Simple words just don't say it

Which one of us puts up the wall,
is it me or you?
Did I do something very wrong?
Just tell me what to do.

You act as if it's all okay,
but do you care either way?
I thought that we were friends,
if I knew what I was doing wrong,
I'd gladly make amends.

But then your tone is harsh,
you shun me far away.
Am I just a playmate?
I question everyday.

We used to be so close,
now we're near and yet so far.
Now you've got me thinking,
is this what friends really are?

A person I used to trust,
now inside I run away.
My world of colours,
has turned dull and boring grey.

You used to be the spark,
that lit up every day.
Now I can't tell which,
of us has gone astray.

I treasure your presence dearly,
but I don't know if I'm the same.
Because now I think
you see me as boring and just lame.

A burden at your heels,
that is what I seem to be.
I am the invisible dog,
that you never seem to see.

Just tagging right behind,
I am always there.
But in your perfection,
I am hidden in your flair.

You are the apple of everyone's eye,
the goal they set above.
You are the friend,
I grew to know and love.

But then I felt unneeded,
for you already seemed so whole.
Sometimes i really think,
I should just become a mole.

To be out of your way,
and out of your sight.
That way I'd not have to bother you,
in the cover of the night.

I miss being a counterpart,
an actual human to say the least.
To be able to talk freely,
and not chained up like a beast.

At every word and phrase,
I'm scared that I'll offend.
The one we view so highly,
the one I called a friend.

I feel like I am crumbling,
I am just a wreck.
She stands in the limelight,
always ever perfect.

I know I've heard of invisibility,
and feeling down and so low.
But I never thought,
that that was where I'd go.

I feel so awkward,
far-off and left alone.
Now when we talk,
it's a one-sided phone.

I wish that it would change,
to how it used to be.
So that we could talk,
And I could just be me.

Being Boring

(tennant/lowe)
---------------
I came across a cache of old photos
And invitations to teenage parties
Dress in white one said, with quotations
From someones wife, a famous writer
In the nineteen-twenties
When youre young you find inspiration
In anyone whos ever gone
And opened up a closing door
She said: we were never feeling bored
cause we were never being boring
We had too much time to find for ourselves
And we were never being boring
We dressed up and fought, then thought: make amends
And we were never holding back or worried that
Time would come to an end
When I went I left from the station
With a haversack and some trepidation
Someone said: if youre not careful
Youll have nothing left and nothing to care for
In the nineteen-seventies
But I sat back and looking forward
My shoes were high and I had scored
Id bolted through a closing door
I would never find myself feeling bored
cause we were never being boring
We had too much time to find for ourselves
And we were never being boring
We dressed up and fought, then thought: make amends
And we were never holding back or worried that
Time would come to an end
We were always hoping that, looking back
You could always rely on a friend
Now I sit with different faces
In rented rooms and foreign places
All the people I was kissing
Some are here and some are missing
In the nineteen-nineties
I never dreamt that I would get to be
The creature that I always meant to be
But I thought in spite of dreams
Youd be sitting somewhere here with me
cause we were never being boring
We had too much time to find for ourselves
And we were never being boring
We dressed up and fought, then thought: make amends
And we were never holding back or worried that
Time would come to an end
We were always hoping that, looking back
You could always rely on a friend
And we were never being boring
We had too much time to find for ourselves
And we were never being boring
We dressed up and fought, then thought: make amends
And we were never being boring
We were never being bored
cause we were never being boring
We were never being bored

To My Best Friend

You are my best friend
In the whole entire world.
And you always will be.

When I first met you,
Yeah, I was nervous, too.
But I knew there was something special.

When I talk to you,
I feel good inside.
Like nothing could possibly go wrong.

When I'm sad,
You cheer me up,
And make me laugh and smile.
And I do the same for you.
You're there for me.

You talk to me,
And tell me everything's gonna be okay.
And you mean everything you say.

And also, when I'm down,
You'd probably wipe my tears,
And hold my hand,
Comforting me.

I know you'd do this,
Because you've told me you care.
I love you, and you love me.
That's more than I could ask for.

