Magnificent Obsession [REVISED]
Chapter Twelve – aspire to some magnificent obsession
greater than yourself – be determined, commit to
big dreams and ideals
sideline the mundane for a grand target effective in
its overall permanence, no trifling, petty frivolities or
meaningless chatter, only a good sense of humour
obsolete or redundant tomorrows lack worthwhileness*,
will not leave marks or footholds for others to build upon
we must set new discovery benchmarks for others
in science, the Arts, industry, stepping stone challenges for
future generations, like Mozart, Anna Pavlova, Sister Theresa,
Anne Franck, Helen Keller, Jane Austen, Newton and Einstein –
created permanence in their fields, a magnificent obsession
with global impact benefiting people in believable and practical
form, giving power and drive to create and pursue lifes goals
using strong principles: do unto others, respect self and all
others, forgive unconditionally as protection against
arrogance and corrupting influences of power
magnificent obsessions keep us strong in hopelessness,
focused with spirits raised when crushed and directionless,
motivated to realize our dreams…

In A Safe Place (Revised)
Return to quiet, empty room glowers contagiously
filled it with flowers and laughed at Tiaan’s absurdly
outrageous satire; he says losing a patient to care
for becomes the greater shock, I regret mistakes
made giving guidance to help Carine to heal
Began reading ‘How To Be Motivated All The Time’
where Peter Daniels explains the importance of
setting long-term goals; at the moment I am numb,
cannot take in a subject like this, motivation gone,
I feel oh so tired
My one chance to make a difference in someone’s life
is ended and I cannot say whether my efforts aided
rehabilitation, I miss her presence bringing extra life
and sound, an ambiance that made vibrant
expectations shimmer
Though I know it is time for the patient to tackle
life on her own my heart cries that it is not right,
she is not ready yet, while my mind says she will
never be ready if she stays comfortably
in a safe place forever…

Life Without Melody
Magnificent obsession or not, when I lose
interest I am bored without a light-hearted
fixation on a fun-filled object, when in need
of adrenaline and excitement, when sitting
still becomes impossible yet I do not have
energy for active displacement, motivation
is lost, cannot focus on a boring document
required by Interpol to find a stolen vehicle
I sigh, I need to control my diet and life if I
want to indulge in magnificent obsessions,
I always prefer fantasy dreams to fantastic
thinking with principles, strict programs and
goals, after eating breakfast and sending my
intolerant body into chemical orbit, I cannot
continue to concentrate on nothingness, on
frivolous activity that will be obsolete after
one or two readings, the client will only use
my masterpiece to classify the number of
cars stolen on a certain day, I play snakes
and ladders to earn my salary, throw the dice,
I feel well, eat something, to be swallowed by
the snake, I sink down five rows to carry on
with nothing to show for sitting on this hard
chair, nothing done to benefit mankind, no
support given to anyone except helping my
colleagues to move papers around, change
terms from red to blue, without song or
beauty or accomplishment, life without
melody…

Greater Force
I don’t know what to believe for each people has a good book of its own.
But I do believe there’s a greater power than anyone has ever known.
Marvels from the atom to the universe manifest incredible design
For lack of a better word they’re attributed to an entity called divine.
Being but human we name it many things like Allah, Buddha or God,
But to me it’s just an unknown force which in the instant of a nod
Can create a human body still little understood by mankind
Or paint a magnificent sunset no mortal could have ever designed.
This force has no timetable since past, present and future are one.
Best I use my few seconds wisely before my brief journey is done.
I do believe one thing for sure… I will be judged for doing what I could,
Because there is intrinsic right and wrong just as there is bad and good.
This force, this power is all around me; it manifests eternal love.
With this goodness my life will be as brilliant as any of the stars above.

Greater Than Most
Challenges are many.
And those balls some juggle,
Are greater than most.
The steps it takes to move forward,
Seem weighted and thick.
As if the paths those journey,
Must be done with the carrying...
Of a ton of bricks.
Yet,
There is a light that shines...
With an easing of tensions.
There is a fresh breeze that blows,
To cool and dry the wetness of sweat.
And even though the challenges of many,
That are faced.
There is a place of rest to reflect...
The rewards of continuing on.
With an achieving of success...
Those determined and motivated,
Feel within themselves and get!
Challenges are many.
And those balls some juggle,
Are greater than most.
Yet,
There is a light that shines...
With an easing of tensions.
With an achieving of success...
Those determined and motivated,
Feel within themselves and get!

