breathing gets harder these days
when you have absolutely nothing left
you feel like dying
you just have to breathe
it's something that is easier said then done
i'm so done with trying to get in fights

A Buddhist Christmas
sitting on the bed
with my old blind dog...
breathing in, breathing out...
breathing in suffering,
all the suffering of the hungry,
the homeless, those in prison....
those ravaged by war....
of the lonely, those filled with despair,
the angry, the fearful, the lost....
breathing in deeply,
wrapping it all in snowlike stillness...

Hard to Breathe
I find it hard to breathe at times.
I gasp at the sight of you.
Still I know that breath will come
for my breathing can't be through.
I have too many words to say
and many more songs to write.
So breathing becomes unlabored
as I fill this page at night.
To think of the unthinkable
I just will not allow.
For I must see the face I love
and concentrate somehow
on never being unable to see

First we attacked the Russian soldiers with our gases, and then when we saw the poor fellows lying there, dying slowly, we tried to make breathing easier for them by using our own life-saving devices on them.
