The dead souls stopped for a while at the Fairgrounds

The flower children throw popcorn
To the birds in an amusement park
And a Preacher with a hat
Screams to the stampede crowd.
'The World's end is coming soon! '
And a homeless is sleeping on a bench
Dreams how to get a Bank Loan
If everything is going to be finished?
The long hair Polaroid cameraman in blue jeans
Who took a photograph of the old couple with their walking sticks
And gave them the snap when it's almost dried.
The faces became a full blown love affair!
And really in doubt the photographer
The given hundred dollar bill is a fake.
He looks around in furor
And the old couple hand-in-hand
Their dress already changed
And they're walking towards
The nearby burial grounds!

Hand-Me-Down!

got my hand-me-down boots,
and my hand-me-down jeans.
my broke down hand-me-down hat,
doing hand-me-down things.

my hand-me-down fire,
and my hand-me-down pot.
take a hand-me-down chair,
i'll share what i've got.

got some hand-me-down thoughts,
a couple of hand-me-down songs.
i've got a hand-me-down heart
that wont leave you alone.

we'll talk about hand-me-down freedom,
and hand-me-down truth....
in this hand-me-down world,
it's just me and you!

in this hand-me-down world....
paying hand-me-down dues!

Walking In The Air

Sweeping low over an ocean deep
Rousing up a mighty monster from his sleep
Were walking in the air
Were dancing in the midnight sky
Were walking in the air
Were floating in a moonlit sky
The people far below
Are sleeping as we fly
Im holding very tight
Im riding on the midnight blue
Im finding I can fly so high above with you....
Free as we can be
Above the sleeping world
As far as I can see
(all is a dream)
All across the world
The villages go by like dreams
The rivers and the hills
The forests and the streams
Children gaze
Open mouthed
Taken by surprise
Nobody
Down below
Believes
Their eyes
Were surfing in the air
Were swimming in a frozen sky
Were drifting over ice
And mountains floating by
Free as we can be
Above the sleeping world
As far as I can see
All is a dream
Were walking in the air
(walking in the air)
Were dancing in the midnight sky
(dancing in the sky)
And everyone who sees us
Greets us as we fly
Were walking in the air...
Walkin in the air...
Were walking in the air
Walkin in the air
Were walking in the air
Were walking in the air

World

When two
People
Are in
Love…
They just
See each other
They don't
See the World
For they see
The world…
In each other

In My Dreams

In My Dreams

Written by: Wilfred Mellers, Saturday, May 1,2010 @11: 08 AM

My dearest daughter

In my dreams we walk together

In my dreams we talk together

In my dreams we go to the park together

In my dreams we go to Subway together

I know how you like your tuna with honey muster on it

You introduced me to it and now that is the only way I’ll have it

I know how you love movies especially the scary ones

I take you to movies with your friends and we’d have popcorn and soda

We would go to the Shopping mall and I buy you whatever you liked

How you love those pretzels tots and lemon aid

We would wipe the salt off for it is just too salty

You loved wristbands so we’d buy some and some strange comic books

I’d ask you how your day was going and how is school

You always replied, “It’s okay. Everything is fine.”

You always like to keep it short and simple for some reason

I would take your hand and we would fly across the sky together

We were free as birds of a feather together

In my dream it’s just you and me

We are songs with four part harmonies

What I loved about you is that you were open to listening to my music as well

We would stroll through fields of flowers

You would pick one, just one and hand it to me

In my dreams we would go to the amusement park

You loved the ride that is a swing

You went on with a little boy for he was afraid to go on by himself

I thought that was so sweet your concern for others

I would hug you and tell you how beautiful you are

I would say to you that you are the most beautiful girl on the planet

You would reply “Stop. I’m not.”

I would say, “To me you are more beautiful than the blue sky.”

In my dreams just you and me

I would tell you how cars would stop and people would just look at you

In my dreams you still loved me

In my dreams you still do

Exit to Enter

I can finally feel theres a way out
I can finally feel love theres no doubt
I have been walking these streets for too long
looking for a way out only to do wrong
I used to do music because it was fun
the crowd used to love listening to the punchline come
they were all on their feet in the competition I won
I think I found it too hard to work out what I wanted
it was like a maths sum,
like my homework it was never done
I wanted fortune and fame
but I got scared when a stranger knew my name
I never wanted to be in what they call the game
I just wanted to be part of the music
it gives freedom and the love dies as soon as you loose it
cause your doing it for them and not for yourself
when your alone at a bus stop are they there to help?
they hear your song and they know how youve felt
but then they start telling you how you should feel
they start lecturing you on what is fake and real
when all I wanted to do was speak the truth
they wanted me to record gangster rap in the booth
I'm sorry to be what they wanted I had to refuse
cause rap is a game that too many people confuse
you can say its painted as something its not by the news
but really its these fake guys who make a couple of tunes
link up with a couple of guys and think there in crews
half of these popstars know nothing about rhythm and blues
you say you wanna lace a track
you barely know how to lace your shoes.
So in them keep walking on
and watch you don't trip into the pit of hell
because I was once a fool like you who almost fell,
but lying here now, I can see the gates of heaven
they are opening for me I can tell.

