Freezing White

Weaving down the street, narrowly missing stragglers
not dodging when I bear down on them with impatient
tread, dreaming about visiting Russia one day, feeling
the passion and warmth of a people so different from
us, whose inner life is important to survive the cold

While we live outside ourselves, without introspection
because the weather calls us forth all the time, great
weather even in winter, grumbling if cloud cover dare
cover the sun for too long; what is it like where the sun
does not shine; melancholic grey skies, freezing white

Forcing all to remain indoors, to develop reverence for
art and beauty, for classical ballet, where innocence
survived the cold calculation of consumerism, where
rebels tried to free a nation from religious political
oppression, bringing about terrible upheaval

I wonder about the things I have read while remembering
Ivan Rebroffs deep, velvet rendition of my favourite
song, Langehovens Lullaby for Liefstetjie

Concealment And Covering

you conceal so many things
for so many reasons
you cover them
for so many ratiocinations

you cover you cup of coffee
so it may not get cold that easily

in the same manner you cover your cooking pot
so it may get hot earlier and at least fuel

you cover your ears perhaps because there's so much noise
you cover your head because it may be so hot or there may be rain

you cover your book to protect it from stains
you cover your furnitures because there is so much dust

you cover your body, your heart, your mind
for so many reasons

to each his own because we want to survive we want to live
we want to be just left to ourselves in our chosen privacies

no one has ever said that survival is a crime, a sin, a wrong,
it is the most fitting thing to do, and you must do it too.

I Will Be Grateful For This Day

I will be grateful for this day that God gave me
That is full of sunshine during this winter day that is cold at the same Time
But I wished that God would take the cold back with him and leave me with the warm weather
But maybe it will be too hot when he brings the warm weather
So I will have to live with the cold weather for now

It Really Never Was...

the day is getting darker
painting shadows on the wall
broken wings of blue skies
going for a moment

everything's now in the evening
with longings in the deep
and wishes still not happening

the winter
glasses with frosty roses
and perfect days in somberness
in the white weather

every thought
is now alone
reaching to the mountains
faraway
in silences of time

every hour
is cold and getting colder
with drifting clouds
in northern skies
that can't hold back

how do I not be alone
when times are like these
how do I not feel the blues
when the clouds surrounds me
with few landings
into summer thoughts

every hour
is cold and getting colder
with drifting clouds
in northern skies
that can't hold back

the winter
comes soft and sweet
with clean glisten thoughts
and snowflakes that never stop pouring...
when it gets cold outside

the winter
oh the winter
how fresh it can get
how cold it can get

it really never was...
full of romantic
it just has these surprises
in the weather
that can't hold back
the clouds that surrounds me

it really never was...
just the winter

it really never was...
just the winter

Cover Me

Let your arm’s cover me

And protect me

From the high part of the
Day

Your branches leafless in
In the winter''s sun

But, can I rest beneath
Your branches of skeleton
Frame.

Through the gusty wind
That blow so strong

Winter cold wind

Even thou the sunshine is
High

The color is gray

The moon is rising

With a icy smile

The hostile wind is

Blowing with vengeance

Looking for retribution
Will you

Cover me with your skeleton
Fingers

Hide me from that angry wind

Clashing with that frosty moon

Cold, freezing cold

I’ll make me a home within

The layer of your wood to keep
Me warm

Until spring blossom''s out and
All
Love bloom''s in may

To
Blossom in June and end in
July

Even the tree’s sprout’s out
Again to become anew

With bloom''s ablaze in the spring
A coming

Blossom with a beauty of a deep
Rich green hue

Cover me within your walls so my off
Springs may grow

Warm and cuddley my off spring''s
Grow for our new generation

Cover me from the icy angry wind
Blowing on me

On and around me

I don’t wanna freeze and snap, pop
And crack

I wanna to be cover and warm where
My wings will grow..

Cold Beauty

What is beauty without warmth n love,
Brrrrrrh cold seein but cannot hold.
No grasp of this beauty, only a distant touch,
Maybe from giving beauty to much.
Or not givin beauty enough,
Seein the distant gaze of green, grey, n blue haze
In the place where beautys eyes go.
But to the touch beauty is cold as snow.
How did beauty get so?
Why did beauty let go, of the warmth that imbrased her so tight?
Guess beauty is still beauty inspite,
Only dream of beauty every night.
To wake everyday in dismay not to see beautys face.
So my thoughts of beauty remain in solitude,
to respect beautys mind not to be rude.
Still wantin to intrude because of my pain.
But what if beauty calls anothers name,
In the hours that I dream of her.
So my words remain a secret to beautys ears,
As i quickly wipe away the tears.
And wish beauty the best of life.
As i grasp myself and my dutys,
Still lingering in my mind is cold beauty.

