The Quiet Path
Friday afternoon fatigue, chocolate
counterpoint against chips and tea,
an undercover spy posing as a kind
saleslady refuses me a Russian roll
I end up eating a cheese-steak pie
No longer able to make my way on
the quiet path between Soul Music
& an article on the square kilometre
telescope array - warning the poor
might just steal radio antenna sets
Since government invests in street
name changes only, Pretoria to be-
come Tshwane which rhymes with
Polokwane; being concerned with
petty things the telescope seems
A bit of an overkill for a populace
struggling with life on earth - - no
sympathy for astronomy's grand
ideal of mapping heaven the last
frontier - mine is to get home
In one piece…

My Telescope
my hearts beating
noticably without warning
racing this tune
writing a poem
stuck in the underworld
forever starless night
light abandoned me
then I saw the stars in your eyes
you pulled me out
like a lifeguard
giving me back breath
awakening my soul
Now I see
A myriad of stars
I look up
I see you
Flashing and blinking
Your shooting
Across the night sky
In through
My telescope
My telescope
The universe
Has never looked so grand
In all my years now
Possibility floods in
Like molten lava
You branded me a new name
Now I see
A myriad of stars
I look up
I see you
Flashing and blinking
Your shooting
Across the night sky
In through
My telescope

I Love Chocolate
I love chocolate, oh yes I do.
Eating chocolate is a must too.
I love chocolate, how about you?
They say dark chocolate is now good for you too.
I would eat chocolate while watching Mr. Magoo.
I would eat chocolate instead of dodo.
I like a good chocolate candy bar.
I would even eat chocolate from a jar.
I want to eat chocolate all day long.
Eating too much chocolate may be wrong.
They need to write about chocolate in a song.
Some people eat chocolate just to belong.
I would even eat chocolate in my Froot Loops
I would even eat chocolate with a big group.

Let It All Be Music
Music is a mirror
Near around my soul
Music is the spirit
Come on let it roll
Music is my nature
People have you heard
Music is my future
Music is the world
Let it all be music
People sing a song
Let it all be music
Let us sing it on and on and on and on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on and on and on
Music isnt somewhere
Music turns you right
Music is a fever
Leads you day and night
Music is like heaven
Where you wanna be
Music is religion
Music sets you free
Let it all be music
People sing a song
Let it all be music
Let us sing it on and on and on and on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on and on and on
Music is tomorrow
Music is today
Music is forever
Music is the way
Music is for women
Music is for men
Music is for children
Sing it all again
Let it all be music
People sing a song
Let it all be music
Let us sing it on and on and on and on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on
Lets play the music
My kind of music
Lets play the music
Play it on and on and on
I can feel it, in my soul
I can feel it, in my heart
Sweet sweet sweet music
Music
Sweet sweet sweet music
Sweet music
Play it on
Play it on
My my my my my kind of music
Play it
Play the music
My my my my my kind of music
Play it

Sonnet: Our Earthly Love Ain’t Divine
Let not our minds with unknown fears be filled;
Let not our hearts seek love that never fails;
Let not our endeavors be ever killed,
Till soul sinfree and Heavenwards, sets sails.
All things, we seek on earth are transient;
All things we leave back here after our death;
Our soul's return, He seeks, Omniscient;
Yet, only after our one, earthly birth.
The love on earth is not the ultimate;
The love of Heaven is always ideal;
We leave behind, joy, sorrow, love and hate;
The love of God, God's love are ones real.
On earth, we can't see love that is divine;
No vine-yard's press can make us Heaven's wine.

Chocolate Milk, Chocolate Syrup, Chocolate Cup
chocolate milk, chocolate syrup, chocolate cup
when im putting in chocolate syrup i put too much
i wish i had a chocolate pup in a chocolate cup
in a chocolate world!
but that would be alot to eat
for just one little girl!
if chocolate was a talent
Id be the chocolate master!
chocolate storms and tornadoes are natural chocolate disasters!
there would be chocolate houses and chocolate apartments and chocolate hotels for rent!
People eating chocolate all day without paying a single cent!
All their money would be in chocolate banks w chocolate robbers
Chocolate dinners like chocolate spaghetti and chocolate covered lobsters!
Chocolate chocolate chocolate BOOO!

