Moments like knife cuts
They’re too silly to be serious,
too serious to be silly…
those moments when your raw
adolescent ego (and how long it lasted…)
is hurt to the quick…
how you’d like to forget it,
it’s so trivial… but you can’t;
so then, you’d like to laugh at it;
maybe make a jokey verse about it…
but that doesn’t work, either…
and, as if it mattered…
when I was forever desperate
for the approval of any stranger,
let alone a friend,
someone brought along to meet us
such a stranger whom we all admired,
all wished to be…
discreetly, we presented him
with what we hoped would find
some favour in his eyes…
the report on the two of us
came back: ‘One has a mean mouth;
the other is a nonentity…’
the ‘other one’ reported this to me;
could not bear to speculate, I felt,
which, he, which, me…
fifty years ago,
it’s still rattling around in the memory,
waiting to be erased,
or to be laughed out of court…
adolescence, once, is quite enough:
I’m still wondering, which one to choose
that would have hurt me more…

Silly, Silly Fool
(kenneth gamble / leon huff)
Such a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i
Oh, i, just a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i
Hey, I should have never fallen
Back in love with you
Knowin how you get a pleasure
Breaking my poor heart in two
You made it sound so convincin
When you said
Im your woman, youre my man
Now I really need you
And I sit here a loser again
I guess Im just a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i, oh i
Im such a silly, silly, silly, silly, fool am i, mmm
I should have never trusted
In my heart to lead the way
Now my mind is all busted
Thats a fools price to pay
You made it sound so convincin
When you said youd never, never go away
I should have never listened
To anything you had to say
Im such a silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i, yes I am
Im such a silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i, oh
Such a silly, silly, dilly, silly, dilly fool am i, oh yeah
Im such a silly, silly, silly, silly, silly fool am i, oh yes I am
Im such a silly, silly, dilly, silly, dilly, silly fool am i, oh yeah

Overturn
I've tried to forget the sound of your voice
And your straight auburn hair,
The excited way that you talk,
The poetic sway of your long legs
When through the city you'd walk;
I've tried to forget the music in the air
Anytime that we've met,
Your favorite songs or the books that you've read,
Your travels abroad and exotic thoughts,
Your sexy fedora and party dress.
I've tried to forget a thousand poems
That recount your eyes when you're sad
Or the melancholy of your mouth in the moment
Of a secret hurt you couldn't reveal,
I've tried to forget the sound of your name
And the way it makes me feel.
I've told myself I can abandon
Any memory of you,
That I can easily make it through my existence
Without any recollections of you,
That if anything were to remain,
It would only be contempt and disdain.
But you and I know none of this is true,
That there isn't any thought of you
That doesn't leave me staggering
Like a drunk on a staircase,
That there's nothing in me
That wouldn't weep to touch your face,
That there's no rendezvous or place
In which I would fail to meet you
At your slightest behest.
You're happy now and I'm content
To be your stranger or your friend,
But you have to be cognizant that nothing has changed,
Nothing has been constructed in me
That a single word from you could not overturn.

Only Makes Me Laugh
I don't know why i feel this way
I don't know if it's right or wrong to laugh at misfortune
Darkness can never last too long
Every time i think i'm falling
And there's nobody around to hold me up
And it seems like the world has come to an end
I look for miles but not a face is friendly
Then suddenly a hole opens up in the ground
The bottom of the hole is a raging fire
I try to jump over but there's no way
The next thing i know, i'm going down
(chorus)
Does it hurt?
Oh, it really doesn't matter
Does it burn?
Oh, i don't feel a thing
Does it sting?
Oh, yeah, it really doesn't matter
Does it hurt?
Oh, i don't give a damn
When i find myself falling and i hit the bottom
It only makes me laugh
It only makes me laugh
When i go down the hole and i hit the bottom
The last time that i fell in love
The love was milk and honey but the milk turned sour
The woman became a monster
And everyone i knew had become a stranger
And the room went black and my luck was spent
The floor opened up, down i went
(repeat chorus)
It only makes me laugh
It only makes me laugh
It only makes me laugh
Coming right back
Coming right back
'cause you can't keep me down
Can't keep me down
Oh, in the ground
Does it hurt?
Oh, it really doesn't matter
Does it burn?
Oh, i don't feel a thing
I don't mind just a little pain
Ooh, oh yeah
Whoa...
Remembering when i was a young man
How everything seemed to turn against me
I didn't know a soul, it was an alien place
The sun was covered by a dark cloud
And though i tried, i couldn't find a way to escape
The only way to go was straight down
(repeat chorus)
It only makes me laugh
It only makes me laugh
It only makes me laugh
It only makes me laugh
I don't know why i feel this way
I don't know if it's right or wrong to laugh at misfortune
Darkness can never last too long...
When you laugh in its face
When you laugh in its face
I don't know why i feel this way...

