Eyes Before Glasses

eyes before glasses
like thought before word
or heart before hate

eyes before glasses
like trust before truth
or honesty before clarity

eyes before glasses
like hunger before ambition
or love before undercover

Small Things Bother Me

He wore dark glasses I could not see his eyes
And the mirror to his soul he did disguise
He hid from the World his personality
Without the eyes a face you only see.

Perhaps his eyes from the bright sun he shade
The main reason why dark glasses are made
And though he lives nearby him I shall never get to know
As he wears dark glasses rain or sun shine or snow.

Any acknowledgement of me he never seems to show
And we pass each other by without saying hello
Through his dark glasses into my soul he peer
And he's still a stranger though to me he lives near.

Perhaps I'm small in ways and small things get to me
But it bothers me when others eyes I cannot see
Whether their eyes be blue, brown, green or grey who can say
As the mirror to their soul behind dark glasses hidden away.

I see him often though not every day
And his eyes behind dark glasses always hidden away
The mirror of his soul is well hidden from me,
Perhaps I'm small and small things bother me.

He Wore Dark Sun glasses

The sun it was not shining and dark gray were the skies
Yet he wore dark sun glasses for to conceal his eyes
From the gaze of other people what was he trying to hide
Since to the mirror of his soul daylight he had denied.

Or maybe his eyes are sensitive to light so dark glasses at all times he must wear
Since seeing one wearing dark glasses on a cloudy morning is quite rare
In sunny weather many wear dark glasses to save their eyes from the sun's glare
On bright and warm Summer days of the sun one must beware.

This morning in the wind and rain it did seem strange to me
A young man wearing dark sun glasses out walking I did see
On such an overcast day sunglasses did seem out of place
If you cannot see a person's eyes you cannot memorize their face.

He may have eyes sensitive to light and have to wear dark glasses every day
But when I said hello to him he had nothing to say
If you cannot see a person's eyes to you that person a stranger remain
And I would not recognize his face were I to see him again.

The Bloke Who Is Wearing Dark Glasses

The bloke who is wearing dark glasses his eyes from me hidden away
Yet the sun is not even shining it is quite an overcast day
In my direction he keeps staring and that sort of does bother me
Which to say the least feels quite perturbing since his hidden eyes I cannot see
To me he is a complete stranger one that I have not seen before
In my direction he keeps staring as he stands by the Super-store door
If I could see his eyes I'd feel happier I look on a face without eyes
On an overcast day his dark glasses the windows to his soul disguise
I feel uncomfortable in the presence of people wearing dark glasses why this should be I do wonder why
But their right for to wear the dark eyes shades one of them could never deny
But our eyes can tell us more about us than words of us ever can say
They can make you look kind and compassionate or cold hearted in a cold way
An unsmiling face wearing dark glasses from across the street stare at me
I do feel as one in discomfort when a face with hidden eyes I do see.

Helen Wiped Her Glasses

Helen wiped
her thick lens glasses

with the hem
of her school dress

and you watched
her finger and thumb

move around the glass
in circular motion

Can you see much
without your glasses?

you asked
she looked up at you

and said
Not much

you for instance
are like a small tree

without leaves
with thin branches

hanging down
you smiled and saw

as she lifted the hem
a glimpse of thigh

white as one kept
out of sun and light

But what do I look like
with your glasses on?

you asked
looking at her face

and eyes that squinted
quite naked

without the specs
A boy who's cheeky

but often shy
especially around girls

and their blue eyes
and dark curls

and she giggled
and dropped

the hem of
her dress

and put her glasses on
and her eyes enlarged

and gazed at you
taking in

your unkempt hair
and school boy grin

and at that moment
as she stood stifling

her giggle with one
small hand

you sensed a love
you neither had before

nor could
in the light of day

and innocence of youth
quite understand.

Broken Glasses (2)

It's all broken glasses falling on the floor
Piece by piece breaking even more
One becoming two with each and every blow
A tree of glasses will never grow

Broken glasses on the floor
A million pieces becoming more
Each piece alone starts to shine
As though each one were becoming alive

A million pieces lie on the floor
Broken glasses broken to the core
They make me cry with their silence alone
As though they believe that all hope is gone
And the light that shines on the edge of a piece
Is like an un-witnessed tear of the pain unseen
As though when the pieces stop falling
All the glasses stop fighting
And chose to shine no more

Broken glasses falling on the floor
What can I say what have I more
Broken glasses I adore
Like a silent heart beat being ignored
Broken glasses are alive
Broken glasses are the life
Of a character broken deep inside

