By the grace of [Autofill]
My knees, my mind, my whole soul aches
and yes a drowsy numbness steals
around my kneecaps – it’s been
a self-assembly afternoon.
I’m not made for self-assembly:
unwrap the components, lay
it on the carpet, they advised;
and then? The postures of
Islamic prayer, cross-legged Hindu,
Christian missionary position, none
seemed to work for more than
a few seconds at a time.
It proved an allegorical point though:
I’m a sorry kit of self-assembly in myself:
impatience, rage, resentment – they
never said it was self-assembly, either…
by now every nation in the world
must be swearing as it sweats
over self-assembly, to its own One God
which however, has a different name
from the One God of others, and it seems,
plays by different rules..
how ironic it must seem to Him, or Her, or It –
a world united in the jihad of self-assembly,
divided in its allegiance to the One God
whose Unique Selling Point, you’d think,
was that of ultimate unity.. even before
we get down to justice, mercy, goodness, all that stuff.
I wonder if in this age of internet-speak
it might aid the unity of nations and
the deity they pray to (yes, He/She/It might like it too?) if
we would offer up our concerted prayers
for simplified but easy-follow instructions
in our human self-assembly kit
to [Autofill].. the God
of a Thousand Names, yet
only one Creation.

The Last Assembly
As I walked to the last assembly,
There were tears in the back of my eyes,
And I saw all my friends all around me,
They were there to wish me goodbye.
As I stood in a line with my comrades,
I felt such a feeling of pride,
And I forgot all the grief and the hatred inside,
As we sang for the very last time.
Gather round, gather round,
Everybody gather round.
Come and join our last assembly,
Let us smile, wipe away all the frowns.
Gather round, gather round,
Everybody gather round.
As we stood at the last assembly,
All my friends came to wish me goodbye.
Gather round, gather round,
Gather round, gather round,
Everybody gather round.
As I stand at the last assembly,
I just cant keep the tears from my eyes.

Frog says….
Frog says….
Bank of the lake,
Assembly of the frogs,
And discussion was going on water pollution.
One frog was saying that
human society was polluting the water of the lake.
In this way human beings are not only damaging them self
Also to them, so we must stop them.
In the last a old and wise frog
advised the assembly
to forgive the human beings
because they are innocent.
He also advised his friends
to use sealed mineral water
as humans are doing.

A Tin Of Sardines
A tin of Sardines.
Mother by an assembly line putting tiny sardines into tins,
a machine did the rest, a squirt of oil and a lid stamped on.
Sardines side by side, in total darkness, wait to be eaten.
But first of all the sardines had to be smoked, the smoker
my mother’s lover, he visited her every Sunday afternoon,
and I was sent out to find a place that sold ice cream, even
when it rained. Rusting sardine cans, littering the wayside,
don’t walk barefoot in the grass at summer time. Mother
by an assembly line, putting sardines into tins, the smoker
had another girlfriend now and I got no Sunday ice cream.

Hymn
There in that perfect vale
all will be shown
north, south, west
in vast Eden drowned.
Beauty obscured by beauty
truth from truth revealed
seamless unity
reverse the present world
Run, roustabout nation,
run to that assembly
where the God eternally gathers us
fast about his nucleus.

Infatuation
There is infatuation in cat's mew
It is there in 'cock crowing its own dung hill'
It could be in the whole assembly of people
There There is infatuation in cat's mew
It is there in 'cock crowing its own dung hill'
It could be in the whole assembly of people
There is no place in fact for it to remain stand and still
The commotion of events and the burst of imagination
Did not confine itself into 'archer' of its fashion
If we take its linchpin from the womb of mother
You will not find its glory a bit farther
Its there from nascent of progenitors and race thereafter
Bowing in liturgy and forming into art and passion
That's what we call homo-sapien's passion
Which can go 'acclivity' into newness of fashion

Surprise in Malaysia - A State Assembly under a Tree
a State Assembly
held under a raintree
this awakening that the seed
of democracy was sown
in the streets of Athens
The Perak State Assembly Speaker V Sivakumar (member of Pakatan Rakyat) yesterday (March 3,2009) held an emergency State Assembly under a tree in Ipoh, the State capital of Perak. They were disallowed into the State Assembly Hall. Perak was well known for its tin trade in the 19th and 20th century.
Pakatan Rakyat lost its governing mandate last month when three of its members defected to the State Barisan Nasional (BN) . The State Speaker however said the three had earlier resigned from the Party and therefore their constituencies. The BN therefore cannot form the new State Government. Pakatan Rakyat wants a fresh election to be held to determine the new government for the people of Perak.
The following by Clive S Kessler is Emeritus Professor of Sociology and Anthropology
DATUK Seri Azalina Othman Said has characterised the attempt of the Speaker to convene an emergency sitting of the Perak state assembly as 'uncivilised' and as recourse to the 'law of the jungle'.
Never in the country's history, she avers, has a state assembly sitting been convened under a tree. Perhaps she is right. But some further historical perspective is needed.
In 1789, when the King of France sought to forbid the so-called 'Third Estate' or representatives of the people from meeting to discuss urgent national business, they convened on a Paris tennis court.
This too was, at the time, unprecedented and surprising.
They passed their 'Tennis Court Oath' that they would not disperse, adjourn or relent until their right to convene and discuss important public matters as the people's legitimate representatives was acknowledged.
That, too, was presumably seen as an 'insult' to the ruler, King Louis XVI.
It was also the beginning, for better or worse, of the French Revolution and of the entire drama of modern representative democracy and popular sovereignty. Those who seek to invoke history should know history. It may often prove a double-edged sword.
