Leaf
It was one of so many; an army
of greenness; anonymous footsoldier
in the cause of nature’s greater good.
It was tree.
First, as summer lingered into autumn,
it laid down its arms; the days of empire-building
over; no longer did it need
to fight in serried ranks for space.
Then next, laid down the need to breathe;
lingered strong upon the branch
as old soldiers do, before they fade away;
boasted now, beyond loyalty, all pride.
Now, its fire of life turned to new arts
in pensioned, eased retirement; learned
a new palette of colours,
yellows, reds, browns; how to shade
from one to another; how to take
the breath away with contrast.
Then, as it relinquished hold
on water, took up further skills;
learned precious, porcelain fragility;
discovered sculpture,
curled like a dancer’s sway,
found arabesques and curves of beauty
beyond the finest human artistry.
Finally, submitted to relinquish even earth.
A last curling fall at a moment’s puff of wind
all beyond its knowing
brought it onto the gatepost,
level with my eyes, just as I passed the gate;
displayed like some ballerina in the last pose
of some tragic, swan-necked dance, that time
could indeed stand still: so that even beauty
held her breath and waited…
in that moment outside time,
told me all unspoken things:
thoughts that rest too deep for tears;
there where tears meet joy.

The Colours Of Autumn
When shades of brown do mingle
With green upon the tree,
The work of G-d's creation
Is there for all to see.
The greens, reds, yellows and browns of Autumn
Are colours upon the trees,
But the colourful leaves are a-changing
When dropping on areas previously clean.
HIS season of Autumn is beautiful
With colours magnificent to view,
The Artist's palette of colours
Each year is displayed anew.

The Passing
The change, it comes so slowly
Like the winter of our lives,
It encroaches while we're playing,
While we're laughing with our wives,
As the children wave goodbye
The first brief chill will still the air,
And that silence settles on us
As they turn, and close the door.
Then we stare long at each other
But we find no words to say,
You have been the faithful mother
That I married, back some way,
But I see your smile has faded
With the passing of the years,
And you turn your face away so I
Won't see that trace of tears.
Are you thinking of that moment
When you held that new born child,
Of the joy of those first steps, or of
The day your baby smiled?
And the schooling and the learning
And the knees they brought home skinned,
Or the pride you took each time you watched
That graduation film.
While I find my own thoughts turning
To those days before we wed,
To your awesome, breathless beauty
As you passed, and turned my head,
Of that first-time kiss I savoured
Out beneath the apple tree,
When I took you to my heart, and you
First said you wanted me.
Now we're grey, and more like shadows
Since the lust in us has died,
And we rarely touch each other
Since we turned to ash inside,
For the years of work and struggle
Took their toll on you and I,
And I hear you every evening as
You go outside to cry.
All those dreams that ended shattered,
All those hopes that turned to tears,
Here we sit, both disillusioned
With the tolling of the years,
And we pass our friends unseeing
As we wander in the street,
We are ghosts, a long time passing
Now our story is complete.
We are like the leaves of autumn
That have fallen from the trees,
Blowing through our days unspoken
With each passing, gentle breeze,
We will fade and be forgotten
In the long term way of things,
But we'll cling in desperation for
What each last moment brings.

Leafs Of Autumn
As spring fades
Autumn slowy takes hold
Bright greens of every shade
Fade into rich reds, browns, and yellows
Twirling as swirling ever so gently
A delicate leaf gently kisses the ground
As time passes
More and more leafs
Leave the shelter of their home
Carried into the unknown by the wind
All is going to sleep now
All is beginning to lay dormant
Only waking when spring rays
Stirs the spark of life again