Peekabo, I Almost See You

Middle-aged life is merry, and I love to
lead it,
But there comes a day when your eyes
are all right but your arm isn't long
enough
to hold the telephone book where you can read it,
And your friends get jocular, so you go
to the oculist,
And of all your friends he is the joculist,
So over his facetiousness let us skim,
Only noting that he has been waiting for you ever since
you said Good evening to his grandfather clock under
the impression that it was him,
And you look at his chart and it says SHRDLU QWERTYOP,
and you say Well, why SHRDNTLU QWERTYOP? and he
says one set of glasses won't do.
You need two.
One for reading Erle Stanley Gardner's Perry Mason and
Keats's "Endymion" with,
And the other for walking around without saying Hello
to strange wymion with.
So you spend your time taking off your seeing glasses to put
on your reading glasses, and then remembering that your
reading glasses are upstairs or in the car,
And then you can't find your seeing glasses again because
without them on you can't see where they are.
Enough of such mishaps, they would try the patience of an
ox,
I prefer to forget both pairs of glasses and pass my declining
years saluting strange women and grandfather clocks.

Rose Coloured Glasses

(scott mccarl)
Im an ivory tower boy
Never quite put down the toys
I always think the best of them all
I see only sunny skies
With the wool over my eyes
I never seem to find the crack or the fault
I see it all through rose coloured glasses
And I only see what matters to me
I see you all through rose coloured classes, yeah
The road that I chose is coloured rose
Its a funny sort of haze
All full of dreams of yesterdays
And the dreams are so real you could cry
And you know the grass is green
On the side youve never seen
And the thought is what helps you get by
I see it all through rose coloured glasses
And I only see what matters to me
I see you all through rose coloured classes, yeah
The road that I chose is coloured rose
As I grow a little more
Wonder what this all is for
And the brass ring is slipping away
I would keep the glasses near
And would shed a quiet tear
And maybe smile inside as I say
I see it all through rose coloured glasses
And I only see what matters to me
I see you all through rose coloured classes, yeah
The road that I chose is coloured...

About a poem

You filled the glasses
Words into glasses glass made drops
Golden pots for a thunder-like
‘Drink’ of big silences

You filled the glasses
On the tables across the earth
Meanings laid walking on debris

You filled the glasses
Like hours into a sandclock
The sand upon which
You write up the names
Glass made drops
You write up the scars of a sip
Drunk you plough and keep ploughing
Over the dreams you spill

My Glasses That See Love

I go thru life with my eyes wide open
searching for that true love I'm craving to find,
only to see these rose-tinted glasses are
making my vision partiality blind.

Yet I do know what would be
in store,
I'd take the glasses off and no longer get the
chance to see
the beauty of romance that I've been waiting for,
the intensifying rose color,
as in a precious rose will always remains the core,
for it is the
lasting rose colored hue,
that by which makes all true love true.

Raise Your Glasses

I took a ride with a one-way ticket
I aimed my arrow at the mark & hit it
We all need to be somebody
Been broken down, but not defeated
I kept on punching back till I succeeded
We all need to be somebody, now
We stop at nothing, even climb barbed-wire
We struck a match & set the world on fire
& if we tried, we couldnt get much higher, now
Everyone around the world, raise your glasses, raise your glasses
Standing pround cause were the champions, raise your glasses, raise your glasses
We pushed it all, beyond the limit
We took our chances & we jumped right in it
Now I believe, in strength in numbers
Went into battle with a force of thunder
We all need to be somebody, now
I wanna shout it out with all my power
I wanna scream it from the highest tower
I want to celebrate our finest hour, now
Everyone around the world, raise your glasses, raise your glasses
Standing pround cause were the champions, raise your glasses, raise your glasses
We stop at nothing, even climb barbed-wire
We struck a match & set the world on fire
& if we tried, we couldnt get much higher, now
Oh, you gotta give it your all
Oh, you gotta know what youre after
And oh, well make it over the wall together
[solo]
I took a ride with a one way ticket
I shot my arrow at the mark & hit it
When all the others only talked, I did it
Kept pushing everything beyond the limit
You play the game, you gotta play to win it

