Mal Agueros
If you come to Mojacar
and peel open an orange full of worms,
count how many there are because
those are the days it will take for your body
to decompose after you are buried.
If you come to Mojacar
and find a small green snake with its back
broken, don't step on it or you'll cause
an earthquake that will catch up to you
while you sleep in a continent far, far away.
If you come to Mojacar
and two brown long-legged spiders crawl
on your face and shoulders, keep a sharp eye
out for two individuals, a mother-son, or
sister-sister who will try to take your money.
If you come to Mojacar
and see a scorpion scurry by your feet,
note the direction it ran to, north, south,
east, or west. You must avoid going there
or risk the sting of losing a loved one.
If you come to Mojacar
and a cock crows ten times at three
in the morning, lock your door and all
the wooden windows because nightmares in silver
dresses will arrive to slip into your bed.

Hermana Alacran
Fool who knows not of Romance Language
There is a language of strength and power
She came out from the dirt covered in jewels
With hips that can leave man in awe
She came with a heart set on grandeur
I come from the scorpion family
I am a Sister Scorpion that is my name
Loyal until the end to my creed
Why is it that in this world I am allowed to do this?
Why do I know exactly what’s wrong with this bliss?
A Utopian Society would be full of secrets and lies
The scorpion sister would know and she would find cries
You see in Spanish there is a saying that goes
You are crazier than a scorpion
Estas más loco que un alacrán!
Here is my bilingual play on words
This is written in orange ink on my heart
I am a Scorpion Sister; I’m the freak in the family
I believe that now there is nothing left to hide
I believe that if you have an ego, you have issues
I believe that I am not a queen, I am only a sister
I am a Scorpion Sister, a darling, and her majesty
The Sister Scorpion who is loyal to the creed forever
Sister Scorpion will attack, bite, and sting you
I have only to say “beware” to anybody who is a traitor
The sister will save you, because I’m the one
The Sister Scorpion keeps fierce in the world
Trust in the wisdom of the ancient scorpion
Tail at arms to always inject my deadly poison
So venomous, I am a scorpion, a creature from dirt
Nobody will know of me when I die later, but dirt
I am a scorpion, a creature of poison and of death
I am a scorpion and if you see me lose your breath
A queen and a sister, I am the new queen
I am the scorpion sister, the queen
Don’t mistake me for a clown
I am a Scorpion Sister
La Hermana Alacran
Bring me a child to baptize
In water from a river of Hell
Because my people have a fire
Strength inside their hearts
That is nowhere else on Earth
The queen dressed in a gown
With a thousand layers
And a meringue made of orange silk
Sings out to traitors and to hatred
She sings out in fierce anger to life
And the new queen is reigning
With strength with peace, and life
May the people know she is so grand
¡Trae me un niño para bautizar!
¡En agua de un rio en infierno!
¡Porque mi gente tienen un fuego!
¡Poder en sus corazones que!
¡En este mundo no existe!
I am the sister scorpion, small but proud
Small for now
I am the queen who calls herself Hermana Alacran
I am the queen who knows she is only the sister
She vanished back into the dirt
After killing the old queen
With a look in her eyes you will be in flames
And know how to dance like a crazed scorpion
She vowed to return as the queen of the world
So the Ancient Mexican Desert Legend says!

My sister dont
My sister please dont cry
My sister dry your eyes
My sister don't end your life
My sister your not his wife
My sister he's cold as a snake
My sister he's just a fake
My sister everything will be better when you wake
My sister Ive seen the pills you take
My sister he's full of lies
My sister don't even try
My sister your the one everyone likes
My sister don't start a fight
My sister it ends tonight
My sister I need you, don't end your life

I Step Out Of The Door
i step out of the door
from my dark room the windows are not opened
it is humid
it is cold
and i step out of the door the windows still closed
i lock the door and step upon a patch of green grass
the dews are hanging on the blades
and shaken
i look upon a sky
and there is this star still shining despite the opening of the
mouth of the morning
after a deep sleep
i see your face but i promise there shall be no tears.

Individuals
In the west we look to the east.
In the east we look to the west.
In the south we look to the north
and in the north we look to the south.
Wherever we are we look to the opposite
for the mystical sunshine
we see in others eyes.
That promise of plenty
everyone seems to have.
Each life is individual
to be lived the same way.
Each will have separate roads
along which to travel.
Each will find something
in what others have declined.
Each will find a path
to the heaven that they seek
as the individuals we are.

