Night frost
Night frost
~
I watch through the window
The night frost roll out
Encasing the world slowly
Plants wither away
Gardens turn white
Parked cars sink beneath
The white tapestry of winter
A beautiful savagery
Emerges before my eyes
The night frost is unforgiving
Yet captivates me
I watch through a window
In sleepless fascination
The beauty of a world
In transformation

The Killing Frost
There is an enchantment in the Killing Frost
It's the most magical night of the year
When the abundant blooms of Summer
Are put to sleep by Frost's frozen tears.
The Killing Frost arrives here silently
Flying in ahead of Winter's incoming wrath
Covering all things that are of the earth
Putting to sleep all flora in her path.
As the late Autumn sun sinks below the horizon
On this Special Night of the year
Plants which were all alive this past morn will be no more
It's time to make way for Winter's Cheer.
Everything Frost kisses will be put to eternal repose
Adorned by Frost's magical breath during the night
All will be dripping in Diamonds in the Morn
With which to dazzle by soft Morning's light.
Winter will be arriving shortly now
And Frost will take her leave
To make way for fluttering snowflakes
Which will come to dance during the long Winter's Eve.

Winter Frost
winter frost forms on the window
a window that looks out at the soal
this winter comes with no mercy
the winter that calls itself a friend
it graps and holds its prey dear
starting to extract all of it's warmth
then suddenly it lets go
throwing it's prey out the door
leaving the prey to look through the window
only to find winter frost apon it's soul

Frosted Glass
Frost flowers on my windowpane.
Jack Frost has visited again.
I always know when he's been here.
Because pretty patterns appear
As if by magic overnight.
A tracery of sparkling white.
A sight that sure to satisfy.
The most discerning artist's eye.
It's beautiful though transient.
Frost paintings can't be permanent.
It will last for an hour or two.
Before it melts as it's sure to.
Frost flowers bloom beneath the moon.
‘til morning comes alas too soon.

November
November month of fog and mists.
The early mornings have a bite
the silver grass by Jack Frost kissed
in the dark hours of the night.
The sun reluctant slow to rise
His winter rays no longer warm
that frost persists is no surprise.
This is the calm before the storm.
Winter advances openly
no power can withstand its might
What has to be will come to be
A winter world of black and white.
Though advent justifies a feast
the winter cares not in the least.

Frost
Frost covers fallen bridges,
As it does the ones that stand.
The whiteness settles overywhere.
It's gone when I touch your hand.
The morning is when we see the frost,
Yet we know it came the night before.
I've been awake, still it has come;
Quiet and cold to our locked door.
We have watched frost go.
Have you ever seen it start,
As it wanders up the gulch
And slinks into our hearts?
Then there's always morninig,
Or you suppose ther'll always be.
The sun the frost is melting
As we go on, you and me.
We need to talk more when it's forming,
Not just be glad when it's gone,
For, unlike flowers, we seen to wither,
Warmed only by the dawn.

Seaside At Winter
It's amazing to watch the frost's work.
It made the sea side a fairy tale.
The frost's quirk made the sea not for a sail.
The silence is all around.
For a while the time stands still.
The seagulls can't swill.
Like in the realm of Antarctica
Throughout the frost, snow and ice
I see the beauty of a paradise.
But! In the next few moments
The spring will come spelling the frost.
The nature's fulfillment will be the most.

Frost
Upon waking, I pad softly over to my window,
And look out, at the wintry world, down below.
Many of the things which are within my sight,
Are covered with a thin coating of pure white.
I hear car engines running, and ice being scrapped away,
As neighbours nearby, prepare for another working day.
Through the gap, between the houses, stood nearby,
I see a bright patch of beautiful, peach coloured sky.
With icing sugar, the world appears to have been sprinkled.
In the morning sunlight, millions of minute crystals twinkle.
With dazzling diamonds, pavements seem to have been encrusted;
But, my, once sure, footing upon them, can no longer be trusted.
As I walk along the pavement, my feet slide and slip;
It is much more difficult now, to get a really good grip.
My pace, this morning, is much slower than my norm;
I tread much more warily, on this crisp, cold, frosty morn.
Only the very hardiest of plants, will survive and linger,
As, across the land, wicked Jack Frost, points his finger.
Fine, feathery patterns, now decorate the window panes;
But, as beautiful as they are, sadly, they will not remain.
Where the sunlight shines, the frost crystals disappear first,
But, where the shadows fall, crystals take longer to disperse.
Slowly, but surely, the frost melts, as the day wears steadily on,
And, by midday, the last of the glistening crystals, will be gone.

