In The Museum

Quite something it was to see
how in the museum, around the famous image
by Monet, the poet of waters, running and still,
the Master of Givenchy, painter of green-running rivers,
yellow arches of bridges, wands of yellow willows
trailing their tips in the water's depths;
star-flowers sitting squarely a-squat flat pads
stems cork-screwing down into the water's velvety dark
above eel-grass undulant in swales below the current's jade,
shadows and reflections everywhere, mystery compounding,
shadows and glints of color there and here
the outcome and culmination of time spent
in the shrewd, impassive, life-long observance of Nature-
observance being essentially an act of worship-
taking time and reams of patience to begin to refine;
reflections that hint at the mind of the Creator,
reflections that make for the highest end of living,
reflections that poultrice the insult of living itself,
unburdened by any cloying bourgeois 'should'-
water, air.....

The Pike

In the brown water,
Thick and silver-sheened in the sunshine,
Liquid and cool in the shade of the reeds,
A pike dozed.
Lost among the shadows of stems
He lay unnoticed.
Suddenly he flicked his tail,
And a green-and-copper brightness
Ran under the water.

Out from under the reeds
Came the olive-green light,
And orange flashed up
Through the sun-thickened water.
So the fish passed across the pool,
Green and copper,
A darkness and a gleam,
And the blurred reflections of the willows on the opposite bank
Received it.

An antique ornament

Reflections in an antique ornament
Of lights of green and reds
Of silver tinsel, candy canes
Distorted reflections of children’s heads

Reflections in a kitty cat’s eyes
Of red and green, and mischievous delight
In the feline notion of newfound highs
Of a tree he’ll scale tonight

Reflections of brightly wrapped presents
Piled atop folds of faux-snow cotton
Of pine needles shedding amber essence
Creating memories ne’er to be forgotten

Reflections of a time worn sofa
Reflections of a husband and wife
Reflecting on that antique ornament
And the antique ornament…reflecting life

That Face

I see a face that face is mine
The mirror marks the changing time
Her face Ill never see again
And mine will never be the same
That face was fine only yesterday
My problems seemed so far away
Reflections I see of myself
As in sickness as in health
As she left as for worse
No chance to re-rehearse
Try to forget try not to see
Who is that face looking at me
Reflections of yesterday
If only I could make you stay
One day past is like a year
She wouldnt say what made her leave
I didnt think shed ever go
And why she did Ill never know
I wish I could return and see
But now its just a memory
Reflections of yesterday
Reflections of yesterday
I see a face that face is mine
The mirror marks the changing time
Her face Ill never see again
And mine will never be the same
Reflections of yesterday
Reflections of yesterday

Your mind is like water in a pond

Observe the water in a pond
Keep it still and particles will sediment to ground
Only then the surface becomes transparent and clear
Our reflections we can view without a blur

When wind blows and creates waves on the surface
Those sediments will be stirred up and make the water opaque
Then the water surface is no longer transparent and clear
And our reflections in it will become just blurs

Our mind is like water in that pond
Only when still and calm it can be clear and strong
If we let external forces disturb our still and calm mind
By those things we will be controlled and beguiled.

Reflections

Through the mirror of my mind
Time after time
I see reflections of you and me
Reflections of the way life used to be
Reflections of the love you took from me
I'm all alone now
No love to shield me
Trapped in a world that's
a distorted reality.
Happiness you took from me
and left me alone
with only memories.
Through the mirror of my mind
Through these tears that I'm crying
Reflects the hurt I can't control
Cause although you're gone
I keep holding on
to the happy times
ooh when you were mine
AS I peer out through the window
of lost time
Looking over my yesteryear
And all this love I gave all in vain
(all the love) All the love I've wasted
(all those tears) All the tears that I've tasted
(ooh ,ooh) All in vain
(all in vain , till nothing remains)
Through the hollow of my tears
I see a dream that's lost
From the hurt
That you have caused
Everywhere I turn
seems like everything I see
Reflects the love that used to be
In you I put all my faith and trust
and right before my eyes my world has turned to dust
After all those nights I sat alone and wept
Just a hand full of promises and all that's left of loving you
Reflections of
the way life used to be
Reflections of
the love you took from me
in you I put all my faith and trust
right before my eyes my world was turned to dust
Reflections of...

Sheer Egoism at Ramasola

Who else would not love his own image?
Even the crude Narcissius loved himself
in a pool of water.

We feed and worship our image
from the crude shadows in the still waters
to the bright reflections of the silver mirrors
and to the wise manipulations over the lenses
of the camera men.