Lost Horizon
Now I guess its too late to speculate
On things as they might have been
That given the time, youd read my mind
And know there was love within
I could loudly exclaim we felt the same
But not in all honesty
Now youll never know
How could you know the friend that you had in me
Ive got so much to learn now
Lessons I never had
When you lose a friend forever
Hurts so bad
Ooh it hurt me so bad
I had always believed that you and me
Were connected by destiny
But the time never came
It sounds so lame
Is it all just my vanity?
Am I the only one to feel the sun
Exactly the way I do?
When you sang how you felt Id tell myself
Maybe someday Ill sing with you
Ive got so much to hope for
Dreams that Ive never had
When youve got no one to share them
Hurts so bad
Ooh it hurt me so bad
I have an ideal I think is real
But I just cant find it
I believe that one day
Ill melt away into that lost horizon
Ooh it hurt me so bad
That you had an ideal you knew was real
And you went out to find it
And you found it one day
Youve gone to stay into that lost horizon

Silence is Deafening
Hush, silly girl, stop breathing.
Hush, silly girl, keep it inside.
Stop, silly girl, wipe you tears.
Stop, silly girl, your crying.
Quit, silly girl, stay still.
Quit, silly girl, don’t move.
Close, silly girl, your eyes.
Close, silly girl, your mouth.
Don't, silly girl, bite my hand.
Don't, silly gril, kick my side.
Yes, silly girl, you’re mine.
Yes, silly girl, you’re mine.
I am before you.
I won’t adore you.
I control you.
You are mine.
Hush.

Don't Cry
Give me time
To realize my crime
Let me love and steal
I have danced inside your eyes
How can I be real
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Precious kisses
Words that burn me
Lovers never ask you why
In my heart
The fires burning
Choose my color
Find a star
Precious people always tell me
That's a step
A step too far
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Words are few
I have spoken
I could waste a thousand years
Wrapped in sorrow
Words are token
Come inside and catch my tears
You've been talking but believe me
If its true
You do not know
This boy loves without a reason
I'm prepared to let you go
If its love you want from me
Then take it away
Everything is not what you see
It's over again
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry...

Such Is Life
The importance of what we live by,
holding strong, making fight....as time fly's! ! !
All is a matter of perspective,
you know..
the life you live! ! !
To me :) the soul conquers all,
only the petty will fall.
In the truth I have lived just today,
memory of life is all that will stay.
Yes there is ups and downs,
silly people make you frown...
but in the end,
when you close your eyes...
It's only you...
no private lies.
Seeing picture after picture,
from fifty years....
somehow....
their life....
and a few tears :)
Every moment,
every word,
every picture,
every hurt,
a memory :)
Yes, such is life! ! ! ! !
Yes! ! ! !
The Woman at the Crossroad Who Laughed
As I walked up the pavement, up the slight hill
to the traffic lights at the crossroads outside the station,
I saw her waiting to cross.
Or rather, I saw first, her laugh..
She held the hand of her son
as she exchanged words with a passing friend
and laughed..
and what I saw in her eyes, her whole face,
as she laughed, was that as she laughed -
(did she know this? How could I tell her, a stranger?
Lady, lady, at the crossroad of our lives,
I’m writing this poem for you now…)
as she laughed, while she laughed,
I saw that she was in touch, the whole of her,
with her deepest self – just that… all that…
and as I saw that self, which was
(Lady, are you reading this?)
the perfection of perfection, all that’s perfect…
it was as if – no, it was just so –
her self looked at me, and so
the perfect looked at the perfect;
herself and mine together laughed,
laughed at imperfection
and as the perfect looked, it saw perfection
spreading through my eyes from our shared self
so that her son was perfect; and her friend was perfect;
and all around us, every they and it were perfect..
(Lady, Lady, at the Cross’s foot,
was it like this for You?)
the light turned green. And we were free
to cross the road; and
free to live; and
free to laugh away illusion; and
free to be ourselves; forever,
in that time which is forever.
Lady, by my faith, this by my hand;
and with my life I do yet swear
upon my life, this to be true;
Lady, hear, in this my orison,
there are no sins
to be remembered.

