A conversation; or, dialectic
They walk down the passage,
enter the room,
as if called to some formal gathering
of honour to be bestowed;
humility and dignity together
make them beautiful; watchers
see this, feel this too.
Seated, they glance into each other’s eyes;
they barely know each other, yet
glance with the level, cool respect
of equality; and of precise love:
a love of what they treasure in themself
offered to another who is not other.
And they begin to talk about some mighty topic:
listen intently to the other; then
at the finish of each offering,
a pause as if the angels listen:
you can hear humility, dignity
in that sacred pause; and then
the other offers speech;
their eyes shine; the honour of this event
warms their blood almost to tears of truth.
The air around them turns to ether;
as if their very talk has purified the space;
the space where, as they talk,
it seems as though there’s one who listens..
They are explorers in an unknown land,
a new world where they listen to
their own speech as a new thing explained,
yet spoken as if always known;
nor is the air around them, private:
they could be that couple over there
in the tea-shop’s gentle buzz,
so elevated, that at other tables,
teacup poised, politely covert glance
brings all the teashop’s visitors
into that place where love and knowledge meet.
The conversation reaches its appointed end,
which both recognise; some sublime honour
has been bestowed; and from within themselves;
rapt and yet surrendering,
they walk away through crowded streets, the air
around them, should you notice, breathes
humility and dignity. As if, accosted by any stranger,
they would continue that same conversation
on mountain, woodland, beach, or busy street;
in that place where love and knowledge meet.

Talk To Me
When I see you, girl you turn my head, you make me dizzy
I get a good vibration
When I look into your big blue eyes, I start to quiver and shake
I get a strange sensation
When you walk by me you strut around, you make me crazy, I get no relaxation
Talk to me, talk to me, all I want is a little conversation
Talk to me, talk to me, all I want is a little conversation, talk to me
People tell me that you run around and that youre no good
You got a bad reputation
I dont care what all the people say, you know they talk too much
Its a fascination
All I wanna do is talk to you and maybe go out, and form some kind of relation
So talk to me, talk to me, all I want is a little conversation
Talk to me, talk to me, all I want is a little conversation
Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me - why dont you
Talk to me - cmon and talk to me
I just wanna talk to you
Girl I wish you knew the way I felt, you think Im silly, that its infatuation
So we better get together soon, because I need you girl
I cant stand the frustration, so
Talk to me, talk to me, all I want is a little conversation
Talk to me, talk to me, all I want is a little conversation
Talk to me, talk to me, all I want is a little conversation
Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me, talk to me - why dont you
Talk to me - cmon and talk to me
Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me - I just wanna talk to you

Talk Soup
I dated siamese twins
I slept with bigfoot, too
Get me on sally jesse
Put me on donahue
cause I wanna tell the world about it
Right now
My dogs a narcoleptic
My moms a circus freak
I gotta get a spot on
Geraldos show this week
cause I wanna tell the world about it
Right now
Im just an anorexic codependant bingo addict
Stripper born without a chin
And Im only comfortable talking about it
When the whole wide world is listening in
Talk soup... talk soup
Listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me
My wife ran off with elvis
My boss shaved off my hair
Ive got a thing for poodles
And rubber underwear
And I wanna tell the world about it
Right now
I had a close encounter
I never chew my food
I got eleven nose jobs
I yodel in the nude
And I wanna tell the world about it
Right now
Im just a cross-dressin alcoholic neo-nazi
Porno star, as you may have guessed
And Im really gonna feel a whole lot better
If you let me get this thing off my chest
Talk soup... talk soup
Listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me
Im just your average schizophrenic nymphomaniac
Albino go-go dancer, you see
Nothin so bad that I cant share it
With a billion friends on national tv, whoa...
I have no genitalia
I sold my kids for cheese
I love my blow up doll, so
Bring out those cameras, please
cause I wanna tell the world about it
Right now
Talk soup... talk soup
Listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me
Talk soup... talk soup
Listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me
Talk soup... talk soup
Listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me, (listen to me) listen to me
Talk soup... talk soup

