0213 Late Night Reverie
One in three of us, the stats say, lives alone. Sad;
but fine if you prefer it that way.
It's late at night. You're alone. The PC off at last. The TV off.
Finally you put aside the book you're reading. The attention's drifting.
Too late too, for reading in bed. You should just
get up from the chair, switch off the light,
etc. But you don't. You just sit there. This
is one of life's great private joys. Far better than
all the bathroom stuff, the almost idiot moments
of waiting for sleep, knowing you'll never catch the moment
when sleep takes you; and the more you try, like a child,
to catch it, haha got you, the longer it will be before - zap - zzz.
So you sit there, drifting into a glorious haze of irresponsibility
as the thoughts fade, the cares fade, you're just two thoughts away
or perhaps two non-thoughts away, from something like bliss,
and this peace doesn't dwindle you - there's an expansion
as if 'someone' doesn't become no-one, but everyone...
and there comes to mind, curiously, those greatest moments in the
greatest films, when there they are, looking out over Paris or Algiers
or wherever, with the soundtrack playing, hardly there but there,
and nothing is said, but the whole cinema audience of hundreds
is silent, focussed, feeling in those seconds of emotion and stillness
that everything real, everything wished for, everything that matters
is there. In full.
Or in the theatre - sitting there, hundreds of you, weeping silent tears
that even those stoic Romans found a phrase for, lacrymae rerum,
the tears of things: you all know, she won't take that first step
out of herself, he won't try for that job he knows he's wanted
all his life; they'll never go to the Moscow of their dreams...yet...
It's like that for you in your armchair.
The key to all of life is there, out of reach perhaps, yet
known, not out of reach... beyond sadness, beyond happiness
in a strange way. It just... is as it is. And that's OK.
Better than just going to bed. Yes, it's a good time.
Sleep well.

0270 Strange Day (for DW)
You’re walking down the street
in the usual way
when you catch someone’s passing gaze
and just like that you suddenly hear
all their inner thoughts – non-stop,
all over the place: good ones, bad ones,
a cacophony of stuff, you wonder why
they don’t go mad with it – you look at them,
they look quite normal, unconcerned…
then you look at someone else – the same thing happens;
what can you do for them? You can’t start
to talk to everyone about their thoughts
all the time, you’d go mad yourself…
what makes them like this? What
are they all looking for that they have
to do all this thinking?
Suddenly you feel tremendously sorry
that they should be like this; you’re
overwhelmed with –- compassion - for
the human race, that all this stuff
should get in the way of – what?
and as you walk, slower now,
trying to hide the flood of tears
and feeling some sort of holy idiot,
glorious and embarrassed at the same time,
the terrible chaos of those thoughts goes quiet, peaceful, silent, still,
and now you feel light and full of light,
and loving what you see in them
yes all of them,
as if you’d never felt any other way
and you’re so sure of this, that you’ll
always know how to tell them, some way, too
that this is how they really are
it’s all so obvious

Drifting Away
(orbison/dees)
Sadness slips into the room
On silent steps of sorrow
Stealing sleep and all my dreams
Where will we be tomorrow?
Lying with you, crying with you, drifting
Talking till dawn yet we go on, drifting
Dont understand where we began just drifting apart
Drifting apart feeling alone drifting away
We cant seem to work it out
Drifting from day to day
Wasnt it all about, drifting away
Drifting away, drifting away
Losing the feeling
And now the music of the song is almost gone
That we used to play
From sweet surrender from drifting away, drifting
Two lovers lost two rivers crossed, drifting
Two bridges burned, no lesson learned, drifting
Lonely together, hurting each other
Still we cant say that its over
Can we bring back yesterday?
Will we be forever, forever drifting away
Drifting, drifting away

Bliss
Bliss
Is sitting
Relaxed in the sun
Reading a good book
Poking at family
In the jest of fun
Bliss
Is watching
A girly movie
With tissue
And pop corn
Ready to laugh and cry
At movies we love to watch
Bliss
Is sitting on a beach
Listening to the tide
As it ripples roll back and forth
In the morning and evening tide
Bliss is
Watching a waterfall
Cascade in droplets of light
That reflects off a rainbow
In its dewy wake
Bliss
Is watching your child
Breathing in their sleep
Then singing a lullaby
Late into the night
Then tucking them to sleep
Your precious little soul
Ahh Bliss what a wonderful life

