An open letter to the Cricket Board if it still exists

You must arrange a triangular cricket tournament
In between India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in lankan grounds
And must be fair umpires to be present to catch the shy bowler.

Eucalyptus

A tree grows in Australia and I heard the leaves that yield strong smelling oil.
My poet friend Jerry.Hughes lives there like a huge tree.
I have a message for you my dear friend.
My wife was informed me two days ago
Our eldest daughter & the family will migrate to Australia soon
For better prospects and they were given a promise
To drag us to the city of Melbourne once they touched the soil.
I wrote to my wife' Hey! My darling pain killer
If it's not a dream at least we can rest in peace in an aboriginal's graveyard as 'True Lovers' under the Eucalyptus tree.

Mom's endless dream, my success

Mom! I am sorry that I couldn't get the said scholarship to your dreamland.
It seemed that few marks less to the required margin.
And I was thrown into the lower depths.
Here too they use the same alphabet and few qualified teachers presence.
But it's very hard to study without any funds.
And one day if I come with the right tools of achievement,
Mom! Could you please wait for me at the tuck shop as usual.

*[ Still I remember in our hard times we shared the same broken cup of tea and a tiny sugar bun while you were examining my fortnight report. Mom you are very fond of cricket that I know well, who is behind Tuesday's ruthless attack against the Sri Lankan cricket team in the eastern Pakistan city of Lahore? ]

America–A Black Wall

(1)
The brand is that of Harnam Das, but the benefit goes to America
The fools are trying that the sun of America does not set.
The poor had tears in their eyes in the past, they are still in sorrow.
Birla is celebrating Diwali, but the oil burning in his lamp belongs to America.

All the oppressed of the world have discovered this secret,
That America has encamped under the shades of the wealthy.

America is just a broker, everybody knows this fact.
That’s why, O friend, I detest the name of America.

To live at the strength of others is not a manly thing.
We will recognise you Jalib, if you reject the obligation of America.

(2)
India belongs to me, and Pakistan too is mine.
But America has pitched its tent in both the countries.
While eating the wheat given in aid, we have been cheated.
Don’t ask us, how much we’ve praised America’s whims and vagaries.
Even then, this valley of flowers is surrounded by magazines.

India belongs to me, and Pakistan too is mine.

O Khan Bahadur, you must break ties with Englishmen.
Their hands have reached again up to our collars.
Macmillan could not be yours, how could you think that Kennedy is with you.

India belongs to me, and Pakistan too is mine.

This land, O dear friend, is the land of workers and peasants.
A few households won’t be allowed to rule this land.
How long will last the night of repression, the dawn is come.

India belongs to me, and Pakistan too is mine.

How Different Feelers Are!

A difficult catch was floored,
In which the batsman felt relieved,
The fielder felt having done his best
And the bowler felt disappointed.

An easy catch was slipped,
In which the batsman felt happy,
The fielder felt ashamed
And the bowler became annoyed.

A difficult catch was taken,
In which the batsman felt crestfallen,
The fielder became proud
And the bowler grew joyous.

An easy catch was taken,
In which the batsman felt guilty,
The fielder felt fortunate
And the bowler got his pride.

How different the feelers are
In a given situation!

Sethu Ocean Project(TamilNadu, India)

To shorten the sea-trade route
and export goods and expand trade,
the stone-bridge across the Palk Straits
off the town of Rameswaram
needs to be cleared away.
But some superstitious men
trade tirade against the Project
and stop carrying on the work.

The stones might have been laid
in ancient days by the Tamil Kings.
But these religious bigots
argue with fictional stories
that it was built by Rama
with the help of Hanuman's forces.
Whoever could have built it
but what use the people have
within the sea the bridge to save?

When Katchativu Islands
where the Tamils catch fish,
were gifted to Lanka,
these leaders slept in Parliament.
When the lakhs of Tamils were killed
enmass by hurling bombs on them
in the war-torn Lanka,
these Indians were on a honeymoon!

But the Sethu Sea Project work
which would bring jobs and livelihood
to lakhs of workers and farmers
is blocked by a writ in court, citing
legends, myths and fancy tales.
The Chinese are fast in trading.
Their astute men and material,
their indigenous and electronic goods
have filled and spilled Australia.

