I Am A Man!
i never understood...
the need to be popular,
to be the 'in' thing,
to be cool, to be hip,
never understood the need
for fame...
never waited to be patted
on the back,
never wanted to be followed...
i am what i am!
nothing more, nothing less.
a common man,
with a common heart,
a common soul,
and common hard working hands.
i can honestly say
that i have lived,
i have loved,
i have given past
the point of giving,
i have tried my wings
on countless occasions...
many times i fell,
but a few times i have flown!
i have forgiven,
and asked for forgiveness.
i believe what i believe,
and have stood up in spite of.
i am a man!

Deficiencies They Keep To Protect
Too often she has chosen to lie,
At the expense of others.
As she defended with protection,
Her insecurities she needs to correct.
But they have not been set,
As her priorities.
Just yet.
Too often he makes excuses,
For not making advances.
Towards that which will enhance his life.
And nothing suggested,
Will be okay or considered as right.
To him it is the environment he lives in,
That feeds his appetite all day and night.
They both have the same thing in common.
They both believe they should be bestowed,
Gift wrapped packages.
With their names on them in bold solid gold.
They both have the same thing in common.
They are both getting old.
With preferences they wish respected.
And a keeping of fears,
They can not see defects their steps.
Deficiencies they keep to protect.

Play It Safe
Bowie/pop
Say ta
Eisenhower saw the thing
He said this is sickening
I swear I saw the very thing
I saw it in america
Lets play safe
I never knew how
How to play safe
You told me how
How to play safe
A thousand times
I dont believe in fairies any more
Today I saw a very very thing
But thats another song
Youre too simple minded
Lets play it safe
What do we have in common?
Play it safe
What do we have in common?
Play it safe
I want to be a criminal
Play it safe

Fire Down Below
Words and music by bob seger
Here comes old rosie shes looking mighty fine
Here comes hot nancy shes steppin right on time
There go the street lights bringin on the night
Here come the men faces hidden from the light
All through the shadows they come and they go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below
Here comes the rich man in his big long limousine
Here comes the poor man all you got to have is green
Here comes the banker and the lawyer and the cop
One thing for certain it aint never gonna stop
When it all gets too heavy
Thats when they come and go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below
It happens out in vegas happens in moline
On the blue blood streets of boston
Up in berkeley and out in queens
And it went on yesterday and its going on tonight
Somewhere theres somebody aint treatin somebody right
And hes looking out for rosie and shes looking mighty fine
And hes walking the streets for nancy
And hell find her everytime
When the street light flicker bringing on the night
Well theyll be slipping into darkness slipping out of sight
All through the midnight
Watch em come and watch em go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below

The Common Law and Equity
The common law is male
Equity is female.
Each needs the other
For justice to be in order.
The common law is lame
Without equity’s fame.
Equity’s a piece of nonsense
Without common law’s presence.
When the conflicts arise,
Equity should stand tall
But upon the common law.
Both make justice rise.
The common law and equity
What a wonderful blend!

As If It Was Theirs On Demand
There is one thing I've learned,
About the use of my time.
I've learned through the years,
Not to let anyone abuse it...
As if it was theirs on demand.
And common sense?
Well...
I have discovered,
That it is not so common.
In fact the absence of it,
Can be expected.
And rare it is...
If it appears at all.
And the doing of something for others?
One should stop and think about that quick.
Since many people don't appreciate,
What it is for them that is done to assist.
Many will complain as if the time taken,
By someone who has gone out of their way...
Is not what they prefer.
They will have the nerve to say,
Something else desired...
Is what they deserve.
There is one thing I've learned,
About the use of my time.
I've learned through the years,
Not to let anyone abuse it...
As if it was theirs on demand.
And what I have chosen to do today...
Is to satisified and please my own thirst first!

If mind is common to us, then also the reason, whereby we are reasoning beings, is common. If this be so, then also the reason which enjoins what is to be done or left undone is common. If this be so, law also is common; if this be so, we are citizens; if this be so, we are partakers in one constitution; if this be so, the Universe is a kind of Commonwealth.

A world community can exist only with world communication, which means something more than extensive short-wave facilities scattered; about the globe. It means common understanding, a common tradition, common ideas, and common ideals.

So What Do We All Have In Common?
Thank you class.
I am glad all of us here,
Have agreed to take pictures of ourselves,
As an assigment.
Take a good look at each picture.
Now...
Pass your picture to your classmate.
Everyone do this quickly please.
No laughing.
Now...
With the scissors,
Cut away everything you see...
We all have that is common and familiar.
'There will leave nothing left to our pictures.'
Would you repeated that, Jack.
'There will leave nothing left to our pictures.'
Saying what?
'We all have the same thing in common.'
So what has happened to the picture?
'There is no picture.
There is nothing left to see.'
So what do we all have in common?
'Nothing! '
Well...uh...well...er um...
You've missed my point,
Entirely!