If I Was A Stranger
(wally rathie/tom rathie/ed stevens)
Published by beeg tunes/frankly blond music - bmi
If I was a stranger, lookin for love, standin in the rain
And if I needed some help from above
Would consolation be enough
Would you remember, could we forget
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, to the end
Ive been waiting all of my life, for love to arrive
Now that I found you, my soul is alive
This dedication will survive
I still remember, that night we met
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, till the end
Ive been waiting such a long time
For this love to come along
True devotion is so hard to find
Could you give your heart again
Wash away my loneliness
Would you remember, could we forget
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, to the end
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, to the end

Silly Boy Blue
Mountains of lhasa are feeling the rain
People are walking the botella lanes
Preacher takes the school
One boy breaks a rule
Silly boy blue, blue
Silly boy blue
Yak butter statues that melt in the sun
Cannot dissolve all the work youve not done
A chela likes to feel
That his overself pays the bill
Silly boy blue, blue
Silly boy blue
You wish and wish, and wish again
Youve tried so hard to fly
Youll never leave your body now
Youve got to wait to die
La la la la la , la la , la la la la
La la la la la , la la , la la la la
La la la , la la
La la la , la la
Silly boy blue, blue
Silly boy blue
Child of tibet, youre a gift from the sun
Reincarnation of one better man
The homeward road is long
Youve left your prayers and song
Silly boy blue , blue
Silly boy blue
Silly boy blue
Silly boy blue

Silly Confusion
Meet me on the moon very very soon
Meet me on the stars jupiter and mars
Fly me to a star
Burning out in space shining on my face
Fly me through the night on your silver wings
Over crystal seas valleys of the kings
By the lilac shore where the dragon flies
In the diamond skies
Silly silly confusion
And tangle of wild illusion
Were living in a wonderworld of fantasy
We spent all our times in sweet living dreams
Its a silly silly confusion
Like a flower of wild profusion
You can do the things in life
You always wanted to
Within your heart you know it always will come through
Take me for a ride in your dream-machine
To a time and place where no one has been
Let me look upon worlds Ive never seen
In your dream-machine
Fly me to a star burning out in space
Let me feel the light shining on my face
Sail on solar winds sail on silver birds
Through the universe
Silly silly confusion...
Its a silly silly confusion...
Silly silly confusion...
Its a silly silly confusion...
Silly silly confusion
Silly silly confusion

Do What You've Gotta (8 Years Ago)
Do what you've gotta
Cause you've just gotta do what you've gotta do in life.
Cause I'll do what I've gotta do
I don't give a damn what you've gotta do
but I will say I'm so... you know... sick of you!
I used to say I loved your eyes,
your smile and your laugh, but I lied!
now we can take seperate paths
cause we're more than through
your not even my mate
so leave my life so I can, ... concentrate!
on what I've gotta do, where I've gotta go
if some guy sleeps with you, your not mine, no!
cause our love sparkled for a long time
but we lost the sparkle we lost the shine
but looking back I wouldn't turn back the time
cause we were like the sky without the blue
I'll forget you, try something new, just continue
cause we're given the choice do what we whatta
we will leave each other, do what we gotta.
I'm just forgetting everything else in life
and just doing what I've gotta do.
Just doing what I've gotta do.
This was one of the first ever things I wrote
it just made me laugh but forget the forced rimes
and forget some of the silly slang
I said gotta and whatta on the last lines!
But it doesn't matter cause they are long gone times
but one thing has come from it which is not bad
cause sometimes you've 'gotta' go back
you've 'gotta' go back to find the fire you once had.

