What shall we eat, ?
What shall we eat for breakfast, said the childrens mother,
What about pancakes and honey, but mum said its a bother;
The father came down, and he said, Id like a nice mixed grill,
But mum said cereal it is, cause I still can't cook I feel I'll.
What shall I have to eat, at lunch time today,
I might try a grill, or hamburger, but there's no way,
One is my money, the other is my weight,
If I eat too much, I'll get depressed, then I'll be in a state,
What do you want to eat, we re asked said the lady in the cafe,
Roast chicken and salad, then I'll try fruit souffle'.
My friend wanted a pizza, ravioli, and then gelati for sweet,
Yes! It's okay to eat what you like, but don't over eat.

Sunset Grill
Lets go down to the sunset grill
We can watch the working girls go by
Watch the basket people walk around and
Mumble
And stare out at the auburn sky
Theres an old man there from the old world
To him, its all the same
Calls all his customers by name
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
You see a lot more meanness in the city
Its the kind that tears you up inside
Hard to come away with anything that feels
Like dignity
Hard to get home with any pride
These days a man makes you somethin
And you never see his face
But there is no hiding place
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
Respectable little murders pay
They get more respectable every day
Dont worry girl, Im gonna stick by you
And someday soon were gonna get in that
Car and get outta here
Lets go down to the sunset grill
Watch the working girls go by
Watch the basket people walk around and
Mumble
And gaze out at the auburn sky
Maybe well leave come springtime
Meanwhile, have another beer
What would we do without these jerks
Anyway?
Besides, all our friends are here
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill
Down at the sunset grill

Juniors Grill
Mashed potatos, lima beans,
Redeye gravy, collard greens,
Cutest waitress youve ever seen,
Down at juniors grill.
Sweet ginger brings your plate,
Always hot and never late;
Top it off with a chocolate cake,
Down at juniors grill.
Its heaven with a corner booth,
Thats the truth;
Chrome and naugahyde;
Its cool inside.
The jukebox never stops,
Theres coffee in the pot,
So come and get your fill
At juniors grill.
Ginger takes her break at 10,
Lays aside her pad and pen,
Punches up stand by your man
Down at juniors grill.
I seen her dancing, she seen me look;
Oh lord, what a chance I took,
Cause gingers soft on that big ole cook
Down at juniors grill.
Its heaven with a corner booth, thats the truth;
Chrome and naugahyde; its cool inside.
The jukebox never stops, theres coffee in the pot,
So come and get your fill at juniors grill.
So come and get your fill at juniors grill.

Lonely Grill
Box speaker talkin out a tune
Two for one on a blue lagoon
Another lost and found
Bartender takes another pass
Puts the salt on the rim of another glass
And he sits it down
I know every color of every neon sign
Flashing out a heartache in the back of my mind
Down at the lonely grill
Got nothing but time to kill at the end of everyday
I sit in a corner booth and do nothing but think of you
And the love we threw away
And I guess I always will
Down at the lonely grill
Sad-eyed waitress called betty lynn
Got her order pad and her ball-point pen
Said whatll it be
I said a tall glass of cold regret
A full order of loneliness
Like every night this week
Ill shoulder my pride and I drank it down
Another smoke filled evening with no fire to be found
Down at the lonely grill
Got nothing but time to kill at the end of everyday
I sit in a corner booth and do nothing but think of you
And the love we threw away
And I guess I always will
Down at the lonely grill
Lonely grill
I sit in a corner booth
And do nothing but think of you
And the love we threw away
And I guess I always will
Down at the lonely grill
Lonely grill
Down at the lonely grill
Down at the lonely grill
Down at the lonely grill
At the lonely grill.

Step Father With No Legs
More about me with words so delicate
I live in the home with my step father
Why because he lost both his legs
Why because his income, is not enough to pay all the bills.
Why because I can't support two homes
Why because my mother can't work and take care of him
Most would shy away from what I'm doing
But I won't and I'm not afraid to say so
He nearly died twice with the last year
Hospital trips galore
This is just a taste of my world.
For if I don't who will
Neither of my sisters care
A sacrifice in ones own being and self of steam
The only time they will really be their is when things are to be claimed
It doesn't bother me,
I am not ashamed of who i am
I will give them what they want when the time comes
For I had chance to know him first hand
I built a computer for him with my bare hands.
I wanted him to see and feel the world
The internet does that rest assure.
He is excellent cook, he was an excellent carpenter.
He wants to write book.
Let me take the lead.
My step father let me show you how
Look and see.
How horrible life can be.
It can be mean and twist you.
To the point suicide, by an amputee
25 pills a day.
A bath room to small for the handicap.
We had too put in our own ramp.
So he could grill
Yeah this is real.

