Survival

Head first, I bowled into a brick well
My lungs ruptured as I plummeted beneath my own wake
I had been digging a grave, now my personal cell
I cant make it out on my own, this is hell.

The waters rose above me but I have not died
Somewhere far above, I hear my name
Forgotten by my loved ones and cast aside
They left me here and I weeped and cried

I do not love them
I cannot say I do
They threw me away, their pride, their gem
The pain got to my nervous system

My memory faded in and out of the cold night
My friends and family faces now blurs of blacks and white
Any hope of recovery now clearly out of sight
Up in a peep hole, a beacon of light

Shone suddenly on my face
Something churned in my stomach
And I smiled
A weird, unnatural movement of my lips

And the light lifted me up
Without a single sound or trace
The waters subsided beneath me
The sun glistened upon my breast, I was out of place

I wanted to hide my shame and sorrow
Which had overgrown my once handsome features
My agony white-crowned my head, Mt. Kilimanjaro.
I had wished my way out there
And i'll be wishing myself to stay here

I'll never be the same
I thought life was a game
And lost.

I don't know how I got back in but I'm under the sun
Mending and living, day by day, one by one
I'll go through struggles but not let them take me under
I will survive in the long run
I will survive.

The Dead To The Living

Work while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

IN the childhood of April, while purple woods
With the young year's blood in them smiled,
I passed through the lanes and the wakened fields,
And stood by the grave of the child.
And the pain awoke that is never dead
Though it sometimes sleeps, and again
It set its teeth in this heart of mine,
And fastened its claws in my brain:
For it seemed so hard that the little hands
And the little well-loved head
Should be out of reach of my living lips,
And be side by side with the dead--
Not side by side with us who had loved,
But with these who had never seen
The grace of the smile, the gold of the hair,
And the eyes of my baby-queen.
Yet with trees about where the brown birds build,
And with long green grass above,

She lies in the cold sweet breast of earth
Beyond the reach of our love;
Whatever befalls in the coarse loud world,
We know she will never wake.
When I thought of the sorrow she might have known,
I was almost glad for her sake. . . .
Tears might have tired those kiss-closed eyes,
Grief hardened the mouth I kissed;
I was almost glad that my dear was dead
Because of the pain she had missed.
Oh, if I could but have died a child
With a white child-soul like hers,
As pure as the wind-flowers down in the copse,
Where the soul of the spring's self stirs;
Or if I had only done with it all,
And might lie by her side unmoved!
I envied the very clods of earth
Their place near the child I loved!

And my soul rose up in revolt at life,
As I stood dry-eyed by her grave,
When sudden the grass of the churchyard sod
Rolled back like a green smooth wave;
The brown earth looked like the brown sea rocks,
The tombstones were white like spray,
And white like surf were the curling folds
Of the shrouds where the dead men lay;
For each in his place with his quiet face
I saw the dead lie low,
Who had worked and suffered and found life sad,
So many sad years ago.
Unchanged by time I saw them lie
As when first they were laid to rest,
The tired eyes closed, the sad lips still,
And the work-worn hands on the breast.
There were some who had found the green world so grey,
They had left it before their time,
And some were little ones like my dear,
And some had died in their prime;
And some were old, they had had their fill
Of bitter unfruitful hours,
And knew that none of them, none, had known
A flower of a hope like ours!

Through their shut eyelids the dead looked up,
And without a voice they said:
'We lived without hope, without hope we died,
And hopeless we lie here dead;
And death is better than life that draws
Pain in, as it draws in breath,
If life never dreams of a coming day
When life shall not envy death.
Through the dark of our hours and our times we lived,
Uncheered by a single ray
Of such hope as lightens the lives of you
Who are finding life hard to-day;
With our little lanterns of human love
We lighted our dark warm night--
But you in the chill of the dawn are set
With your face to the eastern light.
Freedom is waiting with hands held out
Till you tear the veil from her face--
And when once men have seen the light of her eyes,
And felt her divine embrace,
The light of the world will be risen indeed,
And will shine in the eyes of men,
And those who come after will find life fair,
And their lives worth living then!
Will you strive to the light in your loud rough world,
That these things may come to pass,
Or lie in the shadow beside the child,
And strive to the sun through the grass?'

