Have a Good Gruntle

'You're the most ept, ert, choate and dolent person I know -
how do you manage it? '

'Excuse me...? ? '

Words are fun.
If your child's school report
declared him or her
'inept, inert, inchoate, and indolent'
you'd have a fairly clear picture
of how things are;
the negatives survive,
as more useful
(ah, sad reflection...)

and then there are the words
that have reversed their meanings
by some really interesting
but alas never yet charted
human failing:
'nice' once meant stupid and ignorant;
'silly' once meant blissful...

But today I'm savouring 'disgruntled':

that is, dissatisfied, and angry with it;
a state not unknown
to a consumer society;
so are you gruntled today -
satisfied and happy?

but it's not quite as easy as that:
if you're gruntled, then officially you're
'uttering little grunts'...

would that be while DIYing
somewhere back of the sink,
or pigging out so fast you can hardly
make time to breathe,
or perhaps being, uh,
sexually favoured?

Words are fun
especially for poets -
Shakespeare made up more than anyone
just like that
without some egghead like Bacon (aha!) or Jonson
looking over his shoulder and saying
you can't say that
they won't know what you mean
in the low-price seats...

Words are fun;
give them a good shake of the kaleidoscope
and they just might play nose-to-tail
and make a poem

though not today it seems

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda- In A Changing World

what a slang words most people usually said today,
so sweet that, early morning it chores to the songs
of birds in the trees

it adds color of the day, a beautiful scene, an echo in
my ears, when the TV and my wife murmur ask to what
is happening today

I do believe in magic in a most sweeping believable
reality, a wisdom of human power, the language of
the universe today

woulda want to know what happen today, woulda the
stock market is going high, woulda the election be
fair, a very effected word that everybody remember and
understand the meaning

oh coulda the scientist make a difference in today's illness
coulda talk to me, education in this millennium coulda
make people satisfied of what is going on in this planet

shoulda we know the rating of each candidate for presidency
shoulda i miss you for a while, shoulda make me happy of the
offer my company gives

it is just a simple words, but it give us direction of where to
go, a powerful high sounding commitment, that geared us to
do the action, such phenomenon of affirmation is the world
needs it today

the world was created by the power of the words, it is now
the right time to use these words to change the world, we will
make the world a place to breed our offspring, say to
anybody you meet today...woulda help me make the world
happy, coulda do it for our family, shoulda we make things
possible to happen....make then a DIFFERENCE

Everything In Poetry Is Allowed

everything in poetry is allowed
so much sweat had been wasted
so many words alienated from their own meanings
on the issue of which is true poetry

enough of that
let me state once more that everything in poetry is allowed
whatever is it that comes from your mouth
that slips from your lips
becomes a poem by the intensity of your intention

today my mouth gives birth to bees
and i am telling you a poem is a swarm of bees
like a set of hands spreading some prayers

tonight i shall dream of words escaping from my mouth
i see them as snakes singing
oh, i see, i am telling you a poem is a choir of snakes hissing a song
(do you really imagine that? am i not a little bit
weird?)

i never tire giving birth to words, and images, and metaphors
and a poem never gets weary like the insomniac still not wanting to sleep

oh, i see, you too must have words like these
those that never sleep, you see? what a poem can be?

a poem is a set of sleepless words, smoking at night, looking over the window,
naked, like a very beautiful woman, looking for love.

you want things to make connections? hmm, don't be silly, some connections
do not seem to be
takes time, sometimes, takes even death upon one's self, to see the light.

but don't you worry, whatever is it, becomes a poem by the intensity of your
affections.

Two Over A Dozen

Two over a dozen-

Those digits that make a fortnight-in that second month,

But today, the sky was grey-

Mirror reflection of the discordant heart-

The angry gale hitting against the pane of my window-

As I looked thro’ the hazy mist- deep in thought

Red everywhere, love petals; in bouquets,

Which I cannot smell- not today

Sweet product of cocoa melts on the sensuous tongue,

Which I cannot taste- not today

Black satin complementing red silk over seductive curves,

Which I cannot touch- not today

Hushed tones, whispered words-words from Venus,

Which I cannot speak- not today

For, Cupid missed…

Mama Take

On the road
But I wont be gone too long
Babe, Im leavin you tomorrow
On my way
And you know you make me strong
Ill be thinking bout you
All night long
(chorus)
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart
Mama shake just a little bit
Mama brake just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart
All alone
And, Im feelin down today
Wont let nothin come between us
Say the words
And the words are meant to say
Ill be thinkin about you everyday
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart, oh, oh
Mama shake just a little bit
Mama brake just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart
From my heart
I believe that we belong beyond a doubt
If we have a change of heart
We can always change our mind
And I know well work it out
I can see that its the only way to go
Its the only chance I get
Its the only way youll know
That I love to love you
Mighty love
Gettin hard to find today
I believe in you forever
Say thhe words
And the words are meant to say
Ill be thinkin about you everyday

