Sunrise at Skellig Michael

Night’s paling azurite horizon
cloaked in a gossamer veil of clouds
briefly contests the sunrise
thus allowing nights last stars
some fickle final twinkling
before dwindling from sight

But the Sun has promises to keep
a rendezvous with day
already marked as tardy
by screeching of gulls and gannets
which orchestrate impatient puffin jigs

Sunbeams breach the clouds
gathering strength on far horizon
they surf the ridges of distant waves
gilding each crest in turn
in the race to meet the shore

Light pools around Skellig Michael
and creates a magic floating island
briefly trapped between sea and sky
mysterious as monks
now lost in mists of time

My glimpse being but a pale shadow
snatched from distant flattened shore
leaves me envious almost
of those who contemplated in solitude
centuries of such miraculous dawns

Reader’s note: Skellig Michael, also known as Great Skellig, is a steep rocky island about 16 kilometres off the coast of County Kerry, Ireland. It is the larger of the two Skellig Islands. A celtic monastery, which is situated almost at the summit of the 240-metre-high rock, was built in 588, and became a World Heritage Site in 1996. My own meager experience of this glorious sunrise (from distant flattened shore) comes only by way of viewing the program ‘Sunrise Earth’ on Discovery HD Theater.

Surf's Up Tonight On Magic Island

We walk along the distant shoreline
The waves crash upon the shore
The palm trees sway in the breeze
Leaving the magic of the night in the air for the both of us

The waves are just right
So let's grab our boards
Hit the sea
And grab a wave tonight

Surf's up tonight on Magic Island
And we'll smile and laugh
Like we have not a care in the world

We'll just ride the waves
And hope for this time between you and I to be saved

Before the Sunrise Appeared

As I stood on the shore,
Before the Sunrise appeared.
I felt the breeze upon my naked chest.
Embraced within a safety net.
And this I can not express!
But to keep it held!

As I stood on the shore,
Before the Sunrise appeared...
I witnessed the calm of a new day begin.
I felt a peace released upon the horizon.
To etch the boundaries of my life with light.
I could not help but smile.

Internal Reverie

In the darkness on a starlit night
I lay close to the shore of my memory and imagination-
Waves of anger and recollections of personal injury,
Mistrust and betrayal are flooding over me as
A tidal wave would, splashing tears of hurt and doubt
From my eyes as the moon laughs ridiculing
The fear that has me immobilized-
Starlight is dim as any hope left inside,
The light of the moon, figments of my imagination and
Feelings of rage are overwhelming me as
Rain begins to fall and as raindrops hit the ground I feel an upsurge of emotion-
I cannot control as the starlight becomes dimmer
- Inside my mind a clock is ticking rapidly-
Flight of time is terrifying as the waves of resentment
Splash upon the imaginary shore where I lie-
Lost hope and the pain of self harm induce once hidden fears to resurface-
Ships sailing in an ocean without direction, in the darkness of this starlit night
I would board a ship and search for another destination as
I ride the waves, no land in sight- Overcome by bleak darkness as the moon disappears
Behind the clouds and the rain pours down in torrents,
Blinding me- I never believed there was a god or a heaven,
I never believed in angels singing or
Patron saints that would bring me towards some sort of salvation-
Life has been a tragic musical of which I am the star-
Lost inside my own world from which I was snatched away-
I lived in a world where the sun rose in the very early morning and
People never deceived one another and starlight was bright in
The early evening, into the dawn of the next day-
Waves were gentle, washing over a shore of freedom and
Rain never fell, obliterating my horizon-
I ride my ship into the night as the stars and moon have disappeared-
Waves are closing in on me and I am searching for an island of serenity –
I hear for the first time angels singing their most heartrending melodies-
Perhaps it is only a dream- but in my mind dreams are my only reality as
I can see the stars appearing on the horizon as candles would brighten a
Home on a winter’s night, I keep on riding that ship still trying to find redemption-
Islands of expectation and trust that may appear in my wildest reverie-
In fate and luck I am a believer whether or not a God exists-therefore
Even though light may be dim, a gentle ocean breeze shall
Perhaps carry me towards that island in my fondest dream where
The sun shall appear from behind those clouds of misfortune, which shall
Become none but lost memories of the past, never to reemerge.

Self-Worth

A rock on the river sits
Collecting moss, tufts, and weeds
As others moved by a torrent
To unknown shore from a distant

A rock, I am, in that sense -
Of self-value - what have I missed?
Than a new flow passing by
Under the arms of its stream

Each bathes of sunrise and sunsets
Clueless mornings of muddled clouds
Or a cascade of moonrise
I'm unmoved without self-pity

Sunrise

Sunrise
And the new days breakin through
The morning
Of another day without you
And as the hours roll by
No-ones there to see me cry
Except the sunrise
The sunrise and you
Tired eyes drift across the shore
Looking for love and nothing more
But as the sea rolls by
No-ones there to see me cry
Excep the sunrise
The sunrise and you
Sunrise
Bless my eyes
Catch my soul
Make me whole again
Sunrise, new day
Hear my song
Im tired of fightin
And foolin around
But from now on
Till who knows when
My sword will be my pen
And Ill love you, love you
For all of my time

A Distant Smile

Sunrise, Sunset,
Warm night, regrets.
Summer night dream,
What dream may come?