what can you do?
when you promise
to try not to sleep late
but thoughts stampede

Depression Hurts
Depression hurts when you grow old
And life has passed you by
No more dreams to think about
Or even wishes to come true
You lose a friend and then another and
There's no past to talk about
No laughter, only tears to shed
That others cannot see
Depression hurts no matter what you try
It breaks you down till nothing matters
Life doesn't matter either
You come or go, who cares
No one that really cares too much
No friend thats left to tell your troubles to
No love that puts its arms around you
And holds you close.
Why stay and sit in this old chair
With nothing to do day after day
Smoke cigarettes, why not
Its too late now to care
Goodbye to this life I would gladly say
Why God won't take me now
I do not know because he knows I want to go
Home with others that I love
There's more up there than down here
More love from friends in heaven
No friends do I count down here
Depression hurts, it hurts down deep inside
It breaks your heart and destroys your mind
Your thoughts are eratic and blown
Until the thoughts that used to come
Are gone forever, depression hurts
In Between Those Moments Gone
In between those moments gone,
And those wished to be...
I finally realized,
I can not continue to analyze my life.
It has to be lived.
In the time given I am living it!
This life!
My life.
And right I wanted it.
Free of tricks and traps.
No more patience could I give to that!
In between those moments gone,
And those wished to be...
I had to let go!
From the redoing of the 'what ifs'.
And the sitting with emotions reminisced,
To feel them still existing.
'Something' had to end.
I knew it was 'my' resisting.
And...
In between those moments gone,
I learned how to begin to believe...
In me!
And severing myself away from conflict,
Was no longer a question welcomed to visit.
It became my duty.
My reality.
To free my soul.
In between those moments gone,
And those wished to be...
I knew I had to maintain and hold onto my dreams.

Time For Bed
its time to sleep little child,
so sleep tight,
lights out tonight,
your screaming dear,
why oh why sweet child,
must you shed those tears,
for tomorrow is another day,
the sun will be shining when you wake,
a whole nother day,
to live your simple life and play,
with no worries,
no fears,
so tonights tears,
will be tomorrows joys,
as you sit and play with toys,
so sleep tonight,
sleep so tight,
its time for bed,
my little child,
midnight is so late,
for a child so mild.

Can't Fall Asleep
My thoughts keep me up at night,
my tears put me to sleep,
my dreams wake me up,
after only an hour of sleep.
I can't rest no more,
I can't fall back to sleep,
so I lie in bed for hours at a time,
watching the clock as the time keeps going by.
I toss and I turn,
trying to find something comforable,
but when I'm almost asleep,
my thoughts wake me up again.
So I lay there thinking the thoughts,
that wont leave me alone.
I try time and time again,
but I cant fall back to sleep.
Finally I fall asleep,
but then i quickly hear a noise,
it is my alarm telling me to get up for the day ahead,
but it doesnt realize that I've been up all night.
Thinking, thinking of those thoughts that won't let me sleep.
So I quickly turn off the annoying buzzing noise,
and there I lay in my bed,
dreading the day ahead.

Sleep's Dark And Silent Gate
Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonder
Where my life will lead me
Waiting to pass under Sleep's dark and silent gate
I found my love too late
Running around day after day
Looking for the time to play
While my old friends slipped away
Never should have had to try so hard
To make a love work out, I guess
I don't know what love has got to do with happiness
But the times when we were happy
Were the times we never tried
Sitting down by the highway
Looking down the road
Waiting for a ride
I don't know where I've been
Wishing I could fly away
Don't know where I'm going
Wishing I could hide
Oh God this is some shape I'm in
When the only thing that makes me cry
Is the kindness in my baby's eye
Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonder
Where the years have gone
They have all passed under
Sleep's dark and silent gate

Dreaming Of 4000
Saviour of the night came slowly on the silent river
And the lord of life came following, his sins to be forgiven
While the world sat back and laughed away the hours
Till the dawning of the daybreak
I heard them laugh I heard them cry
I saw them praying to the sky
I heard the wind howl in the trees
Down there on bended knee
And I see the light
But I know I must be dreaming
Feel the soul, quiet emotion
Sail on by, helpless devotion
If thats how it feels, it better be real
Take care of your woman
Or youll never ever see the light
Take heed of the warnin
Or you know its gonna be too late
Here, there, everywhere
They keep on movin without fear
They look me up, they look me down
They press my body to the ground
But I see the light, see the light its comin shinin
And on a summers day
When thoughts are drifting far away
And life is good and real to see
My world is saved and I am free
But in the night
Still I know I must be dreaming

You Are The Everything
Sometimes I feel like I cant even sing (say, say, the light)
Im very scared for this world
Im very scared for me
Eviscerate your memory
Heres a scene
Youre in the back seat laying down
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine
All you hear is time stand still in travel
And feel such peace and absolute
The stillness still that doesnt end
But slowly drifts into sleep
The stars are the greatest thing youve ever seen
And theyre there for you
For you alone you are the everything
I think about this world a lot and I cry
And Ive seen the films and the eyes
But Im in this kitchen
Everything is beautiful
And she is so beautiful
She is so young and old
I look at her and I see the beauty
Of the light of music
The voices talking somewhere in the house
Late spring and youre drifting off to sleep
With your teeth in your mouth
You are here with me
You are here with me
You have been here and you are everything
(repeat 1st verse)