Dignity
Dignity is what we want,
As human beings on this earth;
Dignity is what we can’t,
Give up anyway since birth.
Dignity is innate right,
God has bestowed man, He made;
Dignity is cause to fight
When employees get under-paid.
Dignity, all need always
At home, at school and one’s work-place;
Dignity for human race,
Men must guarantee all days.
Dignity in livelihood,
Receive should all citizens;
Dignity in dying too,
World must assure everyone.
Dignity is what we need
In life on earth and when we die;
Dignity is good indeed
For creatures born under the sky.
Dignity for man and beast
Is a must for all, west / east;
Dignity for anyone
Shouldn’t be denied, any time!

Let's Talk About Love!
Let's talk about love! Let's give hate the shove!
Let's celebrate all that love is!
Reflect on the joy for each girl and boy
Enmeshed in the thrill of a kiss!
Love glides round in style! Love guides with a smile!
Love looks up with hope in its eyes!
Reflect on the prayers of sweethearts in pairs
And listen to all of their sighs!
Let's talk about love! Let's think of the dove!
Let's cherish the heart's great reward!
Reflect on the peace that starts to increase
Whenever true love is outpoured!
Let's learn a love song! Let's sing it out strong!
Let's pass on Good News every day!
Reflect on God's grace! God's kindness embrace!
Determined to share love some way!
Let's visit Loveland! Let's walk hand-in-hand!
Let's honour the blessings we've known!
Reflect on this truth: Love's never aloof!
For true love cannot walk alone...

Love An Ideal
Love is not romantic feeling, love is an ideal,
a dream - unhappy relations are based on
dependency, happy relations on self-
esteem, respect and dignity
You base your happiness on work and sacrifice
ignoring your need for freedom and joy, such
self-sacrifice without appreciation makes you
feel alone and confused, does not teach
How to develop an attitude that commands
respect - love as noble aspiration and ideal,
joy and integrity has to be learned, love
does not derive from what we look upon
Love is a perspective, an ability to project
beautiful aspects on things - service does
not beget love and harmony; I cannot
accept the same emotional abuse
You are used to; I offer you my sisterly love
as affection, not exploitation - will spoil you
as a beloved sister, NOT as dependent or
helper, I love you because you are worthy
I honour your dignity and abhor it when
others don’t honour you also; I love you
within the perspective of a wonderful
sister just as you are…

A Search For Humility
Humility is a place where men of
all color and religion can meet in
the spirit of peace and love.
Humility is a place where brother embraces
brother where the common bond, is the
common goal.
Is there any such place as humility? Yes.
However, one has to first find it within
themselves, least they not recognize it,
when they come upon it.
Lets Go!
(wang chung)
Meet me in a restaurant
Meet me on the top of the world
Meet me and well talk the language of love
Ill meet you anywhere you want
Ill meet you on a ballroom floor
Meet me and well float to a level above
Chorus:
I wish youd stop what youre doing
And get on the case
We could blow this existence
Right out into space
And share a sweet isolation
Lets go there today
Go today, go today
Everyway, right away
Oh, lets go
Lets go, baby, lets go, baby, come on
Lets go, baby, lets go, baby, come on
Lets go, baby, lets go, baby, come on
Lets go, cause we cant hold back no more
Theres no way, theres no way
No, no way
Meet you on a mountain-top
Ill meet you at the end of the block
As long as we can talk in the language of love
Ill take you in my arms again
Ill take you to the edge of time
Together we can reach for the heavens above
Repeat chorus
Lets go, baby, lets go, baby, come on
cause baby, I want your love
Lets go, baby, lets go, baby, come on
cause baby, Im saying
Take your cue from me now
Im saying baby, lets go
Will you listen to me
Im saying baby, come on now
Lets go cause we cant hold back no more
Theres no way
Meet me on the dancefloor and well dance to the rhythm
Get your feet in motion and well dance to the rhythm
Dance to the rhythm
Dance to the rhythm of love
Oh, baby
Lets go, baby, lets go, baby, come on
cause baby, I want your love
Lets go, baby, lets go, baby, come on
cause baby, Im saying
Take your cue from me now
Im saying baby, lets go
Will you listen to me
Im saying baby, come on now
Lets go, cause we cant hold back no
Lets go, cause we cant hold back no
Lets go, cause we cant hold back no more
Theres no way

Just As You Are (Rev.)