Drink Yer Glasses Empty

Listen up and Ill tell you what youll do
Forget about music and alcohol to
Forget about yer baby, weve got other work for you
Better drink yer glasses empty now, its time to rise n shine
Theres one less cause in the world to be leavin for
It was back in 39 when I was one year old
Sitting by the backyard fence and the world had turned to cold
Drink yer glasses empty now was all that they were told
Drink yer glasses girls and boys, its time to hit the sky
To the tune of thunder, theres no time to wonder why
Wed love to take life over, that is plain
Forget about sorrow, forget about pain
And watch a john wayne movie to remind us once again
Better drink yer glasses empty now, its time to hit the line
You got one less cause in the world to be leavin for
Drink yer glasses girls and boys, its time to hit the sky
To the tune of thunder, theres a tear in every eye
Id like to take things one at a time
Forget about reason, forget about rhyme
Because beg, steal, or borrow you got another hill to climb
So drink yer glasses empty now, its time to hit the road
Theres one less cause in the world to be leavin for
Drink yer glasses girls and boys, its time to hit the sky
To the tune of thunder, theres no time to wonder why
Wed like to take life over again
When time of war had passed away into the rain
And watch a john wayne movie to remind us of the planes
Just drink yer glasses empty now, its time to rise n shine
Theres one less cause in the world to be leavin for

Who would be able to think?

I. Who would be able to think?

Who would be able to think
that your eyes as pretty
as stars shining in the heaven?
Who would be able to think
how restless my heart is beating,
that you are more beautiful than I had known before?
Who would be able to think
that your eyes are so pretty?

II. Who would be able to think?

Who would be able to think
that your eyes are prettier
than the sun hidden by banks of fog,
than the stars shining in heaven,
that the tears glittering on your cheeks
comes with a deep meaning?

Who would be able to think
that your eyes are prettier
than the glowing champagne which I am pouring
that the look in them would bring me to a confession
about feelings which hide in my heart like a lizard
while we touch glasses
and who would be able to think this?

III. Who would be able to think?

Who would be able to think
that your eyes are prettier than stars,
that you bring new meaning, to stars hanging in the sky

that your tears glowing against your cheeks
comes with a deep meaning?
Who would be able to think

while we touch glasses
that you are lovelier than I could comprehend before,
that you bring new meaning, to stars hanging in the sky

and when I pour sparkling champagne
the look in your eyes, could bring me to a confession?
Who would be able to think

how restless my heart is beating,
about feelings which hide in my heart like a lizard
that you bring new meaning, to stars hanging in the sky,

how deep I drown in the depths of your eyes
and that for a life long I have missed you?
Who would be able to think
that you bring new meaning, to stars hanging in the sky?

False Tales

I know not why the false tales stir trouble,
Like talk of fear, talk of hate and no such talk of love.
May spectacles splendidly arise for the better,
To words I have dedicated my tale or story.
The glasses I wear write eastern airs to the rain,
These rains are long and hard.

The list of words continues to speak
About a town or village in the full knowledge.
The disaster crests with laughter and nought will destroy,
Nothing is caring of you and this world of glasses.

American Gothic

If we see better through tiny,
grim glasses, we like to wear
tiny, grim glasses.
Our parents willed us this
view. It's tundra? We love it.

We travel our kind of
Renaissance: barnfuls of hay,
whole voyages of corn, and
a book that flickers its
halo in the parlor.

Poverty plus confidence equals
pioneers. We never doubted.

Halloween Quartet No 2 The Devils Specs

He picked up the glasses
from where they lay
and put them on
and as he looked around
his face paled with his shock.
Everything was desolate and dead.
Building stood black scorched beyond repair,
everything felt cold and dank
as if he were in a city of the dead.
The grass beneath his feet
was withered and brown.
Skeletal trees stood blackened
as if by some great fire.
The sights he saw frightened him.
He made a move to run
and tripped over a rotting corpse.
As he fell, the glasses
were tossed upon the ground.
As he rose his eyes widened,
everything was green again
and the glass were no were to be found.
Was this a vision of his future he had seen?
Only tomorrows knows.

A Girl With Glasses

I want to look in your eyes
Don't put off the glasses
The pearls are present
Originally under a transparent sea
And ask the men
Why the thin nightgown
Is more arousing at a romantic night than a naked beauty?
The red nightgown you wear on your eyes
Glorifies their magic.

Crystal Clear Blue Eyes

He’s always had
crystal clear
blue eyes;
I always thought
somehow they represented
the clarity of his character.
Youth now faded
along with hair; teeth,
perhaps a bit of the sharpness
of memory,
but
behind those eyes
there still lies
a genuine heart,
a man of strength,
honesty; good character.
Maybe it’s true after all,
that the eyes
are the window
of the soul.

Readings Of Sex

You may be irresistible
with those glasses,
your face, your nose, your cheeks, your neck!
all your fleshy parts
naked before me.
The diamond of your room reflecting from pains
and lenses.
Our glasses tangled
like two bodies wrapped by nori
like calypso oceans.
Without them you are blushing
and I am blurry.
I felt both kisses
on my neck
and said it before
long before
just with someone elses words.
