A Business Trip. Sonnet for Epiphany.

Their wives were not too keen about it all:
beyond the call of duty, so it seemed;
for if they read the heavens’ portents so well,
what need of proof; of presence at the scene?

And then, to go without due retinue
through unforgiving deserts, foreign towns,
and forests hiding thieves - and wild beasts too?
And carrying rich gifts? And worse – their crowns!

And so, to risk three kingdoms, not just one?
And this, for sake of some religious creed
not even theirs? … ‘Nay, love – it must be done:
we crown our lives, and kingdoms, with this deed;

these crowns are symbols of our rule on earth
to yield the King of Heaven at His Birth..’

Dynasty hardly dies

Some are thrust with crowns.
They manage to stay afloat.
Some have wrested their crowns
By virtue of their sheer talents.
The first category is rampant
As marketing is the rule.
Be it in stardom, in profession,
Or in politics or in sports,
Crowns are thrust or reserved.

Kingdoms were dissolved
But not the dynasty.

Crown Him With Many Crowns

Musical adaptation: michael w. smith
Crown him with many crowns,
The lamb upon the throne:
Hark! how the heavnly anthem drowns
All music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of him who died for thee,
And hail him as thy matchless king
Thru all eternity.
Crown him with many crowns
Crown him with many crowns
Crown him the lord of heavn:
One with the father known.
One with the spirit thru him givn
From yonder glorious throne.
To thee be endless praise.
For thou hast died for me;
Be thou, o lord, thru endless days
Adored and magnified
Adored and magnified
Crown him with many crowns
His glories now we sing,
Who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring
And...lives that death may die.
Crown him with many crowns

Licia Sonnets 12

I wish sometimes, although a worthless thing,
Spurred by ambition, glad to aspire,
Myself a monarch, or some mighty king,
And then my thoughts do wish for to be higher.
But when I view what winds the cedars toss.
What storms men feels that covet for renown,
I blame myself that I have wished my loss,
And scorn a kingdom, though it give a crown.
Ah Licia, though the wonder of my thought,
My heart's content, procurer of my bliss,
For whom a crown I do esteem as naught,
As Asia's wealth, too mean to buy a kiss!
Kiss me, sweet love, this favor do for me;
Then crowns and kingdoms shall I scorn for thee.

in shock terror mortal fear for their threatened lives
followers fearing flogging crucifixion a criminal death

Biggest Bigamist

To dream the impossible dream,
Keep your distance, if you know what I mean,
To have multiple Queens wearing multiple crowns,
Your multiple wives need multiple towns.

I love my wives, they love me too,
But they don't know some things that I do,
I have a sweet tooth, I think women are wine,
So to get my sugar, I'm the marrying kind.

I got a wife in Alabama, her father's a baker,
I got one in Ohio, she don't know I'm a faker,
I got one in Hawaii, we have a family of three,
She has no clue what's going on with me.

I got one in Minnesota, we live on a lake,
I got one in Nevada, who don't know I'm a fake,
I got one in Utah, we both love to ski,
She reminds me of my wife in Mississippi.

It gets a little dicey on major holidays,
I have to lie a lot and make a few plays,
I tell 'em, 'I got business that takes me out of town,
But when I get back, I'll make it up somehow.'

I have wives of every race, every color and creed,
In their totality, they give me what I need,
I got a wife in Oklahoma, she loves to ride the range,
I'm having so much fun, I don't think I'll ever change.

For Heavens Sake

For heavens sake
D.meyer/bretton/s.edwards
For heavenssake lets fall in love
Its no mistake to call it love
An angels holding hands with me
How heavenly heaven can be
Here is romance for us to try
Here is a chance we cant deny
While heavens giving us a break
Lets fall in love for heavens sake
Dont say a word my darling
Dont break the spell like this
Just hold me tight; were alone in the night
And heaven is here with a kiss
This pair of eyes can see a star
So paradise cant be so far
Since heavens what were dreaming of
For heavens sake, lets fall in love

The Beatific Vision

OH God! if I do my duty
And walk in the thorny way,
Will you pay me with heavens of beauty,
Millions of lives away?
Will you give me the music of heaven,
And the joy that none understands,
In place of what life would have given
If I had held out my hands?

I have lived in a narrow prison,
I have writhed 'neath a bitter creed,
And I dare to say that no heaven can pay
The renounced dream and deed,
But when my life's portal closes,
If you have no heaven to spare
God! give me a garden of roses,
And some one to walk with there.

Never Ending Story (live Acoustic Version)

Armies have conquered
And fallen in the end
Kingdoms have risen
Then buried by sand
The Earth is our mother
She gives and she takes
She puts us to sleep and
In her light we'll awake
We'll all be forgotten
There's no endless fame
But everything we do
Is never in vain
We're part of a story, part of a tale
We're all on this journey
No one is to stay
Where ever it's going
What is the way?
Forests and deserts
Rivers, blue seas
Mountains and valleys
Nothing here stays
While we think we witness
We are part of the scene
This never-ending story
Where will it lead to?
The earth is our mother
She gives and she takes
But she is also a part
A part of the tale
We're part of a story, part of a tale
We're all on this journey
No one is to stay
Where ever it's going
What is the way?
We're part of a story, part of a tale
Sometimes beautiful and sometimes insane
No one remembers how it began