A Wonderful Woman
A good talk is so up lifting
Taking one away from drifting
No thinking of if-ing
Just a good talk
One that make you want to walk
But not stalk...
One that take you back in years
Remembering your young tears and fears.
The laughter of childhood...
Damn! a good talk is so good.
Filling your heart with warmth
Putting dreams out of place...
Adding to your world lace...
And not haste.
A good talk and the world stands still...
What a thrill...
taking away ones ills...
Forgetting about ones pills...
Damn! what a good talk will do for you.
Opening up things within...
That you re-live again...
That good talk is with a woman.
A woman you enjoy...
A good talk taking from toy of being a boy.
The things a good woman is capable of...
Without making love.
So I thank the good LORD above...
For speech...
And what a good woman can teach.
All in a good talk...
A conversation without a face...
But on the over side woman.
A woman with grace.

To Mrs. Throckmorton, On Her Beautiful Transcript Of Horace's Ode Ad Librum Suum
Maria, could Horace have guessed
What honour awaited his ode
To his little volume addressed,
The honour which you have bestowed,--
Who have traced it in characters here,
So elegant, even, and neat,
He had laughed at the critical sneer
Which he seems to have trembled to meet.
And sneer, if you please, he had said,
A nymph shall hereafter arise
Who shall give me, when you are all dead,
The glory your malice denies;
Shall dignity give to my lay,
Although but a mere bagatelle;
And even a poet shall say,
Nothing ever was written so well.

Believe In The Supernatural
(graham russell)
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Im going back just a few years
All people used to seem tall
When everyday would be voices calling
Id take no notice at all
Id take no notice at all
Then when I asked if youd held conversation
I was the talk of the town
Until the voice let me see in the future
They didnt look so way down
I have to make them listen
Or they may never come back
I have to make them listen now
(chorus)
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
Believe in the supernatural
And so I heard and I saw something happening
They were just like you and me
But they were wiser and all had the messages
We really had to believe
We really had to believe
They showed me how the world keeps on turning
Its not as hard as it seems
So many secrets you wouldnt believe it
They manufacture our dreams
I have to make you listen
Or they may never come back
I have to make you listen now
(chorus)
I was afraid of things that I cant see
I cant see love but I like it a lot
I used to take a life in the back seat
Until the front row began to move off
There must be more to sleep than waking
I was so sure there was something waiting there
(chorus)
Im going back just a few years
All people used to seem tall
When everyday would be voices calling
Id take no notice at all
Id take no notice at all
Then when I asked if youd held conversation
I was the talk of the town
Until the voice let me see in the future
They didnt look so way down
I have to make you listen
Or they may never come back
I have to make you listen now

The Last Shower
The radio, first chattering companion of the day,
timed its cold shower of the mind with lethal precision
reminding as I stepped into the warmth of water
of those who stepped into the ‘shower’
and never stepped out
those many past numbering
but each one a one
and a gentle Scots Quaker voice
conducting this Holocaust Day memorial
to the indescribable
spoke the phrase
‘the dignity of difference’
offering the heart some way to walk
the path of grief with human hope
the dignity of difference –
an empty form of words
like poetry,
like grief,
poised between nothing and everything
waiting to be filled
with tears and joy
with love and sorrow
with memory and hope
with prayer and promise
with mercy and resolve
with humility and lawfulness
with life and the memory of death
with the memory of death, and life

0400 The Family
Seen from the back as
they walk along the dusty summer road, with
the sheep straying onto the verges where
a tuft of more succulent grass may linger
in the earlier shadow of
the noontime sun, under the low stone wall,
it’s difficult to see whether
the couple walking with the
gentle pace of conversation, are
son and father, or his grandfather; the man
seems older than the young fathers
around here. But from the front, when
you see their eyes, there’s no mistake –
they’re father (or stepfather?) and son all right, talking
with such attention, such respect
for one another.
They walk into the village, silently greeted, greeting,
with the gentle nodded glance of villagers
about their various tasks; and open up
the wooden door of the cool and tidy carpenters’
workshop open to the sunny air, where
a young mother gazes at the boy with
all the love in the world. It’s
in His eyes too.