Perfect Moment
The perfect moment with the perfect person.
I'm quite suprised they're here with me.
Despite all my dreams,
I'd never have believed.
That at this moment it would finally be.
So here it is.
Finally knowing the perfect kiss.
Holding hands in perfect bliss.
It's so unreal,
my head is shrouded in a mist.
I can hardly believe such luck as this.
I never want this moments end.
In the greatest joy your sweetness lends.
The greatest moment which truth defends.
We hold the greatest love in lifes great plan.
Never ending and doing all we can.
To make it through with Gods' great helping hand.

Remember
I remember moments of happiness
Coming home, goo goo eyed
After talking to a boy I liked
I remember moments of sadness
Coming home, teary eyed
After leaving my heart as a memento
To that boy I really liked
I remember moments of peace
After winning one of life's battles
Having a conscience the weight of air
I remember moments of bliss
After walking the quarter of a lifemile
Finding a true friend
I remember moments of grief
After finding that dear friend
Would never have breakfast again
I remember moments of laughter
After the past had past
And the rearview revealed frustration's
humor
I remember moments of tears nectar
When I found my dreams dead
After the doctor helped me number my
days
I remember moments of pain
When all I ever needed was lacked
And all I ever lacked was needed
I remember moments of gain
After all I ever wanted was mine
And all I ever wanted to be was I
I remember moments of love
When a hug made my heart skip
And a smile made my life smile
I remember moments of hurt
When pain blurred love's beauty
And that hug made my heart shrug
I remember moments like this
When I remember all I remember
And remember that life is but a moment.

The Girl I Left Behind Me
With sweet Regret — (the dearest thing that Yesterday has left us) —
We often turn our homeless eyes to scenes whence Fate has reft us.
Here sitting by a fading flame, wild waifs of song remind me
Of Annie with her gentle ways, the Girl I left behind me.
I stood beside the surging sea, with lips of silent passion —
I faced you by the surging sea, O brows of mild repression!
I never said — “my darling, stay!” — the moments seemed to bind me
To something stifling all my words for the Girl I left behind me.
The pathos worn by common things — by every wayside flower,
Or Autumn leaf on lonely winds, revives the parting hour.
Ye swooning thoughts without a voice — ye tears which rose to blind me,
Why did she fade into the Dark, the Girl I left behind me.
At night they always come to me, the tender and true-hearted;
And in my dreams we join again the hands which now are parted;
And, looking through the gates of Sleep, the pleasant Moon doth find me
For ever wandering with my Love, the Girl I left behind me.
You know my life is incomplete, O far-off faint Ideal!
When shall I reach you from a depth of darkness which is real?
So I may mingle, soul in soul, with her that Heaven assigned me;
So she may lean upon my love, the Girl I left behind me.

A Heartfelt Letter Unsigned
It seems I am only good with words
When I write them in my silent hours
Of all the things I have wished to say
But never found the moment or courage
I find myself saddened by my thoughts
All of which surround my thoughts of you
I think you are amazing, kind and so strong
You are beautiful in many ways I cannot count
Your nature and spirit I have come to know
Shows you to be funny and loving
You put a spring in my heart, a song in my step
I would love to hold you each night
Look after way and love you always
But alas, a time has come I must face
That moment of courage and opportunity
I think it matters not anyway
I have listened to my mind and heart argue
And wish I could look through any eyes
Other my own, when I look at you
A time has come to say goodbye, to move on
I wish to take you from my heart
Place you by my side as a friend and nothing more
If only my thoughts were not my own
If only I could look through another’s eyes
Perhaps I would not need to write these words
Because moving on from you
Is the hardest most difficult decision in life
You will always be so beautiful to me
And in loving you I must say goodbye

Up All Night
Is everybody happy now?
Is everybody clear?
We could drive out to the dunes tonight,
'cause summer's almost here.
And I've been up all night,
I might sleep all day.
Get your dreams just right
Let them slip away,
I might sleep all day.
When the roads are clear,
We'll head on out of here,
If you're coming back,
I'll see you in the morning
I'm just staring at
the ceiling staring back at me,
Just waiting for the daylight to come crawling in on me...
And I've been up all night,
I might sleep all day.
Get your dreams just right
And let them slip away,
I might sleep all day.
Ohhh...It's too late to get high now.
2X
fix your hair just right
Put your jeans on tight,
Wear a dress, so I can get it off real easy.
'Cause I've been thinking I'd
like to see your eyes
open up real wide the minute that you see me.
If you don't come through,
I wouldn't wait for you.
I understand that everyone goes disappearing,
into the greatest grey
that covers over everyday,
and hovers in the distance and the distance and the distance...
I've been up all night,
I might sleep all day.
Get your dreams just right
let them slip away,
I might sleep all day.
Ohh...It's too late to get high now.
2X
Baby I'm not alone
only wanna get high