If you were gone,
Heck, I'd miss you like crazy.
But I'd live for you,
And go on because that's what you'd want.

I'd risk anything,
I'd risk my life for you.
And we both know why.
You're my BEST FRIEND.

Who I'm Starting To See

i use to let you tell me what to do,
i don't know why,
maybe because at the time,
i couldn't think for myself,

it was just something about you,
that made me feel special,
but, now i see what you doing,
little by little,

i see where i went wrong,
giving up part of my power,
and letting you have what you want,
i feel as if you can't trust me,

you snoop through my phone,
when i'm not looking,
just to see who i dial,
i caught you one or twice,

but you thought it was fun and games,
what is wrong with you?
little by little,
i'm starting to think i will be better off,

if only i wasn't with you,
i'm starting to feel trapped,
rather than free and opened,
my friend seem to say,

you're abit controling,
am i being blind sided?
can't really see,
what's in front of me, the whole time?

i think back of when you notice me,
it wasn't until you realize,
what you were slowly losing,
that you put in a little effort,

just to try and be with me,
but, in my eyes,
i'm starting to think it was fake,
you put up a front,

rather than just be yourself,
people don't see,
what i'm starting to see,
a guy who does more talk,

rather than take action,
i don't know why i'm still with you,
i know i'm better than this,
but, i get sucked in,

when you tell me that you miss me,
i don't know why, maybe because,
i don't like the feeling of being alone,
i've been through so much,

at times you helped me through,
other times you made jokes,
about the mistakes i made,
what kind of help are you?

you wanted to perade it,
like it was you business to tell,
what kind of friend are you?
slowly i'm starting to see the real you,

the part i lost sight on,
when everything fell apart,
to make me think,
you just wasn't the one for me.

When I Talk To You

Remember me
Feels like forever
Since the days
When we were friends
I don't understand
All these changes
I'm still the same
No need to pretend

Where'd it go..?
Do you know..?
Maybe it just doesn't matter

'Cause when i try to talk to you
I feel like I'm not getting through you
Where did we go wrong
It's hard to be strong
When I talk...
When I talk to you

There were times
In the beginning
When you were there
When I needed you most
We'd sit and talk
About the future
And laugh about
Us getting old

Do you know
How it feels
I hope that you know that it matters

But when i try to talk to you
I feel like I'm not getting through you
Where did we go wrong
It's hard to be strong

When I talk to you
I want you to know everything that I am
Don't want to know what life would be without you

When i try to talk to you
I feel like I'm not getting through you
Where did we go wrong
It's hard to be strong
When I talk...
When I talk to you

I Just Didn't Love You

For some Strange reason
I thought you loved me
I guess i was wrong
I thought i loved you
But i loved The song
The song that played when we were together
The song that i wish could last forever
That song was my little secret
I loved that song, i wish could keep it
I promised myself that i wouldn't fall
and i didn't
I just thought i had it all
All i really had was the song
I did have you,
but it turned out you didn't belong
There really isn't any happy endings
I thought it was possible, but who was i kidding
Me and you, we were just pretending
We use to talk on the phone all night
We use to say i love you, but it never felt right
I did love it when we were together
but like they say, nothing lasts forever
I loved how we could talk about everything that's anything
I love how i use to feel when i heard the phone ring
I loved how when i was upset, you always knew exactly what to do
But for some strange reason, i just didn't love you
Our false love is dead
and i realized that song was all in my head

What Makes A True Friend?

What are the qualities that a friend should
have – that which would make a true friend so true?
A friend is one whom you like to be with
while a true friend insists on being with you.

A friend likes you when you have so much in
common. True friends like you who for who you are.
True friends make you feel as though they are at
all times near, although they are very far.

A true friend is one whom you can always
talk to, even at night when it is late -
when loved ones are asleep, a true friend is
always there to hear what you have to say.

Friends like to share, but a true friend always
gives you – not what you want, but what you need.
The feelings you hide, as well as your thoughts,
and your dreams, a true friend can always read.

