0311 Eternal Justice
I was just staggering in the gate
with two heavy bags
from an exhausting week’s conference
when the conman and his accomplice
got me right at my own front door –
I’m mortified by the memory –
they could replace my missing roof tiles
in a moment, look, the ladder’s
already up there, the accomplice
is halfway up, now he’s already
on the roof in his plimsolls, now he's
shaking the chimney-stack, look, it's loose
.... no cash? oh,
they’d drive me to the nearest cash-point…
well, you can guess the rest –
anything for a quiet life…
as I dozed off that evening,
flushed with anger, blushed with stupidity,
too tired to crawl to bed,
realizing that conmen have
all the skills of hypnotists,
enlightenment struck:
the next morning, I would wake up
150 dollars the poorer but morning-fresh;
‘they’ would wake up with the urgent need
to seek another mug each day.
And I realised that sublime, ruthless,
beautiful, tragic, comic, eternal justice
is - to be – to live it through as -
just as we are; right now…
heroes or victims of ourself
.

You 'Are' An Accomplice
You 'are' an accomplice!
If you've ever advocated hatred,
With a division that inspires.
And you've expressed a choice,
To have certain voices unrepresented...
In the mix as they wish,
To live and be as they see fit.
You 'are' an accomplice,
To an uprising of violence...
Chaos and confusing conflict.
You 'are' an accomplice,
If there has been an increase...
Of hunger and homelessness,
On city streets.
With a rise of apartheid,
Excused and dismissed.
Oh you 'are' an accomplice to all of it!
If your choice has been to choose,
To ignore the suffering and abuse...
Of your fellow human beings,
Seen as victims of misdeeds...
Implemented with such ease.
You 'are' an accomplice.
You just refuse to admit it.
If you enjoy a life that is loved and liked,
That is not afforded to everyone...
Because of your own selfish preferences,
You wish to highlight.
You 'are' an accomplice,
If you deny similar appetites.
Whether you are in debate with interests,
With others satiating their familiar greed.
Or whether you are secretly in discreet...
Sabotaging someone unknown,
Passed upon urban streets.
But there you are seen greeting...
In the backyards of those,
Not aware of your ideologies.
Or your plans to impose.
You 'are' an accomplice...
Whether or not you agree.
You 'are' an accomplice,
If there has been an increase...
Of hunger and homelessness.
On city streets.
And a rise of apartheid,
Excused and dismissed.
You 'are' an accomplice to all of it!
How can one be a part...
But yet declare not to be,
A product of the whole?
How can one eliminate,
A sentence read from an epic.
To declare it to be insignificant,
To the outcome and the plot!
Believe it or not...
Every piece of the epic read,
Determines the deliciousness...
Or the tastelessness perceived,
Stirred in that pot.
Believe it or not!

Midsummer New York
Wake up in the morning, my hands cold in fear.
And midsummer new york my heart shakes in terror.
My heart, my hands, my legs, my mind,
Evrything I touch is shaking, shaking, shaking, shaking,
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, oooh.
Wake up in the morning, my beds wet in sweat.
And midsummer new york, scream in the mirror.
And the door, and the chairs, and the floor, and the ceiling,
Evrything you see is aching, shaking, shaking, shaking,
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, oooh.
And you shake, shake, shake, shake, shake,
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, oooh.
Wake up in the morning, my minds dried up in pain.
Midsummer new yorks waiting for the rain.
The window, the trees, the park, the sun,
The whole world s shaking, is shaking, shaking,
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, oooh.
Shake, oh, shake, oh, shake,

The Sounds In The Roof
At four in the morning we were awakened
by sounds coming from up in the roof.
It sounded like whispering and music,
and we were puzzled to tell the truth.
At first we thought it was our neighbours,
but then remembered they had gone away.
We decided to go up there and investigate,
so got a ladder, and a torch to show the way.
We could hear the sounds quite clearly,
as we climbed the ladder to the loft.
We whispered so no one could hear us
and at one stage we nearly fell off.
I slowly opened the roofs trap door
and shone my torch all around,
but I couldn’t see anything unusual,
and couldn’t hear a sound.
Bewildered, we climbed down the ladder
and decided to go back to bed,
but as soon as our heads touched the pillows
we wished we were elsewhere instead.
The sounds had returned, and much louder,
so we went up the ladder again.
It went quiet as soon as I raised the trap door,
this time I searched, but in vain.
We concluded that the wind was the problem,
as it came down the chimney pot.
But in hindsight we were only fooling ourselves
because we hear the sounds if it’s windy or not.

