Something sensual
My fingers spread the paper
On this table
Where there is so much disorder
Some paper clips and
Floppy discs scattered
Scotch tapes and mail openers
And some still unopened mails
That I did not mind
Not my priority
I was into something sensual
On this clean sheet of paper
On an urge to write
Grabbed this glossy sort of ballpoint pen
And start scribbling
Some lovely head notes
“My dear darling”
Careful strokes in curves
Sliding on paper
My fingers are wildly
Caressing to the shapes of
Sensual letters and words
And breathtaking sentences
“You know that you make me
Hot and you make me wild
And I always remember you”
And I am at the middle
Of so much longing
Using such letters
U and I
And w and e
Lots of ohs and ahs
And s and e and x
L and o and v and e
To make sense
Without pretense
Some exclamations
And pauses of commas and
Semicolons spread on some
Corners of this paper
With so much
Unstoppable anticipation
Somewhere in the center
I pierced this paper
With this glossy ballpoint pen
Writing something
Emphatic
Clinching
And I was at the height
Of my desiring and
So much liking
Something ecstatic
And calming
At the end
It was a beautiful piece
Of a scribble
Written at dawn
And I wrote at the end part there
“With all my love I remain
Your faithful slave”
And a postscript at the tip
Of my tongue
Written with a nip
“When will I see you again? ”
The letter shall be mailed at once
She will understand that pierce
Somewhere at the center something
That was ecstatic and she will remember
Every letter every word was an ember embedded.

Hapless Bard, I Hear You
These hours of the night beckons
A solemn caveat to remember
How to unfold an empty leaf
And hold the old quill pen
And scribe the cranial iron fence
To unleash the tattered bard
Glacial like his antediluvian harmonica
A partner starving for heat
Amongst the ears of the arsonists
Inside the impending eaves of the dome
Of a frozen and infertile brook
Ensconced upon a motel room
With walls void of sympathy
And latticing chandelier-like cobwebs
Tinkered by the ominous wintry wind
As an old song played in his mazy head
Which it isn't too pleasant
Especially when the windows
Opens into the sea of concretes;
The devouring sea he averts
For it had once took his life away
Under the streetlights,
It flushed like granite tombs
Swathing the corpses of his ventures
Whilst the mountain passes of the hostelries
Carouse unknowingly
Of a bard cutting his ashen lips
To give his harmonica a sloppy kiss
Betrothed to his music
That the wolves love to gyrate with
Whilst making love in the shadows
That beleaguered his end of the string
And nobody heeds
About his end of the string
For even the elegiac cacophony
Is a euphonious display
Behind the motel room's persiennes.
His song about the soldier's wife
Was reduced into a travesty,
His songs about love and despair
Was seduced into the sea
Where it sank with the shipwreck;
He was a victim of the sirens.
Tatterdemalion bard,
You may hide from the city
In an unnumbered hostel room
But your melody would scamper the city streets
Like a mad woman who lost her son
It will run and hunt
And knock on a boudoir
In spite of everything, still be welcomed in
For someone in the city's parks or alleys
Another soul live in your melody
Though some were masticated by ignorance
They can never find the ghosts
That died inside the euphonious opus
And they will never have you
So you never have to hide
Hapless Bard,
Whisper in the undergrowth once again
For the hungry heart of the city
Needs to sleep in your emaciated hymn.

A Web of Bridges
The moon broods upon her phosphors
and wove her lasso to concatenate
the sundered dispositions basked indulgently
on the filths of self-desolating defeat
and in her reflection upon the moiré undulations
I confabulated with my own flamboyant charade
inside the shallow shelves of this den
where saints knelt before burning bridges
gnarled in a prayer for vindication - I am a gargoyle
scornful and bemused upon the illusion
deferentially succumbing to a feigned oblivion
The latticing shadows of the bridges
overlaps in a consummate web of darkness
where I caught myself in the juxtaposition
of the squalid morose in our superfluous transitions
waiting for the monarchial jeopardy
while the pillars wobbled and toppled
leaving me in the taciturn propinquity
of absolute confusion, deterred absolution,
and there upon the shadows' grave
and the flickering of a kindled flame
I knew better than to make a wish
upon a star's failingly bereaved trail
Lonelier than alone, darker than the night
crystalline pangs of glacial demise gnawing
upon the prancing fountain in your very eyes
not a song have sang, not an eye had bat
fort the mishap flummoxing of the aeons
and the conduit of our tacit realms
As I stood on a collapsing bridge
it will be no better talking to the sea
so I break upon this fall -
just breaking for never more.

Poet's Conference
Take away the quill pen,
Or the clacking of the keys
Of the hostile kissing
Of the keyboard
And there will be the manifests
Of the tremors and stammers
Of dysgraphic woes.
Take away the paper
Unsullied and immaculate
Without the stains of denouement
And there will be blood
And tears spilled
In an aposiopesis
Like the ink on every
Ethereal page.
Take away the guise
Of a poet or a writer,
Manqué or laureate,
The paradoxes, the metaphors,
The lyric lines that metamorphose
The fiendish solace beneath
The tombstones of the tacit
Written words
And there will rise
Fulminating the sunrise:
Agony,
Anguish,
Despair,
Desolate,
Morose,
Remorse,
Defeat,
Blackly,
Heavily,
Desperately,
Disembogued rivers.