Drifting
I'm drifting I'm drifting
In a sea far away
Begging and pleading
Come save me today
I bob up and down
In the ocean I made
Come rescue me now
For I start to fade
I'm drifting I'm drifting
In an ocean of fears
Choking and gagging
On my fallen tears
Waves crest my head
And I struggle to breathe
As my life slips away
In a circing wreathe
I'm drifting I'm drifting
Far from the shore
Just wishing that I
Would pass through the door
And into a place
Where my drifting is done
And fing peace at last

daddy Would Come To Rock Your Cradle..
Mother said, 'Sleep baby sleep, daddy would come to rock your cradle..'
But Daddy you never came...
I waited for you in the lonely nights but you never came...
Mother said, 'Sleep baby sleep, daddy would come to rock your cradle..'
It was a moonlit night I found myself talking to the stars..'when would daddy come to tell me a story..' Now that I don't sleep in the cradle..
The wind whispered in my ear, 'Sleep baby sleep, Daddy would come when you'd blow your b'day candle..'
I remember what my Mother said..'Sleep baby sleep.....
It was my B'day..I din't blow a candle but I closed my eyes to make a wish..and I found myself saying 'Daddy you never came, please come & make me blow a candle.'
But Daddy you never came & things are not the same....
They don't love me anymore & I am waiting for you...one day you will knock the door...
Its been so many years & I'm learning how to survive..I'm lonely, my fears don't let me trust anyone..
The light of love never shines on me...
The baby inside me is so scared to open up...It still yearns for love & protection, which never rained on me...
Wish all my tears become a wish & then I then I won't cry because of the fear of loosing a wish which time could never erase...
I wish to become a baby once again, I won't sleep b'cos I want to see mommy & daddy together...
I want to relive all those moments which I spent without you...
I want to ask so many questions daddy...
Why din't you wipe my tears when I was surrounded by unknown fears..?
Did you sleep at night when I was fighting with my demons..?
Would you love me, would you hug me one day..?
I promise I'll try to forgive you.....
But I know you will never come, b'cos..you never cared for us..you are happy in your world...
I know we've come a long way & it doesn't hurt anymore...
Things will change for good..I am sure..
Oh...but it still hurts when I hear some mother singing this song once again..

Lets End Bulling!
Pain drawn near.
Breathing has gotten hard.
Tears fill my eyes.
My thoughts go crazy.
Blood flowing free,
Welts on my wrist.
Splits in the skin,
No more suffering.
Little girl,
Sitting alone.
Her thoughts are sad,
The pain is heavy.
No one will help her.
There is no one there.
Any body save this one,
Bulling and torment,
Haunt her in her dreams.
They don't see,
Their words have killed her.
Blood on the ground,
Life leaving her eyes.
The bedroom door,
Locked on the inside.
Yelling out,
To my only daughter.
Banging with all my might.
I finally kick the door in.
Froze in shock.
My daughter in a pool of blood.
A shocked mother,
Just found her daughter.
Pale and cold.
Note on her bed,
Saying that she is sorry.
Bullied and talked down.
Pain was her last thought.
She wasn't good enough.
The mother runs for the girl,
Knowing it is too late.
Tears flowing free,
She was to late.
The little girls life,
Is lost to the razor.
I lost my little girl.
She is all I had.
My husband died in the war.
Sad and lonely.
I'll do my best,
To make sure any other little girl,
Doesn't have the same fate.
A strong mother,
Lost the one person she loved.
Due to bulling at a school,
Not even at the brink of life.
Just the begining of the journey.
Never to see,
The meaning of her life.

The Greatest Gift Of All (feat. Dolly Parton)
(John B. Jarvis)
Dawn is slowly breaking
Our friends have all gone home
You and I are waiting
For Santa Claus to come.
There's a present by the tree
Stockings on the wall
Knowing you're in love with me
Is the greatest gift of all.
The fire is slowly fading
Chill is in the air
All the gifts are waiting
For children everywhere.
Through the window I can see
Snow begin to fall
Knowing you're in love with me
Is the greatest gift of all.
Just before I go to sleep
I hear a church bell ring
Merry Christmas everyone
Is the song it sings.
So I pray a silent prayer
For creatures great and small
Peace on earth, good will to men
Is the greatest gift of all.
Peace on earth, good will to men
Is the greatest gift of all...