Never waver from your path
You think you got a way with somethin boy
Well see his hand an feel his staff
Hey you got a way with words alright yeah
An quite a way with the ladies
Your thoughts are troubled
As you hang a left
No there aint no maybes
Come an sing me down
Give my conscience a poundin
Come an shake my ground lord
With the sound of heavens houndin
Youre thinkin when this is all over
Well all sit back an laugh
Well I dont think so friend cause
I done the math
And I aint lookin to gain any honor
No, no not among you thieves
Ill be right beside you though
In judgement on my knees
Come an sing me down
Give my conscience a poundin
Come an shake my ground lord
With the sound of heavens houndin
Now here you come a draggin
Jus couldnt help yourself
Puttin on your poor mouth an
Takin from his wealth
O you come up proper
You ride a faithless steed
Took you down the wrong road
Ye in word an in deed
Come an sing us down
Give our conscience a poundin
Come an shake our ground lord
With the sound of heavens houndin
Come an take our crowns lord
Give our conscience a poundin
Come an take our crown lord
With the sound of heavens houndin

Hymn 65

The kingdoms of the world become the kingdoms of our Lord; or, The day of judgment.

Rev. 11:15-18.

Let the seventh angel sound on high,
Let shouts be heard through all the sky;
Kings of the earth, with glad accord,
Give up your kingdoms to the Lord.

Almighty God, thy power assume,
Who wast, and art, and art to come:
Jesus, the Lamb who once was slain,
For ever live, for ever reign!

The angry nations fret and roar,
That they can slay the saints no more
On wings of vengeance flies our God,
To pay the long arrears of blood.

Now must the rising dead appear;
Now the decisive sentence hear;
Now the dear martyrs of the Lord
Receive an infinite reward.

A Cuckoo Song

Crowns are for kings to wear, sad crowns of gold
Over tired heads that ache, world--cares untold.
Not on thy happy brows, sweet bird of summer,
Set we such crowns to--day, thou Spring's new--comer.
Take from us, rather, thou these our wild posies.
April's and May's we bring, June's with its roses.
Nay and love's Cuckoo flowers, O child of glory!
Cuckoos thine own birds are; these be thy dowry.
Eve of our heart's shut field, need is we grieve thee,
Gone to a world more sweet where we must leave thee.
Russet--clad nightingales, tired of our chaunting,
Out in the dark we weep, our Queen--bird wanting.
Such is the fate of birds. Soon as the Spring comes
Vagrant they flit and fly. Lo! 'tis their King comes.
Endeth our night plaint only when, through the wild wood,
New born the day trips in, laughs as a child would.
O, then we too will laugh, join in the gay chime,
Run to thy marriage bells, birds of the day--time.

Love Sonnet 31 Red rose for my love, the best heaven owns,

Red rose for my love, the best heaven owns,
The fairest Earth could bloom beneath the skies,
As tucked upon her hair instead of crowns,
Bestows well what the lack of crowns denies;
That wisp of cloudiness above her head,
Heralds the sudden souring of the day,
Yet, does not damp the warmth her smiles have spread,
Though crickets chirp thinking that night would lay;
Her sighs could drown this soft cacophony,
As ear discerns better the whispered word,
Within my heart she plays a symphony,
And those who love must have known every chord;
….My love, timely toast of the morning dew,
….Quite enough reason why red roses grew.

The Man In Love With You

If you've think I've second guessed it
Or for one minute I've regretted this life with you
No there's never been a moment
not one time I haven't noted
What I have with you
You hold my heart
Deep inside of
every single part
~Chorus~
If I could be anything I wished that I could be
Ohh baby
If I could rule over kingdoms
and maybe even sail the seven seas Ohh oohh
If I could do all the things
that I only dreamed that I could do
I'd still be the Man in love with you
I try everydayd to show it
Just to make sure that you know it
I'm here to stay
And you'll never have a reason
To ever think I'm leaving there just no way
Its no mystery
How i Feel
Baby can't you see
~Chorus~
If I could be anything I wished that I could be
Ohh baby
If I could rule over kingdoms
and maybe even sail the seven seas Ohh oohh
If I could do all the things
that I only dreamed that I could do
I'd still be the Man in love with you
*Bridge*
I can't go crazy
I always see traces
of the only thing in life I'll ever need
if I could do all the things
that I only dreamed that I could do
I'd still be the man in love with you
I'd still be the man in love with you

The trouble with kingdoms of heaven on earth is that they're liable to come to pass, and then their fraudulence is apparent for all to see. We need a kingdom of heaven in Heaven, if only because it can't be realized.

Psalm 148

Let the heavens cry out
Let the earth give a shout
Let all the Peoples of the earth not doubt
Our glorious King forever

Let the heavenly angels praise
To our King may every hand raise
May we worship Him all of our days
Our glorious King forever

Praise Him you sun so bright
Praise Him you moon through the night
All of His enemies take flight
From our glorious King forever

Praise Him you creatures of the sea
Praise Him that you swim so free
May our praises eternally be
Of our glorious King forever

Mountains and hills fall down
Stars in the sky make a glorious sound
All ye saints cast down your crowns
Before our glorious King forever

We will praise Him for His marvelous grace
We praise Him for His warm embrace
We praise Him in the holy place
Our glorious King forever

We exalt the King of Kings
Heavenly choirs of angels sings
Of the freedom that our Christ brings
Our glorious King forever

All our praise He does deserve
Let His glory cover all the earth
We shall bow down and worship and serve
Our glorious King forever