IN Gold We Trust
IN Gold we Must Trust
Eveything is about money
Money Honey Money
Eveything we can buy
Big nice house
Education and wonderful cars
Money is our loyal friend
when we need it
it never disappoint us
Honey Money
sweet like a fantasy
even people we buy with money
have the best medical treatments
judges and politicians
If i had a lot of Money
even if my face is sour
everyone will smile at me
Anyone will love me
and respect me
Nice women with money
Money bring a lot of money
even we can buy an airplane and fly alone
none bother us in everyday trafic
with money i don't have to get up early
i don't have to feel stress because of boss mood
with money i feel happy
but i regret didn't keep the love of money when i was child
i thought that there are things more important
i didn't have a damn clue about how they're precious and friendly
they are all we will get of good
the rest is ashes of happiness...illusions and fears

My Favourite Food
Here are some meals, which I really love to eat,
When, at the dinner table, I take my seat.
Lasagne served with a slice of garlic bread,
Is one of my real favourites, it has to be said.
Chunky chips and a tender gammon steak –
A really lovely meal for me, this would make.
Chilli con carne, served with pilau rice,
I also consider to be really rather nice.
A deep pan pizza, especially chicken supreme,
Is guaranteed to set my hungry eyes agleam.
Chicken of any kind, especially southern fried,
Is always a big hit with me, it can’t be denied.
Another of my favourites, is all-day brunch –
On this popular dish, I very often munch.
Britain’s favourite dish, bangers and mash,
I’m always extremely willing to give a bash.
Given lashings of sausage casserole,
I’m guaranteed to scrape my bowl.
I simply love a really good Indian curry,
And will gobble one up in quite a hurry.
The thought of a delicious mixed grill,
Always gives me such a real thrill.
And lovely, tender lamb chops,
For me, are pretty hard to top.
But, cooked to perfection, a Sunday roast,
Is the meal that I really love the most!
So, now here’s a selection of puds,
Which I consider to really rather good.
All of these are lovely and sweet,
And always go down an absolute treat!
At the offer of any fruit crumble,
You will never hear me grumble.
In a slice of gooey, chocolate fudge cake,
I’m always more than happy to partake.
And luscious, creamy tiramisu,
Is one of my favourites to.
A scoop of any flavour of ice cream,
Always goes down an absolute dream.
Offered a bowl of thick, creamy rice,
I wouldn’t need to be asked twice.
Of puddings with lashings of jam,
I’ve always been a particular fan.
At the sight of a fresh strawberry trifle,
My excitement, I have to try and stifle.
A slice of lemon meringue pie,
You will never see me pass by.
I adore hot, sticky, gooey, treacle tart,
It’s a pud which always warms my heart.
Chocolate, cream filled, profiteroles,
Are always guaranteed to fill a hole.
A toffee nut sundae, served in a tall glass,
Is a sweet which I consider to be pure class.
A pastry pie, with any fresh fruit filling,
For me, has always been rather thrilling.
If I was served up any of these, I’d be thrilled,
Even if I was sat right in the middle of a field!