Life, lies, crime,
live your life the same.
Your destiny will prevail,
From nowhere a distant smile.

Lost love, lost war, life in slow motions,
Lust, attractions, deep night of passion.
Still your destiny will prevail,
From nowhere a distant smile.

Togheter, two soul in this dull begin,
fire on us, but in this holy night will win.
but still your destiny will prevail,
From nowhere a distant smile.

The deep blue see on this horizon,
Will bring to us high terrifying tides,
I can see on the way the perfect wave to ride,
I can see come to us, is a bit far, maybe just a mile,
And from nowhere will appear a distant smile.

Sailing Ships

(coverdale/vandenberg)
Do you remember
Standing on the shore,
Head in the clouds,
Your pockets filled with dreams
Bound for glory
On the seven seas of life,
But, the ocean is deeper than it seems
The wind was with you
When you left on the morning tide,
You set your sail for an island in the sun,
On the horizon, dark clouds up ahead,
For the storm has just begun
Take me with you,
Take me far away,
Lead me to the distant shore
Sail your ship across the water,
Spread your wings across the sky
Take the time to see
Youre the one who holds the key,
Or sailing ships will pass you by
You cry for mercy,
When you think youve lost your way,
You drift alone, if all your hope is gone
So find the strength and you will see
You control, your destiny,
After all is said and done
So take me with you,
Take me far away,
An lead me to the distant shore
Sail your ship across the water,
Spread your wings across the sky
Take the time to see
Youre the one who holds the key,
Or sailing ships will pass,
Sailing ships will pass you,
Sailing ships will pass you by...
Take me with you,
Take me far away,
Well ride the wind across the sky
Spread your wings and you will see
You control, your destiny,
So sailing ships dont pass you by
So take me with you,
Take me far away,
Well ride the wind across the sky
Spread your wings and you will see
You control, your destiny,
So sailing ships dont pass,
So sailing ships dont pass you,
So sailing ships dont pass you by...
Baby, baby, baby, baby,
Youll find that youre the only one
Can sail your ship across the sky

Drifting Too Far

Out on the perilous deep,
Where danger silently creeps,
And storm's so violently sweeping,
You're drifting too far from shore.
Chorus:
Drifting too far from shore,
You're drifting too far from shore,
Come to Jesus today,
Let Him show you the way
You're drifting too far from shore.
Today, the Tempest rose high,
And clouds o'er shadow the sky.
Sure death is hovering neigh,
You're drifting too far from shore.
Drifting too far from shore,
You're drifting too far from shore,
Come to Jesus today,
Let Him show you the way
You're drifting too far from shore.
Why meet a terrible fate?
Mercies abundantly wait.
Turn back before it's too late
You're drifting too far from shore.
Drifting too far from shore
You're drifting too far from shore (peaceful shore)
Come to Jesus today. Let him show you the way
You're drifting too far from shore...

The Vanishing Race

(graham russell, michael sherwood, larry antonio)
Sun, I cant slow you down
Run, build on sacred ground
All of the leaves have blown away
Ghosts on a distant highway
In a vanishing race
Sleep, if your eyes must close
Weep, over a poisoned rose
Soon all the tears will blow away
Dust on a distant highway
In the vanishing race
Fly, closer to the sun
Fight, till your world is one
Soon all the stars will burn away
Ghosts on a different highway
In the vanishing race
Oh, shall we sleep tonight
Oh, when theres no hope in sight
Take all your dreams and drive away
Smoke on a distant highway
From the vanishing race
All my people
Respect your mother earth
Thank you for this life and this breath
And all my peoples strength

Nearest Distant Shore

(written by gary harrison, tim mensy)
You fight for every breath
Caught without a ship in this sea of neglect
The one you swore to love is pulling you down
Youre in over your head
Chilled to the bone by the waters youve tread
Chart a course to land, before you drown
Swim to the nearest distant shore
Theres only so much a heart can endure
You gave it your best, forgive yourself
You cant hold on anymore
Its not as far as it might seem
Now its time to let go of old dreams
Every heart for itself
Swim to the nearest distant shore
He said for you hed change
Then hed let you down and watch you take the blame
Youre trapped between his lies and the great unknown
You vowed you would not fail
But this aint success its a living hell
Theres nothing left to lose, youre already alone
Swim to the nearest distant shore
Theres only so much a heart can endure
You gave it your best, forgive yourself
You cant hold on anymore
Its not as far as it might seem
Now its time to let go of old dreams
Every heart for itself
Swim to the nearest distant shore

Islands

Earth, stream and tree encircled by sea
Waves sweep the sand from my island.
My sunsets fade.
Field and glade wait only for rain
Grain after grain love erodes my
High weathered walls which fend off the tide
Cradle the wind
To my island.
Gaunt granite climbs where gulls wheel and glide
Mournfully glide oer my island.
My dawn brides veil, damp and pale,
Dissolves in the sun.
Loves web is spun - cats prowl, mice run
Wreathe snatch-hand briars where owls know my eyes
Violet skies
Touch my island,
Touch me.
Beneath the wind turned wave
Infinite peace
Islands join hands
neathe heavens sea.
Dark harbour quays like fingers of stone
Hungrily reach from my island.
Clutch sailors words - pearls and gourds
Are strewn on my shore.
Equal in love, bound in circles.
Earth, stream and tree return to the sea
Waves sweep sand from my island,
From me.

