Hopscotch
Maya*, do you remember our boisterous childhood?
We were hopping over the marked squares.
At last you hopped over the horizon
leaving me alone in my dormitory.
I stuck in my room with the pile of books.
The gust rattled my tiny windows
and I am scared that my fragile heart will scatter
and blow away like a withered leaf.
I am already frustrated in the rat race
and this raw deal never allow me to jump
over the hurdle.

My dilapidated heart and the stubborn girl
Her ding-dong bells like voice invites me to play hopscotch.
And I just want to explain her,
Dear daughter, I am like your grandfather and I have already hopped over the marked squares in the tattered life and my fragile heart hangs on a string,
If I hop again that would collapse and scatter like dew.
To all my friends in gratitude.

Frustrated
Im frustrated cuz i cant tell if it's real
Frustrated because i don't know how you feel.
Im frustrated cuz you didnt call last night.
Frustrated because there is no trust.
Im frustrated cuz i need you night and day
Frustrated because i can't have things my way.
Im frustrated cuz you never want to hold my hand.
Frustrated because im starting to understand.
Im frustrated cuz we cant be together.
Frustrated because i'll remember you for ever.

Hopscotch
Hopscotch
In a train going back home
A thousand scenes hurtling back
Those smug village lanes
So much missed
My doggie, Childhood
Friends and the hopscotch game
Those tiny legs
Tottering and
Picking up stone
From hastily drawn squares
Three hearts and six squares
Our childhood cheers!
Time stole the scenes
Yet they live on
Yes, at the back of our mind
Three hearts, three stones
And six drawn squares!

Sadness
We have a great deal of sadness
Pent-up inside our fragile selves
Bordering at times on madness-
unhealthy in and of itself.
You’d think we’d learn to deal with it.
No! We shelve it for another day
and indubitably admit
its return in myriad ways.
Sorrow assumes many faces
Far too many to cope with each
Leaving behind tiny traces
of memories and self reproach.
Human minds are the rub, the source.
Their forlorn heart’s, the driving force.

The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
Sweeping along devastation or prosperity along its path
Todays sorrow, tomorrows horrow or perhaps a loving hero
But you! Have been swept here to occupy my lonely heart
You are that gentle flowing breeze
You are a warm summers tease
There's room in my heart for you to squeeze
And do to me amorously as you please
The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
Sometimes springing up nice surprises to be exact
Please stop contemplating on what may follow
Let us begin the getting-to-know each other for a start
You are that preserving cherubic smell
Evidently airing my inner senses quite well
It is completely difficult for me to tell
Why your scent stimulates all my bodily cells
Sweet and sour with you, we could shower
By the hour blessed with our loving power,
Together we can flourish as we flower
For the wind has blown to us love that is ours
The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
Hold tight; split us not apart as we about start
I know your spirits are low, you want to go slow
Assuring yourself before you set upon my fragile heart
If we postpone, I have this inclination
The wind will head towards another direction
Without hesitation and any apparent indication
Leaving behind no room for further investigation
The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
You need to catch what it is about to throw
No one can predict what may be about to follow
But true love itself in time will grow not go
You are that pacifying touch
A mild soothing winter’s scotch
That warms a throat so much
Change the gears on your clutch
While we sit back and watch
As we sow seeds of affection
In these perfect conditions without friction
Remember, remember!
The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow

Forget the pain and start believing
Peace and love surrounding earth
Respect to my mum who gave me birth
Butterflies are moving fast
Is this the last love look of last
Heavier as ever, rhymes quite clever
Respect to the world, its time for whatever
Stimilate the feeling you got inside
Hold me down so we can take a ride

Before The Snow
The winter is upon us, not the snow,
The hills are etched on the horizon bare,
The skies are iron grey, a bitter air,
The meagre cloudlets shudder to and fro.
One yellow leaf the listless wind doth blow,
Like some strange butterfly, unclassed and rare.
Your footsteps ring in frozen alleys, where
The black trees seem to shiver as you go.
Beyond lie church and steeple, with their old
And rusty vanes that rattle as they veer,
A sharper gust would shake them from their hold,
Yet up that path, in summer of the year,
And past that melancholy pile we strolled
To pluck wild strawberries, with merry cheer.