Christina and You and Home for Lunch
As you went by
the girl's playground
after getting off
the school bus
Christina called to you
through the wire fence
and said
my mother said
you can come home
for lunch today
if you like
ok
you said
where shall I meet you?
Cedric will bring you along
she said
and so when
the lunch time
recess bell rang
you followed Cedric
out of the school
and saw Christina
by the outer fence waiting
are you sure
your mother doesn't mind?
you asked
of course not
she said
Cedric walked on in front
leaving you and Christiana
to walk on behind
she talked about some girl
in her class who had a boyfriend
and claimed
to have had sex
and then she went on
about the teacher
who had been expelled
for taking pupils home
in his lunch hour
it was boys though
she added
and then you came
to her house
and she took you in
and there was her mother
in the kitchen
nice to meet you
she said
Christina has talked
about you so much
Cedric behind
his mother's back
was making gagging gestures
with his fingers
down his throat
Christina looked at you
and smiled
nice to be here
you said
are you sure it's all right
me coming?
of course it is
Christina's mother said
now sit down
and I'll serve up for us all
and so you all sat down
around the table
and Cedric looked at you
then looked down
at his knife and fork
and Christina said
glad you're here
and she put a hand
over yours
and gave your hand
a squeeze
then removed it
when her mother
set down the plates
and then sat down herself
and you all began to eat
in an unusual silence
Christina giving you
a bright eyed stare
and Cedric looking
over your shoulder
as if you weren't there
after lunch their mother
cleared the table
of plates and went off
and Cedric went
into the lounge
leaving you and Christina alone
what do you think?
she asked
about what?
you asked
my mother
what do you think of her?
she seems nice
you said
she gets depressed a lot
Christina said
but today
she was at her best
oh right
you said
sorry she gets depressed
come on
Christina said
I'll show you my room
you raised your eyebrows
won't your mother mind?
you asked
not if she doesn't know
Christina replied
isn't it a bit risky?
you said
yes
she said
that's what makes life
so interesting
so you followed her
and tiptoed up the stairs
and she showed you
her bedroom
and her favourite doll
and other favourites of hers
lined along her bed
then she kissed you quickly
and then stood back
and smiled and said
best go down now
or she'll wonder
where we are
and so that was it
and as you followed her
down the stairs
you could hear the radio
playing some classical music
and her mother
humming along
and sounding quite happy
and Christina giving you
another kiss
behind her mother's back
and after saying thank you
to her mother
you all left
to return to school
the clouds promising rain
and so back to school
and the boring lessons
once again.

Saturday Night in Dill City
We had a night I’d like to tell about
Consisting of an extraordinary meal
The food was simply delicious
With a down-home country feel
The place in which I ordered my food
It was one it’d never have expected
It was at the Fire Extinguisher
I was not even really directed
The food was oh, so scrumptious
Hamburger steak cooked on the grill
Caramelized onions plopped on top
I can taste that flavor still
Crispy fries and freshly made salad
With dressing fit for a king
Perfect for a party
Or out for a Saturday night fling
Yes, we had a wonderful time
If we hadn’t it would have been a pity
But we did find this restaurant on
Saturday night in Dill City

An Old Maid's Birthday
my friend from the mountains
of Tabon celebrates her birthday tomorrow
and i sent her my advance greetings
she says she has no money
and she has no man
and she is sick
and she is tired
and she is depressed.
and i tell her
please come to our house
catch the chicken
and cook it
and put some blood on your forehead
so that the bad luck
may transfer to the chicken
as a matter of belief
she refuses the celebration
i guess
what is she as an old maid for?
i guess the word is
hopelessness.

Leaving
Tears on flushed cheeks,
stomping on the floor!
Her little hands are clenched as fists
her eyes are looking sore.
Mother's making sandwiches,
adds delicious filling
little blobs of salad cream,
these are really winning.
"So your going, " mother says,
"Have you any money?
I've made a lovely lunch
there's cake with fruit and honey"
Little girl is silent
takes the sandwiches
then goes out the front way,
still with rolling tears.
Sitting on the front step
she eats her picnic there
with teardrops in her eyes
and dirty fingernails,
then creeps around the back,
waits by the back door
asks mum very sheepishly,
"is there anymore? "
"You'd better come back in
and dry those weepy eyes,
there's fish and chips for supper
and the pudding will be nice."