Morning Desire
(dave loggins)
Here its seven in the am,
Its gonna take more then wakin to rise me
I wake up with this need again
But feel the love of the woman beside me
Its just one of those days
When I wana lay here with her
And love her before I leave
And listen to the rain fall up on the roof
And the thunder sounds like horses hooves
Oh I listen to her breathe
And it makes me wana wake her up
And tell her that Im on fire
With morning desire
It looks like Im gonna be late again
And I need to get up and get movin
And Im tryin
But the longer I keep stalling
The more I think about callin in and lieing here
Its just one of those days
When I wana stay here with her
And watch her while she sleeps
And listen to the rain fall up on the roof
And the thunder sounds like horses hooves
Oh I listen to her breathe
And it makes me wana wake her up
And tell her that Im on fire
With morning desire
Well I love to hear the rain fallin on the roof
And the thunder sounds like horses hooves
Oh I listen to her breathe
And it makes me wana wake her up
And tell her that Im on fire
With morning desire
With morning desire

Will You Be There
I'm lying beside you just thinking about us
Too tired to go to sleep and too much in love
I know i'm crazy but i can't close my eyes
I'm scared you won't be there in the morning when i rise
Will you be there?
Who do you dream about are you alone in your sleep?
To who will you reach out?
Oh, let it be me
Oh baby, you're my obsession, my addiction, my drug
Don't want to be without you when i wake up
Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when i want you?
Will you be there when i wake up, oh i need you to be there in the morning
Will you be there?
Well, you're so close to me but i feel so alone
The more i touch you the more i want
Don't know what to do about me loving you but i pray to god that you feel it too
You're my obsession, my addiction, my drug, so let the candle grow into a great fire of love
Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when i want you?
Will you be there when i wake up?
I need you to be there in the morning!
I wanna love you forever,
Don't want a love that's now or never
Can't you see you got me down on the floor.
I want more more!
Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when i want you?
Will you be there when i wake up?
Will you be there in the morning?
Will you be there?

Why Angry And Sad?
Wake up every morning sad
Go to sleep every night mad
But why sad
Sad cause I’m alive
Mad cause of who I am
Mad that the world would never accept me
Mad cause I cant be me
Feeling like no heaven exist cause I’m living in hell
Feeling like there’s no angels to take me
So why should I smile
Why should I laugh
Why should I wake up every morning happy
Frustration and anger is taking over me every day
I’m living with no happiness
Living with anger
Anger is now my best quality
Anger describes my personality
Anger is inside of me
Anger is me
I’m anger

Graceland
Tomb of a millionaire,
A multi-millionaire, ladies and gentlemen,
Place of the dead where they spend every year
The usury of twenty-five thousand dollars
For upkeep and flowers
To keep fresh the memory of the dead.
The merchant prince gone to dust
Commanded in his written will
Over the signed name of his last testament
Twenty-five thousand dollars be set aside
For roses, lilacs, hydrangeas, tulips,
For perfume and color, sweetness of remembrance
Around his last long home.
(A hundred cash girls want nickels to go to the movies to-night.
In the back stalls of a hundred saloons, women are at tables
Drinking with men or waiting for men jingling loose silver dollars in their pockets.
In a hundred furnished rooms is a girl who sells silk or dress goods or leather stuff for six dollars a week wages
And when she pulls on her stockings in the morning she is reckless about God and the newspapers and the police, the talk of her home town or the name people call her.)

