Like the blind man's cane, the ideas of most men-
There to support him when the street gets uneven.

An uneven lot
My hands are uneven;
The one that seeks is long
And the other that lends is short.
My eyes are uneven;
The one for women is wide
And the other for the poor is weak..
My ears are uneven;
The one for applause is sharp
And the other for critics is weak.
My heart too is uneven;
The left half is fat for lust
And the right is thin for concern
.
Everyone has turned like me;
The fabric is loosening
And selfishness brings ruins.

My Ears - My Eyes
My ears are my eyes because I am blind.
When I cross the street I listen for the sound of cars braking.
My ears are my eyes.
When I enter a room I tap my cane onto the floor and listen for the distance the echo travel to know how far I am away from someone else. My ears are my eyes.
I may never physical see the beauty of a spring day, but when I hear the birds are chirping, bikes constantly peddling by and lovers saying I love you. I know it is a beautiful spring day. I may be blind but I still see my ears are my eyes.
Note: No I am not blind myself but I know several people who are and this is me letting the rest of the world how they see through my poetry.
Aint No More Cane
Aint no more cane on the brazos
Oh, oh, oh, oh...
Its all been ground down to molasses
Oh, oh- oh, oh- oh...
You shoulda been on the river in 1910
They were driving the women just like they drove the men.
Go down old hannah, doncha rise no more
Dont you rise up til judgment days for sure
Aint no more cane on the brazos
Its all been ground down to molasses
Captain, dont you do me like you done poor old shine
Well ya drove that bully til he went stone blind
Wake up on a lifetime, hold up your own head
Well you may get a pardon and then you might drop dead
Aint no more cane on the brazos
Its all been ground down to molasses.

This Sweet Street
Walking down a street
Happy people I meet
Oh see the colours and smiles
See the sun shining for miles
The houses are small but neat
On this content street
I see the families so close
‘Look at our street’ the people boast
So look and you will see
Even if you are blind to life like me
For I shall tell you what I saw
In that perfect streets outer core
I saw the money passed underhand
I saw people owning stolen land
I saw the children chased off this street
Into the wild just to keep this street petite
I saw the brother’s unclean kill
Just for the money in their cousins will
I saw the father have a secret affair
And the mother, well there is a perfect pair
So see with your own eyes
Don’t always believe possible lies
Don’t be led around blind
Or this world will stab you from behind

It Is Nice To Hear
it is nice to hear that the blind man
along the city street asking for alms
is not really asking for your coins and
other means of support when he starts
to strum his guitar and sing his song
he is simply telling you about his world
where light exists no more exercising
his freedom of expression and not his
freedom of abode and locomotion.

On The Street
On the street
On the street
O, O, On the street
On the street
O, O, On the street
[Everybody dance]
[Watch for the difference]
On the street
{Breaking on broadway]
O, O, On the street
[Shaking on sunset strip]
On the street
[Like nobody booming supporting that]
Da, da, da, da, da ...
On the street
On the street
Dancing
On the street
On the street
Dancing
Dancing
On the street
On the street
[Twisting on the turnpipe]
Dancing
On the street

Blind Guides
There were two blind men who were walking down a street,
The first blind man said to the other, 'I'll lead you, follow me'
While the second shook his head, 'No, halfway we meet-
You lead me the first street, the second, it'll be me.'
So with walking sticks both blind men plodded on
Together hand in hand, albeit quite slowly,
Then soon a building wall they chanced upon
Each man groped around, finding its identity.
The first blind man said, 'I think it's an elephant
Let us try move it and push it to the side'
But the second man said 'Its a ship that is vacant
Maybe washed here by a big raging tide.'
Predictably both blind men had a discussion,
One tried to push while the other pulled the 'thing'
Both were so definite in their identification
Of the obstacle that had blocked their walking.
'Now listen my dear friend to my clear logic, '
The first blind man said as he started to frown,
'This elephant may have fainted here because it is sick.'
While the second man said, 'It's a ship broken down.'
So they both moved on with the second man ahead,
As a big ten-wheeler truck came by speeding.
It hit the second blind man who was instantly dead,
The first blind man said, 'Did you hear that lion roaring? '
'When the blind lead the blind, both will surely reach their destination: disaster.'