Pride Cometh Before the Fall
Humility was discussing Pride with Heart:
Heart had decided Pride was a great asset.
Discretion chimed in with a hearty disagreement,
“You roll in the pit with this swine! ”
Humility was being denied his rightful place.
Prudence, the brother of Discretion,
Had been outlawed throughout the land
As soon as Pride convinced Heart
That it was he who should take Prudence’s place.
Mistrust had been bound and gagged while he attempted to speak his piece
But Ignorance was allowed to stay.
Knowledge and Experience tried to warn Heart
But he could not see as Pride blocked his view,
Keeping Heart’s attention for his plan.
Now there was only one thing left to do.
Superstition was led to the far reaches of the dwelling
All the while crying out the time old saying,
“Pride cometh before the fall, ” but no one could hear it.
“Ah, ” Pride sighed with relief, “peace and quiet at last! ”
Unbeknownst, there was a rebellious force rising
To defeat that pig called Pride.
He was being a hog with Heart.
A plan was laid and put into play.
There was a knock on Heart’s door and Pride,
Thinking he’d rid this dwelling of rebels,
Gladly offered the guest to enter.
Only, his friend Ignorance was not at this door, no,
Love entered. Pride sprang to his feet,
“You? ! ? What are you doing here? ! ? ”
“I would like a meeting with Heart, if you’d be so kind.”
Heart, having just spoken with Sincere and Individual,
Decided for himself to let Love have his desired appointment.
Heart had a long stay with Love and
With much dismay, Pride knew he had been beaten.
For as the saying goes, “Love conquers all! ”
And now we know: Pride surely cometh before the fall...
Just no one ever mentioned it was the fall into Love.

Listen to each drop of rain (listen listen)

Whispering secrets in rain (listen listen)

Frantically searching for someone to hear
That story be more than it hides
Please don't let go
Can't we stay for a while?
It's just to hard to say goodbye
Listen to the rain
Aa...ah
Listen listen listen listen listen listen to the rain
Weeping
Oo...ooh oooh ooh oo...ooh
Oo...ooh oooh oh oh
Listen (listen) listen (listen)
Listen (listen) listen
I stand alone in the storm (listen listen)
Suddenly sweet words take hold
(Listen listen)
Hurry they stay for you haven't much time
Open your eyes to the love around you
You can feel youre alone
But I'm here still with you
You can do what you dream
Just remember to listen to the rain

A Sweet Song Of Love
Listen to this sweet song of love,
a different love song of our strife.
The victory of truth in life,
listen to this sweet song of love....
Walking together in our dreams where have we reached,
just look how blue is the sky here.
Our song is even sung by the birds here,
where ever our eyes can see is pure light spread.
Listen to this sweet song of love,
a different love song of our strife.
The victory of truth in life,
listen to this sweet song of love....
Cool cool breezes blow here always,
beyond the stars is our little cottage.
The rainbow colours are here to manage,
they where they commence their journeyof joys.
Listen to this sweet song of love,
a different love song of our strife.
The victory of truth in life,
listen to this sweet song of love....
Forbidden to meet each other in this world,
encircled within our customs were we both.
imprisoned and guarded were we both,
we died in breaking away from the customs of this world.
Listen to this sweet song of love,
a different love song of our strife.
The victory of truth in life,
listen to this sweet song of love....