Bougainvillea
Who doesn't like flowers?
but he is scared of thorns.
Singly she lives with a sing song
but the prince is scared of thorns.
He has to jump over the fence of thorny bush.
Young prince was a good high jumper in school days.
That she knows.
But this hurdle is different
Prince has to think twice
and he scared of thorns.
Not only that,
he is worrying of his Crown.

Frustrated Again
Muir-Trujillo-
Frustrated again! (4x)
Destroy my vision - mental collision. The purpose
fading - you keep me waiting
Like stuck in traffic - my thoughts go static again
Frustrated again! (4x)
Start with lying - there's no denying. My mind starts
slippin' - mentally trippin'
Your apathy - comes right back to me
Frustrated again! (4x)
(lead)
Frustrated again! (2x)
Your rationale - don't understand how. Lose
concentration - find more frustration
Learned no lesson - but you keep messin' with me
Frustrated again

Maya Love
Maya love - maya love,
Maya love is like the sea
Flowing in and out of me
Maya love - maya love,
Maya love is like the day
First it comes, then it rolls away
Maya love - maya love,
Maya love is like the wind
Blowing hard on everything
Maya love - maya love,
Maya love is like the rain
Beating on your window brain
Maya love - maya love,
Maya love is like the stream
Flowing through this cosmic dream

A Song
Dry leaf trembling on the branches
Before the blast,
Poor heart quaking in the bosom
For woe thou hast;
Ah what matter if the wind then,
Withered leaf from blooming linden
Should scatter wide?
Would for this the twig or branches
Have wailing sighed?
And should the lad his fate upbraid,
Although he ignominious fade--
And in an alien country die?
Will for him the beauteous maid
Complaining cry?

The Philosopher's Study
A very average room, in a standard terrace house:
the welcome sunlight- ruthless though -
truth itself come down to earth -
reveals that the windows
could be cleaner; yet,
could be dirtier;
shows up the gentle layer of dust –
gentle in its fall, not gentle in its mercy – and
not rising from the earth, but
falling invisibly over time
from the ceiling whose last decorator
used a paint less than the best;
who ever invited dust?
But here it is, inviting in its turn
a passing twinge of guilt; it could be
a metaphor for the philosophic:
dust the mind occasionally,
time brings complacency
and thoughts grow stale,
minds decline…
to a stranger or interior designer
or feng-shui expert, all too cluttered;
too many books for home improvement mags;
not books horizontal, but books vertical;
one could remember how each comes to be there;
for its owner, convenience; occasionally
the slight annoyance of a book urgently sought
(I mistyped ‘ungently’ there..)
requiring the careful craft of extraction
from far down in some tottering pile…
here’s beauty of the mind
for those with mind to see;
and today, the early pale green leaves
from the trimming of the Japanese maple,
every single leaf looking as if it had been bred
by centuries of Japanese devoted to the belief
that man and nature, hand in hand,
may reveal a beauty beyond both –
each leaf tilted delicately towards you as if
as a host bowing modestly in welcome at the door -
these few leaves take your humbled breath away.
In this place, the world itself:
‘infinite riches in a little room’;
as above, so below; as without, so within:
here, heaven and earth, all, open to question;
here is the human mind at home;
meditating; dreaming; waiting in patient hope
like those humble maple leaves
for some new idea to enter,
to expand the loved, mysterious,
boundless glory of the world which constantly
threatens to shrink all to a tiny, wizened, unwise thing;
while unexpectedly at any time may come
a poem, interrupting the philosophy,
to say the things that have not yet been said.