The Edge
I was blowing in the wind
And I can see the sun setting on the hill
Its almost gone and then hills are greener than Ive ever seen
And this feels too real to me
Just to know the change
Now dont let me leave this moment
Hold me in this place
Where everything is clearer than of all before
And everything makes sense
When you say
Stand on the edge
And dont be afraid to fall
Take a breath and tell me what you see
And you say
Stand on the edge
And dont be afraid to fall
Take a breathe and tell me what you see
As we sat down by the water
In my mind I felt a gentle breeze blew soft against my face
And we talked for hours
It didnt seem to matter what about
As long as I was there with you
Yeah and show me why
It is to believe in something greater than I cant understand
And show me why it is to believe
When you say
Stand on the edge
And dont be afraid to fall
Take a breath and tell me what you see
And you say
Stand on the edge of tomorrow
Dont close your eyes
Take a look around you
Tell me what you see
Tell me what you see
Tell me what you see
And you say stand on the edge
And dont be afraid to fall
Take a breath and tell me what you see
And you say
Stand on the edge and dont be afraid to fall
Take a breath and tell me what you see
Tell me what you see
Tell me what you see
When you say
Stand on the edge and dont be afraid to fall
Take a breath and tell me what you see
And you say stand on the edge of tomorrow
Dont close your eyes
Take a look around you, tell me what you see
Tell me what you see

Sublime
Volatile
The distance between the metal and my
chest
Sublime
The moment I realized a blink will open
eternity
Sorry
Five letters that slipped when I knew I
was wrong
Why
The question that lingered as my
memory faded to dust
When
Did it all go wrong...did I all go wrong
Lachryma
The water that hit the ground before the
final act
Water
A breath in time when life drowned me
Hmmm
The sound the metal releases as it closes
the curtain
Rewind
A pause in time...I race to my past
Do
So many things...too many dreams
Love
Life's too short to let hurt linger
Give
All of me to him who made me and the
lives that need me
Mistakes
I wipe them all...or maybe not...they
made me, me
If
All my days where just one breath, what
would I do?
Him
The one I searched for my whole
life...and never met
Wish
The rewind was a wish...that never came
true
Struggle
The fight I fought to tell you this
I Love you
The words I failed to act in all the time I
was given
Time
The moments you have to write your life
Breathe
The curtain closes.

Autumn can make me laugh or cry...
I saw the golden aspens glow,
In the bright sun of the day;
I was transported to a place,
Three thousand miles away.
The color of the autumn trees,
Shone in autumn's light;
And the reflection of it all,
Gave me reds and yellows bright.
The splendor of the leaves,
As they are dying,
Can make you weep,
and start you crying.
Tears for all the things that are,
Tears for all the things to be;
Tears for all the things now past,
and tears for pleasant memories.
Fall can make me laugh or cry,
Fall can bring me joy or sorrow;
The changing of the seasons,
Make me anticipate tommorow.
Autumn goes away too soon,
God, please, make it linger;
Tuck away your summer's ring,
and put autumn on your finger.

Autumnal Thoughts for M'lady Ernestine.
The days grow short and shorter still
The evenings hold a hint of chill.
The sun goes early to his rest.
The time approaches I love best
When natures shows her artistry
abandoning propriety
To suit her autumn madcap mood.
She is determined that she should
Use every shade in her palette.
Create a sight you can’t forget
and she succeeds so easily.
By making certain every tree.
Will don their autumn finery
Their gaudy colours pleasing me

Saving Those Behind Barriers (Revised in Line Form)
Reaching across the barriers.
Trying to be a savior.
Staving off the the attacks, from all directions.
Hit me come on kick me, beat hell out of me.
I'll get back up the very next moment.
Cant rest my head.
This is pure devotion.
A love so strong, that even if I don't belong.
I wont walk away.
I will fight with each breath.
Failure can not come.
I will not be undone.
By you or anyone else.
Treading on the ice so thin afraid I might fall in.
It just cant happen cause I don't know how long I will be able to swim.
I have finally been forgiven and now I'm on a mission save as many as I can. So I can't end up dead in the cold and still water.
I got to be smarter.
I got to tie a rope to the landing before I venture in.
I can save those who are in need if only not at the cost of one self.
A death in vain.
A death under a false pretense.
Does no one any good.
So please wait for me.
Hold on a little longer.
I'll be right there.
As soon I take a deep breath of air.