See, our flustered ambassadars
prostrate before the Lankan leaders
to plead them not to be a host
to the agile Buddhist Chinese.
As the Pakistan demands Kashmir,
Lanka will stretch its hand
to Rameswaram, the temple town.
The Chinese would succour them
as they have formed a triangle
to feel the pulse of the brave Indians.

Sonnet: On Indian Cricket

The One-Day Cricket is live telecast;
'Tis India versus another great team;
The clime is good and pitch really fast;
The Indian batsmen now face bowler's seam.

The spectators hold placards and make noise;
Most fellowmen are glued to T.V-sets;
A 'sixer' makes all country-men rejoice;
The Indian players were good at the 'nets'!

Most unpredictable team are our boys;
Their team-work's seen once in a way, by luck;
Yet, players score a century with poise;
Some famous players come home with a 'duck'.
And still, they break records so very oft;
Their cricket is an entertaining art.

Triangular

a happy family
is triangular

the father and mother
and the sun

divinity is triangular
the father and the son
and the holy spirit

nature is triangular
heaven and earth
and air

we are sitting on the
the quiet patch
of our affections
and we are triangular too

you and i
and
God.

India

India, India, India
India, India, clarified butter from the holy cow
India, India, India
I'm a pauper bereft of spiritual vision
Looking for a guru such a decision
India, India, India
Clarified butter from the holy cow
India, India, India
I'm a conscious consumer
but there's nothing to consume
Lotus flowers are still in bloom in
India, India, India
India, India, clarified butter from the holy cow
India, India, India
India, India
India, India

Great Teachers

I salute to great teachers of ancient India
For their achievement and dedication to the services of mother India
We are greatly indebted and honor the sons of India
Bow our head for their rich cultural heritage left for future India

Think of a life without contribution from teacher
In fact he is our guide and leader
Best friend and face reader
Never his profession was made as trader

So is the glorious day
We must celebrate today
Pay the tribute to all those people
Who did glory and took us out of trouble

Today we are at top of position
With their nice contribution
We owe a lot to salute and remember
They are formidable part of our life and member

Cricket

(sung by the vicar)
Some people say that life is a game, well if this is so
Id like to know the rules on which this game of life is based.
I know of no game more fitting than the age old game of cricket
It has honour, it has character and its british.
Now God laid down the rules of life when he wrote those ten commandments
And to cricket those ten same rules shall apply.
Show compassion and self-righteousness and be honest above all
And come to gods call with bat and ball.
Now the devil has a player and hes called the demon bowler,
Hes shrewd, hes rude and hes wicked.
He is sent by sinful satan and hes out to take your wicket
And you know that thats not cricket.
Hell baffle you with googlies with leg breaks and offspin
But keep a level head and dont let that demon in.
So keep a straight bat at all times, let the Bible be your guide
And youll get by, yes youll get by.
All through your life hell try to bowl you out
Beware the demon bowler.
Hes crafty and deceitful and hell try to l.b.w.,
And bowl a maiden over.
The devil takes the weak in spirit and so we must always be courageous
And remember that God is on your side.
So keep old satan in your sights and play the straight and narrow line
And youll get by, yes youll get by.

A Humble letter to the Queen

Honored Madam,
I take this opportunity to wish you a happy birth day as I saw in the BBC the celebrations,
Oh! What a lovely pageant.
My blessings, you may long-lived!
Sri Lanka is once a colony under your kingdom.
Thank God we got independence.
But Madam you left your precious friend in our tiny country
And his name is ' Divide & Rule' a real gentleman.
One day some innocents died of a bomb explosion
But your precious BBC showed only the empty bus.
I think some defect to their cameras?
This ethnic cleansing is a by-product of your factory 'The Imperialism'.
Never mind Madam we can forget the past as we are Sri Lankan.
But I humbly request a favor Madam,
if possible could you please minimize?
You're prominent BBC's (Prima Donna) partial yelp!
Thanking you in anticipation of a kind and a favorable reply.
I remain Madam,
Yours most obediently,
A scribbler,
Nimal Dunuhinga

I dedicate this poem to Miss or Mrs. Dumeetha.Luthra (BBC correspondent in Sri Lanka) for your prominent double standard.
