Marriage
LOVE springs as lightly from the human heart
As springs the lovely rose upon the brier,
Which turns the common hedge to floral fire,
As Love wings Time with rosy-feathered dart.
But marriage is the subtlest work of art
Of all the arts which lift the spirit higher;
The incarnation of the heart's desire--
Which masters Time--set on Man's will apart.
The Many try, but oh! how few are they
To whom that finest of the arts is given
Which shall teach Love, the rosy runaway,
To bide from bridal Morn to brooding Even.
Yet this--this only--is the narrow way
By which, while yet on earth, we enter heaven.

Rondeau Redoublé
[and scarcely worth the trouble, at that]
The same to me are somber days and gay.
Though Joyous dawns the rosy morn, and bright,
Because my dearest love is gone away
Within my heart is melancholy night.
My heart beats low in loneliness, despite
That riotous Summer holds the earth in sway.
In cerements my spirit is bedight;
The same to me are somber days and gay.
Though breezes in the rippling grasses play,
And waves dash high and far in glorious might,
I thrill no longer to the sparkling day,
Though joyous dawns the rosy morn, and bright.
Ungraceful seems to me the swallow's flight;
As well might heaven's blue be sullen gray;
My soul discerns no beauty in their sight
Because my dearest love is gone away.
Let roses fling afar their crimson spray,
And virgin daisies splash the fields with white,
Let bloom the poppy hotly as it may,
Within my heart is melancholy night.
And this, O love, my pitiable plight
Whenever from my circling arms you stray;
This little world of mine has lost its light....
I hope to God, my dear, that you can say
The same to me.

Higher Ground
Walk me over this situation
Let the suns light warm my face
Once again the times are changing
Once again Ive lost my way
While the words of acient poets
Fall like dust upon my shoes
Greed has grabbed me of my vision
Turned my heart from higher truths
So take my hand and lift me higher
Be my love and my desire
Hold me safe, in honor bound
Take my heart to higher ground
I have walked too long in darkness
I have walked too long alone
Blindy clutching fist of diamonds
That I found were only stones
I would trade the wealth of ages
For a warmer hand to hold
Though the path of life is narrow
But it leads the streets of gold
So take my hand and lift me higher
Be my love and my desire
Hold me safe, in honor bound
Take my heart to higher ground
In this world we move through shadows
Never sure of what we see
While the truth abides between us
Come and share the truth with me
So take my hand and lift me higher
Be my love and my desire
Hold me safe in honor bound
Take my heart to higher ground
Ooh, ooh

My Heavenly Dream
How could I
So Much without love
Come to speak secret things
From Heaven above?
Born of my need
Only love I desired
I flew angel speed
To Heaven up higher
I saw things so dear
My eyes were made new
A splendor so clear
Like the first morning dew
What there I did hear
Made my heart all anew
It was given to me
So to share it with you
The Love in that place
Is beyond all desire
They call it God's Grace
In heaven up higher
It was given to me
But not mine to keep
It's yours too you see
So to stars we can leap!
This Glorious Love
I knew in my sleep
From High up above
In my heart now so deep
Just dream of Love Pure
All the Love you desire
It's yours to be sure
From Heaven up higher
This Love in my dream
So unknown just before
To stars must I stream
To sense it once more?
This Love I know true
In my heart tho' broken
Is all here for you
In these tender words spoken:
'I Love you! We Love you! '
Three words o' so dear
From His heaven up Higher
To your hearts down here

One Night
The room was penurious and common,
Hidden over a disreputable tavern,
The alley could be seen from the window,
Unclean and narrow. From below
Came the voices of a few workmen
Who were playing cards and having a good time.
There on the vulgar on the humble bed
I had the body of love, I had the lips,
The sensuous, the rosy lips of wine,
Rosy with such a wine, that even now
Here as I write, after so many years,
In my solitary house, I am drunk again.

Earth’s Moments Of Gloom
“The heart knoweth its own bitterness”
The heart hath its moments of hopeless gloom,
As rayless as is the dark night of the tomb;
When the past has no spell, the future no ray,
To chase the sad cloud from the spirit away;
When earth, though in all her rich beauty arrayed,
Hath a gloom o’er her flowers—o’er her skies a dark shade,
And we turn from all pleasure with loathing away,
Too downcast, too spirit sick, even to pray!
Oh! where may the heart seek, in moments like this,
A whisper of hope, or a faint gleam of bliss?
When friendship seems naught but a cold, cheerless flame,
And love a still falser and emptier name;
When honors and wealth are a wearisome chain,
Each link interwoven with grief and with pain,
And each solace or joy that the spirit might crave
Is barren of comfort and dark as the grave.
Lift—lift up thy sinking heart, pilgrim of life!
A sure spell there is for thy spirit’s sad strife;
’Tis not to be found in the well-springs of earth,—
Oh! no, ’tis of higher and holier birth.