Winter Season

Winter season has arrived
All that has survived
Is once again at risk
Everyone is in brisk
Attempt to keep hot
At every spot
All creatures are still
Birds is keeping closed its bill
Weather is chill
Ready to kill
With icy hands
In many lands
Always be careful
The weather is cool
Media have already told
Be ready to beat the cold
It is winter season
Protect from cold for a reason
Keep yourself warm
To avoid any harm

Signs of the Believer

Under us are signs of the believers,
We walk upon snow and ice too cold.
The ice age reigns like winter,
Always in shine, ever in weather.
The waves of pure delight overcome us
When we march against the lands.
The land of cold is like the land of old,
We are fortunate due to the age of winter.
Under the signs of winter are moments
We adore and recollect, for the innocence to remind.
This realised me, and my family in winter,
Understanding the heat of the summer.

Can't Change the Weather

Crisp and white and cold
It was a beautiful snowy day
Life seemed devoid of turmoil
As I watched the ducks at play

Trees covered in their lacy winter white
The sky was gray with threatening snow
And yet a bit of white peaked through
It was the best kind’a day I know

And as I drove across a bridge
Slush was forming and the snow rearranged
It seemed as though there was a pause
I knew something was about to change

I love the changing of the weather
A cold and blowing storm
And then as quick as fingers snap
It would be sunny and sweet and warm

I guess whatever the season
Or whatever the weather right now
We might as well just settle in
Can’t change the weather anyhow!

Shivery

This cold cold weather, bids me not
to energetic spree
I stand and shiver, wondering how
To warm that cold cold me

If only I could make a start
It would not be bad it seems.
But somehow I just linger on
And do it, in my dreams.

My ideas are brilliant
They are plain to see
But ho, this cold cold weather
Does waste my time for me.

Heavy Rain

Fields everywhere, now are completely sodden.
No more can their surfaces be safely trodden.
The grass in the fields was all turning brown,
But now, I fear that the fields could drown.

This year, it looked like we were facing a drought,
But now, I can’t believe how much rain is about.
It rains all day long, without even a pause.
Only by the plants, is all this rain is adored.

On the roads, there are massive puddles.
In the fields, under trees, the cattle huddle.
I know we all said we wanted the rain,
But now, it’s becoming a bit of a pain.

There are grey skies constantly overhead,
And I’m not that tempted to leave my bed.
The water in the fields will take ages to go,
And, now many of the vegetables won’t grow.

In this weather, you're constantly soaking wet,
And, by many a gloomy face, are you often met.
At any moment, I fear there’ll be a thunder storm.
This weather makes me feel very far from warm.

Every day, there is more heavy downfalls forecast,
How much longer can this dreadful weather last?
Even the weather forecaster gives a sympathetic look.
This weather is really pretty bad, even by his book.

In the towns, the High Streets are somewhat deserted.
On some roads, floods cause the traffic to be diverted.
Leaves and general rubbish clutter up the drains,
So that, on the road surfaces, the water will remain.

It’s summertime, and the weather is supposed to be hot,
But we’ve had all this rain lately, so obviously it’s not.
People everywhere are cancelling their summer barbeques;
Informing all their guests of the rather disappointing news.

There was a time when summer was hot and winter was cold,
But, into one, the seasons now seemed to have been rolled.
The whole nation over, organisers are cancelling events,
While fed up campers are speedily packing up their tents.

What the weather would be like, you once were able to guess,
But it’s all turned topsy-turvy and is now a real bloomin’ mess.
In an ideal world, during the day, the sun could shine nice and bright,
Then the rain could fall for hours on end, as long as it was only at night.

A healthy mixture of sun and rain is what we really need;
Both of which are needed to germinate newly sown seeds.
I really do wish that this constant rain would just go away;
Allowing us to carry out activities, we’d planned for the day.

Human's Soul Never Freeze

In snow on a bench a poor man sat,
He was frozen, so cold it was,
He didn't have any shelter,
But shared the bench with a dog.

His mustache and eyebrows were coated with snow,
His legs were numb, looking the color blue,
Although it was so cold, he didn't wear his warm coat,
Feeling for the dog he used his warm coat to cover the dog.

That poor man gave his coat,
To save and protect the dog's life,
Not caring for his own health, in the freezing cold,
He offered warmth and care to a dog.

People found them and took them to the shelter,
Gave them food and warmth to treat,
One sure thing from this is certain,
That a human's soul never freeze.

The last sunshine

The cold breeze
with icy freezing fingers
brushed leaves freezing
against the windowpanes.

Rain fell from a cold grey sky
seeping trough everything,
driving the freezing winter in.

I tried to lock the winter out
closed French louver windowpanes
and to only let
the much too timid sun in.

Outside the evergreen bay leave tree
that had been blown over
in a summer storm

have sprouted new long stems
covered with green leaves
already growing higher
than the roof
moving to and fro
as if rocked by the wind.

Distance is locking you out
and in your mind
we are growing apart
and are in a winter
of the heart

and you are sad
and read a farewell
in my lines
although I am still trying
to catch the last sunshine
of that which lies
between us.