'My world while I may,' I cried; 'but you
Whose lives were as dark as your grave?'
'We too are a part of the coming light,'
They called through the smooth green wave.
Their white shrouds gleamed as the flood of green
Rolled over and hid them from me--
Hid all but the little hands and the hair,
And the face that I always see.

Movin' On

When I think about my life, I wonder if I will survive to see 25 or will I fall? Like my friends, they just keep dying. People round me always crying. In this place that I like to call my home. Not everybody knows that everybody goes to a better place. Not everybody knows that everybody could be living their last days. But the hard times will come and we'll keep movin' on, we're movin' up. Keep movin' on. Life, Hope, Truth, Trust, Faith, Pride, Love, Lust. On without the things we've lost. The tings we've gained we'll take with us. With all this rain it just keeps falling On my head & now I'm calling Out to someone else to help me make it through. Not everybody knows that everybody goes to a better place. Not everybody knows that everybody could be living their last days. But the hard times will come and we'll keep movin' on, we're movin' up. Keep movin' on. Life, Hope, Truth, Trust, Faith, Pride, Love, Lust, Pain, Hate, Lies, Guilt, Laugh, Cry, Live, Die, Some friends become enemies. Some friends become your family Make the best with what you're given. This ain't dying, This is living! Said we're movin' on, &and we've got nothing to prove. To anyone 'cause we'll get through. We're movin' on & on & on & on... Keep movin' on. Life, Hope, Truth, Trust, Faith, Pride, Love, Lust, Pain, Hate, Lies, Guilt, Laugh, Cry, Live, Die. Some friends become enemies. Some friends become your family. Make the best with what you're given. I.

IT is not Love, this beautiful unrest,
This tremor of longing that invades my breast:
For Love is in his grave this many a year,
He will not rise--I do not wish him here.
It is not memory, for your face and eyes
Are not reflected where that dark pool lies:
It is not hope, for life makes no amends,
And hope and I are long no longer friends:
It is a ghost out of another Spring
It needs but little for its comforting--
That I should hold your hand and see your face
And muse a little in this quiet place,
Where, through the silence, I can hear you sigh
And feel you sadden, O Virgin Mystery,
And know my thought has in your thought begot
Sadness, its child, and that you know it not.

II.

If this were Love, if all this bitter pain
Were but the birth-pang of Love born again,
If through the doubts and dreams resolved, smiled
The prophetic promise of the holy child,
What should I gain? The Love whose dream-lips smiled
Could never be my own and only child,
But to Love's birth would come, with the last pain,
Renunciation, also born again.

III.

If this were Love why should I turn away?
Am I not, too, made of the common clay?
Is life so fair, am I so fortunate,
I can refuse the capricious gift of Fate,
The sudden glory, the unhoped-for flowers,
The transfiguration of my earthly hours?

Come, Love! the house is garnished and is swept,
Washed clean with all the tears that I have wept,
Washed from the stain of my unworthy fears,
Hung with the splendid spoils of wasted years,
Lighted with lamps of hope, and curtained fast
Against the gathered darkness of the past.

I draw the bolts! I throw the portals wide,
The darkness rushes shivering to my side,
Love is not here--the darkness creeps about
My house wherein the lamps of hope die out.
Ah Love! it was not then your hand that came
Beating my door? your voice that called my name?

IV.

'It is not Love, it is not Love,' I said,
And bowed in fearful hope my trembling head.
'It is not Love, for Love could never rise
Out of the rock-hewn grave wherein he lies.'
But as I spake, the heavenly form drew near
Where close I clasped a hope grown keen as fear,
Upon my head His very hand He laid
And whispered, 'It is I, be not afraid!'

V.

And this is Love, no rose-crowned laughing guest
By whom my passionate heart should be caressed,
But one re-risen from the grave; austere,
Cold as the grave, and infinitely dear,
To follow whom I lay the whole world down,
Take up the cross, bind on the thorny crown;
And, following whom, my bleeding pilgrim feet
Find the rough pathway sure and very sweet.
The august environment of mighty wings
Shuts out the snare of vain imaginings,
For by my side, crowned with Love's death-white rose,
The Angel of Renunciation goes.

Death

NEVER again:
No child shall stir the inmost heart of her
And teach her heaven by that first faint stir;
No little lips shall lie against her breast
Save the cold lips that now lie there at rest;
No little voice shall rouse her from her sleep
And bid her wake to pain:
Her sleep is calm and deep,
Call not! refrain.