Up North (Down South, Back East, Out West)
(Danny Wells/Jill Wood)
In spite of the name, Independence, Kansas
Didn't grow many wild roses
But she was young and restless
And I loved her though holding her down was hopeless
I wanted her to say she couldn't live without
The life I had to offer but all she could talk about
Was faraway dreams, cities she'd never seen
How do I find that girl when she could be
Out there anywhere she just up and left
She didn't leave a forwarding address
Or a trail for my lonely heart to follow
Which one of those four winds should I go chasing
She could be in a million places I guess
Up north, down south, back east, out west
She could be up in the Windy City
Where the world spins a little bit faster
Or gettin' a tan down in Miami that might be where I'd catch her
Maybe back in Virginia, her cousin lives there
Out in Arizona, she'd fit in anywhere
It's anyone's guess where she came to rest
My one chance for happiness is
Out there anywhere she just up and left
She didn't leave a forwarding address
Or a trail for my lonely heart to follow
Which one of those four winds should I go chasing
She could be in a million places I guess
Up north, down south, back east, out west
I'm sitting here at a four-way intersection
Praying Lord won't you point me in the right direction
She could be
Out there anywhere she just up and left
She didn't leave a forwarding address
Or a trail for my lonely heart to follow
Which one of those four winds should I go chasing
She could be in a million places I guess

It's A Hard Road
I jumped on the train
I left this old town
I escaped the rain
I'm no longer down
The wheels start to turn
My worries are gone
I have lots to learn
About the trail that I'm on
As I look around
I see my new friend
I know I am bound
To travel till the end
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best
The train it did slow
I'm in a new place
The moonlight does glow
On my tired face
It's time for me
To try and find a bed
It's time for me
To rest my weary head
Morning is here
There's sorting to do
I'll sound sincere
With my goodbye to you
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best
It's time to move away
I'm not satisfied
I've spent many a day
Finding a place to reside
There's a town on my mind
It's just down the track
No need to find
A way to get back
The train I will get
Sitting at the station
The future is set
I feel anticipation
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best

4. Blow me down
The North wind blew on Monday
As the East wind got the flu
The West wind blew on Tuesday
As the South wind never knew
The North East wind had Wednesday
As the South West wasn’t chuffed
The North West blew on Thursday
As the South East hardly puffed
The East and West blew Friday
As the others had a rest
The North and South blew Saturday
As the weekends were the best
The lot of them had Sunday
As the winds turned into storm
The whole of them had Monday off
As the week got back to norm

Seagulls [1]
Seagulls are flying from edge tot edge,
their screeching voices call the veldt, the sky the sea
of South Africa stretching east and west
to a carnivorous hunt above the ridges, sea ditches
and small crabs, whose lives are spent in shell crevices, yield
splashing blood, ooze from their guts, their veins with
a little nucleus of skeleton. It was when I walked
facing the sea at its east end with a kind of dredge
of sprinkling sand, strolled through the lathering water
naked legged in the winter water, with a member as bait
under cast moon with rocks itching and scratching my feet
after I saw in my rising eyes the stretches, flattening
of this one land, a country stretching east to west,
(as if no other exists anywhere else)
south to north, wherever I were going
with hillocks, mountains, flashing city lights,
even trees looking somewhat blatantly
as if staring at me with cold winter bitterness.
I know that the sun still turns, until the next day
and the morning will visit as owls or rats to us
in hues of brilliant blue, only in the Cape it will be grey
and I know that day and night the seagulls fly over me
or we or us with wings covering South Africa, the whole
the continent of Africa, even the whole wide world
and their screeching will last until eternity.

Inside My Study Room
five o'clock, the usual time
but i already woke up at 3: 45
too early really
but i could not go back to
sleep
the words arrive
riding on the boat
such wind
hovering
disembarking in my
brain
i am surrounded by
glass walls
and light brown
drapes
books scattering
like garbage
on the floors and
tables
i smell the odor of
dust and
water inside a vase
unchanged
the red rose
had long wilted
no one comes around
to fix things
and keep all of these
in their proper places
the windows are still
closed and it
is still dark outside
though the crows
have already
sounded their
sad calls
the cocks keep sounding
it is already morning
and the windows
must not be opened
i write some lines
as usual and then
i'll wear my socks
and put on my
rubber shoes
and then i will take
my walk to the
woods
it will be cold
and i can see my breath
like smoke from a pipe
but i need this
my body craves
my feet want to move
the walls are too much
and the curtains feel
like they have to be washed
i open the door
and then i meet a new
world again
i know at first it will
still be cold
that is usual
i know after this
the sun comes again
as usual
and things will warm themselves
again
on promises
like what hope is all about.

To Our Destination
They wear a direction for their utmost pleasure,
The direction is either north or south,
Not west or east, like the compass shows,
The directions are clearly seen with balanced vision.
They must reach their destination with safety,
Licking its food, fulfilling the commands
And realising less danger, for danger is clearly erected.
The north is where food is, the south is an opposite direction,
We wear a proper bracelet, golden and silver and diamond,
These are the jewels of the adventurer,
One to take on the rivers and mountains is the ruby.
So pleasurable is the journey we have designed,
Mapping the way home with zeal.