Weather is Changing

The weather is changing
It’s getting cold
My soul is freezing
Without you to hold

Since you went away
I suffer without end
No more lover
An irreplaceable friend

The north wind blows strong
Against my brittle bones
My emotions run wild
Like the ocean pounding on stones

Yes the weather is changing
It’s getting cold
My soul is freezing
Without you to hold

Cold As Ice

I dont think you understand
Oh the rhythm of my heart
Theres a strong line to mind and soul
I feel it tearing apart
Ive been searching for new words
Gonna make you understand in a different way
When I told you Id hang on forever
I threw my choice away
And its cold as ice
I cant let go
Its cold as ice
Baby but I need your love
And I wish I could have been the first one
Oh to walk out the door
The more I find myself to blame
The less there is to come back for
You wish you could have been the last one
To tell me how you really feel
Cause when you closed the door oh deep inside
My heart it still seemed so sincere
And its cold as ice
I cant let go oh
Its cold as ice
Baby but I need your love
Its cold as ice
I cant let go
Its cold as ice
Baby but I need your love
If theres a message to this madness
Well it still seems quite unclear
If I really need to save myself
Why cant I just walk out of here
Theres a message in your eyes
And you make it perfectly plain
Either I leave your heart behind
Or crack beneath this freezing
Freezing freezing freezing rain
Cold as ice
(cold as ice)
I cant let go
(but I cant let go)
Cold as ice
Baby but i
But I need your love
All right
I said Im cold
Cold Im cold
(cold as ice)
Cold Im cold
(baby)
Cold Im cold
(cold as ice darling)
Cold as ice
(cold as ice)
Oh no but I cant let go
(I said Im freezing, freezing)
Oh no no I cant let go
(freezing, freezing, freezing, freezing)
No no Im cold as ice
(whoa whoa baby yeah)
Im cold as ice
But I cant let go
No

Its Winter again

It’s not yet snow but I can smell it
Sounds of rubbing hands and bodies freezing
The sip of hot coffee and closed window panes
Looks like its winter again

Snow and fog and the feeling of cold
Snow and fog and celebrations unfold
The late sunlight brings thousands of smiles
The early evenings and the silent miles and miles

The train whistles and only whistles
The windows are closed with passengers and shivers
The touch of wool and the warmth at home
And outside it’s a snowstorm

Its time to celebrate these cold evenings
Entire world celebrates, as there are many things winter brings
The coziness of bed
The unmatched taste of hot bread
Those pink and white colours everywhere
And the walk through that cold air

Winter is here to make all of us smile
Winter is here to stay for a little while
Winter is here for celebrations
Winter is here for hot chocolate temptations

An Icicle Kiss

'I am the Winter Flower'
she said
'the opposite of the Summer Ones.'

'My blooms
peak in deep snow
and I weather
hail, sleet and bitter cold.

My Summer Kin
know the Sun.

I live beneath
White Winter's Glow
withstanding
blizzard wind
as furies blow.

I produce
anti-cold;
survive
winter's
frozen mold.

My petals
are steel-forged
for winter has made
me strong.

My bulb forces it's way
up through frozen ground
and defiant
I face worst Winter's onslaughts.

My petals
fold, unfold
peak,
and stare Winter down.

I am the Winter Flower
beautiful in my Ice Tower.

I too,
have my Ice Prince
who plants upon me
an Icicle Kiss
beneath diamond shining
beautiful,
frosty
Wintry Stars.

Winter's Cold

As the Weather turns colder
the landscape changes colorfully
beautiful shades of greens to lovely fall colors
to the cold of gray and whites
leaves tumble from the branches above
the temperature dropping so fast
send chills down our spines
time to bundle up for a cold winter season
Snow and cold will be upon us, sooner than we want
each winter brings a new tale
either freezing temperatures on heavy snows, sometimes both
snow brings skiers, sledders, skaters, ice fishermen to life
snow forts to snowmen everywhere
the beautiful white landscape comes to life
the sun's rays reflecting off the crystal snow
like glitter tossed around
so breathe taking to see and to enjoy
bundled up inside drinking hot chocolate
waiting for summer to come
beautiful winter turn your cold off and send us our summer sooner.
I miss the summer heat and beautiful outdoors
old man winter does bring some joy,
but for most it brings cold and snow
time for stories around the fireplace with Mom and Dad
hot cocoa and homemade cookies
stay warm for winter will come and go

The Winter Poem Is A Cold Poem

THE WINTER POEM IS A COLD POEM

The winter poem is a cold poem
It is a poem seeking warmth
It wants to feel a comfort
In being at home
But the cold is deep
And so dark
And the pain so rigid in its breaking
That no light can heat it
And no sun can thaw it
And nothing not even the bright blue skies of another time
Can make one forget it.
The winter poem is a hard poem and a cold poem
And the soul of that poem is as loveless as death.

First snow

Days become increasingly cold,
As the winter gains a stronghold,
With winds cloud cover is revealed,
With hopes a snowfall it will yield,
Excitement grows as it once would,
We recall memories from childhood,
And relive those larkish things we did,
Deep down we are still that same kid,
Snowflakes gently float to the ground,
First there's few then they're all around,
A just formed winter wonderland,
That we experience firsthand,
A coating of snow is gently laid,
And soon beautiful scenes are made,
Through virgin snow eager to tread,
As by our inner-child we're led.