Magnificent Twelve
the magnificent twelve were there
and their words are spread till this very day.
their words have reached each and every nation
to show the world eternal salvation.
there is nothing that they could not do
for their belief was stronger than me and you.
for they followed the LORD from the very first day
and saw and heard what HE could do and say.
HE healed the deaf and cured the blind
all this done in a very short time.
HE fed the crowd that followed
with just a few fish
and turned water into wine
at a marriage divine.
because of this -fear spread through out the lands
touching kings and people of power
HIS word spreading each and every hour.
the magnificent twelve were there
at HIS betrayal and condemnation.
this is the reason they spread
HIS word to every nation.
for HE offered us eternal salvation.
till this very day HIS words are seen and heard.
and like a good shepard HE watches HIS flock.
this is something that will never stop.
believe in CHRIST for there is no other.
for in HIS world we are sister and brother.

The philosophy to live
The life is
respect and dignity
My philosophy of
life is to
live with dreams
Is satisfying to
think at the
philosophy to live
The philosophy to
live is sacred
and genuine
Is essential that
the philosophy to
live is a
conscious and satisfying
act of our
personal existence
The philosophy to
live must be
defended from excessive
attacks
The philosophy to
live will be
a peaceful and
motivated revolution
The life is
a great and
magnificent work
The life must
be lived slowly
because only thus
can be authentic
The life is
not appearance
The life travels
in the present
The life is
an alternation of
emotions and sensations
There shouldn't be
obsessions in life
because it's an
unrepeatable and extravagant
thing

Such a Magnificent Gift
That which we are,
With dreams to fulfill invented...
Those that seem to be within,
Limitations our minds accept.
Limited they are,
With no greater expectations.
And although complicated,
The naturalness of life seems to be...
We simplify all that surrounds,
With adjustments to gratify...
Lives to set aside for quick cravings to feed.
No one questions what has become commonplace.
Or everyday address with priority,
The defacing that is done...
To a naturalness that sits,
As such a magnificent gift to us presented.
And yet with an impatience,
We create conflicts with attempts to destroy...
Such a magnificent gift,
Given to us that should represent joy.
That which we are,
With dreams to fulfill invented...
Those that seem to be within,
Limitations our minds accept.
Limited they are,
With no greater expectations.

Indian Adolescent
The Bengal tiger cub looked fine,
On top form for his age,
Maturing like the finest wine
And not locked in a cage...
As free as birds that fly the sky,
As wily as the rest,
As fast as those that seem so spry,
The tiger cub looked blessed.
Consider everything you know,
Of all the creatures seen,
His fur looks like it's all aglow,
Magnificent, serene...
He's on the prowl, for who knows what?
No longer playing games...
And now he'll give it all he's got,
With newly-focused aims...
He's confident that he must win,
He's steadfast through and through...
So valiant he'll not give in,
He'll do what he must do.
His eyes are like two worlds apart,
Together they're a team...
Yet driven by that tiger's heart,
Who knows what dreams they'll dream?

Passion
My magnificent obsession used to be writing, playing
with words still is my passion, yet I have landed a job
where mutilation of language and dreams is the main
thing going on; mixing rules and regulations with the
enunciations of people who cannot care less for the
beauty of sound
Who hate poetry with a vengeance, who destroy rhythm
wilfully, refusing to consider alliteration and assonance,
my heart is broken, I live my life in my mind, my citadel
keeping the magic, power, wonder and sound of sing-
song words alive - but sometimes the cold consensus
of inter-subjectivity
Penetrates the protective armour I have created and
leaves me writhing on the ground, shocked by modern
civilization’s attitude to the sacred in harmony, making
a fetish of appearance, reducing all dimensions to the
visual without reference to the divine mystery of
symbol and meaning

Picture Of Perfect Youth
Left out in the sun to dry again, washed up on a shore line south of spain
Gazing up with telescopic eyes, planetary life above the skies
Oh my god, shes my obsession, my obsession (my obsession)
Here she comes, shes a picture of perfect youth
Here she comes, lifting me up to the moon
Drifting on a boat in emerald seas, pulling on the strings inside of me
Tasting salt as waves dive over me, twisting on a rope of memories
Oh my god, shes my obsession, my obsession
Here she comes, shes a picture of perfect youth
Here she comes, lifting me up to the moon
Here she comes, shes a picture of perfect youth
Here she comes
If you could only see, that Im sinking like a stone
The sea is getting colder, every second as I go
Its like breathing underwater, but I just cant let you go
My obsession, shes my obsession, my obsession
Oh my god, shes my obsession, my obsession (my obsession)
Here she comes, shes a picture of perfect youth
Here she comes, lifting me up to the moonoh my god, shes my obsession, my obsession (my obsession)
Here she comes, shes a picture of perfect youth
Here she comes, lifting me up to the moon
Here she comes

There Is No Permanence Given
There is no permanence given to this existence.
Or challenges beset by obstacles on anyone's path,
No matter how difficult the appearance of the task...
One perceives as being unbearable,
That can not with a faith in place remove.
But some may find it easier to whine,
Than to make up their minds to use their faith.
Although some may take the presence,
Of opportunities away.
As if they have been granted divine power,
To affect someone's life they believe can be swayed.
But there is no permanence given to this existence.
Nor does one get a chance to be chosen,
To play God on any given day they select to perform miracles.