We pose and change suits
giggle at the transfer of life
into the shiny papers and borrowed colors,
tailor our dead sizes,
enlarge these still-pictures
in frames and hang them on walls.

We pay the high cost of joy
of our tailored image
stamped on papers and tucked on wood,
kissed by glasses and adhesives.

And never will the price alter
the rising and ebbing tide
of the ego`s worship
to our own human form.

Reflections

I sometimes have cyrstal clear reflections of you
The things you would often say,
or the actions you would do
I can still hear the songs you use to sing also
hum too
These are just a few of the ways
that Iam reminded of you
You often informed me,
That a new beginning would come
You also said that only when the people really
Demanded change, then it would be done
I have so many reflections that are filled with just simple fun,
of games we played that you also won.
These vivid reflections symbolizes hope
They serve as healing when I really need it most.

Danse des Nympheas

(dedicated to Ms. Gitti Pirner, a talented pianist)

J'ai mis du temps à comprendre mes nympheas
water lilies
iris, willows
a little estate
in the country
a water garden

how magical
revelation
model
vision
pond

sensitivity
suggestive
at times fluid
a flow of colors
sometimes sigh

landscapes
reflections
obsession
far beyond
conveying

the mirror of water
the motif's essential
constantly being modified
by changing sky reflected in it
imbues it with life and movement

from one minute
to the next minute
they are all merely
the accompaniments
effect varies unceasingly

a stream
a garden
I love water
I love flowers
no boundaries
Un paysage ne vous imprègne pas en un jour

The Tree of Waking Life

The tree that says with elation,
'I think I'll fly instead.
Although there's but water in my roots
to last me through the day,
today will be the finest day
I've ever seen or heard of.'
Is the tree I sing my ode to,
The Tree of Waking Life.

The tree upon whose branches
I am so tempted to rest,
but it laughs and calls me foolish,
and gives but one suggestion.
'Men are not meant to be reflections,
but forms of their very own.
Not shadows of their fathers,
but explorers of this stone.'

The tree that will die
from its curious internal lust,
and will curl a fulfilled smile
across its bark encrusted lips,
and sleep as a child with steady mind,
The Tree of Waking Life.
The tree that says with elation,

'I think I'll fly instead.
there is but water in my roots
to last me through the day,
but today will be the finest day
for I will fly today.'

Is the tree I sing my ode to,
The Tree of Waking Life.

The tree upon whose branches
I am so tempted to rest,
but it laughs and calls me foolish,
and gives but one suggestion.

'Men are not meant to be reflections,
but forms of their very own.
Not shadows of their fathers,
but explorers of this stone.'

And as the sun begins to set
and its leaves begin to wilt
when its too weak to control its flight
it will sleep the sleep of a pleasant child
the Tree of Waking Life.

4. Elements – Water

Water an elemental
Water a fundamental
Building block of life
Water of Life
Water of Death

Water in all religions
Water in all living things
Water in all countries
Water also used for barter

No life without water
No rife with water
No respect for water
Willful neglect of water

Water, for cooking
Water, for cleaning
Water, for drinking
Water, for living
Water, for dying

Water is the same
In all languages
Water is the same
To all living beings

Indian Reflections

The tiger waded further on,
He had some place to go,
Somewhere to be, where sunlight shone,
So bright as if aglow!
Not here, while waters gently stream,
Reflections here and there,
Confusing him, as in some dream,
That caught him unaware...

The river's mud stirred up and swirled,
Reflections came and went,
Such that he strode a worried world,
His time there almost spent...
While bubbles surfaced now and then
To pop and disappear!
Such wonders were beyond his ken,
The kind he needn't fear...

The tiger looked back one last time,
Content that he must leave,
Although at first it felt sublime,
He saw no cause to grieve...
The river would be here next week,
Upon his glad return!
For now, his feet dry land would seek...
His legend he must earn!

I Need Water

Scorching hot summer’s day
Devastation struck on our holiday.
Water, water running out
No more water left about.
Where is water?
What to do?
Stressing, thirsty, hungry too.
Need a shower!
Need a drink!
But there is no time to think.
Running, running to the store
“No more water” written on the door.
I need water, but there’s none,
Definitely not having fun.
Feeling dirty!
Feeling sick!
Needing something so basic.
Water, water I need you
Then I’ll be as good as new.
Water, water always there,
Once it’s gone we’re made aware
Wasting water is not right
Now it’s gone I’ve seen the light.
I need water to survive
I’m lucky to be alive!