Street Of Shame
A street of shame
A street of pain
Rape and drugs, no ones sane
and no ones safe
Money owing and drug borrowing
day and night
It's always the same
on this street of shame
People robbing each other blind
taking their last dime
All for the sake of one last line
It's always the same
on this street of shame

There was a young fella named Pete
Who was born with two uneven feet;
He was tall - a six-footer,
But veered to the gutter
Whenever he walked down the street.

End Of Line
End of the Line
Old man, yes, you who walk near the houses on the pavement
down the street using a cane, is there something wrong with
your hips? Hey! Old man when you see a group of youngsters
standing by the corner you feel fear, and if they make fun of
the way you walk you pretend not to hear only try to walk faster.
It didn’t used to be like this you looked the world in the eye as
you broad shouldered swaggered down the street of life, no one
dared to challenge you then; you didn’t know it was going to end
like this. Hey! Old man your life is behind you and your future is
the grave, and your walk often takes you to the cemetery where
you often go and read the names of people you used to know.
You live in pain- tell me way- most of the time, watch irrelevant
news TV, while drinking a little whisky. Every Saturday you go
the café and drink beer with other old men, only there are so few
of them now. Hey! Old man with a foot in the grave, in your dream
you are still virile and when you wake up you feel young until you
see the cane or your face in the unforgiving mirror. Yet you go on
living your loveless life in the hope of seeing another spring and
see the blossoming of the almond tree.

We Tried To Make Uneven Pieces Fit
Why can't I say I love you?
Without the previews,
That begin with tests to emphasize...
Your specialty is drama.
Why can't you just accept,
How I feel?
Without the need to see,
How deep you perceive...
A reality you can believe,
That you seek from me to reveal?
Both of us have survived,
Other relationships.
Both of us have said we tried,
To make uneven pieces fit.
And cried our eyes,
Until we squinted to see through slits.
Just to prove our cloudless eyes...
Can and did swell up a bit.
Why can't I say I love you?
Without the previews,
That begin with tests to emphasize...
Your specialty is drama.
With your re-enactments staged...
To portray the wounding done,
And suffered...
By a recovering ingénue?
Accompanied by sobbing...
To express,
'No one really knows what I've gone through? '
I do!
But I am not commited,
To revisit those scenes with you.
With those props to stop a heart,
In mid beat!
Poetically,
I can understand this.
A psychologist,
I am not.
I love you,
Not your past agonies.
I want to establish a future with you!
But I will not sit and applaud,
Every detail of your healing process.
With an ovation that would please.
I have reason,
If I wanted to...
To express my own sorrows.
But why should I invest our happiness,
Together we can get...
With the borrowing of that kind of time?
The past ideals are pushed out of mind.
We tried...
To make uneven pieces fit.
We tried it,
To make uneven pieces fit.
We tried...
To make uneven pieces fit.
We tried it,
To make uneven pieces fit.

We're All God's Chillun
You can’t kill ideas by slaughtering people
Just as you can’t confine God to church walls or steeple
Ideas flourish when martyrs are made
&murder is something God strictly forbade
God’s not just on my side, or your side, or theirs
God speaks all languages, answers all prayers
So ask how to do what’s eternally right
God does not condone or support any fight
There’s no child of God rated one above other
We are all each God’s children, - mother, sister, father, brother

These are ideas. I could say that they just came to me, but it would be more accurate to say that I went to them. Ideas - and new connections between ideas - lead you away from commonly held perceptions of reality. Ideas lead you out here. Ideas lead you into the darkness.
Ideas For Walls
So many things in my head, Ive always had them before
No reason to be upset, theyre just ideas for walls
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing, demanding that the nightlife be called the right life
Like putting paint on my feet & walking sideways in rows
My walls could be so complete, complete with patterns of toes
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing the left side, right side, which is the right side
Now-ideas
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
A little m for the mirror, a double u for the wall
To make things perfectly clear, a great big h in the hall
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing, demanding that the nightlife be called the right life
Is everybody confused? (no) Im making no sense at all
You want a room with a view you need ideas for walls
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing inside, outside, outside, right side
Inside, outside, which is the right side
Now -- ideas
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
Ideas
Theyre just ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls

Jackie Cane
Jackie cane was everybodys sugar
She gave it all wherever it took her
They used her up before the sell-by date
To be so sweet was her only mistake
The only flower in a concrete garden
Destined to be the rock that wouldnt harden
Jackie cane was everybodys sugar
Shed melt away if only she could of
Taken for granted
Abused and drained
They ran her dry and
Then it never rained
She was the queen
Of the 25th hour
They looked so sweet
But the after-taste was sour
Salty days for jackie cane

Hate Me
You want to hate me.
All I have to say is fine I don't care.
It's not my fault no matter how you play it.
It was all manipulated.
Another fight has been instigated.
With feelings of agitation,
I want to show the lie you're living in.
But I won't cause you can't accept the truth.
You're an abscess that just wont go away.
The pain is here to stay.
A message I'm here to relay.
You want to hate me.
All I have to say is fine I just don't care.
It's not my fault no matter how you play it.
It was all manipulated.
Another fight has been instigated.
With feelings of agitation,
The signs have been so obvious.
Why can't you see?
A blind man at least has a cane as he walks down the street.
Are you ready for the fall.
I'm sorry but I won't pick you back up again.
I already have once came to your defense.
You want to hate me.
All I have to say is fine I just don't care.
It's not my fault no matter how you play it.
It was all manipulated.
Another fight has been instigated.
With feelings of agitation,
Why is it so hard to let go?
I just want to let the frost grow.
Let the distance divide.
Never melt this ice off my heart again.
Neither of us are what we once were.
Does that even bother you?
The signs have been so obvious.
Why can't you see.
A blind man at least has a cane as he walks down the street.
Are you ready for the fall.
I'm sorry but I won't pick you back up again.
I already have once came to your defense.
You want to hate me.
All I have to say is fine I just don't care.
It's not my fault no matter how you play it.

I want to show the lie you're living in.
But I won't cause you can't accept the truth.
You're an abscess that just wont go away.
The pain is here to stay.
A message I'm here to relay.
Okay, Okay, Okay.
I will not be sucked in.
I'm sorry my friend.
But that's just not happening.
It's time reverse course.
Raise the sail to catch the wind going the other direction.
You want to hate me.
All I have to say is fine I just don't care.
It's not my fault no matter how you play it.
It was all manipulated.
Another fight has been instigated.
With feelings of agitation,
So please by all means.
Do whatever you can do to bring the pain.
It will not even leave a stain.
No scars upon my stars.
They're as they were.
They're as they are.
You want to hate me.
All I have to say is fine I just don't care.
It's not my fault no matter how you play it.
It was all manipulated.
Another fight has been instigated.
With feelings of agitation,
The words are final.
Written and carved into this granite stone.
I'll still remember when your gone.
All I see now is another rising dawn.
With cries and smiles setting the landscapes colors.
That little black dot is all that is left of what was once of you.

Beale Street Blues
If Beale Street could talk
Beale Street could talk
Married men would have to
Take their be-eds and walk
Except one or two
Who never drink booze
And the blind man on the corner
Who-oo sings the Beale Street Blues
I'd rather be here
Than any pla-ace I know
I'd rather be here
Than any place I know-ow
It's gonna take the sergeant
For to make me go
Goin' to the river
Maybe by-y and by
Goin' to the river
And there's a reason why
Because the river's wet
And Beale Street's done gone dry
Goin' to the river
Maybe by-y and by
Goin' to the river
And there's a rea-eason why
Because the river's wet
And Beale Street's done gone dry
Because the river's wet
And Beale Street's done gone dry
Because the river's wet
And Beale Street's do-one go-one dry...