Natural Occurances
Tears fall like morning dew,
Not once but twice I am losing you,
You are like the air I breathe.
And I crave each breath more and more.
To touch you was to lay in the tall grass,
On a warm summer day,
I laid there drinking in all of your beauty.
Now I'm tasting the bitterness of my tears,
Falling like morning dew,
My air supply is no more,
And I lay shameless in the dead of the winter,
Waiting for the tall grass to come again.
It's the same old thing
Happening to us once again.

Beauty, Beautious, Beautiful
Beauty is not a superficial form
Each has their own in essential nature
And in the actions they perform
Until the dissolution of their life
To leave beauty’s impressions in our hearts
Yesterdays beauty never leaves or departs.
Beauty is all around
Each and every place it may be found
As you look with open eyes
Upon the forms that nature makes
Then man seeks to imitate
Yearning to match that beauty all around.
Beauty if you cannot find
Beauty must be in mind
Beauty is in purity
Beauty of simplicity
Beauty runs right through and through
Beauty in me, and them, and you.
Beauty, beauteous, beautiful
Beauty in heaven
Beauty in fire
Beauty in earth
And finally beauty in a simple verse.

Started As A Seed
My love for you started only as a seed when I first look upon your beauty.
Now my love has grown as strong and tall as a mighty redwood tree. I loose my breath each time I look upon your beauty, And how your beauty touches my heart and soul. Your beauty warms my heart like the sun on a cold winters day. I know God truly loves beautiful things. For out of his heart and with his might hands he made you. Only God him self could have made such beauty as yours. If there is a greater beauty I have yet to see it with my eyes.Your beauty has reached deep into my heart and soul and I thank God for that. I can only hope and dream that my love for you has touched your heart as well.

Shooting Star
Shooting stars, they blazed in the night sky,
As on the beach, didst two lovers stare into the sky.
She the princess and he her handsome prince
As they shared a soft moonlit kiss
Princess, beauty rare. To her prince without a flaw
Wanting nothing at all.
Whispers he, 'I love you always.'
So they live, happily ever always.
Alas, such a fairytale ending will never be.
For a small fire would change the princess you see.
No longer the soft flower of the meadow, in full bloom-
Now she was scarred and burnt - willing for death to take her soon.
She last remembered him, as they whisked her to the ER
His horrified face turning away as she was dragged from the car.
Weeks passed, she refused to see him, till finally he no longer called.
She no longer wanted to see the mirror, she was a flower that withered and wilted.
She ignored his messages, she didn't want to hear, his voice again,
To tell her that he could no longer see her like this again.
Now she stood trembling in a soft summer wind
Teetering on the edge of an endless abyss.
Staring out over a beach where so long ago,
Someone whispered to her, I love you, I really do.
But it was over now. Her beauty scarred beyond repair.
Some things you don't dream of, you wouldn't dare.
Her cold tears froze her face, carving down the scars that remained,
Wondering if she would ever live and breathe again.
An endless abyss, stretching in front of her, she felt herself falling towards the ground
When someone caught her arm and turned her round.
Her dashing prince was standing there. She looked away in shame.
He whispered her name as the heavens cried drops of rain.
Why didn't you answer? he asked, holding her tight.
Do you know that you've been on my mind every night?
He ran his hand through her hair, touched her face,
She felt her tears subside as he laid her fears to rest.
I'll always love you, he whispers in her ear.
And I'll love you forever still, as long as I am here.
I don't care what you think, he turned her face to the light,
I'm always going to be here for you, even in the darkest night.
No matter what happens, the damage and the scars,
I love you for who you are.
And as the shooting stars shot unseen across a stormy summer sky
He laid to rest her doubts and fears as he looked into her eyes

On The Outside
I may appear to be fit and strong
but that impression is completely wrong.
My grip on life is becoming less each day
and I can’t hold things in the normal way.
If I need to pee I have to go straight a way
where once I could hold it for hours each day.
I also cannot concentrate like I used to do
and a thought only lasts for a moment or two.
I once held dear the memories of my childhood days,
but now I can’t even remember what I was about to say.
At one time I could hold my breath for a very long time,
now I’d be lucky if I could hold it for a count of nine.
There’s another thing I can’t hold my alcohol like I used to do,
what I don’t spill goes to my head, or straight down the loo.
But I have found something I can hold for twice as long,
besides the obvious, it’s the new found ability to hold my tongue.

