The saddest poem in one line

Toothless and homeless
This aggressive old bearded man
Robbed a toothpaste tube
From the Supermarket
And wrote something
On the glass window
Before they called Police!
'Hungry & Angry.'

*Dedication to my poet friend Premji in gratitude!

It's another day with a smile

I saw a homeless on the road in front of a skyscraper
And he was throwing peanuts from his holey pocket to stray pigeons with a toothless smile.
Oh! What a lovely morning?
Seeing a strange person who's penniless but he feeds others without any hesitation.
And he knows the bird-language well it seems.

* A humble dedication to my sick friend Jerry who's very quiet nowadays and may he recovers very soon and back to the site as usual.

Down the Memory lane

You're a learned soul that I admire at all,
In my school days I had a pen-friend a girl from Sarawak, Malaysia
Her name is Punithawathy an Indian origin if I am not mistaken and when I came to Sarawak once on a ship.
I was forty then, little aggressive
I want to see her but I have lost her address.
So no more, life's a dream day by day soulship reaches to the place called 'Anchorage' close to a certain Port,
And then you dropp your Anchor and lay up!
No voyages hereafter!

* To the poet Rahul Aithal in gratitude!

Please do not cut the green grass!

I am the grass; I cover all.
-Carl Sandburg

'They cut the grass their children to run
And where do I play with my little ones? '
The old Grasshopper Father cries.

'Please do not cut the grass
As your children have enough parks to run,
It's a sin that Lawnmower cuts not only the grass?
Thin necks of our whole nation too! '
The old Grasshopper Mother shouts.

Barber Shop

'Buena-Dies and Habla Espanol? ' She greeted me.
'Pokito' I said.
She brought a brochure and asked me to show the style I want.
'A short cut Madam and not to worry as I am not an actor.
If possible cut my neck too.' I said as a joke.
Later on I saw the parking lot through the glass window and some police cars with flickering lights.
'Hey! You are arrested and they offered me the hand-cuffs.'
Definitely she has called nine one one as she was scared of my joke seriously.
On the way to the Police station one of the officers inquired; 'Do you have to tell something.'
'Yes, I realized now this annoying life isn't belongs to me.'

Please Tell Me, If You Ever Know...

who robbed us of the days
we laughed with childlike mirth?
who robbed us of the days
when vibrations flowed between us
like milk and curds in their
purest form that little krishna
filled his tummy with?
who robbed us of the days
we danced and sang on unknown
river banks competing against
wind water and amusing little ripples
set in those crystalline waters?
who robbed us of the days
we built any number of castles
by the mighty seas and swayed
to the rhythm of the waves?
who robbed us of
the air that giggled in glee?
who robbed us of
the days of milky moonlight?
who robbed us of
the first showers of monsoon?
who robbed us of
the days of peacok feathers?

who robbed us, dear friend?

can we retieve those days of
spontaneous giggles
unfretterd spirit
uninhibited expression...?

tell me, my friend
if you know the one
one who robbed us of the
very fundemental connection
is he the master-crafter time?
is she a naughty elf?
him or her i wish to meet
no, not to accost
but to see if the booty
really filled his or her heart
and if it did
i wish to leave all of it
for their happiness...

Quid pro quo

A tooth for a tooth
An eye for an eye

You know what’s next

(ok, just in case you
don’t… until all would
be toothless and blind)

a lie for a lie
hmm, hand them
brand new brushes
each
&
more colgate toothpaste
please

they’re all lying on their teeth.

On Crime and Punishment

the angry young man,
who grew up in poverty,
whose mother worked two minimum wage jobs,
just to give him food and shelter...
who lost her jobs
when the economy fell,
and became sick with no insurance...
the angry young man,
who robbed the convenience store,
and while trying to avoid capture,
killed a young police officer...
who left behind a young pregnant wife,
and a three year old little boy,
left without a daddy....
the angry young man,
in jail awaiting trial...
awaiting justice....
where do we begin?

Unloading & Loading

*backbreaking, burdensome, exhausting, fatiguing, formidable, grueling, harsh, heavy, labored, laborious, murder, no picnic, onerous, painful, punishing, rigorous, rough, severe, strenuous, taxing, tiring, toilsome, tough, troublesome, trying, uphill

I left all the *burdensome goods in a street corner
And lit a cigarette non filter.
While sitting on the bus stop's wooden bench
I saw an old truck no number plate
Perhaps belongs to a junk yard
A young guy who loaded the ruins happily
For his endless journey,
And I took a fresh breath let going the giveaway!

Interpretations of An Embittered Poet

Is there any other place in the world,
Where the homeless and hungry...
Can be despised, disregarded and dismissed,
By a mob of art lovers,
Paying hundreds of dollars...
To attend an art exhibit.

At a renown museum,
That has announced...
The grand opening,
Of their 'Homeless And Hungry On Canvas' display.
Produced by an artist no one has ever known.
Or...
Has ever heard of before.

And the people attending are dripping in furs,
Taylored suits and bejeweled!

Even in the wildest of dreams,
These scenes would be unbelievable.

And yet...
I have never been approached,
To perform my 'Interpretations of An Embittered Poet'
One man show,
Anywhere.

And I wouldn't charge half as much,
For two weeks of daily hourly performances.
I wouldn't.
I would have eating a sandwich on my mind.

One Candle, Tonite!

if we all took one candle,
and lit it tonite....

one candle...
symbolizing peace,
within and without;
celebrating understanding,
and the willingness to understand.

symbolizing compassion,
and the desire to accept
all men and women just as they are...
the dedication to feed the hungry,
house the homeless,
and heal the sick....

one candle...
one humanity, diverse and individual,
praying, working, sweating, loving together....
the dignity of one
defining the dignity of all...

lit one candle,
and put it in the window tonite...
we'd both light the darkness,
and free the slaves....
as hand to hand joins heart!

Anger With A Friend

Today I was angry with my friend
And I decided everything came to an end
I was irate for no reason
I acted as if my choice was treason

He sat with me like everyday
But today we did not talk or play
I avoided him as much as I could
Because I was angry with him, my friend

He tried to solve things out
By having a little spout
I turned my face away
Because I was angry with him, my friend

All his tries were in vain
He was true but I took it feign
Whatever so, I shunned him
Because I was angry with him, my friend

A friend or foe, now I thought
It baffled my mind, a doubt
But I bored him, ignored him
Because I was angry with him, my friend

What if I heard him through out?
Wouldn’t our fury be hindered?
Then we would still be friends
I should listen to him, my friend

He said words of fret and regret
He said of defense and confusion
He was a sad, mad lad
I forgave him all at once
He was my friend after all!

The Case Of The Window Pain

an astute answer
discerning shrewd
would surely mention

this wit must be
personification
of a window pane

as for the window pain
perhaps the window is shamed
perhaps the window is dirty

as for the window pain
perhaps the glass is cracked
small large cracks streaked

as for the window pain
perhaps cricket ball punctured
victim of circle game holed

as for the window pain
perhaps the window is broken
glass shards bear crime witness

as for the window pain
perhaps window frame rots
an old window in house derelict

as for the window pain
perhaps the window witnesses
child abuse domestic scenes violent
