Rituals That Appal
Cumbersome rituals appal the mind,
The wits are affected by this ritual.
The mind is troublesome to the eloquent speech,
One speaks loudest when affected.
The whole piety of a speaker is about,
Wanting the air of a seminary.
A doddering dwarf has reminded us
Of his walk in the holy region.
The rituals of his stupid speech
Are around the house of words.

Affected
[verse 1:]
I feel you looking at me thinking that my happiness
Is just a front and I still want you like I did back then
You walk around this town like
Youre somebodys king
But baby trust me there aint nothing that could
Make me hungry for you again
[hook:]
Im not affected youve been rejected
Written off my heart
There is no debt here to be collected
I dont want no part
How many times do I have to say it
You used to be smart
Im not affected youve been rejected
And I dont want no more
[verse 2:]
You used to walk and I got weak
I used to tremble from your speech
You used to get up in my head
When you crawled into my bed
You had me thinking stupidly
Like you and I would someday be
But thats just it baby, Im not affected by you baby
[hook]
[bridge:]
You dont make or break me baby
Maybe you just cant tell, Im not under your spell no more
Ive become immune to you.
You so used to running back but I wont let you do that
[hook]

If a university official's letter accusing a speaker of having a proclivity to commit speech crimes before she's given the speech - which then leads to Facebook postings demanding that Ann Coulter be hurt, a massive riot and a police-ordered cancellation of the speech - is not hate speech, then there is no such thing as hate speech.

In general, human societies are not innovative. They are hierarchical and ritualistic. Suggestions for change are greeted with suspicion; they imply an unpleasant future variation in ritual and hierarchy; an exchange of one set of rituals for another, or perhaps for a less structured society with fewer rituals. And yet there are times when societies must change.

Mr Speaker Gets The Word
Wriggles from his captors arms
Mr speaker gets the word and
Running now from the alarms
Speaks his mind free as a bird
Free now to roam around
Stand up straight when he quotes
Spread the word that he has found
Books of verse and scribbled notes
Mister speaker gets the word
(to tell the secrets he has heard)
Speaks so fast his words are slurred
(mister speaker gets the word)
Stands up straight outside my door
I bring you now the words Ive learned
To whom it may concern senor
Tell my friends I have returned
Mister speaker gets the word
(to tell the secrets he has heard)
Speaks so fast his words are slurred
(mister speaker gets the word)
Excitement rages through his brain
Stirred and stirred throughout the years
Not enough time to explain
Eyes of many sighs of fear
Making space from colney hatch lane
Just some poetry my friend
Scuttles past my window frame
Vanishes right round the bend
Mister speaker gets the word
(to tell the secrets he has heard)
Speaks so fast his words are slurred
(mister speaker gets the word)

Im Affected
When I look into your big brown eyes and I feel
Like Im in paradise. I want you by my side.
cause Im affected, fected
Yeah, Im affected, fected. well Im affected.
And all I want is you.
Didnt know it a few years ago, but now finally
Know. I want you by my side.
I want you baby, baby, baby, baby.
Yeah, I love you and I want you to know.
Yeah, yeah, and thats for sure I want you
By my side. cause Im affected, fected
Yeah, Im affected, well Im affected.
And all I want is you.

What the Significance of Having Them Means
The act of participating in rituals,
Has become more important...
Than why those rituals were established,
In the first place.
There are more today,
Planning vacations and escapades...
Around holidays they could care less,
Of what the significance of having them means.
You can,
If you wish...
Compare this to the event of birthing a child,
But having nothing to do with it after a certain age.

In the end, we are part of this region, and we are affected by its developments. What we may do or not do in the future depends on the nature of what happens here in the region.

Affected'!
They perceive themselves to be intelligent.
So they do their best to impress.
Expressing a kind of...
Hollowness.
And hints they have become,
'Affected'!
Without one sign,
That shows them to be basic.
Nothing to prove them to be grounded at all.
Not to anything of structured stability.
'Affected'!
Blinded by the blaze of pretension.
'Affected'!
That's what we use to call folks like that!
A tossed salad of deluded exclusiveness.
Harmless as well as annoying.
And difficult to keep respected.

