Frightening Lady
Her name was of maturity in the snow,
Excitement, laziness and pride was correct;
And this afternoon she strolled across the falls
As the rocks beneath her emptied her tin and soul.
Like a tall woman the lady was afraid of the young dark,
In this watery place that stood out in rainbows and light;
Into the sea, in this ocean we spectacularly mean,
Little is done, little is explored while the dangers pass.
Her name was grand in the opening,
There was no particular danger, in this,
Losing me, and so fast, her hair stood out,
From the edge of the cliff, to frighten me.

Cold Hands From New York
I came down from albany to new york to find what Id been missin
I looked across the river to the city where the windows all stood glistenin
I stood listenin
Into a tunnel I did rise, like a grave inside, but I was young and able
When I came out the other end, ah through the smoke the winter light was feeble
Unreadable
I was optimistic though, a cabbie told me where to go
I thanked him
A face of white a face of brown, here a smile, there a look of danger
For a stranger
It was too unreal for me
I found no one who trusted me
There was no man could offer me
A cold hand from new york
Cold hands from new york
A voice within you cries wont someone please help me
Ill do the same for you one day
If you should ever pass my way and need me
I came down to live alone in new york the city of the living
There were fortunes at my feet but most of men were taking, none we giving
Or forgiving
Children ran and children played and roses grew in alleyways
I saw them
There were men who lived in style and others who had died where no one knew them
cause they couldnt win
There were parks where old men slept and dingy rooms where babies crept unwanted
Till I began to ask myself if there was hope or if it mattered what the did
Or if they lived
It was too unreal for me
I found no one who trusted me
There was no man could offer me
A cold hand from new york
Cold hands from new york
A voice within you cries wont someone please help me
Ill do the same for you one day
If you should ever pass my way and need me
I came down from albany to new york to find what Id been missin
I looked across the river to the city where the windows all stood glistenin
I stood listenin
There were prophets in the squares and people there who smiled and said forget it
There were lovers in the park and there was danger in the dark, I felt it
So afraid of it
There were preachers of the word and poets who were never heard
I heard them
There were those who would not try to learn the measure of the lie
Theyre livin
I heard a young musician play in a place where they paid you not to listen
I heard a woman scream for help while men stood by and offered their best wishes
Thats how it is
It was too unreal for me
I found no one who trusted me
There was no man could offer me
A cold hand from new york
Cold hands from new york
A voice within you cries wont someone please help me
Ill do the same for you one day
If you should ever pass my way and need me

Fragment
Moon of leaves,
Moon of the falling leaves,
To you I bring the slippers
of the sun.
That you may dance upon the
floor of sun,
My lady carries sun within her eyes.
Moon of the Unrevealed,
Moon of the gold-encrusted shield,
To you I bring the fragment
of my prayer.
Moon of the crinkled hair,
Tell me, will my lady yield
Eyes and mouth and breasts unsealed?
Will my lady yield?
Moon of the yellow streaked with red,
Moon that the sun would lead to bed,
Moon with the death's head
More than dead,
Why do you frighten the Goddess of Love,
Whose frail white fingers are moving above
The lover's white body lost in his love?
Moon, you are more than dead.
Moon of the ermine loist in the snow,
Moon of the frozen furbelow,
Moon of the nothingness here below,
Moon, you must go.
It is the Sun that tells you so-
Moon, you must go.
And I was dark beneath the moon,
And you were dark beneath the moon,
And we were dark beneath the moon.
Now I am gold beneath the sun,
Now you are gold beneath the sun,
Now we are gold beneath the Sun.

Call Of Love
I walked towards the ocean
As she began to roll and began to roar
Then she put in in a daze, I remembered today
As I thought of a woman, that I knew once before.
Her eyes where as deep as the ocean
Her soul as loving as the ocean is blue
Her skin as white, as the sand that night,
A statement, was never as true.
The breeze then went through my hair
As though as a woman was standing there,
She then touched my heart and kissed my lips,
At the ocean, I just stood and stared.
The ocean then took itself a form
Was a form to set myself and soul free
So then I closed my eyes and I fantasized
And then I accepted the ocean, inside of me.

