Kuzeyli Rüyalar
Gün doğuşunda gel Kuzeyden
Şile beyazı askılı akşamları giyinip
Bekliyor olacağım verandasında ayrılığın
Giyotine göndermek için
Günahkar pişmanlıklarımı bir bir
Söz
Gün doğarken gel
Yeter ki gel
Kuzeyden
Rem
Yerinden kopuk rüyalarımın
Kaçak seyyahı
Acıtıyor biletsiz girişlerin
Kavuruyor bedenimi Jeannne d'Arc alevi
Her gece aynı yerde peydahlanıp
Ama sen
Gelmelisin Kuzeyden
Taç yapıp papatyaları
Yağmurlar gözlerimde üşürken
Bıraktığın yerdeyim
Havaalanında
Unutulan bir valizin içinde
Ya da düette
Serengeti aslan kükremelerine
Massai Mara çöllerinde
Ne fark eder?
Buradayım işte
Ama gelmelisin
Herşeye rağmen
Kuzeyden
İçimde Niagara gibi
Akarken derinliklere
Ama
Mutlaka
Mutlaka
Kuzeyden
Beyazlar içinde…

Gina
Gina'ya yazmıyorum aylardır
Eski günlerin hatrına demişti Rafael
Hiç olmazsa eski günlerin
Kaç kalem eskitti bu dil, kim bilir?
Tüketti mürekkep duygusal hokkamı
Yazamadım
Kafaları çekip Franco'nun barında
Şiirden, sanattan laflardık,
Music box'ta Eagles, sonra Ajda
Yakıp geçmemişti henüz
Genç kızdı iri gözlü Gina
Yıllar sonra o büyüdü
Ben küçülmeye başladım
Saçlarımda, yüzümde
Zaman değil, cesaretim olmadı söylemeye
Kaç kez kaldık başbaşa, ama anlamalıydı
Anlamalıydı her kaçırdığımda
Kalçalarına endeksli gözlerimdeki utancı
Şimdi pişman mıyım? Bilmem
Evlendiği gün, ağlamıştım gizlice
Mutsuz olur diye
Teselliydi alın çizgilerim
Roma sokaklarından yalpalaya yalpalaya
Yürüdüm Vatikan'a zom
Katedral duvarlarını dönüştürmek için ağlamaya
Bir el dokundu omzuma dostça,
Gam çekiyordu hıçkırıkları Rafael'in
Döndüm başladığım yere
Queens'deki kümese
Yarım kalan romanımda
Yüzüme bakmadı aksiliğimden
Kırıp attım daktilomu çöpe
Aylar sonra,
Yağmurlu bir gece çalındı kapım,
Yoğun bakımda, kocası dövmüş dedi Albert
Zaman benim, ben it'in peşinde
Olgunlaştı öfke dolu dizeler kaderimde
Ve, pis bir pansiyonda buldum
Gözümü kırpmadım alnından vurdum
O nedenle yazmıyorum Gina
Zaman uzun, parmaklıklar ardında...

Hayal Kirikligi Sitmalari
Hayal kırıklığı
Sıtması tutuyor sık sık
Kalmak istemediğim halde bu şehirde
Oysa
Kaybettiğimi bile bile
Aynı filme giriyorum hep
Sonu farklı biter diye
Suare'de
İçimdeki sinemaların
Hoş kokulu fuayelerinde kaldı
On dakikalık aralarım
Aralıksız
Aralıksızdı ayrılırken
Gözbebeğimin tatlı ninnileri
Kulaklarımda
Kulağıma
Melankolik küpeler ısmarlayan
İmitasyon fısıltılar
Gitmeliyim
Cebimde bir tomar yılgınlıkla
Efkarımı ateşe verip bu kentten
Yırtarak bütün sinema biletlerini
Köprü çıkışı
Islat
Maviliklerimi İstanbul!
Kükre yedi tepesinden
Ki
Dönmesin içimdeki aslan geri
Lakin bilirim ya
Dişlerinde değil ecel
Öfkemde ölür dilim
Peşimden gelirse
Müzmin sıtmalarım...

Louis Aragon'la Telepati
Duyuyorum sesini Aragon
Bağırma lütfen!
Biliyorum
Tahta at'lardan inmeliyim artık
Asıp burjuva takıntılarımı
Çırılçıplak çarmıha
Kesmeliyim Mona Lisa'da
Çıkan bıyığı
Da Vinci uyanmadan
Üç memeli kadın resimleri
Çizemiyorum Aragon
Acıtıyor dudağımı her ısırışta
Teresa'nın memelerindeki yangın
Ne zaman kalçalarında gezinse ellerim
küf kokuyor
Üşüyor tuvalimdeki
Kadın
Sürrealist bir şiir yazmak istiyorum
Kazınsın öldüğümde mezar taşıma
Son dizeleri
Ve
Solurken azabı
Dadaist meftalar ayakucumda
Sultan-ı yegah'ı fısıldasın karıncalar
Picasso'ya akapella
Benden
Çekiliyor
Gözlerimdeki simetri
Katlanamıyorum Aragon
Olasılıklar olabildiğince sert
Ve keskin
Büyük mastürbasyoncu gibi
Aforoz'un eşiğinde sanki
Kırmızı çizgilerim
Ki
Son akşam yemeği'ne paha biçilmezken
Müze lokantasında
Gerçeküstücülük hayal olmamalı
Dar beyinlere vurup kazmayı
Sürrealist metrolar açmalı
Neo-estetik steplerinde insanlığın
Haksızmı yım?
Birşey söyle Aragon
Ya da şiire son dizeyi
Ölümsüz kalemin yazsın…