Thank you, sister,
for being there
And letting me know
you will always care.
Thank you, sister
for loving me so
you helped me find
where I wanted to go.
Thank you, sister
when times got bad
you stood by me
as no one had.
Thank you, sister
for being my friend
I will love you until
the very end.
And I thank you, sister
like I have before.
But this time, sister
it means so much more.

Outro
She, wont get off the phone, she wont leave me alone
When I'm talking to that guy
She, can be a real nightmare, gets me to do her hair
And says it never turns out right
But then I put on a face, she can tell
Cause she knows me so well
Chorus
Whos has been my closest friend, someone who will be there till the end
My sister, sister
Deeper than the deepest sea, no one loves you like a family
My sister, sister
She, reads my diary, she borrows clothes from me
And I never get them back again
And she (and she), locks the bath room door, says five minutes more
And now and then run still not in
And sometimes we fight, every family does (oh yeah)
But that cant change our love
Whos has been my closest friend, someone who will be there till the end
My sister, sister
Deeper than the deepest sea, no one loves you like a family
My sister, sister
To fell and break the good times, who helped me through the hard times
Who bring me down to roof, remind me whats in coming
And who comes first? Who comes first?
Gotta tell me who I'm talking 'bout
My sister, sister
(Oh yeah) and who comes first? Arent no doubt about it
My sister, sister
She, watches out for me, I know she'l always be
By my side (by my side)
Whos has been my closest friend, someone who will be there till the end
My sister, sister
Deeper than the deepest sea, no one loves you like a family
My sister, sister
Whos has been my closest friend, someone who will be there till the end
My sister, sister
Deeper than the deepest sea, no one loves you like a family

Im searching
Need to find her
Dont think I know when Im right beside ya
Too much social
I lay down my pride
From the soul
Wich comes from the inside
I (am? ) the one who is most high..........
Let me ask you cuz
Hows your life
I dont know so why must I go
To the balcony of forgiveness
And the thought that I must deserve this
(I no lie? )
Just an answer
I just want whats rightfully mine..........
Go!
Okay!
Whos the one to say (bite the motor white? ) when the body body (little chop? ) on the grass

Shhh.... I can.
This time
Well Im buried
Under the ashes
All the things that
I took for granted
Do you wonder who wrote the story
All have faced
The same road before me
Let me ask just one more time........
Mighty words
That try to distract me
But its faith
That makes us believe thee
Yes I know
But thats not the question
Your my guide and show me direction
What we do to hold this time...
Go!

Her Mother Doesn't Know.
Rosina's baby sister died.
The cot stood empty
in the darkened room.
Don't go in there
her mother said.
Rosina opened the door
and peered through
the gap instead.
The toys were still there
by the pink pillow and cover.
Leave the room alone
said her grieving mother.
Moonlight shone upon
the place where baby sister
once turned her face
and smiled or made
her baby noise.
Quiet now the room.
Unplayed with
the idle toys.
Mother cried at night
and often in the day
and stared through
the window at the far off bay.
Father was away
in some distant war
keeping his head down
in some foreign land.
Rosina's baby sister
was buried deep
beneath the ground
in a small white coffin
dressed in a ghostly shroud
with songs sung sadly
and tears in the crowd.
Rosina peered through
the gap of the door
at the cot
and moonlight's glow.
She's seen her baby sister's
ghostly smile
but mother doesn't know.

My Sister my sister
My sister holds me tight
My sister kisses me goodnight
My sister knows when I’m mad
My sister helps me when I’m sad
My sister is so smart
My sister has my heart
My sister loves me lots
My sister ties the knots
My sister is here to stay
My sister I have until this very day
My sister I wish you well
My sister yes I can tell
My sister asked if I lied
My sister knows if I’ve cried
My sister has moved away
My sister is in my heart to and will always stay

Fall Leaves Dance
Look up and they're green,
Look up and they're yellow and green.
Then they're yellow, orange, red and green.
And then most are yellow, green, orange, brown,
Masses of moving colors, dancing up and down.
Slow, colorful dances bemuse the morning breeze,
The pace quickens with the evening wind.
It's right, it's left, it's up and down,
It's east, to west, to north, to south,
Warmed and energized by the setting sun.
Squirrels race among the leaves
Doing their dance routines,
Skimming and swaying the branches,
Weighting the limbs and twigs
With buoyant starts, stops and turns.
The new season is appearing: Fall is here!
Quietly and slowly birds hop from branch to branch
Camouflaged among the leaves
That silently fall, to carpet the ground and invite
New crushing, musical rolls from children at play.