I was afraid of the dark...
I was afraid of the Dark
When I was young
As if in its bosom
Waited some Satan from Meung.
It gave me goosebumps
Bristling hair on the neck
Dark was too dangerous a cliff, I thought
There my neck and soul would break!
Was it an Effrit?
Or some Genie?
Stroking its malignant beard in the dark
Whose name was being chanted by the cricket!
I was afraid of the Dark
But I grew bolder
Risking my Fear’s stability
For a walk in Life’s Park!
I am still afraid of the Dark
It is wedded to life itself
But I choose to walk on …and on
Though it’s short-lived –My courage’s spark!

Descry
I stood in a grand wood alone
whispering to God upon his throne:
' Is it truly true
nothing is more powerful
than magnificent You? '
Then, I stood by the great ocean
and whispered to God:
'Can You hear me above the roar?
How will You find me,
my footprints have washed away all along the shore? '
Finally, I stood upon the highest mountain top
and whispered to God:
'Can you see me now,
the mere speck that I am,
even just a glimpse, somehow? '
No reply came.
Not in words
I could hear.
No powerful voice
loud and clear.
I waited
'til the end
of day.
Then quietly, alone,
I simply walked away.
On my way home
travelling into the dusk,
a desert I did pass through
with a quiet and lonely
darkened view.
Nothing moved,
not a sound.
Except, for the slightest breeze
whisper wonders my way,
through the tops of a few scraggly trees.
I stoped
I looked
I stood.
Amazed at this wind
passing by through the twisted and bent woods.
It was at that moment
in the darkness,
at the edge of desolation, among the lowly trees,
that I became fully aware,
God is everywhere, even right here next to me.

Over The Falls
They broke out in laughter again,
His lip beaded with sweat as they strapped him in,
And he stood by and waited to be called.
The talk was of times that had gone by
And the quantity and quality of women they lie.
His eyes welled with wet and his mouth had gone dry.
As he stood by and waited to be called.
He stood by and waited to be called.
He stood by and waited like the others before
For his turn to go over the falls.
He got up and tried it again.
For lack of persistence is surely a sin.
As he stood by and waited to be called,
He looked to the lightning with glee
And admired his vessel for its symmetry,
Feeling twelve units shy of a bachelors degree.
As he stood by and waited to be called.
He stood by and waited to be called.
He stood by and waited like the others before
For his turn to go over the falls.

Hannibal's Oath
AND the night was dark and calm,
There was not a breath of air,
The leaves of the grove were still,
As the presence of death were there;
Only a moaning sound
Came from the distant sea,
It was as if, like life,
It had no tranquillity.
A warrior and a child
Pass'd through the sacred wood,
Which, like a mystery,
Around the temple stood.
The warrior's brow was worn
With the weight of casque and plume,
And sun-burnt was his cheek,
And his eye and brow were gloom.
The child was young and fair,
But the forehead large and high,
And the dark eyes' flashing light
Seem'd to feel their destiny.
They enter'd in the temple,
And stood before the shrine,
It stream'd with the victim's blood,
With incense and with wine.
The ground rock'd beneath their feet,
The thunder shook the dome,
But the boy stood firm, and swore
Eternal hate to Rome.
There's a page in history
O'er which tears of blood were wept,
And that page is the record
How that oath of hate was kept.