Moonlight & Frost
I breathe upon
the window pane
leaving a kiss
that frosts
over.
You do the same.
I kiss your kiss
of frost.
You kiss
mine.
We leave
kisses all over the window
The frost now
reclaiming them
taking them back
into the night
as the humans
(being only human)
continue on
in their dreams.

Windows
Frost circles, on a glass.
I watched.
Hour upon hour.
Through a day's loneliness.
Insignificant seeds.
Sat by the window.
Traced its essence.
Into the air.
As mist disappeared.
A vapor of breath.
Onto nothingness.
Has translated.
Thinking of life.
I blew my heat.
Onto the glass.
Time and again.
Drew your name.
Into its frost.
Some pictures.
To vanish.
With the next breath.
Float into the sullen air.
There, I picture your face.
Those haunting eyes.
Saw within them.
Your face.
A reflection.
Of my own.
Candle flickers...
Dancing light.
Reflecting across the wall.
Frozen windows.
Playing, on its icy roses.
Side-to-side.
Around it goes.
Until dizzy from tossing.
Turning again I shall go.
Wonder, what evil thus.
Would keep me awake?
Conscious, through the night.
Prevent my escape.
From still and frost.
To the dreamland, I hope.
Within the window, I peer.
See my eyes, through thine.
Into the window, I stare.
Both souls thus bare.

In Winter's Arms
Winter holds me with his arms of icy white,
and kissed my breath with frost upon the pane.
Subdued by touch of winter's frigid hand,
I pray for spring to find me once again.
O'wind, you whistle to the winter's tune.
Your melody is heard 'pon day and night,
but one day spring will come to rescue me,
and wisk away your song of winter's blight.
O'tree, you're frozen in the winter's dream.
Your leaves have left you 'neath a moon of white,
but when my prayers are answered 'pon spring's dawn,
you'll thaw beneath its sun with warm delight.
O'field, your harvest has been reaped and spent ~
and winter blankets you 'neath snowy mounds.
Yet one day soon in springtime's rising mist
you'll feel the greening of your earth rebound.
Winter holds me with his arms of icy white,
and kissed my breath with frost upon the pane ~
but deep within I somehow always know,
that spring will come and find me once again.

Your Eyes
The night sky is not a place,
Where I could lost while watching.
That time I would only remember ur face,
But still moons n stars try attracting
I wonder why they are so beautiful!
I could watch them for hour's n hours,
Those two eyes of yours and I give
Damn to those moon n stars.
Stars are millions n your eyes are two
But your eyes are the one to win.
Dear, It's the same mistake they always do
Every night, come to sky n compare with you
Or maybe that's not what they are doing,
They must have known you would be sleeping
In night, so they are taking their chance
Being happy, twinkling in sky and doing dance.
Many would fall in the beauty of the stars
Watching them from roofs, window, street and
Stopping bike and looking through the window of cars
Lost in its beauty and never ending night that's what they demand.
But sorry dear, I also look to the sky.
Laugh at them because I know they are shy
I don't want to see its beauty,
I have a thing to do and I call it my duty.
I ask them not to come to sky ever again
Remember this or else u (stars) would be in a great pain.
I wish if I could destroy then all,
Blast them in pieces with the strongest cannon ball.
Let's leave this and them in their own world.
I know your eyes are too beautiful.
So let me see your eyes until the day is over
I want to lost in its deepness for forever.
Don't try to hide those from me
They are to beautiful so let me see,
Or don't block with your hands or move your head
If I don't see it, still I would be breathing but a man like dead.
So please don't stop me dear,
I can't see it every day,
I am happy, smiling, inside I am dancing
It's all because u came to meet me today…
End

Nocturnal artistry for M lady Ann Beard
Nocturnal artistry
The frost adds glitter to the grass.
Which stands erect like silver spears.
Transient beauty which will pass.
The suns rays make them disappear.
Lacy designs on window glass.
More delicate than human art
We’d like to keep them but alas.
WE must accept they will depart.
When morning breaks the sun will rise
Undo the efforts of Jack Frost
which we expect it’s no surprise.
Though we bemoan the beauty lost.
Tonight Jack Frost will paint again
his patterns on each window pane.