Close in her arm
As though even death drew back before the face
Of Motherhood in this white stilly place,
The gathered bud lies waxen white and cold,
As ever a flower your winter gardens hold.
She bore the pain, she never wore the crown,
She worked the bitter charm,
But all she won thereby is here laid down
Renounced--for good or harm.

Dream? Feed your soul
With dreams, while we must starve our hearts on clay,
Dream of a glorious white-winged sun-crowned day
When you shall see her once more face to face
Beside Christ's Mother in the blessed place!
But while you dream, they carry her from here,
The black bells toll and toll.
Oh God! if only she cannot see or hear,
Not hear those ghoul-like bells that crowd so near,
Not see that cold clay hole.

After Death

IF we must part, this parting is the best:
How would you bear to lay
Your head on some warm pillow far away--
Your head, so used to lying on my breast?

But now your pillow is cold;
Your hands have flowers, and not my hands, to hold;
Upon our bed the worn bride-linen lies.
I have put the death-money upon your eyes,
So that you should not wake up in the night.
I have bound your face with white;
I have washed you, yes, with water and not with tears,--
Those arms wherein I have slept so many years,
Those feet that hastened when they came to me,
And all your body that belonged to me.
I have smoothed your dear dull hair,
And there is nothing left to say for you
And nothing left to fear or pray for you;
And I have got the rest of life to bear:
Thank God it is you, not I, who are lying there.

If I had died
And you had stood beside
This still white bed
Where the white, scented, horrible flowers are spread,--
I know the thing it is,
And I thank God that He has spared you this.
If one must bear it, thank God it was I
Who had to live and bear to see you die,
Who have to live, and bear to see you dead.

You will have nothing of it all to bear:
You will not even know that in your bed
You lie alone. You will not miss my head
Beside you on the pillow: you will rest
So soft in the grave you will not miss my breast.
But I--but I--Your pillow and your place--
And only the darkness laid against my face,
And only my anguish pressed against my side--
Thank God, thank God, that it was you who died!

Night

He cried out through the night:
"Where is the light?
Shall nevermore
Open Heaven's door?
Oh, I am left
Lonely, bereft!"
He cried out through the night:
It spread vaguely white,
With its ghost of a moon
Above the dark swoon
Of the earth lying chill,
Breathless, grave still.
He cried out through the night:
His voice in its might
Rang forth far and far,
And then like a star
Dwindled from sense
In the Immense.
He cried out through the night:
No answering light,
No syllabled sound;
Beneath and around
A long shuddering thrill
Then all again still.

Guilt

Sad faces, dark dresses, condolences;
Words of wisdom, grievance and conformity,
My chest filled with agony; my head filled with hope;
I wander around in loneliness, in search of ways to cope.

Walked past the yellow tree, a mind filled with memory;
The echoes of thee words that fill the shadows of the hill,
A quick look at the back of me, the cold air masks her sight;
I wander around in loneliness, to answer her last breaths' plight.

The guilt at the helm of it, the gun in my hand;
The death of my loved one, the murderer at large;
My chest filled with agony, my head filled with hope;
I wander around in loneliness, looking for ways to elope.

Suspicious at suspecting eyes, my eyes with teary lies;
I think of how it could have been had she not seen what I have been,
A quick look at the back of me, the cold air masks her sight,
I wander around in loneliness, for my need to survive.

'Go to hell, you filthy beast' her last words that spoke of me,
Our child is six, I'll try and fix, the void you've left for her;
I'll stop the kills, I swear I will, just one more and I am done.
I wander around in loneliness, the gun still in my hand.