I Wish Lunch Could Last Forever
I wish lunch could last forever
By: jimmy buffett, jay oliver
1989
The place down the block, the one with no clock
Covert rendez-vous with you at the usual time
I savor the scent of the fish on the grill
Lifes so spicy up on bar-b-q hill
Looking good, you look so fine
Waiter bring us one more bottle of wine
Chorus:
I wish lunch could last forever
Make the whole day on big afternoon
Well begin with dessert a little coconut tart
Tastes as sweet as a piece of your heart
Cafe au lait beneath the paris moon
Dont hide your eyes just wear your disguise
Brazils in the air I swear it feels like mardi gras time
I savor the scent love that annick goutal
As we walk in time to the cathedral bells
Chorus:
I wish lunch could last forever
Make the whole day on big afternoon
Well begin with dessert a little coconut tart
Tastes as sweet as a piece of your heart
Cafe au lait beneath the paris moon
Oh yeah, uh huh, ooooh...
I wish love could last forever
Make the whole day a first time love affair
Well begin with a kiss, such a warm place to start
Let me into your life let me into your heart
Mea culpa mea culpa carnivals in the air
Well begin with a kiss, such a warm place to start
Let me into your life let me into your heart
I wish, I wish that lunch could last forever
Oh yeah, uh huh, oh, oh...
-- spoken:
Tout la jour, mademoiselle [ everyday, mademoiselle ]
Dejeuner tout la jour [ lunch every day ]
Ah oui, une boutelle de vin blanc [ ah yes, a bottle of white wine ]
Un dessert? cest necessaire [ a dessert? its necessary ... ]
Tres necessaire [ ...very necessary ]

The Old Woman and Today
She awoke early with a pep today
A glimmer in her eye and strong step today
She thought of a menu that would bring a smile today
as she thought of her husband so lovingly today
She cracked the eggs and placed them in the pan today
Se buttered his toast and peeled his fruit today
She poured his glass so full today
She placed the flowers n her favorite vase today
She slowly sat down at the table today
the realization hit her like a cement truck today
She lowered her eyes as she thought of the day
You see, the old man had long been dead by today
The disease of old persons made her forget today
Made her cook breakfast for three today
When I entered the room, I asked her sadly, 'What's wrong today? '
She said, 'I'll greive just the same as I did that day
because my soulmate just died again today.'

Making Breakfast - a study in consciousness
Breakfast. Slick operation. You could
make it in your sleep..
you’ve refined the quantities,
the cooking and the timing
like a pro..
and eating it – you’re even more
brilliant at that – you can
eat breakfast, read the paper,
listen to the radio or tv,
half listen to the wife and kids,
make and take those cellphone calls;
then bestow a salty bacon,
sweet marmaladey kiss on several lips
or cheeks – and off..
But today something gotten to you:
the sun is shining; all’s well with the world;
this isn’t Monday breakfast, this is
Saturday breakfast…
You find yourself making breakfast
as if you’d never made it in your life before;
you hear the cereal on its way
from the packet to the bowl;
smell the coffee before drinking it;
never has the toast been browner, crisper,
eggs more eggy, tomatoes so.. well, tomatoey;
sweet meeting salt in tasting mouth..
the world’s made new today; and
somehow, you feel as if
you know that much more about yourself;
some sure sense of direction
seems to fill your heart and mind;
you’re on good terms with
the Creation as of now.

On The Outside
At home alone - kids visiting
you asleep, Carine called, she
can walk without crutches, her
leg is healed; wish it could be
the same for her broken heart
It will take two full years at least
she says she can never forget
she still laments her mother's
death eight years ago, yet -
time heals every injury
Patience will prove the adage
true; she shall be independent
even if she thinks the memory
of her friend's death will never
be erased from her mind
Everything keeps improving
step by little step; thank you
Carine, the image of you
healthy again makes me
ecstatically happy
Even if I am only on the out-
side - as stepmother of
course…
Calm and Well (Revised)
As a child I hated the life I was born into,
detested humanity, averse to everything about
my overexcited brain in a family where the misery
of nervous tension was normality - no-one ever
calmed down - led to multiple allergies
The body changes when a new personality asserts;
as a child I inadvertently programmed myself to
think of mealtimes and food as the worst possible
experience in my life, mind in overdrive as
family interaction drove me nearly insane
Today I can't eat breakfast unless the allergic
reaction food triggers is mollified by migraine
medication - if I eat something wholesome to
stabilise blood sugar, unbearable depression
and pain reduces me to a zombie state
I am Marvin the Paranoid Android, a state
so unnatural doctors and dieticians cannot
rectify it, I live a precarious balance between
excessive pain and being comfortable as a
submissive human being
I marvel at the Dog Whisperer - my psyche is an
anxious, uncalmable dog unable to live in the now,
maybe my brain is that of a canine who needs the
right discipline - if only I knew how to provide it
in order to feel calm and well permanently
[When I eat whole-wheat breakfast cereal my eyes go out of focus,
electricity dance in leaping flames in my head and I become too
depressed to pick up my pen - or anything else. When I eat other
things like fatty bacon and eggs or chicken mayonnaise, a migraine
pill relieves the distress and I do not become so depressed - simply
put on weight at an alarming rate, nearly choking myself with the
growing girth around my midriff - and eating nothing is not possible
as hunger and light-headedness make working and concentration
impossible. I am still trying to reprogram my mind to reprogram my
body to secrete different chemicals in different amounts, convinced
that life as a calm, stable, submissive canine type would be much
easier without the horrific allergy symptoms. My diary notes
explain all this.]