Can’t Sleep
I couldn’t sleep at Big Bear Lake,
I ate a cheese steak and a chocolate cake,
boy that was a big mistake.
I kept tossing and turning in bed all night,
until the sun came out and was really bright.
I knew the next I would be on stage in front
of a hundred or more,
I didn’t know what was in store.
Would my act be too kiddy for the comic bunch,
I usually performed in front of kids before lunch.
The act did get some laughs and photos were shot,
of me and Melodie on stage where it was hot.
Hot with lights shining down on us,
we both story told a tale without a fuss.
Now I wrote this poem which I thought would be short and sweet,
it was a fun and interesting time at Big Bear Lake
I just can’t have cheese steak and chocolate cake.

Rock 'N Roll Soul (Live)
Rock & Roll Soul
Grand Funk Railroad
We're having a party, yeah, yeah, everybody's invited,
The new generation along with the old.
If you could get with it just a little more, it don't take much tryin',
You'll find out if you've got some rock & roll soul, baby.
Ain't everybody in the world. So when you know what you got, let everybody know,
You got some rock & roll soul.
So when you know what you got, let everybody know,
You got some rock & roll soul.
I know it when I'm feelin' groovy,
It's kind of funky like an old-time movie.
I can feel it and it's really something,
It's really something when my heart starts pumpin', yeah.
Tell everybody you know, you got some rock 'n roll soul.
Tell everybody you know, you got some rock 'n roll soul.
Tell everybody you know, you got some rock 'n roll soul.
Tell everybody you know, you got some rock 'n roll soul.
Tell everybody you know, you got some rock 'n roll soul.
Tell everybody you know, you got some rock 'n roll soul.
Tell everybody you know, you got some rock 'n roll soul.

Progress Report
My need has frayed with time; you said it would.
It has; I can walk again across the flood
Of gold sil popples on the straw-gold hills
Under a deep Californian sky that expels
All truant clouds; watch squads of cattle graze
By the radio-telescope; blue-battered jays
Flash raucous squaking by my swivelling head
While squirrels sine-wave past over the dead
Oak-leaves, and not miss you_although I may
Admit that near the telescope yesterday
By a small bushcovered gully I blundered on
Five golden fox-cubs playing in the sun
And wished you had been there to see them play;
But that I only mention by the way.

Astronomy
The middle lane has trapped my car
In red-light claustrophobia.
I slip the shackles, cut the rope ---
Stand naked with a telescope
As the cat walks alone
Under a big sky.
Against the dark so thin and white ---
Gonna be a big sky night.
Miss galileo, come with me
And view the new astronomy.
Black hole dressing on salad plate ---
Quasar at the kissing gate.
Now the cat, he walks alone
Under a big sky.
Umbrella dome pin-pricked in lights ---
Gonna be a big sky night.
My spectacles, my white lab coat ---
My coffee, thermos and my notes.
I pat my pockets. I got the keys
To the secrets of the observatory.
And closing the door,
I feel a new dawn
As the darker slides align ---
You to yours and me to mine.
And now you stand, assisting me ---
I can touch what I can see, see, see.
I look in wonder, I feel no shame ---
See the consequences of the game.
Expand the universe.
Head for the big bang.
Reach for my switch and shout ---
Gonna turn the big sky out.
Theres got to be astronomy.
Astronomy.