MAya Maya
she came a long way to me
but I found her in my heart
she came a long way to me
but I found her in my soul
she came a long way alone
but she was in; always with me
maya maya she was always indeep
she danced for me
she rose a dream;
for me
she broke the sound
of groan in me
for me
she was a hope
for me
she sang her songs
for me
and gave the freedom
her sound to me
maya the voice of freedom
for me
maya a sound out for me
maya dancer
maya singer
maya lover
great MAya a woman of nation
for nation
every nation

and she was proud
to be

to be black
AND

to be black

AND[ PHENOMENAL] woman
A devotion of love

Jump
Scared of love, love and swimming pools
Falling in you said was for fools
But when youre standing on the edge
You wont hear me because your blood is singing
Jump jump go ahead and jump jump
If its what your heart is wanting to do
This is real life youre dreaming through
And there is no glue to hold you down, so go ahead and . . .
Go ahead and jump
Scared of love, love and aeroplanes
Falling out I said takes no brains
But if your flight is going rough
Your soul will lead you to the nearest exit
Jump, jump . . .
While youre waiting
Time is grinning
Clocks and watches laughing at your indecision
While youre waiting
Worlds are spinning
Find another heart and drive into collision
Knowing this can you tell me youre . . .
Scared of love, love and swimming pools
Stubbornness, I say is for mules
But if youre standing on the edge
You wont hear me because your blood is singing
Jump jump go ahead and jump jump
If its what your heart is wanting to do
This is real life youre dreaming through
And therell be no wake up
Jump jump go ahead and jump jump
If its what your heart is wanting to say
This is really your lucky day
And there is no glue to hold you down, so go ahead and . . .
Go ahead and jump

Butterfly Flutterby
The butterfly was young
Her vibrant wings of delicate lace
Such grace such poise
A hcarming butterfly
The cricket was slick thicket
Moving quick but swift
Yet smart somewhat wise
Proud of his chirp
Hopping through the grass
Butterfly fluttered by till upon a rose
Spreading her wings a dainty show
Slowly sipping sweet
Hopping skipping
Cricket saw
Butterfly glanced
The cricket saw butterfly
The butterfly looked yonder
Cricket hopped and chirped
A jumpety crickety song
Butterfly sighed
And rolled her eyes
Cricket hopped closer
Butterfly laughed
Silly cricket trying hard
Butterfly cared less
Poor cricket hopped and hopped
Butterfly sipping nectar sweet
Cricket sang sonfter sweeter
Butterfly stopped
A song so sweet
Too lovely than nectar
Cricket hopped upon a rose
Butterfly jumped
Almost to fly away
Cricket song too lovely to fly away
Butterfly in a trance
Fluttering her wings lovely
Too charming
Too tempting
Crickect sang
Butterfly in a spell
Too late to break
Lovers forever
Strange couple though
Yet lovely
Yet happy
Suave cricket, Princess Butterfly
Flutterby, flutterby.......

I am scared
Pray
Because
I think Im scared of myself
My problems and faults
They lay upon a shelf
Bring it out with the shroom
Im paranoid laying crouched in a room
I will pushing
Away from a love that is close to me
Ill go away
I need to be stable like my buddy with grey bell
Called up my mom
Cause I know she was strong
Talked about jesus, my daddy, and bongs
Aside from the world that I know
People and whatnot and girls that do blow
Brought back to childhood
Not close to feeling good
Go away