Stranger In A Strange Land
Stranger, stranger in a stange land.
He looked at me as one who should run.
We asked him to smile for a photograph.
Waited a while to see if we could make him laugh.
So did I seek for a cigarette.
His smiling face I cant forget.
It looked like it crossed the street.
He said, Ill wait here.
I wish you were here.
I wish you were here.
Stranger, stranger in a strange land.
He look at me like I was the one who should run.
I watched as he watched us get back on the bus.
I watched there it was.
The way it was there.
He was with us.
And I really dont mind sleeping on the floor.
I cant sleep after what I saw.
I wrote this letter to tell you,
The way I feel.
I wish you were here.
To see what I could see, and hear.
I wish you were here.

Pain (lyrics)
Regret sits heavy in your chest until sometimes it gets so hard to breathe
Sometimes it just wont go away and you start to feel you will never be
And when you think back on those times it seems so close just beyond your reach
Until past vanishes like smoke from a cigarette in the night breeze
Please stop this pain
Hurt for so long
Pain
Hurt for so long
I've felt this way for so long
How is it that things turn out this way?
What you hold most dear has come and gone
Seems the time that everything was right
Now it just feels wrong, oh so wrong
And your still dreaming of the time
When the day will come, it was meant to be
And your still dreaming of the way
To reach that place that you've never been
Please stop this pain
Hurt for so long
Pain
Hurt for so long
I've felt this way for so long
Pain
Hurt for so long
Pain
Hurt for so long
Pain
Hurt for so long
Pain
Hurt for so long
I've felt this way for so long

The one who laugh and the one be hurt
I will let my love
Fly from my arms
The one who laugh is me
The one be hurt also me
I will let my love
Free to reach dream
The one who laugh is me
The one be hurt also me
Nothing can be compared
With my lover’s happiness
The one who laugh is me
The one be hurt also me
Why I should doubt to choose
Or force to keep in my cage
The one who laugh is me
The one be hurt also me

Brand New Man
She never had respect for me
She knew I had a family
But I blame it all on you
She used to be a friend to me
And now I cant stand to see
Her when she comes around
See both of yall let me down
And now its all over town
How could you do me that way?
Now that I got me a brand new man
You cant even understand
Shes been wondering where we stand
I aint got time you can have that man
Now that I got me a brand new home
I dont have to be alone
Got somebody who understands
I got a brand new man
See everything was cool with us
But you took advantage of my trust
Your crossed my faith in you, yes you did
He used to belong to me, how silly could you both be
I knew it all the time
I never thought you would do those things you did
Are you even concerned what I told the kids
(what I told the kids? because I cried yes I cried baby)
Now it dont matter cause baby Im over you
Cant forgive you for the stress you put me through
But what goes around, comes right back around again
Now that I got me a brand new man
You cant even understand
Shes been wondering where we stand
I aint got time you can have that man
Now that I got me a brand new home
I dont have to be alone
Got somebody who understands
I got a brand new man

If you ever been hurt keep your head up
If you been hurt, keep your head up, youll find
If you ever been hurt keep your head up
If you been hurt keep your head up, head up

Why?
Muir-Siegel-
Why? Why does it have? Have to be...this way
When? When will I know? What I should...and why I didn't
Why? Why. Does it keep coming back? Straight in my face. Face
Yet I can't see it. How? How. How could I be? Be so dumb. Dumb
Dumber than dumb. You dummy!
Where? Where am I now. Am I still here...and which way am I going?
What? What did you say? I heard you laugh
What the hell is so funny?
Why? Why. Won't you show your face? Face
Show me who you are. Are. God, I hate you!
You. You. You make me sick. Sick. So sick I puke
Puke. Damn you digust me!
Please. Please don't be crueler than I...already am to me
Where? Where will I find? Find some peace...I'll even take a sliver!
Why? Why. Why does it hurt? Hurt. Hurt so bad! Bad
Yet I just take it!
Why? Why. Why does it hurt? Hurt. Hurt so bad! Bad
Yet I still take it!
When. When it goes. I wonder where
And I get so jealous!
When. When will I learn? And if I do...what will it teach me?
Why? Why. Why does it hurt? Hurt so bad? Bad
Yet I still take it!
Why? All I'm asking is why? Why
All I'm asking is why? Why?
This ain't no animal magnetism!
Why? Why. Why does it hurt? Hurt
Hurt so bad? Bad. And I just take it
Why? Why. All I'm asking is why? Why
All I'm asking is why? Why?
Don't tell me animal magnetism