Bunbury Afternoon
England in the summer is a pretty sight
Flowers in the meadow in the morning light
You know , satisfy the song inside
And the dream is making you care , evrybody smiles
And the dream is taking you there
Theres a little bit of heaven on the village green
And the bunbury eleven that you never see
And they take all comers in the month of june
On a friday , saturday , sunbury afternoon
On a friday , saturday , bunbury afternoon
On a friday , saturday , bunbury afternoon
They all say it couldnt be real
Shakin their head in wonder
Makin it long drive home
And when the sun and the moment is gone
Breakin that spell were under
We played a part in the heart of a beautiful memory
Theres a baby in a cradle and a wise old man
Young lovers happy to be hand in hand
Evrybody finds their way
They will learn the secret in time
Theres a ring on her finger
And a love that shows
And the bunbury eleven say the rumor goes
They re married in the church in the month of june
On a friday , saturday , sunbury afternoon
On a friday , saturday , bunbury afternoon
On a friday , saturday , bunbury afternoon
Theres a wind in the willows
When the day is done
People disappearing in the golden sun
You know , evrybody smiles
Theres a little bit of heaven on ....

Silence
The Time of rhymes,
Is past and gone,
Of joy and songs divine
Now sadness sets into my path,
And life's no longer mine,
The silent tears flow endlessly,
The rivers of my past,
And silently, I move away,
'Forever', did not last.

She Is
Monday, April 7,2008
She’s the minerals that flows from a mountain
She’s the staff of life so I shall drink from your fountain
Now how could I ever ask for more?
She’s the one that I’ve been waiting for
No more going out I need not look no more
My world is now fulfilled my Mon Chéri amour
She’s like a dream come true for I don’t need any other
She’s the one I’ll love forever
She chased my clouds away
She turns the night to day
For all the things she can do
I’m going to spend my life with you
As the world turns all I see is you
I hope you also see me the same way too
From her love I don’t want to be saved
For her love is what I’ve always craved
Your love’s an ocean and I’m a drowning man
No one can save me so please leave me as I am
Please don’t send for me a rescue boat
Her love will always keep me a float
She sets my soul on fire
Her love lifts me higher and higher
She is the wind, the soil, even the very air I respire
She’s princes and queen, the woman of my desire
For her I’ve been waiting to exhale
She puts the wind back in my sail
I think of you every day
I think of you in every way
I think of you upon the hour
I think of you my precious flower
I think of you my mother earth
For no price could value what you’re worth
She is always on my mine
For she’s my rays of sunshine
A priceless find to discover
I will be with you forever
For every dropp of rain that falls
You will hear love’s serenading calls
I think of you and the music we can make
I think of you and a nuptial cake
She’s the sun that greets the day
She’s the warmth that comforts me as I lay
To me she’s a beautiful sight
She’s like the moon that gleams at night
She gives me more every day
And I do hope she feels the same way
For her I would fly on one wing
She can make the angels sing
She gives me strength to carry on
And with me she’s never alone
She brings me joy and peace of mind
She is one of a kind
She’s a Godsend and she’s all mine
I could never leave her behind
She gives me my inspiration
She is the way to my salvation
I look forward to wake and she’s there to great me
When I go to sleep she’s the last thing that I see
She’s my life, my world without end
She’s a mother, a lover, and my best friend
She brings me joy and piece of mind
She’s truly one of a kind
She can make everything right she’s what I believe in
And when things go wrong she’s positively thinking
When she’s not happy the Sun refuses to shine
The stars will not shine until she’s feeling fine
I am she and she is I
She is for she is until the day we die

Stranger On A Quiet Street
When all the thrills have been forgotten
The chill of night can call them home
And all the dreams that you left stranded
Will slowly start to come along
I felt it as she slipped away, slipped away
I didnt have the words to say
When I saw the stranger
A stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
You can go straight as an arrow
You can go straight as you dare
Walkin the old straight and narrow
Dont always get you there
The sun was shining when I saw it all
She was moving to a different beat
When I met a stranger
A stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
It came to me out of the blue, out of the blue
There came the moment that I really knew
When I met a stranger
A stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street, on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street

Chocolate Festival
There is nothing that is better
Than an array of chocolate treats
Delicious more than anything
So creamy, soft and sweet
Dark or light we have it all
Molded into ducks and little pigs
Some are rather small and delicate
And some are amazingly big
Of course the bigger the pieces
The more you get to eat
Just fill your plate, folks
Then go and grab a seat
There is music playing
Bluegrass is the sound
Enjoy this chocolate festival
It’s the best for miles around
So if you want to celebrate
The chocolate holiday
Grab your coats and meet us
For this huge chocolate array!