Moving On

When I think about my life
I wonder if I will survive to live to see in 25
Or will I just fall?
Like all my friends, they just keep dying
People round me always crying
In this place that I like to call my home
Not everybody knows that everybody goes to a better place
Not everybody knows that everyone could be living their last days
But the hard times will come, and well keep movin on, were movin up
Keep movin on
Life,
Hope,
Truth,
Trust,
Faith,
Pride,
Love,
Lust
On without the things weve lost
The things weve gained well take with us
And all Ive got are these two hands to make myself a better man
I wonder if Ill ever see the end of this
With all this rain it just keeps falling
On my head and now Im calling
Out to someone else to help me make it through
Not everybody knows that everybody goes to a better place
Not everybody knows that everyone could be living their last days
But the hard times will come, and well keep movin on, were movin up
Keep movin on
Life,
Hope,
Truth,
Trust,
Faith,
Pride,
Love,
Lust,
Pain,
Hate,
Lies,
Kill,
Laugh,
Cry,
Live,
Die
Some friends become enemies
Some friends become your family
Make the best with what youre given
This aint dying
This is living!
Said were movin on, and we got nothing to prove
To anyone cause well get through
Were movin on and on and on and on...
Keep movin on
Life,
Hope,
Truth,
Trust,
Faith,
Pride,

Senses of the Elegy

At a funeral people usually wear black but I'm wearing white
A small glitch of faith trapped by the depths...what a sight
Everything has changed the world now that you are deceased
Even if this is not the path you chose; may your soul rest in peace
I shall sit and stay with you and your one rose coffin
Strangers stop and stare every so often
I sit next to you entwining our hands
Even if you have passed my eyes shall remain on one man
One heart, one love, one life...one past
The love I have for you and others i compare and contrast
All i ask is for things to be like before
I shall look no further and breathe nevermore
My future and memories of my friends and family matter no longer
For they cannot support me like you do...for you are stronger
I think you did know how you made me feel when I looked into your eyes
We were always happy, always together, there was no sadness...there were no lies
I sit here every minute of every hour everyday reading you my elegy
I have always loved you and I still do that's why i want you to be with me
I will stay by you until there is no such thing as the present
Any of my time spent away from you I'll always resent
Sometimes when I put your hand up to my chest I hear my name in the wind
I know it is you that calls...so I start to cry again
I cry because I'll never know what it feels like to kiss your warm lips
When you were alive you drunk my life force in big sips
And when you got full you diminished our hereafter
A life without you could tear me apart like a natural disaster
Yet here I remain by you whose name was brought to shame
Nevertheless, I did not care...you were not to blame
From my mind your face will never fade
I refuse to be alone now I shall lie in the bed that I've made
It's such a pity that I won't be able to kiss your high cheekbones
You died labeling me single instead of widowed...you melt my heart to stone
Since then I haven't been home so when night appears I lay my head on your casket and see you in my dreams
How could you not see your mind...your soul...your life...tearing at the seams?
How could you know if I reek if you cannot smell?
How could you know, see, or feel what I feel if you cannot tell?
How can you know if I'm good if you cannot taste?
How can you rest in peace knowing your hard work has gone to waste?
How can you be happy and go into the tunnel of light when at the end of it is someone else's face?
The place I have for you in my heart no one else can replace
Without you I don't know what it means to be alive
I feed off of nothing so I won't survive
I remain rooted by you; it seems as if the world is spinning
If you could be revived would you go back to that grand hour or the beginning?
That day you were stressed and delusional of what you were hearing
You're just like the man of every woman's dreams even now you are appealing
Every night before I go to sleep I kiss you softly on your neck
I'm here now and I've been here since the day we've met...you I will never neglect
You're broken; a king who cannot breathe cannot be betrothed upon the throne
You...my darling, my family, my friends and the world have all left me alone
You should be proud your name's written in the dirt
Because you could never know how much this hurts
You can choose to chase me although I won't feel your touch
I sit beside you wasting away because I love you so much
I loved lying beside you in bed resting my head against your chest
I just hope you know you've been everything to me so for now just get some rest
You're in the sky now and I should have no reason to worry
I am ashamed to feel like this for you, for me...for us and I'm sorry
I cannot disappoint you anymore...I'll go home after giving you one last kiss
I'll be back for you and every minute I'm away it'll be you that I miss
To bring back my reason to exist your death i shall undo
As I walk away the darkness surrounds me and I fall into the abyss thinking about you

Our Survival

We shall survive distance.
We shall survive space.
But can we survive the loneliness
that we have to face?

We shall survive winter.
We shall survive spring.
But can we survive the guilt
of the wedding ring?

We shall survive long nights.
We shall survive days.
But can we survive the longings
that always and forever stays?

We shall survive suspicion.
We shall survive fear.
But can we survive living
without each other, dear?