Strangers no longer for My Lady Irene
A stranger is a friend you have not met
Do not be too quick to forget,
that you and I were strangers too.
Though when we met we quickly knew
this was the start of something new.
We have no reason to regret.
The many times we could have met,
But it was not the right time yet.
The time and place I would meet you
Had been decreed by Fate who knew.
You needed me, I needed you.
Though we were strangers still as yet.
Though not for long once we had met.
We still had heartaches to forget.
You trusted me, I trusted you.
It seemed somehow that we both knew,
that we had been intended to
each help the other to forget.
We had been hurt, betrayed, upset
and bitter memories lingered yet
of partners who had proved untrue.
This was our chance to start anew.
I was quite sure and so were you.
This was what we were meant to get.
We were alone before we met
Quite certain that we not get
another love who would be true.
But we were forced to change our view
when you found me and I found you.
Life is as good as it can get

On this silly hill
On this silly hill I remember the silly things
That we did
We were so young and we decided to pick
Some ripe mangoes on this silly
Isolated hill away from
Our teasing
Silly friends
And I really liked her a lot
My heart was trembling
Her heart too quivering
We felt we like each other
Feelings like hot chili
Heating our ears
We said we love each other
We promised to love each other
Till the end of days
And so I climbed the mango tree
And picked the most luscious
Delicious mangoes as may be gleaned
From their color and shape
Thinking all the best for her
That I could give
To her
I put all the mangoes in my shirt
And I was silly looking silly like a tray to her
And she picked them one by one
Near my chest lower to my tummy
Nearer to my bulge
I was breathless
As she took more
Ripe mangoes from me
Slowly
Gracefully
Peeling with her mouth and tongue
Licking the yellowish pulp
And she said the mangoes were all
So sweet smelling and delicious
Like me
She was craving
She was raving
I was simply receptive
Giving in
All
To what she wanted
She touched my heart and we were silly
On our teens we did
What married people did on this silly hill
Isolated from silly friends
We did something adventurous
We had something marvelous
We did all those silly things
Like wild horses
In nature’s ways
Galloping
Breath taking
The years passed and now I am reaching fifty
Looking back I remember the silly things that we
Young silly people on our early teens did on this silly hill
We went and parted and she married the right man for her
I too went my own separate direction, taking a wife on my own
Looking back,
I feel sad,
I feel happy
What we silly teeny people did which we think was silly
Was all done in the name of pure love so endless
We were all virgins in love & we all thought of nothing else
Love and love and love
The mango was a symbol also of love
The silly hill was the seat of love
The mango tree was a climb of love
The isolation was all in the name of love
The whole was but love’s marvel
Love’s adventure
Love and love and love was all that we had
All love and love
Pure love
Unmixed untainted unblemished unadulterated
And they think it was silly
And I once thought it was silly
On that silly hill remembering the silly things we did
The silly things we said and promised
We did not talk about money, politics and family strategy
We did not bother about inheritance, a family name, a community reputation
We were not told whom to marry and when and always why.
Love can be developed and marriage can always be arranged
That to me are the silly things that we people do to ourselves.

2 Find U
If I asked u a question
Would u look me in the eyes?
Has our love been built on lies?
Well, why I'm asking
U see, the time is now
2 turn our backs forever
Or work this through somehow
And I want 2 see u
I want 2 feel new again
[CHORUS]
Hey, U
Do not walk away
Let's choose love, come on
What do u say?
Hey, U
Know that I would spend
My whole life all over again
2 find U
We've layered hurt on hurt
I've seen pain cloud your eyes
But we are bruised, not broken
Like a phoenix, love will rise
And do U see me?
Do u feel new again?
[CHORUS]
Look in my eyes
Kiss my mouth hard
Let your conviction
Reassure my heart
Promise me now
I'll promise U, too
I love u