Its A Sin
(tennant/lowe)
-------------
(twenty seconds and counting...
T minus fifteen seconds, guidance is okay)
[? ]
When I look back upon my life
Its always with a sense of shame
Ive always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too
Its a, its a, its a, its a sin
Its a sin
Everything Ive ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place Ive ever been
Everywhere Im going to
Its a sin
At school they taught me how to be
So pure in thought and word and deed
They didnt quite succeed
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too
Its a, its a, its a, its a sin
Its a sin
Everything Ive ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place Ive ever been
Everywhere Im going to
Its a sin
Father, forgive me, I tried not to do it
Turned over a new leaf, then tore right through it
Whatever you taught me, I didnt believe it
Father, you fought me, cause I didnt care
And I still dont understand
So I look back upon my life
Forever with a sense of shame
Ive always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too
Its a, its a, its a, its a sin
Its a sin
Everything Ive ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place Ive ever been
Everywhere Im going to - its a sin
Its a, its a, its a, its a sin
Its a, its a, its a, its a sin
(confiteor deo omnipotenti vobis fratres, quia peccavi nimis cogitatione,

And to you my brothers,
That I have sinned exceedingly
In thought, word, act and omission,
Through my fault, through my fault,
Through my most grievous fault]

Red Red Rose
(david mallett)
You may wonder if you know me
You may wonder if I care
Or if Ill leave you sad and lonely
Or if Ill always be right there
Well theres no need for doubt now darlin
cause I have come to know
This love of ours is no common flower
You know this love is like a red, red rose
And you may wonder about this dreamer
If shes all you thought shed be
And, oh, if anything but someday
Ever comes from lovin me
But hold me close and tell me darlin
That you have come to know
This love I bring you is no common thing
You know this love is like a red, red rose
When youre all caught up in sweet surrender
Simple truth is sometimes hard to see
Here between the tough times and the tender
It all comes down to you and me
And you may see my heart of darkness
I may stumble now and again
But underneath this heart of darkness
Theres a heart thats lovin you right till the end
So hold me close, come hold me darlin
cause I want you to know
This love of ours is no common flower
You know this love is like a red, red rose
This love of ours is no common flower
You know this love is like a red, red rose

Good Evening Mr. Waldheim
Good evening mr.waldheim
And pontiff how are you?
You have so much in common
In the things you do
And here comes jesse jackson
He talks of common ground
Does that common ground include me
Or is it just a sound
A sound that shakes
Oh jesse, you must watch the sounds you make
A sound that quakes
There are fears that still reverberate
Jesse you say common ground
Does that include the plo?
What about people right here right now
Who fought for you not so long ago?
The words that flow so freely
Falling dancing from your lips
I hope that you dont cheapen them
With a racist slip
Oh common ground
Is common ground a word or just a sound
Common ground
Remember those civil rights workers buried in the ground
If I ran for president
And once was a member of the klan
Wouldnt you call me on it
The way I call you on farrakhan
And pontiff, pretty pontiff
Can anyone shake your hand ?
Or is it just that you like uniforms
And someone kissing your hand
Or is it true
The common ground for me includes you too
Oh, oh, is it true
The common ground for me includes you too
Good evening mr.waldheim
Pontiff how are you
As you both stroll through the woods at night
Im thinking thoughts of you
And jesse youre inside my thoughts
As the rhythmic words subside
My common ground invites you in
Or do you prefer to wait outside
Or is it true
The common ground for me is without you
Or is it true
The common ground for me is without you
Oh is it true
Theres no ground common enough for me and you

The Guy She Needs
She wants the guy she can never have.
She hates the guy who she can always have.
The guy she wants is the guy she doesn’t need.
The guy she hates is the guy she needs.
The guy she needs and she are way out of each others leagues.
They have a lot in common.
She’s smart he’s smart.
That’s the only thing each other know they have in common.
The reason its a lot is because they like each other and not another. She is slowly falling for this guy she needs, but she doesn’t know.
He is her drug.
A dream that she never had.
She is blinded by her love. S
he never believed in true love, but the guy she needs can change that.

For humanism also appeals to man as man. It seeks to liberate the universal qualities of human nature from the narrow limitations of blood and soil and class and to create a common language and a common culture in which men can realize their common humanity.

We are finite creatures. Our lives are small and can only scientifically consider a small part of reality. What's common for us is just a sliver of what's available. We can only see so much of the electromagnetic spectrum. We can only delve so deep into extensions of space. Common sense applies to that which we can access. But common sense is just that. Common. If total sense is what we want, we should be prepared to accept that we shouldn't call infinity weird or strange. The results we've arrived at by accepting it are valid, true within the system we use to understand, measure, predict and order the universe. Perhaps the system still needs perfecting, but at the end of day, history continues to show us that the universe isn't strange. We are.
