National Unrest

Nations are made to rest on the heads,
The body carries the world when we listen;
This open slaughter worked all the time,
Doing a slight mistake, doing the punishment.
National fervour is about when you punish,
The death of some we work on the punishment.
Let dangerous men lurk in the shadows,
The idiocy is well commented on, well spoken.

The Slaughter

Towards the end of time,
My slaughter worked to unite
The peaceful nations.

I have to shave the beards of rational men,
Underneath the trees of fruit,
To beam on the loud voices.

This time my work never fell
Into ruins, the punishment arrived
And bought the goods of eternity.

An absolutely necessary part of a writer's equipment, almost as necessary as talent, is the ability to stand up under punishment, both the punishment the world hands out and the punishment he inflicts upon himself.

Ch 08 On Rules For Conduct In Life - Maxim 66

Whoever does not betake himself to the path of rectitude in consequence of the castigations of this world will fall under eternal punishment in the next. Allah the most high has said: And we will cause them to taste the nearer punishment of this world besides the more grievous punishment of the next.

Admonition is the address of superiors and then fetters.
If they give advice and thou listenest not, they put thee in fetters.

Time Will Tell

As time passes by,
I am fully aware
Of what I am missing
And I am imaging
That you are perfectly conscious
Of what you have lost...

Now I must let you know
That there is not crime
Without any punishment on Earth
And for trespassing my heart,
The worse punishment you can get
Is to live the rest of your life
Without me.
Only time will tell.

The principle inherent in the clause that prohibits pointless infliction of excessive punishment when less severe punishment can adequately achieve the same purposes invalidates the punishment.

No Lessons Learned

Death for causing death
You can't be lenient
A cold blooded slayer
Deserves capital punishment.
He snuffed out a life
With no hint of remorse
Extinguishing his life
Remains the only course.
He killed one
Still in its bud
Justice must be done
It bays for his blood.
The law takes its course
To the gallows he's sent
There's is no remorse
He deserved capital punishment.
Did it happen again?
Killing of an innocent?
It was no lesson
The capital punishment!

Be Ruthless The Law

Be punishment heavier than
The benefit caused by the wrong.
Be the punishment severer than
The pain caused by the crime.
Be the punishment double
For wrongs of the custodian of laws.
Ruthlessness is the characteristic
Of the law of enforcement.

The lesser of two evils.

Do gooders have done their best.
To end effective punishment.
Although their ideas fail the test.
Let criminals do as they please.

They’re well aware they’ll get away
with almost any kind of crime.
In the lawless world of today.
In my opinion it’s past time.

To reintroduce discipline.
The birch, the cat and yes the rope.
Society must redefine
soft options which cannot cope.

With those that choose to break the law
To other peoples detriment.
The only way is to restore
a healthy fear of punishment.

The general public would agree
to bring back corporal punishment.
Including the Death Penalty.
But can’t convince the government.

Who fear adverse publicity
and lack the moral fibre to
protect all of society.
Instead of favouring the few.

Who batten on the rest of us
Because the Government daren’t act.
Their arguments are spurious.
I see this as established fact.

Perhaps mine is a biased view.
I could be wrong I must confess.
The question which I put to you.
Do you agree: Say no or yes.

Death is not only an unusually severe punishment, unusual in its pain, in its finality and in its enormity, but is serves no penal purpose more effectively than a less severe punishment.

Sonnet- Set Right your Soul’s State Early

Each man is sinful, right within his head;
There is much sin that lurks around him too;
With time, his conscience becomes also dead;
What could his Angel-Guardian ever do?

There is much punishment within each one;
There is too punishment in world around;
Unless each man, his vices can but shun,
His sins will turn a mountain from a mound.

And when all earthly time given has gone,
Self-realisation comes in the end;
How could remorse and penitence be born?
Unless the grace of God comes as Godsend.

'Tis wise to not ignore one's soul till last;
There may not be time to make up for past.

No punishment has ever possessed enough power of deterrence to prevent the commission of crimes. On the contrary, whatever the punishment, once a specific crime has appeared for the first time, its reappearance is more likely than its initial emergence could ever have been.

One Rule For.............

One Rule For.....

Made a mistake,
Punishment she would take.
Broke the law,
A ‘fine' she bore!
Error on her part, oversight,
Defend as she might.
The P.M. backed,
She wasn't sacked.

She was wrong,
She should have gone.
Yet another example,
Yes another sample.
One rule for us, one for them,
That's the problem.

Rich and privileged 'get away' with it,
Poor and rest of us, never benefit.
On it does go,
Them and Us keep the status quo.! !

Death, Inevitable Death

Death, inevitable Death.
So now You come to show Your world,
Hence the blackened cloak – unfurled.
And peering down upon my form
– Bereft of pity – Your eyes of storm.