Wake Up And Live
Wake up and live
Wake up and live your life see what there is to see
I won't sit around all day cause life means more to me
wake up and live
so many kids content to sleep their lives away
but I'm gona try to make themost out of this day
wake up and live
it takes some motivation It takes some love for life
why just sit complacent and let life pass you by
boredom is a choice I choose not to make
unlock that door, strive for more
there's a better path to take
WAKE UP AND LIVEbreath every breath
WAKE UP AND LIVE until my death
WAKE UP AND LIVE so much to do
WAKE UP AND LIVE all of you
c'mon, open your eyes

Dead!
Hush! or you'll wake her. Softly tread!
She slumbers in her little bed.
What do I see? A coffin! Dead?
Yes, dead at break of morning.
No, no, it cannot, cannot be!
I know that I can wake her. See!
She only plays at sleep. Ma mie,
Kiss me, for it is morning.
Look, pretty, look! Within, without,
Snowdrops and hyacinths lie about.
Why don't you clutch them with a shout
Blither than birds of morning?
You used to clap your hands with glee,
When I brought flowers. ``Are these for me?''
Now, now, you neither scent nor see
These incense-buds of morning.
Do you not know me, pet? Speak! speak!
There is no answer in her cheek.
To find her now where shall I seek?-
Seek in the vanished morning!
What can I do to make her heed?
I am crying, love; I am indeed.
Open your eyes and see. What need
To tease me all the morning?
Look! We will sally forth and play;
Ramble, and never ask our way,
Lessons and tasks all put away,
As though it were not morning.
We will do all that you desire,
And I will never, never tire
Of romping with you by the fire,
When 'tis no longer morning.
Your favourite tales, oft told before,
I'll tell you, darling, o'er and o'er;
It never shall be bedtime more,
Will you but wake this morning.
I will not ask you to sit still;
You shall be naughty when you will;
Shall spill my ink and spoil my quill,
And squander all my morning.
Alas! Alas! it is no cheat!
Quiet she lies from face to feet!
No smile, no sigh, no hue, no heat,
No earnest of the morning.
Draw high the sheet above her head.
She liked it, so. Dead? No, not dead.
The angels, hovering round her bed,
Will greet her in the morning.

I Want To Wake Up
I heard what you said, and I can tell you its true
I heard youve said that I am crazy about you
Turn in my sleep, the bad dream is over
Think of you and shall I ever recover?
Now, I want to wake up
How I want to wake up
I stood at the kitchen-sink, my radio played
Songs like tainted love and love is strange
As I listened and the words hit my ears
I cried sudden tears
Now, I want to wake up
How I want to wake up
Wake up
(wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up)
(its mad, its mad, its mad)
Its mad, to be in love with someone else
When youre in love with him, shes in love with me
But you know as well as I do
I can never think of anyone but you
(all my life,
All my life
I want to wake up)
Play with fire, play with guns
Its easy to impress someone
Turning in my sleep, you call me a fool
To fall in love, is it so uncool?
Now, I want to wake up
How I want to wake up
Now, I want to wake up
Wake up
(wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Wake up, wake up - ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh
Ooh ooh ooh oh oh)
I, I want to wake up
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh)
I, I want to wake up
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh)
I, I want to wake up
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh)
I, I want to wake up, with you, oh
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh - oooh)
I, I want to wake up, with you, oh, ooh
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh)
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh) I want to wake up, wake up, wake up
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh)
I, I want to wake up, wake up, wake up with you
(ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh, ooh ooh ooh oh oh)

Funny How It Fades Away
Those days when our hearts were as big as the sun
Turn around with a smile for everyone
That feelings a memory
Funny how it fades away
You wont see those pale grays returning to blues
The colors will wash out as I shrink in my shoes
And I wont always live and breathe
Watch me as I fade away
We wake in the morning and work all day
We dress up in the evening with nothing to say
Just like a candle burning bright
Burning like forever then it fades away
Who on this planet would ever refuse
The chance of a lifetime to love and lose
When time is of no importance
Have you seen it slip away?
We wake in the morning and work all day
We dress up in the evening with nothing to say
Just like a candle burning bright
Burning like forever then it fades away
We wake in the morning and work all day
We dress up in the evening with nothing to say
Just like a candle burning bright
Burning like forever then it fades away