Treading Dangerously
When we embarked on this path together
Skies at sunrise and sunset seemed deeper
While our glowing shadows cowered in their blaze
Wary like the spring that's only heard of the winter
I ask the spring -Does the winter ever creep in?
It answers; - I don't know.
Then I realize a daunting question like a mountain stood
On our path, to surmount it, I tried to bridge things my way
At times even with coldness, but I stood rebuffed
Cause you stood on top of the hill in pride, nonchalant
I ask the mountain -Will you stand in my path again?
It answers: - I don't know.
Then I bowed to your ways and prayed
the mountain would go away; it did
but at the back of my mind it did raise it's head
Always looming in the horizon
I ask the horizon-Is it still there?
It answers; - I don't know
Now I was lost in the song of spring & the mirth of the rains
The mountain had lost its edge, yet afraid it's talons could hurt
I hid my dreams in your palm, afraid of being robbed
This was neither the place nor the time to reveal them
You shut your palms tight and shut out all the light
I groped in the darkness with only the stars that whisper
Clueless in the wind shimmering illusions
I waited for you to come through the dark end
And when I reached out I held no hand
Did I err? - I ask the night
It answers- I don't know.
I wait now for you, to throw crumbs my way
Living no moment, but dragging from one to the next
My trail of crumbs has come to an end
Both lost in the trail we made
I ask the trail -Will we find our way back?
It answers: I don't know.
The night is engulfed in darkness and the wind
Is drunk, losing it's head it threatens for blood
This is not the time to rock the seas or tempt fate
The storm is on us, tread carefully
As we wander, you blinded by pride, I by faith
Show yourself or let the seas engulf us
I ask the seas -Did we have to go through this?
It answers -I don't know.
On the trail unable to take one step towards each other
Have we taken a thousand steps away from each other?
The mountain again stood mighty in our path
I ask the trail-will we cross over?
It answers-I don't know.
After a tedious toil, you return holding my dreams
And seat your frail self on the trail
And eagerly look at me,
Holding you by the hand leading you on,
I answer-'Come! Mountain or no mountain,
If you think I can- I can'

Vision in White and Blue
The eyes, the blue, the smile
The skin, the hair
Those socks, prim, upright
Spectacularly beautiful; the blue, the pink
The breath, the ripples, the heart pounding
The arm, protective, the nibbling kisses
That short sleeved shirt; white
Spectacularly beautiful; the almost transparent, the so light brown
The mouth, the saliva, the other's mouth
The exchange, the lips
The spit; dripping down
Spectacularly beautiful; the red, the pink
The white, the hand, shy, the delicate nod
The revelation, the shiver
Sleek; strokes as satin
Spectacularly beautiful; the pure white, the pink
The rhythm, the fingers, the dance
The music, the twisted lip
Faster, relentless, the smile
Spectacularly beautiful; the blue, the pink

Lourdes 2006
Jimmy opened his suitcase in the room
at Lourdes and said Oh no there's molasses
all over the clothes and shoes and I've got
a whole week here and he sat down in a chair
his head in his hands saying What have I done?
What am I going to do for clothes now? you
went over and looked in and sure enough
the molasses were over his clothes and shoes.
What am I going to do? he said and you said
Leave it to me Jim I'll sort it and you went through
the clothes taking out the items untouched
by the molasses and set them aside on the bed
and then carried the suitcase of black sticky items
Into the washroom and there one by one you carefully
washed them through with soap and water until
they were clean and smelt of soap and fresh air
and all the while 94 year old Jim sat in a chair
watching with his eyes watery and jaw hung loose
seeing the black water run down the wide plughole
and once it was done you wrung the clothes out
like your mother used to do when you were a kid
and hung them out on the balcony on the small
clothesline and placed the washed out black shoes
by the outside wall to dry out in the hot afternoon
sun and Jimmy came over and stood on the balcony
with one hand on the rail and the other on his stick
looking over at the Pyrenees in the distance and he
said That was real good of you. I owe you big time
and you stood next to him feeling the hot afternoon
sun on your face and arms and felt good and you
said You owe me nothing Jim I just did what some
good guy would and his watery eyes swept over you
matching the French sky's watery afternoon blue.

In The Swimming Pool In The Park
Your sister called her
the girl in the red beret
and there she was
in the outdoor
swimming pool
in the park
her gran sitting
in the stands knitting
and Janice saw you
and said
Fancy seeing you here
can you swim?
You stood
in the shallow end
of the pool
in your blue trunks
looking at her wet fair hair
clinging to her body
and her eyes bright
in the sun's afternoon light
No not so far
you replied
I can
she said shaking water
from her hair and head
I can swim the length
and back almost
you looked over
at Jimmy in the pool
talking to friends
she touched your hand
and said
I can show you
how to swim
and she smiled
and you felt her hand
on yours and hoped
Jimmy wasn't looking
seeing her touch you
Maybe another time
you said
pulling your hand away
and plunging it
into the water
I've got to go
you said
my friends
are waiting for me
and she looked at you
her eyes now sad
and she said softly
No stay with me
I like it
when you are near me
and she stood there
in her pink swimsuit
her hair sticking
to her face
her eyes watery and blue
and gazing hopefully
(the noise and laughter
from the pool
momentarily shut off)
at seven year old you.