If Heaven Could Wait
If Heaven Could Wait by Kenny Davis
If heaven could wait
If only for a year
If only, but a slight moment longer
One chance more to hold her near
If heaven could only wait
If only just for a night
That my eyes may have a chance at one last glance
At her beauty once more in the moonlight
If heaven could only wait
If only for one last sunrise
A moment to gaze upon the majestic horizon
As the sun glistens from her eyes
If heaven could only wait
If only for an hour
Time to hold her tight
Before a time spent without her
Lord, why would you bless me with a love like this
Only to have it taken away
Can I please just have this one moment longer?
Oh, if heaven could only wait
If heaven could only wait
All I simply ask for is time
For the man who is blessed to have her heart
And for the woman proudly holding mine
Is it possible for heaven to wait?
If only for, but a season
One last chance to cherish moments with her
Please allow me this minute more within reason
Lord, please understand
Leaving her so soon, is very hard
To call up my soul from hers
Would cause me to shed heartbroken tears from the stars
Can Heaven have a time to wait?
To avoid this momentary hurt
Although I would love nothing more than to be with you Lord
She is, but my only tie here to this Earth.
After all of this pain, all of this time
I have finally found the one you have made for me
You have divinely favored me to find true love here on Earth
Only to tell me now I must leave?
If heaven could only wait
Long enough to have one last cry
As I look into her eyes, as we say our last goodbyes
Before you call me in the sky
It’s hard to say such things as this
When being with her and God means so much
I would die to be with both of them
From them, I would die for one last touch

One moment take thy rest
One moment take thy rest.
Out of mere nought in space
Beauty moved human breast
To tell in this far face
A dream in noonday seen.
Never to fade or pass;
A breath-time's mute delight;
A joy in flight:
The aught desire doth mean
Sighing, Alas!

I saw you and I learned this
I saw you and I learned this,
That love is crazy,
Now where would I go from here?
I will die in your arms
I saw you and I learned this,
My eyes, your dreams
My heart, your memories
Oh, what is there of mine?
Everything is yours
My life is yours, my breath is yours
In my eyes came your tears
All of my woes began to smile
I saw you and I learned this,
That love is crazy,
Now where would I go from here?
I will die in your arms
I saw you and I learned this,
This heart doesn't seem like anything
What do I say, what do I do?
Yes, in front of me
You stay seated
I will keep on looking at you
You called out, look I came
What vow is bigger than love?
I saw you and I learned this,
That love is crazy,
I saw you and I learned this,
That love is crazy,
Now where would I go from here?
I will die in your arms

Song For Life
I never believed that
I would see the rain fall again
At this moment in time-
I upheld the moon in my hands
On the darkest night of the year-
Today the day is at the spring and
The wind is carrying
Dandelion thistles
Through every moment in time-
I believe I see a cardinal
Perched upon the branch of a
Cherry tree alone-
Singing a song of hope and love-
All I can do is weep only because
I know tomorrow
Rain will come down in a deluge and
My tears will only follow…
I remember the day we met- my true love and I - the rain was
Falling hard and I would
Capture the raindrops in my cupped hands and
Wondering if my tears would fall
In this moment in time-
I would uphold the sun in my hands on
The darkest day of my life-
Never let it loose from my grasp because
I believe that love is tenuous as is
A day with sunshine or
A night when the moon is full-
Cardinal, I say,
Sing me an aria about love that
I shall never forget and
Watch me dance in the rain as my tears fall
Into the pond in the midst of the forest-
Love is none but tenuous and
I have lost my love once more and that is why I weep-
Rainy days are plentiful and so like the loss of amity-
Sing with me and perhaps tomorrow the sun shall rise over the mountains and
My love shall return and rain shall never fall again
And my love will never again abandon me-
Sunlight, moonlight and love-fickle as they may be-
Here we are at the spring and everything is blossoming-
My hope, my life and my tears- never ending-
And my song and my new life has just begun-
In my hand I hold a bouquet of dandelions and as their
Thistles are blown about,
I give my tears away-
I never believed I would see rain fall
Again, in this moment in time-
Of course there is so much I never believed would be true and
As I let the elusive sun from my grasp
Disappear behind mountains of madness-
A rainbow on the horizon,
As beautiful as it may be
Is all the hope that tomorrow may bring-
It is the only hope I have for a future so
I continue my journey and my search for
None but sanity and grace to be bestowed upon me-
Nothing is more tenuous than life-
Not love, not sunshine or moonlight-
So I shall hold on to every element of life-
For without a firm grasp upon life-
Love, light and feelings
Could never exist for a moment in time so
Be thankful to be alive and
Dance in the rain and sing in the darkness and
Be thankful for every moment that
You are alive and never let go-
Not for one moment in time-