We shall survive all of this
if we put our love first.
We shall survive hunger.
We shall survive thirst
only if this love is true.

Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson

From The Cantata For N. F. S. Grundtvig

His day was the greatest the Northland has seen,
It one was with the midnight-sun's wonders serene:
The light wherein he sat was the light of God's true peace,
And that has never morning, nor night when it must cease.

In light of God's peace shone the
history
he gave,
The spirit's course on earth that shall conquer the grave.
Might of God's pure peace thus our
fathers'
mighty way
Before us for example and warning open lay.

In light of God's peace he beheld with watchful eye
The people at their work and the spirit's strivings high.
In light of God's pure peace he would have all learning glow,
And where his word is honored the 'Folk-High-Schools' must grow.

In light of God's peace stood 'mid sorrow and care
For Denmark's folk his comfort, a castle strong and fair;
In light of God's pure peace there shall once again be won
And thousand-fold increased, what seems lost now and undone.

In light of God's peace stands his patriarch-worth,
The sum and the amen of a manful life on earth.
In light of God's pure peace how his face shone, lifted up,
When white-haired at the altar he held th' atoning cup.

In light of God's peace came his word o'er the wave,
In light of God's pure peace sound the sweet psalms he gave.
In light of God's pure peace, as its sunbeam curtains fall
To hide him from us, stands now his memory for all.

Excerpt From Lamplight Symphony

On a winter's night, stars are cold and bright in the sky,
The slumber of the earth is pure and deep
From a distant wood, drifts the echo of a beast
The old man stirs and wakens in the night
He stands before his window gazing at the grave
Forgotten dreams are flashing through his weary mind
And though his life is empty, he pretends that she's still there
With hunger in his soul, he yearns for life and love gone by,
With memories his one and only joy
All he has to give, he would give to bring back the life,
And raise the one who lies beneath the snow
He lights a lamp and looks at pictures of the past
The faces of their youth still glow with new-found love,
But the picture's faded, and time has stolen youth away
With a spoken word that he thought he heard from her lips,
He felt another presence in the room,
He was filled with fear but filled with joy he arose
And turned to face the image that he knew
She stood before him and her hand reached out for his
A peaceful light shone in her eyes
She said she'd come to soothe him, and someday they'd be as one
She began to fade and her image disappeared,
So he was left alone to face the night,
Never in his life, had he been so held in awe,
As he faced the apparition of his wife
He stood before the window gazing at the grave,
And with a lightened heart he saw the first of dawn,
He knew that she was waiting, that someday they'd be as one

A Hymn

Eternal power of earth and air,
Unseen, yet seen in all around,
Remote, but dwelling everywhere,
Though silent, heard in every sound.
If e'er thine ear in mercy bent
When wretched mortals cried to thee,
And if indeed thy Son was sent
To save lost sinners such as me.

Then hear me now, while kneeling here;
I lift to thee my heart and eye
And all my soul ascends in prayer;
O give me - give me Faith I cry.

Without some glimmering in my heart,
I could not raise this fervent prayer;
But O a stronger light impart,
And in thy mercy fix it there!

While Faith is with me I am blest;
It turns my darkest night to day;
But while I clasp it to my breast
I often feel it slide away.

Then cold and dark my spirit sinks,
To see my light of life depart,
And every fiend of Hell methinks
Enjoys the anguish of my heart.

What shall I do if all my love,
My hopes, my toil, are cast away,
And if there be no God above
To hear and bless me when I pray?

If this be vain delusion all,
If death be an eternal sleep,
And none can hear my secret call,
Or see the silent tears I weep.

O help me God! for thou alone
Canst my distracted soul relieve;
Forsake it not -- it is thine own,
Though weak yet longing to believe.

O drive these cruel doubts away
And make me know that thou art God;
A Faith that shines by night and day
Will lighten every earthly load.

If I believe that Jesus died
And waking rose to reign above,
Then surely Sorrow, Sin and Pride
Must yield to peace and hope and love.

And all the blessed words he said
Will strength and holy joy impart,
A shield of safety o'er my head,
A spring of comfort in my heart.