The Storm
Mark vi. 47-51.
Fear was within the tossing bark,
When stormy winds grew loud;
And waves came rolling high and dark,
And the tall mast was bowed.
And men stood breathless in their dread,
And baffled in their skill;
But One was there, who rose and said
To the wild sea, 'Be still!'
And the wind ceased - it ceased - that word
Pass'd through the gloomy sky;
The troubled billows knew their Lord,
And sank beneath His eye.
And silence settled on the deep,
And silence on the blast,
As when the righteous falls asleep,
When death's fierce throes are past.
Thou that didst rule the angry hour,
And tame the tempest's mood,
Oh! send Thy Spirit forth in power,
O'er our dark souls to brood!
Thou that didst bow the billows' pride,
Thy mandates to fulfil -
So speak to passion's raging tide,
Speak, and say, 'Peace, be still!'

Tall, Dark Handsome Stranger
Im so tired of these men trying to
Impress me with nothing
The same old routine and the smooth
Fancy talking
Now I know and believe that I found
It for real
cos youre good and youre kind and
You care how I feel
I had a tall dark handsome stranger
Ive had the devil in disguise
Ive been attracted to the danger
But I was never satisfied
And I know what I like
And I like what I see in your eyes
Youre so beautiful
Ive been pushed Ive been pulled
Ive been put out and trod on
Just by taking my chances I finally
Caught on
When I see in your eyes all the love
Shining through
Im so glad I held out for somebody
Like you
I had a tall dark handsome stranger
Ive had the devil in disguise
Ive been attracted to the danger
But I was never satisfied
And I know what I like
And I like what I see in your eyes
Heaven must have sent you I know
Youre so good to me
I feel good with you
Id be such a fool to let you go
Theres something about you
I cant live without you
Ive had fast talking good looking men
At my door
Now Im a wiser woman than I was before
I had a tall dark handsome stranger
Ive had the devil in disguise
Ive been attracted to the danger
But I was never satisfied
And I know what I like
And I like what I see in your eyes
I had a tall dark handsome stranger
Ive had the devil in disguise
Ive been attracted to the danger
But I was never satisfied
And I know what I like
And I like what I see in your eyes

Danger
There is danger atop our heads;
There is danger around us all;
There is danger beneath our feet;
There is danger to man and beast!
There is danger in the skies;
There is danger in the seas;
There is danger ev’n on land;
There is danger to man and beast!
There is danger from earth’s bowels;
There is danger in forests;
There is danger in hills, vales;
There is danger to man and beast!
There is danger from our brethren;
There is danger from kith, kin;
There is danger from strangers;
There is danger to man and beast!
There is danger within us;
There is danger from space;
There is danger to our soul;
Nevertheless, God protects us.

Parody Of Daffodils
A parody of daffodils
I wander'd lonely as a shark,
That roams the ocean deep and wide,
When all at once I saw a shoal,
Of little fishes trying to hide,
Around the rocks, beneath the reef,
Quivering with fear as they saw my teeth.
Continuous as the stars that shine,
Reflecting on the ocean’s swell,
They darted from their hiding place,
I rushed amongst them, jaws like hell,
And sent them to their watery graves,
Whilst above me rolled the waves.

One Woman
There've been hard times all around me
I just can't seem to see the light of day.
I need one chance to get away
Before the darness falls upon me.
I need someone to comfort me
When I can't deal with the pain
Somebody to stand by me.
CHORUS
I need one woman
With the same soul as my own.
I need one woman
We can find our way back home.
If I lose my mind, who will find it?
If I draw a line, I'm gonna cross it today.
There must be one place my spirit's free
If my soul could only find it.
I'm alone in a cold dark place
But there's light on the other side.
Just wait 'till I get my self free, I'll find me
CHORUS 2
One woman
With the same soul as my own.
I need one woman.
No I can't do this alone.
I need one woman
With the same soul as my own.
Give me one woman
We can find our way back home.
Turn around
Take a step and turn around.
Turn around
Move ahead and turn around.
It's never too late to turn around.
Don't wanna wait no longer for