Some Silence, Some Words

Today somewhere a mirror broke
And a music of end splashed in the pages of time,
Someone lost his meanings in the broken mirror..
And an unending silence flowed
Many things happen silently, , ,
How the silent weeping of the lost meaning wander in the depth of the night, , ,
I unveil the sea of darkness...i find only silence
And the music of the end keeps on splashing around
Life is all about some silence and some words…
Far away a poet was looking for words, .
And a poem was seeking for its understanding, ,
for the heart where words dwell with meanings, ,
As long as they both were away everything was all right...
And when they met, , ,
the poet lamented on the end of words of the poem, , ,
and the poem on the unending silence of the poet, , , , ,
poems are not about understanding....
poet is not about words, , , ,

Last Night I Preached

as usual
we are chatting
busy and
cramming for words

there is lucy
worrying about the next money to pay her mortgage of the house
there is manny
asking where to find a money lender to pay for his tuition
there is polly
worried about her husband's worsening kidney trouble
there is precy
asking if she can file an annulment

advices, resolutions, analyzing pros and cons,
and the consequences
like a radio program for the lost and the ignorant
i feel like i am a radio announcer somehow
yet everything went alright till the end of the night

then someone asks for a poem
to make him sleep
for he had not slept for days

and i preached: some things are meant only to be felt
no analysis, no logical explanations, no synthesizing,
some things are meant only to be seen
no words are useful to situations where the tapping of the shoulder
and the hugs and embrace can speak the most
comforts and understanding, all these are matters of the heart
the wars within with which words and even syllables become useless

i told him: breathe, breathe, breathe some more
breathe deeply and feel the expansion of your lungs with fresh air

back to the basics, the only way to live is to breathe
and the only way for one to sleep is to lay down in bed and then close
your eyes and then tell the world that now it is time for you to be excused.

yes last night i preached, and then i too closed my eyes and took my
much needed sleep.

life is simple. it is us. We complicate it. And then life has become unfair.

An everyday hero's farewell

I don’t have words today
Just silence
As I sit here feeling
How much I will miss you
Everyday

I don’t have words today
To capture the million stories we’ve shared
Over laughter, and sadness
More than a little, madness
And each brought us to this day

I don’t have words today
That will hug your heart
Always, with love
So you’d know that I’m never
Far, from you

I don’t have words today
That convey how proud I am of you
Of your many acts of kindness
Of humour in the face of sadness
You are a hero, to me.

Repeat The Words

Repeat the words you cared about since you were a child,
Yesterday these sentences meant nothing, just mere points;
Then ideas came to fruition, like a fixed price,
One that wants the same gift, the same appeal and charisma.
My words are with respect about respect, as if you died today,
In this wheel of fortune I condemn the weak and distressed.
My angles are the same as words that struggle with loves
In the same nature, the very natural business of my youth.
Kind are the phrases that adjust and believe once forgotten,
These angry voices subdue the ordinary individual, the one.
May sides of victorious energy complete a real wheel and circle.
My repetitive and obsessive habits command respect for the times,
Never are the words alike in one sequence, forming them is easy.
I confer with Indians and Tigers of the jungle, I see them in print,
Letting us see notes of you and me and him, the people are singing!

Letter To A Young Poet

Dear Raman, so you want me to read your poem and state my opinion.
Well, you are fond of words and you are stacking them up in your poem.
That is a good thing; clearly you are a man who reads a lot.
So you want to be a poet, poetry is self indulgent’ it never starts a war
nor finished it. Should a poet write something that resonance with,
the sentiment of a nation, you can be sure it will be used by politicians
and interpreted for their dubious plans.

So why don’t you become an engineer or failing that, a cook. The world
doesn’t need, anymore academic poets who forever repeat what poets
of yore have said. For the people a poet is regarded as a figure of fun
who spends valuable time putting useless words together to make sense
of a world they don’t understand. As my father said when I published
my first poem: “How much did they pay you? ” So if my words have not
scared you off you’re a poet. All you need is intellectual honesty.

Affirmations(2002-2004)

Today, I will get up before my alarm
Today, I won't close my eyes until dusk
Today, I will not get a speeding ticket
Today, I will count this day as a first
Today, I will enjoy the life that has been left to me
Today, I won't frown over the may-have-beens
Today, I won't cry over the should-have-beens
Today, I won't wonder about the could-have-beens

Today, I'll smile.......Today, I'll Laugh.... Today, I'll relax

Today, I won't feel alone because I don't see you
Today, I'll find something new that wasn't true of you
Today, I won't be afraid to look upon a new face
Today, I'll step up and take my place
Today, I won't think about what I've lost
Today, I'll look forward instead of behind
Today, I'll find some piece of mind

Today, I'll hope.... Today, I'll pray... Today, I'll believe

Today, I'll dream as if I always did
Today, I'll wish on a star the way I used to
Today, I'll reach for the heavens and sigh
Today, My heart will start to heal
Today, the biggest miracle is ME.
Today, Yesterday's problems ceased to be
Today, the rain has stopped and the sun has returned
Today, the breath of kindness is found in words

Today, I wonder.... Today, I am a child.