At the fountain in the ranges

Something stirred below the water
of a pool,
where a fountain splashes in.

There was no wind
and the long grass was motionless
and the branches of a sugar bush,
hanged somewhat protecting
over the pool

It was early morning
and the pool was still dark
and in its depths,
there were black spots
that stirred ominously.

When the day got brighter
a sunbird came to drink water
and looked time after time,
at its image on the water.
.
There were water beetles
that played in circles
and tadpoles, .
swimming up and down
and a dragonfly hanged suspended
above the water

Life was trapped for a moment
and out of the depths
a predatory fish appeared
and when the dragonfly touched the water,
it disappeared into the bill of the fish
and into the depths.

Merciless Reflections

O mirror, bring back what I was yesterday
Or how I looked long ago,
My past reflections can’t you show?
You don’t store my past inside
My smallest wrinkles you don’t hide
You create and relish my depressions
And mock me with your merciless reflections!

Beauties You Have Given

LORD you hold my heart in your hand
of my life you're in command.
you've been with me from my birth
teaching and guiding me so that i can see
all the beauties that you have given me.

i turn and look all around
of beauties lost and beauties found.
the beauty of the sunrise in the early hours
the openings of all the flowers.

the smells of the grass ever so green
and everything else in between.
the oceans, the rivers, the mountaintops too
all of this was made by you.

the animals, the plants, and crops galore
is everything that we've been searching for.

we have food to eat and water to drink.
we even have a bathroom sink.

we have roofs over our heads to keep us dry
if off our butts we get up to try.
we see new life spring up every day
in every form and every way.

watching the reflections of the sun upon the waters
and the sands upon the beach
and boys and girls jumping into it
finding a bit of relief

these are just a few of the beauties that i see
and i'm sure that you have seen
just as much as me.

enjoy all the beauties that surround our lives
and if your with the one you love
then it's twice as nice.

More To Life

Free to turn like the wind on a Summer day
Heart worn like a ring around the moon
And your eyes are ablaze
Reflections of time passing by
That remind you there's much more to life
Than standing still
Or running from place to place in the heat of the day
Just follow your heart and you'll see ....
There's more to life
There beyond the horizon there's another day
Far above the pain and fear you feel
The power and the peace
The greatest sensation of all
There is much more to life than you'll ever know
The rise and fall, there'll always be you and me
We're moving as one
So follow your heart and you'll see ....
There's more to life
We all have our dreams
We all have our visions
But time after time we're faced with decisions
Which road to follow?
How hard to fight?
Then you wake up and see
That there's much more to life
Free in acres of sky on a Summer day
Fire that burns with hope inside your heart
We are never apart
Reflections of time passing by
That remind you there's much more to life
So just follow your heart and you'll see
If you follow your heart you'll be free
'Cos there's more to life
More to life

flames Of Water

The white white walls
of the swimming pool

are on fire
with the reflections

of the water
distorting our

every movement.

Flames of water
dance upon walls

as you emerge
from these Sunday waters

like a Venus
in a clinging wool costume.

Me clammed up
tight as a shell

unable to
tell

you
'I love you! '

Now far away from
that time

the watery flames
of my pre-pubescent

desire

still burns
through all those years.

I forever nine...
...you forever ten.

See Me In Your Eyes

I've been walkin' all night, thinkin' of you
The other lovers and all we've been through
We're just too much alike, but we're two worlds apart
I try to hide it but you still got my heart
And I can't dream without you, baby can we give it just one more try
Chorus:
I wanna see me in your eyes tonight
I wanna talk it over and hear you tell me it's alright
Shine reflections through the early morning light
Girl, I wanna see me in your eyes tonight
Well I saw you today with some other man
You're still pretending, it's all I can stand
Pictures of you with somebody else
It keeps me wonderin' when I'm by myself
And I can't dream without you, baby can we give it just one more try,
ohh
(chorus)
(Solo)
It's not like it's the first time, it might not be the last
You told me once that it's all over, still I keep on running back
(Solo)
It's not like it's the first time, it might not be the last
You told me once that it's all over, still I keep on running back
I wanna see me in your eyes tonight
I wanna talk it over and hear you tell me it's alright
Shine reflections through the early morning light, ohh
I wanna see me in your eyes tonight
I wanna hold you closer and tell you everything's alright
Shine reflections through the early morning light
Girl, I wanna see me in your eyes tonight, in your eyes tonight, whoa