Sunrise Sunset

Sunrise sunset in the mood of the way
In the colors of flame and darkish hour
Every shine time of night and the day
Like golden horizon of a new flower
Together to fill up the dream flight time
Of call from alone in the distant past
Where flow of the glimmering is in prime
When moon and the stars show off in their cast
With love so tender in splendor and spark
Of night in the twilight after sunset
Its glistening glowing to deepness dark
With colors of heaven in glow alphabet
Till sunrise in the morning comes new
To dawn of the rising on to a day true

Rendezvous At Sunset

Back on my feet
Another week is nearly over
We gotta meet
Now the beat is taking over
I work harder now Im done
I want a little fun, so tight
I took all I have to do
And now all I want is you tonight
Lets rendezvous at sunset
Take it through to sunrise
Well have a night well never forget
Well have the time, the time of our lives
Take me away
From here and into heaven
Need to escape
And I wanna go together
When Im oh so close to you
You hold me like you do, so nice
I can feel the rhythm now
Gotta get on down tonight
Lets rendezvous at sunset
Take it through to sunrise
Well have a night well never forget
Well have the time, the time of our lives
Lets rendezvous at sunset
Take it through to sunrise
Well have a night well never forget
Well have the time, the time of our lives
Rendezvous at sunset
Rendezvous
Rendezvous at sunset
Rendezvous
When Im oh so close to you
You hold me like you do, so nice
I can feel the rhythm now
Gotta get on down tonight
Lets rendezvous at sunset
Take it through to sunrise
Well have a night well never forget
Well have the time, the time of our lives
Lets rendezvous at sunset
Take it through to sunrise
Well have a night well never forget
Well have the time, the time of our lives

Waiting For The Sunrise

Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
So I can take your hand and stroll about.
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
So we can go on the streets and see the people smile.
Give me your hand,
So I could tell you that things will be alright.
The rooms still dark,
But it wont be so long,
And I can take you outside.
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
So we can go to the park and roll about.
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
So we can go to the docks and watch the boats go by.
Come on, love, give me your hand,
And things will be alright.
The rooms still cold,
But it wont be so long,
That we can go outside.
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
So I could see your hair shining in the air.
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
So I can see the sky reflected in your eyes.
Come on, love, dont be depressed,
Things will be alright.
The rooms too low,
But it wont be so long,
That we can be outside.
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise,
Waiting for the sunrise.

A Knight At The Seashore

the knight came from the enchanted forest
onto the shore, came the galloping horse
with a handsome knight still unknowing
could this be the sparkling castle?
the castle of the most famous king
the seabreeze was welcoming
with the waves so gentle
the horse slowly went onward
watching the seagulls fly overhead
out to sea, in the distant horizon
the sun was lower, as if going for a dive
with light playing in the water
the knight saw only a fair maiden
in the far distance, walking alone on the shore

Amazing

Isn’t it amazing

how the universe is so large?

We are here on Earth

our planet larger than Mars.

Looking up at the stars,

we are at a distance quite far.

Why we are light years away,

we lived in their galaxy in a past day.

Will we get to travel there,

I guess only at night,

When our soul leaves our body

to be free and take flight.

My Island Far Away

Across the distant shores
Where Silence dwells with Solitude,
A place I have been before,
Where Peace had been my daily food.

Soothing songs of palm trees
Dancing with Tranquility
Sways my hammock gently
And restful Sleep comes easily.

As blue waves kiss the shore,
And salty air embraces me,
Caress my very core -
Mermaid songs of the Sea.

In my island far away,
I always have companions.
Share my time, know my ways
Shape my thoughts and my opinions.

I will never be alone,
For they are in this island.
My pen, my books, my phone -
As I take the trip in my mind.

Working Metaphore

Work is like an island in an ocean of time
Landing on this shore felt like paradise
But the island is small and quickly grows boring
I am standing in the water, looking out as I work

Time passes in portions of half an hour
Wave upon wave of life slipping down the tide-line
I am deciding whether to let go and wash away with it
Or hold on and climb the beach again

How many islands are in this ocean?
I gaze out and see a few just waiting for me
Can I swim to them, will they take me?
In the water between them, is there love lurking?

Changes are on the horizon, as a tsunami
Rolling towards this island invisibly, towards me
None of the islands will survive it, I fear
Or maybe only I will be washed away into oblivion

Tick, splash, tick, splash, wave upon wave of half hours
Carrying me just a little further from the dry sand
Behind me, the managers are calling from the trees
I hesitate for a moment, and let the waves wash over me

Only a few more, and I can swim for a while,
I might ride the changes to a far away place if I'm swimming
In the water I can meet another, to drown my regrets of the last
The waves wash over me, and I wait for the tide to swim