Paper, Only for a Limited Time

Paper, blank and empty
A metaphor only meant for loneliness
White as new born snow
Lets add some words
To make a prophesized poem

Words, only meant for rhetorical use
Clouds that clear, only meant to hide the blue
The living, moving ocean that is our sky
Words, only meant for questioning
What are words but meaning

Clearing clouds, our living pulse bleeds through
Now this blank piece of paper
Has a shadow, and my shadow -combine
Lets make music together
Beautiful, wonderful, majestic music
Lets be music together-
And dance our hearts to something holy

Paper, blank and empty
But easily filled to create art
Art that can change the world
Turn it upside down, or nothing
Paper, blank and empty
But only for a limited time.

Words

Flowery words may tickle the ears; even delight the person who hears.
Flowery words are not what I choose, if you desire to just be amused.
For I am truly not a poet my friend, and poetry is not my ultimate end.
Poetry is simply my chosen venue, this to share God’s Truth with you.

The words of men who went before, these are the words I underscore.
They may not be the poet’s choice, but they echo that important voice,
That one who spoke words of Life, The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Words echoed today for you and I, and this long after our Savior died.

Words of Truth are what I impart, hoping to comfort or change a heart.
Changing souls one heart at a time, for this is Christ’s humble design.
His words are not meant to enthrall, but be a hope and comfort for all.
The words not meant to entertain, but address the issue of sin’s stain.

I will continue to write as I’m moved, for friend I have nothing to prove.
And friend you have nothing to lose, as it is His Truth that you choose.
His words of Truth are tried and true, the words that I share with you.
My friend, the end of each poem, for me, is one page closer to home.

It is simply a poem at the start, but then The Spirit moves in my heart,
And The Spirit’s words fill my pen, with The Savior’s hope for all men.
As I echo all these men of the past, it is a Hope that will eternally last.
When I enter my heavenly abode, a place above I’ll forever call Home.

I Died Today

i died today
no last goodbyes
no funeral will be held
no tears shed from your eyes

i died today
my chest filled with pain
it became unbearable
life if lived wouldnt be the same

i died today
words i could no longer speak
i could not breathe
my body was so weak

i died today
your words killed me
they broke my heart beyond repair
something you will not see

i died today
but you dont care
i was alone
you were not there

Isn't Simplicity Easy

If my words are read for content,
Why do some believe...
Other interpretations are meant?
As if there is something to define,
Between the lines.
As if there are clues,
Deep hidden in secret...
AND up my sleeve!

If my words are meant for content,
Why do some miss the obvious?

'Come on children.
Today we are taking a field trip.
Hold my hand! '

Why isn't simplicity easy for some to see?
And if I chose to write something abstract,
And detached from most lives...
I would receive standing ovations,
For the innovation of it all!

'And over there,
We see an interracial couple...
Doing 'interracial' things,
Interracially.

And over there...
We see some people closer to their pet animals,
Than to their own children, family and friends.

And way over there...
Can most of you see those folks being respectful?
That's how all of this should be done!
Any questions before we go back to take the quiz?
Good.
I am glad this has been worth time spent! '

Sadness, despair
I don't care to share

In sighing and groaning

Smiles and kind words
Listening to birds
Feel sunshine inside
Self-esteem and pride
Happy today
Take time to play
Lunch with a friend
Go shopping and spend
Time for yourself
Tme on your health

Forgive Me

Forgive Me"
Can you forgive me again?
I don't know what I said
But I didn't mean to hurt you
I heard the words come out
I felt like I would die
It hurt so much to hurt you
Then you look at me
You're not shouting anymore
You're silently broken
I'd give anything now
to keep those words from you
Each time I say something I regret I cry "I don't want to lose you."
But somehow I know that you will never leave me, yeah.
'Cause you were made for me
Somehow I'll make you see
How happy you make me
I can't live this life
Without you by my side
I need you to survive
So stay with me
You look in my eyes and I'm screaming inside that I'm sorry.
And you forgive me again
You're my one true friend
And I never meant to hurt you

My Poet Time Travelers

I thought of it all day and well into the night
That for you a poem I would write.
What words can you use to describe a person
You’ve never seen.
Then a realization came into my mind
I’ve been writing them for a very long time.

Every time we write about GOD and his begotten son
The words flow freely and never left undone.
So it matters not if it is sight unseen
We write about everything- it’s a poets dream.

Poets go into worlds never traveled before
Seeking all that GOD has made
And come back with knowledge that they’ve gained.
Into the realms of mystery, love, excitement and fear
So that with you these words they could share.

They see the realities of today
The dreams of yesterdays
The future of tomorrows
And the pains and sorrows.

They are the time travelers of the mind
Their eyes are open - they are not blind.
So when you read what they write
It’s because of this time travelers insight.

So to my time traveling co-poets, this I must say
I am proud to have traveled this road with you
Into the minds of man, and writing
The stories that they all understand.