Walking By The Sea

At the end of day
with my bride to be
watching birds at play
walking by the sea
holding her hand squeezing her tight
on the shore of sand, that be
all through the night
down by the sea
happy and carefree
no one in sight under the watchtower light
just her and me
walking by the sea
upon me came a feeling of euphoric kin
I never felt before
just a little after ten
walking on the shore
I think its love you know
thats what I wanted it to be
now we always go
walking by the sea
I always think of that day, long shed
just her and me, as beforesaid
walking by the sea

The Touch Of Your Hand

On the day that you were born
I touched your hand so chubby and warm.

I touched your hand when you were one
and helped you walk my beautiful son.

I held your hand when you were two.
We ran, your favorite thing to do.

I held your hand when you were three
as you climbed on my lap and smiled at me.

I touched your hand when you were four
as the ocean touched our toes at the shore.

I touched your hand when you were five
walking you to school but when we'd arrive

I felt the tug of your hand from mine
and I knew that we had crossed a line.

I looked at you and released your hand
and said'it's okay I understand.'

As I walked back home I cried some tears
thinking of all our hand holding years.

Holding your hand became sporadic now,
when you were feverish or I felt your brow.

I held your hand a few times as a teen
but always alone so it wouldn't be seen.

I held your hand after you said, 'I do.'
We danced together just me and you.

After some years went by my son
you held the hand of your little one.

And so the times of your life turn around
and now that my hand is old I've found

you take my hand and help me walk
and as you do we intimately talk.

And it takes me back to that bright early morn
when I held your hand so chubby and warm.

A Flower For Her

it is not a fresh flower
cut from the garden of my love

it is a dried flower
inserted between the pages
of my book

it was the first flower she ever
gave me
when we escaped class
to walk hand in hand
on that nearby hill
filled with the memories
of our youth

i am giving it back to her now
that she is moving on
with her own life

same with me.

Comin Into Los Angeles

Coming in from london from over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chicken flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer
Coming into los angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Dont touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man, man
Theres a guy with a ticket to mexico
Could he ever look much stranger
Walking in the hall with his things and all
Smiling, said he was the lone ranger
Coming into los angeles,
Bringing in a couple of keys
Dont touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man, man
Hip woman walking on a moving floor
Tripping on the escalator
Theres a man in the line, and shes blowing his mind
Thinking that hes already made her
Coming into los angeles,
Bringing in a couple of keys
Dont touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man, man
Coming into los angeles,
Bringing in a couple of keys
Dont touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man, man
Coming into los angeles,
Bringing in a couple of keys
Dont touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man, man

The Buchenwald-cat

a couple is walking ‘hand in hand'
on historical grounds

they're not talking
in disbelief of what invisible
yet so present

overwhelmed by the deadly silence
of the spirit
of hundreds of thousands
passing by also
so long ago in an eternal way

moved
by exhibited drawings
miniatures of art
by witnesses back then

only the sound of countless stones
under their feet cracking
each representing
the forceful presence
of whom once were here

even the birds left the area
only a black-and-white cat
living another one
of his of his endless lives
coincidentally or not on this spot
sneaks also in silence
with his body
crawling us
telling us
so much more

Outside the Cinema.

After tea
you went out

into the summer evening
without cowboy hat

or rifle
but your six shooter

tucked in the belt
of your jeans

to meet Helen
under the railway bridge

next to the Duke of Wellington
public house

I thought you weren't coming
Helen said

standing in her summer dress
and holding her favourite doll

Battered Betty
my horse refused to come

so I had to walk
you said

Helen smiled
my mum knows I'm with you

but I mustn't be out late
Helen said

where shall we go?
you asked

let's go and see
what's on at the cinema

Helen said
so you both walked

along the back streets
until you came

onto the main road
and studied the cinema billboards

I saw Davy Crockett here
you said

who's he?
Helen asked

he was a frontiersman
who fought Indians

and wore a bearskin hat
you said

was he here?
Helen asked

it was a film
you replied

oh
she said

she swung Battered Betty
behind her back

from hand to hand
I haven't been

to the pictures recently
mum said we can't afford it

what about Saturday matinee?
you asked

you could come to that
it's for kids only

and it's fun
Helen brought Battered Betty

into her arms
I'm not sure

she said
I could asked your mum

you said
I'd take care of you

I've got my six shooter
Helen put her hand

in your hand
and said

ok she'd listen to you
Helen said

you felt her hand in yours
and hoped no boys

who knew you
saw this or

the following
small lips kiss.