Jump
JUMP!
I don't wanna wake up today
Cause everyday's the same
And I've been waiting so long
For things to change
I'm sick of this town
Sick of my job
Sick of my friends
Cause everyone's jaded
Sick of this place
I wanna break free
I'm so frustrated
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
Don't wanna think about tomorrow (JUMP!)
I just don't care tonight
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
Don't wanna think about my sorrow
Let's go, whoa!
Forget your problems
I just wanna jump
I don't wanna wake up one day
And find out it's too late
To do all the things I wanna do
So I'm gonna pack up my bags
I'm never coming back
Cause the years are passing by
And I'm wasting all my ti-time
I'm sick of this house
I'm sick of being broke
I'm sick of this town that's bringing me down
I'm sick of this place
I wanna break free
I'm so frustrated
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
Don't wanna think about tomorrow (JUMP!)
I just don't care tonight
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
Don't wanna think about my sorrow
Let's go, whoa!
Forget your problems
I just wanna jump
I just wanna jump
(I can't take it anymore)
(I can't take it anymore)
(I can't take it anymore)
(Can't take it, can't take it)
(Can't take it, can't take it)
Forget tomorrow
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
Don't wanna think about tomorrow (JUMP!)
I just don't care tonight
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
Don't wanna think about my sorrow
Let's go, whoa!
Forget your problems
I just let them go, whoa!
Forget tomorrow
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
Yeah!
I just wanna jump (JUMP!)
I just wanna jump!

A little angel who sings beneath an old bachelor's little sick heart
Thank you my dear little angel
Sing little louder please
As my hearing is little weak
Like the fragile little heart.
I remember once
I too sang my sad song
With my little companion viola,
Low pitch in solitary parks.
But angels were not seen
Those days.
Yes, my lost youth full of songs
But nobody knows
And only the withered flowers
Just smiled with a teardrop
In their innocent eyes
But I was little scared of unnecessary taboos
And left behind!
* I humbly dedicate this poem to my silent poet friend Dave Tanguay who resides in Florida!

Leavings Not Leaving
Title from anywhere but here
Starring susan sarandon
Sometimes a time comes along
When its time to, time to move on
Youll still be there in everything that I do
And wherever I go
Ill remember you
Leavings not leaving
cause Im not, leaving you behind
Youll always be with me, always be with me
Part of my heart for all time
Where Im going , youre going
Even if its just in my mind
Leavings not leaving
Im not leaving you behind
Moments shared there with you
Theyre the best times that I ever knew
Theyll still be there when godbyes are all though
Ill remember those days
Ill remember you
Leavings not leaving
cause Im not, leaving you behind
Youll always be with me, always be with me
Part of my heart for all time
Where Im going , youre going
Even if its just in my mind
Leavings not leaving
Im not leaving you behind
Ill hold on the memories
cause in my heart youll be here with me
Theres no reason to cry
Goddbye isnt really goodbye
Leavings not leaving
cause Im not, leaving you behind
Youll always be with me, always be with me
Part of my heart for all time
Where Im going , youre going
Even if its just in my mind
Leavings not leaving
Im not leaving you behind
Leavings not leaving
Not leaving you behind
Im not leaving you
Im not leaving you behind
Leavings not leaving
Im not leaving you
Im not leaving you behind

Red Light Fever
I'm wide awake in the dark
Tryin' to figure out where you are
Always goin' nowhere
'Fraid of goin' somewhere
Somewhere's a place in your heart
Sometimes when I think about you
Why you're always running away
Sitting in your car
Changing who you are
Drowning the thoughts of you like in the music
Scared the lights will turn green
You'll have to be seen
You'll be like anybody else
Scared the lights will turn red
You're stuck in your head
You can't run it to even her
How you gonna get through the year
You can't
Playin' on the sides of the night
Too many people want too many things
And you ?? to forget
Scared the lights will turn green
You'll have to be seen
You'll be like anybody else
Scared the lights will turn red
You're stuck in your head
Too scared to commit to even her
How you gonna make it through
You're always listenin'
You're always listenin'
You're always listenin'
To yourself
You're always thinkin'
You're always thinkin'
You knew what everybody else
Should do with their lives
I'm wide awake in the dark
Tryin' to figure out where you are
Always goin' nowhere
'Fraid of goin' somewhere
And somewhere's a place in your heart
Somewhere's a place in your heart
Scared the lights will turn green
You'll have to be seen
You'll be like anybody else
Scared the lights will turn red
You're stuck in your head
You can't run it to even her
Scared the lights will turn green
You'll have to be seen
You'll be like anybody else
Scared the lights will turn red
You're stuck in your head
Too scared to commit to even her
How you gonna get through the year