Death And Me
Death settled onto his dark Cleopatra couch
picking admirers who in black auras
sought immortality in magnificent deaths.
'I have artists, kings, monarchs, and especially writers
who sometimes write their own epitaphs years in advance
who cozy up to me seeking my fame and finality.
I say to them there will be no communiques you know beyond this
but they don't relent
some determined to write their final scene
for sequestration in all of memory
in family
in friends or foes minds.
Some believe, I think,
that a magnificent life
deserves a magnificent death.
But you see, '
said Death
'so many imitators
come to me
using me, yes using me for petty means
to revenge, guilt slinging, and often accidentally.
I forever have to suffer amateurs in this.
Many dress for the occasion
identify stardom at last their last equation
and I raise my cloak
disabuse the few and the many
who seek individuality not understanding that
I death only distribute
rearrangements of individuals
into the future many;
Individuals too; often see their own demise
as death
which of course is not true;
individuals are only conduits
for the what is to come to be.
He sighed.
I am merely the medium
which takes individuality
and re-center it
into the cosmos.

Dancing on Starlight
The magnificent watchers
In the sky
Pure white
Like angels
Heavenly angels watching
As we gaze
As we wonder at the awesomeness
The vastness
We create
We create dreams
Love
Hope
Dreams of love
Love of hope
Hope that dreams come true
The benevolent orb
So bright
So serene
Guarding the watchers
The watchers that protect us
Our guardians
As we gaze
As we wonder at our guardians
Our protectors
We create
We create dreams
Love
Hope
Dreams of love
Love of hope
Hope that the dreams come true
If only we could dance
Dance upon the starlight
Dance among our keepers
This would surely be bliss
As we create
We create our dreams
Of love
And hope
Dreaming of love
Loving hope
Hoping that dreams come true
You create
You fill my dreams
With love
With hope
I dream of your love
Love the hope you give
And wish my dreams to reality

No Greater Lust
In those who desire to become leaders the ego is quite strong
And sad to say there is nothing worse than an ego that's gone wrong
Those who abuse their privilege of power are those with an ego out of control
For there is nothing darker than darkness of the soul
And no greater abuser than the abuser of power
In fear of the dictator the population cower
The only respect they have for him is respect out of fear
Of crimes against humanity of the power obsessed we do hear.
The one who does not desire great power is the lucky one indeed
The power to lead a happy life is all she or he does need
The most powerful person in the World to the Reaper's scythe must fall
For every life must end in death and that applies to all.
No greater lust than the lust for power and it does seem sad to say
That people often the wrong type vote into power on election day
'Tis said that all good leaders are compassionate and kind
But such people are very rare and very hard to find.

A Tower Name
The Lord’s name
Power name
A tower name
A strong name
And power-tower name
A strong tower, the name
A safe place, the name
Good in every situation, the name
Has unmatched power, the name
And a place of fortification, the name
When spiritually attacked, to the name run
When the past foibles clouds the mind, to the name run
When disappointed, to the name run
When failure cripples in, to the name run
And when tempted, to the name run
In the name, security
In the name, safety
In the name, peace
In the name, strong power
And in the name, a strong tower
A strong tower, strong refuge
A strong tower, stout defense
A strong tower, powerful protection
A strong tower, shield from the past
And a strong tower, enemy at bay to put
Whatever enemy offensive, call the name
Like Joseph, make a dash to the name
So portable, so wherever, the tower name
A refuge from doubt, selfishness, malice
And a shelter from slenderness, loneliness, envy and the like
So as the devil launches attack
A run to the tower name make
Call upon the power name
Stay in the power-tower
And watch him, sulking away
The Bible assures us: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” (Prov.18: 10, KJV) .

My Personal Possession
(charles singleton, rose marie mccoy)
You are my personal possession,
Youre mine alone
You are my personal possession,
My very own.
Nobody else must kiss you but me,
Nobody else must miss you but me.
Nobody must dream of you but me,
And nobody else must love you but me.
Youre my personal possession,
Thats what you are.
Youre my magnificent obsession,
My lucky star.
I own you exclusively,
Darling, you belong to me.
Youre my personal possession,
My precious love!

Existing As Ideals
Dreams need no corporeality, a
dream fulfilled becomes one-
dimensional reality without
power to draw desire and
passion through us
I love dreams as ideas, romance
as mirage, an image in the mind:
therein lies its power, a vision to
be filed for later use when it fails
to entice
Materialisation shrinks infinite
dimensions of enchanting
vision, I cherish dreams
until threadbare,
I love
Ethereal ideals as Quixotic
schemes fighting windmills:
idea reigns supreme, reality
is but weak reflection of
grand ideals
Lamenting impossibility of love
means we miss the joy of
illusion and dreams
inspirational only
if unexplained
We live life in little routines
while existing as ideals
within a holographic
universe…