A Spell For Creation
Within the flower there lies a seed,
Within the seed there springs a tree,
Within the tree there spreads a wood.
In the wood there burns a fire,
And in the fire there melts a stone,
Within the stone a ring of iron.
Within the ring there lies an O,
Within the O there looks an eye,
In the eye there swims a sea,
And in the sea reflected sky,
And in the sky there shines the sun,
Within the sun a bird of gold.
Within the bird there beats a heart,
And from the heart there flows a song,
And in the song there sings a word.
In the word there speaks a world,
A world of joy, a world of grief,
From joy and grief there springs my love.
Oh love, my love, there springs a world,
And on the world there shines a sun,
And in the sun there burns a fire,
Within the fire consumes my heart,
And in my heart there beats a bird,
And in the bird there wakes an eye,
Within the eye, earth, sea and sky,
Earth, sky and sea within an O
Lie like the seed within the flower.

Love Can Build A Bridge
I'd gladly walk across the desert
With no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite
Of bread I had to eat
I'd would swim out to save you
In your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinking
Let me show you what love means
Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time?
Don't you think it's time?
I would whisper love so loudly
Every heart could understand
That love and only love
Can join the tribes of man
I would give my heart's desire
So that you might see
The first step is to realize
That it all begins with you and me
Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time?
Don't you think it's time?
When we stand together
It's our finest hour
We can do anything, anything
Anything, anything
Keep believin' in the power
Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time?
Don't you think it's time?
Love and only love
Love and only love

The Pining Poet's Plea...
The girl I love has eyes of blue
That twinkle when they look at you!
Her cheeks are pink unless they blush -
And when she does, she's all a hush!
Her teeth are white, two perfect rows,
And every one just glows and glows!
Her hair outshines the finest gold!
Yes, she's a glory to behold!
I know not if she comprehends
That I would wish us more than friends...
Yet Love takes time to weave its spell -
If not, it sighs... and says farewell.
Where hearts are open, Love persists
And poetry it oft enlists...
With 'incantations' to inspire
So every heart can taste desire!
Then from the yearnings borne within,
Springs forth true courage, 'Don't give in! '
And so I bide my time like Love
With sighing prayers that soar above
To linger round God's Throne of Grace
Like flying photos of her face...
I hope God's on my side in this
And that at last this girl I kiss!
If not, I'll sulk, I know I will...
I'll pine for her until I'm ill...
I'll sigh all day, I'll sigh all night -
I think I'll sigh with all my might!
If I'm not healed, I'll pine and pine...
With thoughts of her... my Valentine...

Sicelo
Smile when you've found your lover and,
Get your passport ready when you need wings;
For he who takes my child by the hand takes me by the heart too.
I am satisfied like a fax machine and,
This love to you is like the golden opportunity;
So, i would like to thank you for last night.
You are like the epitome of the human achievement,
And paradoxically with the real love from your heart;
But your symbolic art of love means a lot to me.
Sicelo, you are illumuninated with aspirant acts of the arts;
And, i am philosophically glued to your heart of love.

Disdain Returned
He that loves a rosy cheek,
Or a coral lip admires,
Or from starlike eyes doth seek
Fuel to maintain his fires;
As old Time makes these decay,
So his flames must waste away.
But a smooth and steadfast mind,
Gentle thoughts and calm desires,
Hearts with equal love combined,
Kindle never-dying fires.
Where these are not, I despise
Lovely cheeks, or lips, or eyes.
No tears, Celia, now shall win
My resolved heart to return;
I have searched thy soul within,
And find naught but pride and scorn;
I have learned thy arts, and now
Can disdain as much as thou.
Some power, in my revenge convey
That love to her I cast away.

To Iris
IF I might build a palace, fair
With every joy of soul and sense,
And set my heart as sentry there
To guard your happy innocence--
If I might plant a hedge so strong
No creeping sorrow could writhe through,
And find my whole life not too long
To give, to make your hedge for you--
If I could teach the wandering air
To bring no sounds that were not sweet,
Could teach the earth that only fair
Untrodden flower deserved your feet:
Would I not tear the secret scroll
Where all your griefs lie closely curled,
And give your little hand control
Of all the joys of all the world?
But ah! I have no skill to raise
The palace, teach the hedge to grow;
The common airs blow through your days,
By common ways your dear feet go.
And you must twine of common flowers
The wreath that happy women wear,
And bear in desolate darkened hours
The common griefs that all men bear.
The pinions of my love I fold
Your little shoulders close about:
Ah--could my love keep out the cold
And shut the creeping sorrows out!
Rough paths will tire your darling feet,
Gray skies will weep your tears above,
While round you still, in torment, beat
The impotent wings of mother-love.