“Lucky Larry” (A Tale of Lost Love)
It was 'High Mesa' country,
A place between two worlds,
Once explored by Hernan Cortes,
During his quest for fame & fortune;
Larry stumbled onto a hidden temple,
He entered...
Deep within stood an altar of stone,
An eerie glow filled the chamber,
Atop the altar two orbs hovered,
Reaching for the one nearest,
Eager hands encircled a golden orb,
He filled at once with feelings of love
A vision flashed through his mind;
Two young lovers stood before him,
But he saw only the beautiful maiden,
Auburn hair, bottomless brown eyes,
A smile that made Angels’ blush,
Pulling the orb close to his chest,
It happened…
As if a fine mist, the orb disappeared within him,
Ignoring the second orb he ran from the temple,
He must have the body of this precious soul,
For God had smiled this day on “Lucky Larry”
Within a short time he found, wooed & they wed
Larry knew not, he’d broken a sacred bond;
Abandoned forever…the second soul,
Left to wander aimlessly, sad & lonely,
His only comfort…
Was knowing that when his body released him,
Twin-souls would reunite once again,
In a place between two worlds.

A 'Brand New' You
Stood, browsing, in a bookshop, I heard someone call my name;
I recognised the person, but, somehow, she didn’t seem the same.
Apart from the fact that, she had changed the colour of her hair,
It was almost like looking at a whole new person, standing there.
She told me that, for our old company, she worked no longer.
Her spirit seemed enthused; her soul appeared much stronger.
Around her, glowed a much brighter and more positive aura;
Obviously, a change of scenery has done an awful lot for her.
I saw new maturity and wisdom in her pretty, youthful face.
I think, within her life’s journey, she’s now in a better place.
I almost couldn’t believe it was the same girl, stood before my eyes;
That she had changed so much, in such a short time, I felt surprised.
She seemed happier, healthier; her face was all aglow;
Very different from the young girl, who I used to know.
I can’t quite remember exactly when I saw her last,
But I’d say that, about twelve months have passed.
I think, once you are finally free from a depressive atmosphere,
You feel far more relaxed, and your heavy heart, fills with cheer.
It’s almost as if her whole personality, had been wrapped in tape,
But from those oppressive restraints, she has managed to escape.

No One Wants to Admit They Have Been That Foolish
We must stop blaming those,
Who led us to the edge of this cliff.
It is more appropriate,
To hold the ones now...
Desiring to be accountable,
For attempting to climb down safely...
As if those responsible did not exist.
Isn't this the idealistic point of view?
No one wants to admit they have been that foolish,
To skip gleefully towards an approaching danger.
To do so would mean stupidity had been involved.
And those feasting without eyes opened...
Have to blame someone new,
For a changing of venue on the menu.
Whoever is in the kitchen will be the one who will do.
Isn't that what making excuses are meant for?
To eliminate one's exposed incompetence?
And accuse the one using the correct ingredients.
But deciding too late,
The one with the best credentials...
Also wants us to wash our own plates.
'Oh no.
Who does he think he is?
He has to go.'
But...
What about the cliff?
'What cliff?
We'll continue to pretend it doesn't exist.

Knowing
There is a danger of knowing too much
knowing too much danger
Crossing a road without looking
Taking a risk with your cooking
A danger in knowing
There is a danger in knowing too much
Having digitalised lives
synched to computer
GOOGLED
There is a danger
Is there a danger in knowing?
Too much danger?
Too much knowing?
Too much?
we have/are becoming
More like a shopping mall
Packed full of brands
And gadgets
our apps additives
There is a danger of losing your child
In a shopping mall
Losing your self
In the underground
A danger in knowing
A danger in looking
The sign
The times
Are a changing
A danger of unseeing
Unliving
A danger of touching the edge of extinction
Without feeling
Bottled emotions
Formaladehyde Brains
Mask for a face
Stone for a heart
There is on a lighter note
A danger in eating my cooking
Knowing too much
Too soon
Too late
or a danger of knowing nothing
Simply eating what's arrived on your plate