Piece Of Cake
Come running. go for overkill.
If you dont come now, Ill be over the hill, all right?
Tell me, ''all right.
Got a sell-by date. soon be out of stock.
Pop me in your trolley you can start my clock. well, all right?
Tell me, ''all right.
I could be on your shelf, could be the risk you take.
Im a cup of hot coffee, Im a piece of cake.
Im the hot chicken in your superstore.
You can take me home if you can take some more, well, all right?
Tell me, ''all right.
I could be on your shelf, could be the bread you bake.
I can fill your larder, Im a piece of cake.
Show me rosemary, Ill show her wild thyme.
See you at the checkout or on the credit line. well, all right?
Tell me, ''all right.
Im your spicy filling, Im your low-fat spread.
Ill be your smooth rubber, be your pencil lead, all right?
Tell me, ''all right.
If you set me to simmer, if you grill my steak--
You can bowl me over, Im a piece of cake.

Home Life
I think I'm gonna stay home
Have myself a home life
Sitting in the slow-mo
And listening to the daylight
I am not a nomad
I am not a rocket man
I was born a housecat
By the slight of my mother's hand
I think I'm gonna s tay home
I want to live in the center of a circle
I want to live on the side of a square
I used to be in my M-Z now
You'll never find me cause my name isn't there
Home life
Been holding out for the home life
My whole life
I want to see the end game
I want to learn her last name
Finish on a Friday
And sit in traffic on the highway
See, I refuse to believe
That my life's gonna be
Just some string of incompletes
Never to lead me to anything remotely close to a home life
Been holding out for the home life
My whole life
I can tell you this much
I will marry just once
And if it doesn't work
Giver her half of my stuff
It's fine with me
We said eternity
And I will go to my grave
With just the life that I gave
Not just some melody line
On a radio wave
It dissipates
And soon evaporates
But home live doesn't change
I want to live in the center of a circle
I want to live on the side of a square
I'd love to walk to where we both can talk but
I've got to leave you cause my ride is here
Home life
You keep the home life
You take the home life
I'll come back for the home life
I promise

Love Street
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Ohh...ho...
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Ohh...ho...
It seems we've lost our touch
Used to be so in love, yeah, uh
But somehow we've gotten off-track
And we never really got it back, no, yeah
I think we better find a way, yeah
And get right back to them good old days, good old days
Wanna make it to Heaven's gate, yeah (oh)
And we need to escalate, I need
I need direction (whoo, I need direction)
To that street called love (to that street called love, yeah)
Lead me to that road (trying to get home, yeah)
Trying to get home (oh take me to love street, yeah)
Now life is gone and skipped a beat
Tell me where are all the dancing feet? Yeah
Boy I tell you there's always something going wrong
Tell me why can't we all just get along
Keep struggling (yeah) just to get by, oh (oh yeah)
So many hills, mountains to climb, yeah
We should all be ashamed of ourselves
'Cause if we don't love ourselves
Tell me how can we love somebody else?
I need direction (whoo, we need direction)
To that street called love (to that street called love yeah)
Lead me to that road (I'm trying to get home)
Trying to get home (come on and take me to love street)
Easter Sunday morning (yeah)
We weredressed up (yeah)
Ready to go and have some... Church
(And I remember feeling so joyful)
Whether East side or the West side
Or the North side or the South side
You were at... Church
(So tell me what is all this fighting for?)
So what is all this pouting about? (and whoa)
What is all this hating about? (whoa)
(We have got to figure out how to get right back to love street)
I need directions (we need direction, whoa)
To that street called love (to that street called love, yeah)
Lead me to that road (trying to get home)
Trying to get home (would you take me straight to love street, yeah)
I need directions (I need some direction yeah) (ohh)
To that street called love (yes I do, yes I do) (yes I do, yeah)
Lead me to that road (please let me lead me to that road) (yeah)
Trying to get home
Heard somebody say (Toot-toot, beep-beep)
Heard somebody say (Tell me how to get to love street) yeah
Heard somebody say (Toot-toot, beep-beep) yeah
Heard somebody say, yeah (Tell me how to get to love street) yeah
Here we go, here we go, here we go
You make a right on L
Make a left on O
Come to a green light
And that's when you can go (whoa)
You keep straight on V
Until you come to E
That's when you see a big sign that says
Welcome to Love Street
I need direction (welcome to my street sign)
To that street called love (yeah, yeah) (welcome) (yeah, yeah, whoo)
Lead me to that road (lead me to that road yeah)
Trying to get home (oh yeah) (oh ho...)
(Tell me how to get to love street)
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, yeah, ohh...
(Tell me how to get to love street)