Heartless
Verse 1:
You tell me that you're in love with me
You tell me that I'm your destiny
Won't harm you
I gotta warn you
No trusting my face so sweet and tender
Whatever you do I won't surrender
Take me
But you can't break me
Beware of me baby ooh
Chorus:
Heartless
Protected by guardians of
Darkness
My contract with love will expire
My feelings are spoiled by desire
You can't break my heart baby ooh
Heartless
My heaven on earth it is
Starless
I used to dance on a high wire
And under my feet there was fire
Climbing higher and higher ooohh
Verse 2:
That's why I don't believe in words
I had to experience how it hurts
To struggle
In man-made trouble
So baby it's just okay to kiss you
But don't ever think my heart will miss you
Believe me
I'm just deceivin
Beware of me baby ooh
Chorus:
Heartless
Protected by guardians of
Darkness
My contract with love will expire
My feelings are spoiled by desire
You can't break my heart baby ooh
Heartless
My heaven on earth it is
Starless
I used to dance on a high wire
And under my feet there was fire
Climbing higher and higher ooohh
Heartless
My heaven on earth it is
Starless
And under my feet there was fire
Climbing higher and higher ooohh
Chorus:
Heartless
Protected by guardians of
Darkness
My contract with love will expire
My feelings are spoiled by desire
You can't break my heart baby ooh
Heartless
My heaven on earth it is
Starless
I used to dance on a high wire
And under my feet there was fire
Climbing higher and higher ooohh

Gertrude Stein met Marilyn Monroe in Tiffany's
a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose
and a dozen roses ring around a posy -
but a rose is not as rosy as a ring -
for diamonds are a man's best bet;
a rose is just a rose but the future could be rosy -
a diamond is a girl's best bait.
a rose is a rose but eventually goes off;
even love can have a nasty end;
but a man who's had his day can always be disposed of...
while diamonds are a lifetime friend...

Flowers Of My Heart
Enter my flowers
love becomes an open
door
into my hearts way
color my love red
the passion of this
blossom
brings fire to my
life
pink and delicate
this rose belongs to
my heart
she overwhelms me
in the purity of
this lovely rose bud
white
I always find delight
I melt in the nectar
of this beautiful
flower
dainty and yellow.
I love.!
the essence of my
coral rose
a blend of many
colors
so endearing
a late bloomer
yet so lovely
adding to my bouquet
once again I come
to the flowers of my
heart
lost in their beauty.

Sono Luminus
I never thought that I would reach you
Though Ive been searching, for oh so many years
This place I am seems unfamiliar
But theres a light, to break through all my fears
Still, time & time again
Im looking for the love
The one that can inspire
Life me higher, high as heaven can be (sono luminus)
Love is here where it always will be, deep inside of us
Im looking out into the distance
The sound of thunder is rolling in my head
The sky is stretching out before me
Thanks for today, everything is blessed
So, here we go again
Well be searching for the truth
Until the twelfth of never
Lift me higher, high as heaven can be (sono luminus)
Love is here where it always will be, deep inside of us
I never thought that I would reach you
Feels like this road has been going on for miles
Dont have to write or even see you
cause theres a light, burning on the inside
Still, time & time again
Were looking for the love
The one that can inspire
Lift me higher, high as heaven can be
Our love is super love, fly robin fly
Wherever you are, saint or sinner be strong (sono luminus)
Lift me higher, high as heaven can be
Our love is super love, (burn baby burn)

Work Dignity
Hands!
I see many hands
Watching fingers
Graciously playing
piano flute or harps
Writing molding painting
sounds and colors
to brighten and lighten
every heart
Those arts are
to become a special present
for those similar fingers
similar hands of our parents
grandparents
or grandgrands..
hands taking so much pride
in building, feeding, cleaning,
carrying in any way they could
for those inspired ones..
for our earth..
Those working hands
the finest souls
Could never scream out their
happiness or pain
because the lack of time
to even catch a breathe
But they too
expressed themselves
and done their best, oh yes
through work
own love and kindness
never stoped to spread.
Truth:
The Hard Workers!
Are Masters of the World!
Let's recognise
and value them
at Real price.

She Sung of Love
She sung of Love, while o'er her lyre
The rosy rays of evening fell,
As if to feed with their soft fire
The soul within that trembling shell.
The same rich light hung o'er her cheek,
And play'd around those lips that sung
And spoke, as flowers would sing and speak,
If Love could lend their leaves a tongue.
But soon the West no longer burn'd,
Each rosy ray from heaven withdrew;
And, when to gaze again I turn'd,
The minstrel's form seem'd fading too.
As if her light and heaven's were one,
The glory all had left that frame;
And from her glimmering lips the tone,
As from a parting spirit, came.
Who ever loved, but had the thought
That he and all he loved must part?
Fill'd with this fear, I flew and caught
The fading image to my heart --
And cried, "Oh Love! is this thy doom?
Oh light of youth's resplendent day!
Must ye then lose your golden bloom,
And thus, like sunshine die away?"

Runaway
Nobody said it would be easy
Nobody gives you guarantees
cos a heart can always be broken
And there can be no loving without tears
Runaway to a place where nobody knows
Runaway gotta let this feeling go
Runaway if I cant find love,
Im gonna runaway
Nobodys looking for perfection
How could they give it in return
But I told my heart to believe you
And you just gave your love to anyone
Runaway to a place where nobody knows
Runaway gotta let this feeling go
Runaway and I dont want to hurt anymore
Though my heart is always aching
If I cant find love,
Im gonna runaway