Dancing At The Rainbow Grill
Downtown in front of a renowned, teenage hangout,
Every weekend evening we formed a jovial group,
Boys and girls together would converse and frolic
While a jukebox played popular music on a stoop,
On the dance floor of the Rainbow Grill.
There is where Henry Shane and littleJoey Quinn,
With Nicky Walker, a comedian, who stole the show,
The robust Charlie Wagner, with a petite, pretty girl
First picked up the footwork for the rock and roll
On the dance floor of the Rainbow Grill.
Round and round the dance floor the couples twirled,
As the jukebox played ' The Twist' or 'Blueberry Hill',
Boys and girls together, versatile and lightfooted,
The body motion and musical tempo created a thrill
On the dance floor of the Rainbow Grill.
Times have changed since those memorable evenings,
The group has gone afar now, but they must feel like me,
They would cherish a moment once more to freely dance
With their favorite dancer just like it use to be
On the dance floor of the Rainbow Grill.

Obsession
Obsession
The pianist Albert has got a job in Loulé last time
I saw him in Faro and fell over a pollard, he said
he was not my father. When he spotted me he ran
into a café, they let him run through the kitchen
into the back, a dead end; I waited for him there.
“If you don´t stop following me I will have to call
the police, I´M NOT YOUR FATHER.” To mollify
him I said: “ I know you are not, but I do admire
your piano playing. ”This pleased him and we had
a drink and he told me he came from Yugoslavia,
had wanted to be a concert pianist, but there was
no money, so he ended up as a café pianist… just
as my father I thought but said nothing… then he
had to leave for work, saw him walk out of my life
just as my father did, there was nothing I could do
to stop this man who refused to be my dad.

Money Honey
Well the landlord rang my front door bell
He let it ring for a long, long spell
Went to the window, peeked through the blind
Asked him to tell me what was on his mind
An' he said:
Money honey
Money honey
Money honey
If you want to stay up here with me.
I was screamin' green an so hard pressed
I called the woman that I love the best
Finally found my baby 'bout a quarter to three
She said "I wanna know what you want with me"
An I said:
Money honey (Just a little bit)
Money honey
Money honey
If you wanna git along with me.
Well she screamed and said
"What's wrong with you?
From this day on our romance is through."
I should tell my baby, face to face
How could another man take my place?
An she said:
Money honey (lots and lots of that)
Money honey (you got to give me some)
Money honey
If you wanna git along with me.
I learned my lesson and now I know
Sun may shine and the wind may blow
Women come and women may go
But before I'll tell em that I love em so.
I want
Money honey (Do you have some?)
Money honey
Money honey
If you wanna get along with me
Money honey, (Give me)
Money honey, (I need some)
Money honey, if you wanna get along with me.

Money Honey
(words & music by j. stone)
You know, the landlord rang my front door bell.
I let it ring for a long, long spell.
I went to the window,
I peeped through the blind,
And asked him to tell me whats on his mind.
He said,
Money, honey.
Money, honey.
Money, honey, if you want to get along with me.
Well, I screamed and I hollered,
I was so hard-pressed.
I called the woman that I loved the best.
I finally got my baby about half past three,
She said Id like to know what you want with me.
I said,
Money, honey.
Money, honey.
Money, honey,
If you want to get along with me.
Well, I said tell me baby, whats wrong with you?
From this day on our romance is through
I said, tell me baby, face to face
How could another man take my place?
She said,
Money, honey.
Money, honey.
Money, honey,
If you want to get a long with me.
Well, Ive learned my lesson and now I know
The sun may shine and the winds may blow.
The women may come and the women may go,