I fly away from Tanzania
I fly away from Tanzania
and as the plane turns
over Dar es-Salaam,
I see the statue
of the black man
breaking his chains
and I wonder
who is really free
in a land of poverty?
The sea is dark blue
and a flotilla of small boats
are carrying tobacco, coffee
and cotton to ships
in the deeper water.
The great country
stretches out under the plane
and the massai mara planes
looks as if it goes on
into infinity
and I plan to visit
the Serengeti National Park,
to go to Zanzibar
and to climb mount mount Kilimanjaro
when I return
Three weeks of erecting cell phone towers
flew past in a blink of a eye
and I am going home again
and the Nyasa Lake
passes like a blue sea
under the plane.
Johannesburg international is hot
and it’s the beginning of spring
and the Wimpy has got
cheap burgers
and bottomless Coke
and I drink
as if coming out of the desert
and it’s great to be back
in my own country again.

Ave Maria No Moro
Ave maria no morro
(written by herivelto martins and m. salinas)
(arranged and performed by scorpions)
Ave mara, ave mara
Aunque no tenga capilla, reza la gente sencilla
Ave mara
All se escucha, al fin del da una plegaria, ave mara
All se escucha, al fin del da una plegaria
Ave mara, ave mara
Aunque no tenga capilla, reza la gente sencilla
Ave mara

I Dreamt I Was In Africa
I dreamt I was in Africa neath Serengeti sky
I heard the wild dogs barking, the spotted hyenas cry,
I heard the male lion roaring his anger pierced the night,
I dreamt I was in Africa neath African moonlight.
The elephants were trumpeting on Serengeti plain,
The sun dried grass all eaten the parched earth cried for rain,
The wildebeest and zebra had wandered far away
And Serengeti silent in the searing heat of day.
I dreamt I was in Africa the drought was at an end
The thunder and the lightning And rain came with the wind,
The ponds and rivers flooded, the once parched plains now green
And widebeest and zebra in thousands to be seen.
The moon shines in the heavens and the hunting jackals bark
In Tanzania in East Africa in Serengeti National Park
The grazing hippos grunting and the wild hyenas scream
And I was in East Africa if only in a dream.

Niagara
I
Within the town of Buffalo
Are prosy men with leaden eyes.
Like ants they worry to and fro,
(Important men, in Buffalo.)
But only twenty miles away
A deathless glory is at play:
Niagara, Niagara.
The women buy their lace and cry: —
"O such a delicate design,"
And over ostrich feathers sigh,
By counters there, in Buffalo.
The children haunt the trinket shops,
They buy false-faces, bells, and tops,
Forgetting great Niagara.
Within the town of Buffalo
Are stores with garnets, sapphires, pearls,
Rubies, emeralds aglow, —
Opal chains in Buffalo,
Cherished symbols of success.
They value not your rainbow dress: —
Niagara, Niagara.
The shaggy meaning of her name
This Buffalo, this recreant town,
Sharps and lawyers prune and tame:
Few pioneers in Buffalo;
Except young lovers flushed and fleet
And winds hallooing down the street:
"Niagara, Niagara."
The journalists are sick of ink:
Boy prodigals are lost in wine,
By night where white and red lights blink,
The eyes of Death, in Buffalo.
And only twenty miles away
Are starlit rocks and healing spray: —
Niagara, Niagara.
Above the town a tiny bird,
A shining speck at sleepy dawn,
Forgets the ant-hill so absurd,
This self-important Buffalo.
Descending twenty miles away
He bathes his wings at break of day —
Niagara, Niagara.
II
What marching men of Buffalo
Flood the streets in rash crusade?
Fools-to-free-the-world, they go,
Primeval hearts from Buffalo.
Red cataracts of France today
Awake, three thousand miles away
An echo of Niagara,
The cataract Niagara.

Waterfall
I felt the mist
for I'd been kissed
by the Niagara waterfall.
I heard its sound
which wrapped around
and made me feel so small.
I saw the scene
and was caught between
the beauty of it all.
I close my eyes
and still realize
the Niagara will always fall.

Mara
A dry leaf scrapes across dry clay
giving Mara's game away.
The clock cuts into hours each day
to keep Eternity at bay.
Eternity outwaits the clock
and Mara's game is back on track.
The master-key clicks shut the lock
which stops the clock from turning back.
Leaf and clay must
meet in dust.
(And Mara's game is back on track.)

Blondin Walking The Tightrope
Everyman is Blondin,
Every lifetime a rope,
finer than a spider's thread,
sharper than a sword,
stretched between birth and death
(breath and breath)
across Niagara.
(Charles Blondin, a French acrobat, was the first man ever to cross Niagara Falls by tightrope in 1859.)

Mara
I am your own flesh and blood and,
Like one of the seventy sons of Yerubaal;
But your kinfolk came in and sacked me,
So go and tell this young woman that i love her.
It is like the memories of you and i,
And like anarmed man of war!
But i see no guns around you my love.
Oh, how the wind came and whispered your name to me;
For you are called Mara in the land of love and,
All the roses of love do kiss you.
Hip and thigh,
I am now seeking for your protection;
For we are both not yet married and,
The summer blues is all around us.
He was unmarried and i am not,
But the violence and the ruthless people do sing;
And with the sincerity of my heart to love you,
For i will always come to you with my love.
You can still pass on a righteous gene,
For it is a great joy to hear from you;
And it is a great joy to know you oh Mara.
Unlawful lust and sexual sins,
And of the four thousand year period with a malak;
But you are Mara in the land of love and,
You know the right from the worng on this earth.