Ritzy
The king's speech and the queen's words,
The aplause from the people to satisfy my muse;
But my mind is still on Ritzy my lover,
For the darkness was yesterday.
Today is the light and i am ready to share my love with you,
For my own car won the race last night and i am very joyful;
And ike Malaya roses in the garden of love,
But my mind is still on Ritzy my lover.
Whose, those, hose, nose, chose, dose horse;
Like the king's speech and the queen's words,
But my mind is still on Ritzy my lover.

Beauty is within the scale
A woman with dark skin still appeals
If she is in the region where all are dark.
So does a dwarf one among the dwarf
The background is pre-drawn in your mind

Whoever thinks that he alone has speech, or possesses speech or mind above others, when unfolded such men are seen to be empty.
Adjusting Again...
the mind keeps on saying
i am not affected,
the heart does not say it
but it is trembling
the body makes a compromise
takes a walk
the mouth whistles
the eyes see another place to go trying to please itself despite the pain.

Heads
Heads of government reside in prison,
Yesterday it mattered why their decision.
Heads of clubs in general do allow
One heart to be forsaken and anyhow.
I bow in front of the heads of our country
When they watch me on television finally.
A leader is again in his role as a speaker
Fitting in words that sound to deliver.
A speech like this sounds cruel
Yet my speech has been claimed abysmal.
Thanks to the heads and autocrats as well
For being so completely in love with hell.

Who is affected more when it's cold? Poor people. Who is affected more when it's hot? Poor people. Who is affected more when it's wet? Poor people. Who is most affected when the economy is bad? Poor people. Poor people are the most fragile.

Unconnected
Whether it is known or not,
Doesn't really matter...
Does it?
Who has been affected the most?
What feelings affected who's emotions?
And the one who uses this as gossip...
Will never know a comprehension,
Associated with a depth of thought!
They are there to be entertained,
Like the others.
And like the others who pass judgement...
It is what folks do who are unconnected!

Confession
Listen up
This is confession
This machine motion is sure to break my heart
Listen up
This is confession
Recorded music sticks in the throat of god.
I o u, you dont own me
I o u, you dont own me
Party time, one mor night, everybodys affected
Listen up
This is confession
You are a poison that flows into my veins.
Listen up
This is confession
Ive never been so scared of letting you down.
You know me, so come closer
You know me, so come closer
Party time, one more town, everybodys affected.
I know you, you dont need me
I know you, you dont need me
Party time, one more girl, everybodys affected
Listen up
This is confession
They tell me heaven just has to be somewhere
Listen up
This is confession
Id lie to God if I could make him believe.
You owe me, and I need you
You owe me, and I need you
Party time, one more game, everybodys affected
This is my confession
This is my confession
Party time, one more lie, everybodys affected

Vaanii
Vaanii
You spoke of ‘vaanii’ as that speech
that follows true perception
with exact expression
in that glorious inner sound
that’s followed into action..
intrigued, I took the dictionary from the shelf..
and it speaks of music..
like - I hear from memory -
that roadside stream accompanying your walk,
whose music – ever changing,
ever a continuance of the same –
speaks of its source among the wooded hills;
speaks of the beauties that it passed;
and of its destiny, in merging with salt sea;
as Saraswati, goddess of wise speech,
protected now within the deepest stone;
that music that the head hears and obeys in reason;
that music which the heart hears in the voice;
that music dancing in the graceful action:
unmistakeable as truth, it has a name:
vaanii.

Learning From Words
I learn sometimes in my sleep when I wink,
Or when I stand tall, suppressing only some of my thoughts.
To sit is learned; affected by love the soul weeps,
Fasting will occur as the soul weeps further.
My learning collapses when I am drunk
From liqueurs so sweet;
Or when I am drunk from the words I choose
The sweet wine of heaven seems to cascade.
On my head is a spell of magic
Taken from the arms of a priest so logical
In the way of his denomination.
I learn so well from him,
Rather than from wine or words of plain speech.