Six o’clock on a Friday morning
It’s six o’clock on a Friday morning
and I wait for my bus
and across the street,
the lights are burning cheerful and yellow
in the square and dome shaped windows
of the state library
and I wonder what documents are kept there
Street hawkers sell newspapers and sweets
in front of the Pretoria News,
while passengers are already
catching busses in rows.
There’s an icy chill
that hangs in the morning dawn light
and there’s a skew pointed obelisk
that is in front of the high court chambers
and a newspaper heading
talks about the recession
that is blowing hot and cold,
but it’s freezing
and the cold even eats
right through my leader jacket.
On the east side of Vermeulen Street
the sky becomes a light yellow,
while the blue of the heaven
folds open all over the rest
and streetlights stand in a long row
up the street past traffic lights.
Schoolgirls dressed in blue
are watching school boys with red jerseys
and young women
stand and shake
from the cold and I wonder,
how the old red delivery bicycle
behind the pillar
are not getting stolen
where it stands every morning on its place.
There’s a street sign that points to the Pierneef museum
into the L te Groen Eureka factory building,
but it’s still too early
to go and look at paintings
and I wonder how
the Pierneef paintings inside looks.
On the side of a building
I am amazed at the Tswane sign,
but this big city
will always stay Pretoria for me
and I wonder how people
can build buildings so pressed into each other
and look at old and new buildings
standing rowed in onto each other
and the bus stays away,
while others come and go
and I wait
a while longer in the cold.

Bad Boys
(coverdale/sykes)
I know you, you know me
Im the black sheep of the family,
Im in an out of trouble
Im the talk of the town
I get wild in the street
When the sun goes down
I steal around, like a thief in the night
Dancing til the break of day
Bad boys,
Running undercover of moonlight
Bad, bad boys,
Getting wild in the street,
Wild in the city
I see you, you see me
Just a black street boy in society
With high-heeled women full of champagne an lies,
Getting wild in the street
til the hot sunrise
Stealing round like a thief in the night
Dancing til the break of day
Bad boys,
Running undercover of moonlight
Bad, bad boys,
Getting wild in the street,
Wild in the city,
Wild in the city,
Wild in the city
Bad, bad boys,
Running undercover of moonlight
Bad, bad boys,
Getting wild in the street,
Wild in the city
I know you, you know me
Im the black sheep of the family,
Im in an out of trouble
Im the talk of the town
I get wild in the street
When the sun goes down
I dont care what the people think,
I cant hear what the people say,
I steal around like a thief in the night
Dancing til the break of day
Bad, bad boys,
Running undercover of moonlight
Bad, bad boys,
Getting wild in the street,
Bad, bad, bad boys,
Running undercover of moonlight
Bad, bad boys,
Getting wild in the street,
Wild in the city
Undercover of moonlight...