Rainy Day
Rainy Day
It was eight in the morning when I heard
a car door slam and a car drive off.
It rained all day and it soothed my nerves
to hear water trickle down old roof tiles;
stuck indoors, I didn't have an umbrella.
Five o'clock, afternoon, the car returned
and the same door slammed shut,
the rain continued, the water trickling
was a Geneva Convention offence; utterly
bored now and still without an umbrella.

A woman can seek a better roof outside;
She still prefers to be under her roof
For the seat she gets there is poorer.

Turn Around
Jimmy saw the sun chase away the night
It was a quarter past seven
His body warm like the morning light
Had to be in school by eleven
He told himself what they had done to him
That's why Jimmy never felt real sad
If only someone could have lent a hand
Things would have never turned out so bad
Who knows why black flies just live for one day
Who knows why
Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story
Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story now
Always sat alone in the back of the class
Because no one would take him
Today he stood in front of the rest
His hands were shaking
Who could have known what Jimmy thought
Never had a chance to speak his words out loud
The flies were burning in his head till
Jimmy let them all out
Who knows why black flies just live for one day
Who knows why
Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story
Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story now
It didn't pay to make fun of him
Too late to say

Morning Glory
All your dreams are made
When you're chained to (your) mirror with (your) razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon
(I'm) walking to the sound of your favorite tune
Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind
You know you should so I guess you might as well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
(you) need a little time to wake up
Wake up well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
Need a little time to wake up
Wake up
(Cos) all your dreams are made
Now you're chained to the mirror with your razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
(It's) another sunny afternoon
Yeah I'm walking to the sound of my favorite tune
Tomorrow doesn't know what it doesn't know too soon
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind

Bend & Break
when you when you forget your name
when old faces all look the same
meet me in the morning when you wake up
meet me in the morning then you'll wake up
if only I don't bend and break
I'll meet you on the other side
I'll meet you in the light
If only I don't suffocate
I'll meet you in the morning when you wake
bitter and hardened heart
aching waiting for life to start
meet me in the morning when you wake up
meet me in the morning then you'll wake up
if only I don't bend and break
I'll meet you on the other side
I'll meet you in the light
If only I don't suffocate

Some Days
Some days are good,
some days are bad,
and some are in between.
We never know which day we’ll have,
until the hidden dice is rolled.
One morning we wake to sunshine,
one morning we wake to rain,
some we wake to be a bit of both.
However, whatever we wake up to,
just be thankful that we wake up.

Justice With No Lie
An innocent man
lies his head down to rest
not wanting to wake
to the morning sun
Instead wanting to wake
in a parallel universe
where truth and justice
is number one
In the real world
his days seem like years
they eat away at his
mind body and soul
If a witness would lie
he knows he might die
before truth and justice
Would see the light
but he's got to keep up the fight
All he wants
is justice with no lie
so come forward
and let truth and justice
shine it's light

Haunting
Sleep is an enemy these days
I sleep, I wake, I sleep, I wake
I look outside the window at the night
Sometimes I have such dreams
as vivid as the day, at other times
the dreams, they stay away.
It was a night of vivid dreams
I heard a noise downstairs, someone shuffling, rustling
I called, "Is someone there? "
Footsteps coming closer, passing by my door.
I heard the bathroom being used
and I called out some more.
The bedroom door creaked open,
she moved across the room, her face was so familiar
but I screamed and off she flew.
The face I saw was tired miserable and worn.
She seemed to be quite harmless
but still I was concerned
and later on that morning
as the sun rose in the sky, I realised who she was
and I breathed a heavy sigh.
The lady in my bedroom
was someone I knew well. It was me you see dear reader,
it seems I haunt myself