Down in the dark

Down in the dark, it’s all in my head,
The pain the sorrow, all of the dread,

I want it to leave, but it wants to stay,
I try and I try, but he won’t go away,
There by day, there at night,
Saying the things, that fills me with fright,

I’m down in the dark, it fills my head,
The pain the sorrow, all of the dread,

He’s always around, lurking inside,
Watching; waiting, my hands are tied,
In my head, always near,
In my thoughts, building the fear,

Down in the dark, filling my head,
The pain the sorrow, all of the dread,

The pain; it grows, bursting within,
The dark; he’s back, with his terror filled grin,
“I’ll help”; he says, talking to me,
“I know what to do, just come and see, ”

Down in the dark, it filled my head,
The pain the sorrow, all of the dread,

My thoughts are violent, with sorrow in my chest,
I just close my eyes, and hope for the best,
He tells me good job, I’ll find the light,
But my life is ending, with the chill of the night.,

Dead in the dark, lost in my head,
No more pain or sorrow, not even dread….,

The Messenger

She rose up in the early dawn,
And white and silently she moved
About the house. Four men had gone
To battle for the land they loved,
And she, the mother and the wife,
Waited for tidings from the strife.
How still the house seemed! and her tread
Was like the footsteps of the dead.

The long day passed; the dark night came.
She had not seen a human face.
Some voice spoke suddenly her name.
How loud it echoed in that place,
Where, day on day, no sound was heard
But her own footsteps. 'Bring you word,'
She cried to whom she could not see,
'Word from the battle-plain to me?'

A soldier entered at the door,
And stood within the dim firelight;
'I bring you tidings of the four,'
He said, 'who left you for the fight.'
'God bless you, friend,' she cried, 'speak on!
For I can bear it. One is gone?'
'Ay, one is gone!' he said. 'Which one?'
'Dear lady, he, your eldest son.'

A deathly pallor shot across
Her withered face; she did not weep.
She said: 'It is a grievous loss,
But God gives His belovèd sleep.
What of the living-of the three?
And when can they come back to me?'
The soldier turned away his head:
'Lady, your husband, too, is dead.'

She put her hand upon her brow;
A wild, sharp pain was in her eyes.
'My husband! Oh, God, help me now!'
The soldier heard her shuddering sighs.
The task was harder than he thought.
'Your youngest son, dear madam, fought
Close at his father's side; both fell
Dead, by the bursting of a shell.'

She moved her lips and seemed to moan.
Her face had paled to ashen gray:
'Then one is left me-one alone,'
She said, 'of four who marched away.
Oh, overruling, All-wise God,
How can I pass beneath Thy rod!'
The soldier walked across the floor,
Paused at the window, at the door,

Wiped the cold dew-drops from his cheek
And sought the mourner's side again.
'Once more, dear lady, I must speak:
Your last remaining son was slain
Just at the closing of the fight,
'Twas he who sent me here to-night.'
'God knows,' the man said afterward,
'The fight itself was not so hard.'

The Tryst

I raised the veil, I loosed the bands,
I took the dead thing from its place.
Like a warm stream in frozen lands
My lips went wandering on her face,
My hands burnt in her hands.

She could not stay me, being dead;
Her body here was mine to hold.
What if her lips had lost their red?
To me they always tasted cold
With the cold words she said.

Did my breath run along her hair,
And free the pulse, and fire the brain,
My wild blood wake her wild blood there?
Here eyelids lifted wide again
In a blue, sudden stare.

Beneath my fierce, profane caress
The whole white length of body moved;
The drowsy bosom seemed to press
As if against a breast beloved,
Then fail for weariness.

No, not that anguish! Christ forbid
That I should raise such dead! I rose,
Stifled the mouth with lilies, hid
Those eyes, And drew the long hair close,
And shut the coffin lid.

My cold brow on the cold wood laid,
Quiet and close to-night we lie.
No cruel words her lips have said.
I shall not take nor she deny.
The dead is with the dead.