Walk Dont Walk
Walk on their side of the street?
Dont walk where it feels the best?
Walk away from people u meet?
Dont talk 2 strangers
Unless they walk the way u want them 2?
Dont walk unless the others do?
I said walk, like u could use a ride?
Dont walk with a confident stride
Then people will walk over u
Dont talk until they tell u 2?
Dont talk if its against the rules?
Just walk away and be a fool?
Thats what they wantcha 2 do
Yeah, thats what they want u 2 do
Sha-la-la-la-la
Sha-la-la-la-la
Sha-la-la-la-la
Sha-la-la-la-la
Dont talk if its against the rules?
Just walk away and be a fool?
Thats what they wantcha 2 do
So u got 2 walk like u wanna make it!
Dont walk like u just cant take it
Go on and walk on any side you like!
Dont walk wherever they tell u 2 - psyche!
The sun will shine upon u one day
If ure always walkin your way
The sun will shine upon u one day
If ure always walkin your way
Sha-la-la-la-la
Sha-la-la-la-la
Sha-la-la-la-la
Sha-la-la-la-la
(tellin me now, just walkin)
Said Im walkin on your side of the street (tellin me now, just walkin)
Im talkin 2 the people I meet (tellin me now, just walkin)
Alright

Dont Talk
[ dennis drew/natalie merchant ]
Dont talk, I will listen.
Dont talk, you keep your distance
For Id rather hear some truth tonight than entertain your lies,
So take you poison silently.
Let me be. let me close my eyes.
Dont talk, Ill believe it.
Dont talk, listen to me instead,
I know that if you think of it, both long enough and hard
The drink you drown your troubles in is the trouble youre in now.
Talk talk talk about it, if you talk as if you care
But when your talk is over tilt that bottle in the air,
Tossing back more than your share.
Dont talk, I can guess it.
Dont talk, well now your restless
And you need somewhere to put the blame for how you feel inside.
Youll look for a close and easy mark and youll see me as fair game.
Talk talk talk about it, talk as if you care
But when your talk is over tilt that bottle in the air
Tossing back more than your share.
You talk talk talk about it, you talk as if you care.
Im marking every word and can tell this time for sure,
Your talk is the finest I have heard.
So dont talk, let me go on dreaming.
How your eyes they glow so fiercely I can tell your inspired
By the name you chose for me. now what was it? o, never mind it.
We will talk talk talk about this when your head is clear.
Ill discuss this in the morning, but until then you may talk but I wont hear.

In The Deep Sea
Your law is the truth,
Your love is the way,
Your romance is the taste to share,
Of the aches and pains in these bodies;
Please, do not murder;
Since all the holidays are for the pagan gods.
Of the great stone of Abel,
If you will listen diligently about life;
Like the numerous congregations at the shore.
Evening, midnight, cockrow, or of the early morning;
The elevated strong hold of the shore is around you.
Quinctilis was the fifth month,
In honour of julius Ceasar!
The fifth monmth then became July and,
This is what Satan want to see.
Of the sweet taste of love,
She rebelled against him;
Like the harp and the lyre in the deep sea of love,
Wake up to these facts and learn more.
At the waters of Meribah,
To scatter then throughtout the land;
Sextilis was the sixth month.
Of a message to the stormy wind,
Like the deliverance in Yahrusalom;
Later, Sextilis became August in honour of Augustus Ceasar.
September was the seventh month,
Like the stick that divided the red sea;
They built,
They grew,
They multiplied;
So teach me so that i may see.
Of wisdom by the birds of the air,
To walk like a snail;
Of the perfect atmosphere,
To think like an ant;
Eyes and ears of the world,
Listen to me when i do write.

Sonnet 3
what substance have valour and honour
when the serene sadness of humility,
a buddha face of wisdom and power
aglow in warmth and dignity,
the mental characteristics of a saint,
challenge us in terms of heaven?
what wisdom attends a childless state
when she is justified by her children?
as Beatrice knew lover and quick to him
in rapture flew, love's issue far more
unveils (heaven not open to eyes of man) ,
and sets love firm on paradise's shore.
like lotus petals love's plumes
earthly sense in life's tree consumes.