Too Many Nights
(nick martinelli/a.brown/b.wayy)
Too many nights
Too many tears
Too many years
Too many nights Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
I thought that I could make it on my own
And the thought of starting over again
Scared me into staying here with you
Long after all the heartache began
Im through with waiting in an empty bed
One for dinner when it should be two
Im tired of holding back what should be said
Im gonna let it go and stand up to you
Hey, too many nights Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
My pride was swallowed one too many times
Ive kept on turning my back on the truth
Now Im as serious as a heart attack
coz Ive decided baby, were through
Im growing stronger from experience
The woman in mes taking a stand
You taught me good, I learned my lesson well
And Im never gonna let it happen again, no
Too many nights Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
Im gonna turn the page
Put heartache in the past
I gotta think about getting strong
And Ill put all those memories on the shelf
And make the space for someone else
(too many nights Ive waited around for you)
Too many nights
(too many nights)
Too many nights
Hey, too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
(Im through)
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
Too many nights Ive waited around for you
Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
I cried, cried, cried
Too many nights
Too many tears
Too many years

Swan Song
Is evolution wiser than we know?
Are we to believe it nothing more
nor less, than threats, in holy or unholy
alliance with blind chance;
survival of the fittest, its whole aim?
And swans, but upside-down giraffes?
Once upon a time… when food became too short
for the short-necked to reach the last top leaves,
the ones with longer necks, survived;
female giraffes, noting this,
sought partners for their progeny among the longer-necked;
and so, nature stretched her expanding world
to – giraffes…
And when the short-necked ducks
ran short of food,
the longer-necked reached down in shallow water..
the females noted this.. and finally... the swan
emerged.. its feathers waterproof,
its bird-feet, larger; claws now webbed…
And thus, we sentimental human beings –
who cannot add such cubits to our stature –
stand and marvel; as those graceful swans
make life seem easy… little do we see
of where their work is done.
Mother Evolution, so it seems,
is liberal with her gifts –
here, an ungainly visual joke;
there, an elegant white curve of beauty.
Hindus name their holy men
as ‘hamsa’, swan: gliding over life;
their work, in inner realms we would not know;
giraffes –camelopards, as they were called
by puzzled Europeans; splay-legged,
with ears that look surprised;
walking periscopes; waiting
for a poet to join them in a question:
does Evolution need now, to evolve?

One Candle Lighting My Whole World
You're the wings of my angel,
You're the breath I do not have,
Cause you took it from me,
You're the light to my dark empty hall,
You're the tears I could not ball,
You brought me to my feet,
When I could only crawl.
You laid your head against my chest,
You and me laid there at a rest,
I couldn't be any less than blest.
I want to hold you in my arms,
Running my hands up and down your body,
Feeling your warm breath against my skin,
The feeling of love that somehow got in,
That warm fuzzy feeling flowing through my veins,
No more worries, no more pains,
Goodbye my baby, 'will I ever see you again',
'Maybe',
Tomorrow will be another day,
But I promise, my feeling for you will never go
Away.