Death, inexorable Death.
‘When? ’ The only question out of Thee.
My dream retorts 'But ne’er for me! ’
But now awake, I bid you so –
My giving tears cry ‘Where to go? ’

Death, adamant Death.
You cast Your spell and guide me 'way,
For life and I have had our day.
And what of me? I prey You, tell!
Be glorious in Heaven or gnarled in Hell?

Death, ineluctable Death.
Oh wiry ghoul, I'm here to follow –
I leave my body grey and shallow.
‘Come! ’ You bid in thund’ring tones,
‘Beg farewell to shattered bones.’

It's Death Again

It's Death again - He's always there -
Watching, waiting - e'er the stare!
Every time I look behind
Or reach to pull the window blind,
I catch a glimpse of grubby hood -
A little clue to where he stood;
The glint of light that caught the scythe.
Perhaps if I could pay a tithe…
But O! no use, he'll never go.
The adamant phantom; don't you know
He will but wait until it's time
For me to hear His fateful chime? -
The toll that claims my destiny,
To Hail: 'You're next, it has to be…'

Just and Equal Punishment

Getting rid of the culprits,
Does little to undo those misdeeds done.
Assigning the crime doers,
To prison cells to get three meals a day...
Free cable and educational opportunities,
To rehabilitate back into a crazed society...
Is not just and equal punishment.

Just and equal punishment includes,
Being threatened by creditors on a daily basis.
Or being passed over for a raise,
As one's boss waves and drives away...
In a new Mercedes.

Just and equal punishment,
Is a stripping of one's respect and identity.
Not dollars stashed away collecting interests.
And kept as seed money to invest,
In the adding of more theft to the decadence.

Just and equal punishment,
Would be the trading of places...
With those that have been deceived.
And they do this until those victimized,
Have been satisfied.

In the spirit of Rumi - 29

O Caliphs of the world
who have executed so many saints
for daring to say that ‘I am God within myself’ –

If you yourselves are not God within yourselves,
then who are you to pronounce punishment
upon any other man?

And now, every man who carries
a sword, a dagger, bomb or gun
would think himself a Caliph,
messenger of the Lord…

how wrong they are.

Yet Allah, the great, the merciful beyond our understanding,
allows them to live on after their victims’ death - gives
a little time to know themselves
as the wheel of the potter, Destiny, turns for them,
before they return to Him
as clay to be reshaped in the Potter’s hands
or dry and crumble into dust.

What then is capital punishment but the most premeditated of murders, to which no criminal's deed, however calculated it may be, can be compared For there to be an equivalence, the death penalty would have to punish a criminal, who had warned his victim of the date at which he would inflict a horrible death on him, and who from that moment onward had confined him at his mercy for months. Such a monster is not encountered in private life.

Love Not Judge

The Lord wants not to judge us; God simply desires to love us.
He sent His Son for you and me, to a bloody hill called Calvary.
God had sent Jesus to that cross, for sinful men who were lost,
Where Jesus Christ died for all, taking the judgment for our fall.

He wants not to take your life, but give you one in Jesus Christ,
Who didn’t come to punish you, but to give you a life that’s new.
The reason why Christ was sent, was to receive our punishment.
On the cross Christ’s punishment, was in place of our judgment.

The Lord above is a Loving God, but His justice demands a rod,
One against the darkness of sin, and all enemies opposing Him.
Christ left His Eternal Light, to oppose the darkness of the night.
Christ had died for you and me, for us to live with God eternally.

It was God who loved us first, and in Christ offered us New Birth,
When we were but sinful dust, He had sent His Son to die for us.
And through His Son Jesus Christ, sinners go from death to life,
For at the time that God sent Him, we were still dead in our sin.

God will save you from all your sin, if you will only let Christ in,
If you let Christ into your heart, you will have a brand new start.
Then you will not fear His Rod, when you make Him your God,
You will instead reign with Him, when He judges death and sin.

Is It Really Justice or Just Revenge?

Is capital punishment justice or is it revenge?
This is the question that I want to defend.
Is it really justice if you have to kill someone?
Or is the killing of a being just for your fun?
Is a murder really justified if the culprit spends less time in jail?
If so then it seems capital punishment is just easy bail.

They should be punished and not given an out of jail card,
All capital punishment is doing is spending money, cold and hard.
Wanting them to die doesn’t seem like justice but revenge?
It leaves blood on your hands when there life ends.
Life is full of trials and tribulations this is a must,
But if you kill a man then it won’t make life any more just.

Justice is using authority to give a fair decree,
But intended death to a being doesn’t seem fair to me.
Revenge is to satisfy in retaliation,
But death’s your one hit wonder, one satisfaction.
So I will always choose the criminals to defend,
Leaving you with your decision: justice or revenge?