The first Snow for M 'lady Tara
Now almost imperceptibly the snow is falling steadily.
Unruffled by the slightest breeze to coat the branches of the trees
with layers of the purest white which sparkle in the pale moonlight.
A sight that’s pleasing to my eyes. Beneath the trees a blanket lies
as yet a flimsy covering but it is slowly thickening.
As falling snow relentlessly, continues drifting quietly.
The world reverts to black and white. It is a bitter winter’s night
I sit and watch from my window backlit by the firelights glow.
I’m thankful that I need not go outdoors amidst the falling snow.
I am content to stay inside I much prefer my fireside.
Although it’s beautiful to see the snow descending steadily.
I am too old to brave the cold I leave that to the young and bold.
Tomorrow with the morning sun the children will be having fun.
With cries of glee they’ll greet the snow and I will watch from my window.
The antics of small girls and boys as they engage in childish ploys.
Just as I did so long ago when I could enjoy the snow.
One benefit of being old I stay inside when it is cold.
My aching bones will not permit me to do much more than sit
and watch the children as they play and remember my young days.

Between the Now and Then
Upon horizon, night to day ~
there between the now and then,
I often pause along the way,
to tiptoe through the moonlit glen ~
or perhaps take in sun's light,
night to day ~ day to night.
Upon horizon, day to day ~
there between the then and now,
as seasons grow along the way,
to crease the face of timely brow ~
or perhaps steal time away,
day to day ~ day to day.
Upon horizon, day to night ~
there between the now and then,
I stand beneath my autumn light,
bereft as memory calls again ~
to pain the heart with bygone sight,
Night to day ~ day to night.
Upon horizon, night to night ~
there between the then and now,
I know that winter casts its sight,
on one last leaf that will not bow ~
to frost within its golden sight,
night to night ~ night to night.
Upon horizon, night to day ~
there between the now and then,
I know my spring will fade away,
and summer's soft remember when
will echo gently autumn's way ~
day to night ~ night to day....
Winter's near ~ Winter's near......

Fairy Frost
Before the dawn, the fairy, Frost, flies free
Amongst the dewy grassblades on the lawn.
She drapes her feathers on each branch and tree
Before the dawn.
As if she were to rule an empire born,
White as the bloom upon the cherry, she
Drifts over gardens with a haughty scorn.
With angel wings she flits, just like Queen Bee,
But, as the blackness of the night is torn
To shreds by sunlight, Fairy Frost must flee
Before the dawn.

Christmas To Me
The misty fog
Crept slowly in
As the crystal of frost
Climbed on my window pane
I stand outside
In the cold winter breeze
Feeling the chill
Of our first winter freeze
Will I get to see?
My first snow flake
Will I get to make
An angel in the snow
Will I get to make
A snowman with glee
I stand here pondering
What is a white Christmas?
I can't begin to fathom
A snow white land
Is it true?
Is snow like crystals?
That shimmers in the sun
Do they softly grace?
Your gardens
In the midwinter fun
Christmas to me
Is a Barbie at the beach?
Beach games and swimming
Is how we have our Yule Tide Treats?

Certainty for M lady Tsira
The fairy dust Jack Frost has cast
across the rooftops liberally.
Now twinkles in the orange glow
Recalling scenes from long ago.
Scenes from my childhood now long past
I still remember vividly.
The softer glow from the gas lights,
not orange but a greenish hue.
A thousand, thousand points of light
like tiny stars they were so bright.
I used to love the winter nights
and must confess that I still do.
I did not use to mind the cold
Then I was young now I grow old.
So I prefer to stay inside
and watch the frost forming outside.
Appreciate the beauty show
from where I’m dry and warm. I know.
that old age does not come alone
My aging joints reminding me.
To only go out if I must
Be wary of the fairy dust
and when I do to wrap up warm
Then I will come to no great harm.
Jack Frost will sprinkle fairy dust
long after I am dead and gone.
I must enjoy it while I may
it almost turns the night to day.
His is a promise I can trust
the sparkling frost will linger on.

Everything Was White
Woke up this morning,
outside I beheld
a wonderful sight.
Jack Frost had been around
and everything was white.
It might have been cold,
but I didn’t care.
You could see your breath
freezing in the morning air.
Out came the scraper
to get the frost of the car,
still it was a wonderful sight
seeing Jack Frost’s handy work
and everything white.

A Frost Has Come
A frost has come this night
To visit all the land
A cold death slowly emerges
From the deep darkness
Of a long forgotten dream
The ground beneath the foot
Hardened like a tombs stone
The warm glow of street lights
Catches the shine off the icy path
Unsteady to walk upon
While the open sky above
As vast and beautiful as ever
Leaves the mind feeling small
Oh what words are wanted
To be heard and spoken
To bring company this night
To birth new life once more
In a land cold and dark