World In Motion

Sun going down in the usa
Down on main theres a family sleeping in a doorway
Around the corner you can hear the sound
People dancing around the golden calf
Those who have not, those who have
On the billboards and the t.v. screens
They got food and cars and toys and trucks and jeans
Like a homeless childs fitfull dreams
Smiling faces free from wanting
Lifes abundances beyond counting
World in motion -- speed your changes
Close your distances, find your angels
Lose your fears and meet your dangers
World in motion
Once we were running through smoke and fire
Running into the sun
In the rush of youth, for love and truth
Our deeds were done
Now we awake with a world at stake
And a race we run
We run
Sun going down on the usa
Sun coming up a hundred years away
On another world and another time
Things like hunger, greed and hatred
One way or another, gonna be eradicated
World in motion -- speed your changes
Close your distances, drive your angels
Lose your fears and meet your dangers
World in motion
till the world I look out at this world and see
Is the world I know this world can be
You have a volunteer in me
Now come on

Sad Flower

I was walking through a flower garden
and this beautiful flower laid over looking so sad.
It drew me closer i just had to know why?
As bent over and put the flower in my hand
my eyes got rushed with this intense light!
Then i could see with pure delight
what made the flower so sad.
A lady name rush was there before me
and held the flower in her hand
and give a kiss and told the flower i love
you.
Then she was gone
with a mighty rush of wind
for the beautiful flower has been dethrone

Heaven Came To Mind

Whenever I walk this riverside path I can't help but think back,
to when I was fifteen years old… oh what bliss.
In my mind's eye I see myself walking hand in hand with my love
stopping every couple of paces for a passionate kiss.

I can clearly recall that summer as though it was only yesterday,
we decided to sit near to the cornfield to kiss and caress.
The grass was lush and long, and hidden from the path,
silently we lay holding hands, this was togetherness.

The hypnotic sound of the nearby river silenced us as it passed by,
what a beautiful, warm and peaceful day… heaven came to mind.
Just listening to the ripples enriched the happiness in our hearts,
we wanted to remain there together until the end of time.

I could smell her hair and told her that I liked her perfume,
and she said thank you, but it was only the shampoo.
She smiled, and kissed me softly on the lips to express her love,
through the heat of passion we became an inseparable two.

Afterwards we talked and were shocked by how far we had gone,
our parents certainly wouldn't want us to be together.
Despite that we made the decision we would do it again very soon,
in any suitable place and whatever the weather.

A Certain Someone

I see us walking hand in hand together
in every book I read and film I see,
but in reality, you are never near.
If I close my eyes, I can see us together
arm in arm and so much in love.
However, when I open them again
I realise it is only in my imagination
and you are never here with me.

Everyone has a certain someone
and I feel you are the one for me,
but waking up from my dreams
you are never anywhere to be seen.
When my dreams finally become reality,
everyone will be able to see
you and me walking together forever.

Until that day comes along
my arms will reach out in dreams,
for in that world you are mine
and loneliness is left far behind.
Tomorrow is another day of dreams
and longings over you.
Always just hoping I will wake up
and you will be here with me.

The Blind Couple And The Close Minded Man

a couple born blind at birth, decided that they would marry
and a child they wanted to carry.
when an acquaintance of a friend
began to question such an affair.
he had to question them, he did not care.

how can you marry one another?
when you can't even see each other?
how do you know if your partner
is a beauty or a beast?
and any children that you have
may come out the same as you.
living in darkness, is that what you
want for them too?

the blind couple holding hands, and smiles
on their faces, walked over to him.
the woman asked if she could touch him?
and he agreed.
she touched the features of his face
his hair, his shoulders, and leaned
over and inhaled deeply.

she stepped back, and in a soft gentle voice said:
you are a man 5'11' in height
but you have no clue- no insight.
by your features of your face
your looks are quite fine
your face narrows down to your chin
telling me you are slim.

the mark on the bridge of your nose
tells me that you wear glasses too.

the smell from your body, tells me that
you are a nervous person, and always on the move.
and the way you dress, makes you think
you're in the groove.

'shocked and dismayed, he did'nt know what to say'

she then said in that same tone.
because we are blind from our birth
does not mean we can not see.
we live in darkness, but love lights up our hearts.
and the other senses, we had from the start.

we do everything the same as you
and some things, we may do better too.

we dress ourselves, bathe, cook, clean the house too
and we know just what to do.
as for a child coming into our lives
and if the child will live in darkness
the same as us.
in GOD we put our trust.

embarassed and apologetic, he learned
a lesson that day.
LOVE AND FAITH, have no boundaries
and there is nothing that can not be overcome.
if you trust in the FATHERS SON.

Better Off Blue

(susan longacre/walt aldridge)
Whos that knocking in the middle of the night
With a hand full of flowers to make it all right
If youre thinking Ill forgive you one more time
I aint that lonely and love aint that blind
Id be better off blue for a couple of nights
Better blue now than the rest of my life
Better off finding somebody new
After what you put me through
Baby, Im better off blue
Wasnt it you who said it was over
Now youre out there wanting back in
Its the same old book with a brand new cover
Id have to be crazy to read it again
Id be better off blue for a couple of nights
Better blue now than the rest of my life
Better off finding somebody new
After what you put me through
Baby, Im better off blue
Better off blue as a midnight hour
Blue as the heart of a red hot flame
Better than buying your lame excuses
Praying somehow someday youll change
Id be better off blue for a couple of nights
Better blue now than the rest of my life
Better off finding somebody new
After what you put me through
Baby, Im better off blue