Ppr:kut (Cheapshot & Jubacca Feat. Rasco & Planet Asia)

Rasco]
Uh, yeah.
[Mike]
Why does it feel like night today, something in here's not right today
Why I am so uptight today, paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like to have a voice in the back of my head
Like a face that I hold inside, a face that awakes when I close my eyes Face that watches every time I lie, face that laughs every time I fall
and watches everything
So I know that when its time to sink or swim
The face inside is hearing me right beneath my skin
[Chester]
Its like I'm paranoid looking over my back
Its like a whirlwind inside of my head
Its like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
Its like the face inside is right beneath my skin
[Rasco]
Hey yo, here we go again with the pain I feel isn't real but in my mind
But I find myself in places with names, but not faces
My memory races at speeds hundred degrees
My soul it bleeds devil must have planted the seed
Now it feels like my backs against the wall, I'm taking the fall
Whenever I call nobody's responding at all
But I don't know who I could trust they screaming my name
I need somebody to help me out of the flame
[Planet Asia]
All I'm trying to do is just master me
all I want to do is smoke a blaster beat
but something keeps talking to me consciously
responsibly it keeps haunting me
From dusk till dawn
Everything has something for ya
That voice inside of your head got you projecting Paranoia
cold sweat shining on your face exposing your purpose and if I
ripped off your skin I'll probably find another verse
Its nothing worse than trying to bring yourself up back from the dead
so I advise you listen to that voice in the back of your head
[Chester]
Its like I'm paranoid looking over my back
Its like a whirlwind inside of my head
Its like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
Its like the face inside is right beneath my skin (2x)
[Mike]
The face inside is right beneath your skin (4x)
[Chester]
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
Its like Im paranoid..
I feel the light betray me
The sun...
[Mike]
Its like I'm paranoid looking over my back Its like a whirlwind inside of my head
Its like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
Its like the face inside is right beneath my skin (2x

The Doubter's Prayer

Eternal Power, of earth and air!
Unseen, yet seen in all around,
Remote, but dwelling everywhere,
Though silent, heard in every sound.
If e'er thine ear in mercy bent,
When wretched mortals cried to Thee,
And if, indeed, Thy Son was sent,
To save lost sinners such as me:

Then hear me now, while, kneeling here,
I lift to thee my heart and eye,
And all my soul ascends in prayer,
Oh, give me - give me Faith! I cry.

Without some glimmering in my heart,
I could not raise this fervent prayer;
But, oh! a stronger light impart,
And in Thy mercy fix it there.

While Faith is with me, I am blest;
It turns my darkest night to day;
But while I clasp it to my breast,
I often feel it slide away.

Then, cold and dark, my spirit sinks,
To see my light of life depart;
And every fiend of Hell, methinks,
Enjoys the anguish of my heart.

What shall I do, if all my love,
My hopes, my toil, are cast away,
And if there be no God above,
To hear and bless me when I pray?

If this be vain delusion all,
If death be an eternal sleep,
And none can hear my secret call,
Or see the silent tears I weep!

Oh, help me, God! For thou alone
Canst my distracted soul relieve;
Forsake it not: it is thine own,
Though weak, yet longing to believe.

Oh, drive these cruel doubts away;
And make me know, that Thou art God!
A faith, that shines by night and day,
Will lighten every earthly load.

If I believe that Jesus died,
And, waking, rose to reign above;
Then surely Sorrow, Sin, and Pride,
Must yield to Peace, and Hope, and Love.

And all the blessed words He said
Will strength and holy joy impart:
A shield of safety o'er my head,
A spring of comfort in my heart.

Angels

Me and some of the boys
Were sitting around the other night
Started talking about politics, religion
Love of life
And what a shame it was about 9-11
And what about Hell
And what about heaven
And is there or isn't there
Angels here on earth
And then one guy said
Well, you can take that for what it's worth
If it's somthing I can see or something I can touch
Hell, I might believe in all that stuff.
So, I just had to say to him
Are you telling me
You've never seen an angel
Never felt the presence
Of one standing by
No robe of white
No halo in sight
Well, you missed the most obvious thing
Man are you blind
Just look in your mother's eyes.
And then I said
Who went through the pain
And smiled through the tears on the day of your birth
She counted your fingers and toes
And thanked God you were whole
Son, you oughta know who loved you first.
That's right.
And who always came runnin'
Evertime you cried out
And how many more things have you forgotten about
And who tried their best
To teach you wrong from right
And how many night
Did she leave on the light
While she waited and prayed
Till you came in?
And who'll be there for ya
Right up to the end.
Think about it man.
Are you telling me
You've never seen an angel
Never felt the presemce
of one standing by
No robe of white
No holo in sight
Well. you missed the most obvious thing
Ah, man are you blind
Just look in your mother's eyes.
Ah, man are you blind
Just look un your mother's eyes.
That's right...