A friend may forgive you or they may not
forgive, for something wrong you've done to them.
A true friend forgives even when you don't
ask. True friends forgive - again and again.

Friends are close when you are close to them. A
true friend wants your friendship to be closer.
A true friend does what is best for you, and
hates that you would end up with the losers.

A true friend teaches you lessons to help
you grow – lessons that are hard and easy.
A true friend is always there - having a
true friend can never make you feel lonely.

Friends may sometimes make mistakes, but a true
friend is always careful not to hurt you.
A true friend is a guide and a teacher.
A true friend knows everything you go through.

The true friend I mention is our God,
who kept you company before you were born.
The friendship of God, if you truly keep
and cherish, you will never feel forlorn.

The true friend we all need is God (Allah) –
the One who guides and can teach us lessons,
the One who hears our calls and understands,
the One always near – in every season –

Allah, as a Friend, never judges us
by the way we look and how we appear.
Allah, as a Guide, if we ask Him for
guidance, He guides us and makes our paths clear.

Allah is with us – each day and each night –
He is always there when all are asleep.
Allah always listens when others don't.
He gives you comfort when He sees you weep.

Fortunate are those who have Allah as
a Friend. Friendship with God is friendship true.
May Allah bless me with His Friendship and
May Allah's Friendship be shared with you too.

Ameen.

To a Friend... I Shall Never Forget...

The first day I came to this school
I felt totally and completely alone
No one approached to say hi to me
I felt like I was entirely invisible and unknown
But then a light from heaven came to me
And asked me what my name was
And there came the first feeling of friendship
You were the greatest and best because
You were my friend
When I had no one else to talk too
You were my buddy
I felt the friendship between us was true
You treated me very kindly
And was incredibly nice to me
I knew that you were a gift from God
And you were the one who made me see
The true meaning of friendship
And the real feeling of devotion and care
You were the one I knew
That was and still is there
You were always there when needed help
And when I needed some comfort to engulf me
Instead of telling me I don’t know what to do
You talk to me and tell me what a greater person I can be
I know I am a better person
And that’s because of you my truly and best friend
I definitely know that I will remember this
Forever to by which shall never end
You have a great and a very polite personality
That is everyone’s wish to become
And you have achieved in your life
And had most certainly and definitely won
You are a role model to me
And I absolutely look up to you
A friend I shall always respect
A friend that is a-hundred-percent true
You are –my friend
a dream come true
A friend that I shall always remember
And I will never ever find a friend like you.

Not Lonely or Alone

Don't think you're alone
Nobody's alone in this world
If you don't have friends than God is watching you
God is watching you and protecting you everyday

God doesn't want you to feel lonely
He wants you to be happy
God might send a person who wants to be your friend to you
Why?
God knows that you're lonely and he never wants anybody to be lonely
So He sends a companion that will be by your side everyday
To make you happy, support you, and to share their kindess to you

If you think you're alone and feel lonely
Maybe I could help too
I always love to make people happy
If you don't have any friends, maybe I could be your friend

Don't think you're lonely
If you do... think about what God thinks and what I think
God and I never want anybody to think they're alone and feel lonely
I would like to be everybody's friend
Because I know everybody has good and bad
Even I do

I have friends who are mean to me
But I'm their friend
Because I know that they can't be happy without me
I'm sad when they are sad
Even if they're harsh
I'll be their friend
A friend always to look out for and support everyday
So don't think you're alone because you're not.

When I Was A Child I Believed

When I was a child
a very young child
I looked at the world

of adults in discussion
their patterns of interaction
their comments reactions

a very strange world
differences between what adults said
and what child were told

their masks worn
and I thought about what
they did and why?

Questions were asked
about what you wanted
to be when you grew up?

The work question was important,
but never asked was how well you
would do this work, and for who?

They were often silent or suddenly angry
‘children were to be seen but not heard’
the news to be listened to in serious silence.

First talk repeat their sounds
to smiles laughter
then don’t talk be silent listen?

First stand walk walk how far
then don’t walk stay wait
where your told don’t go away?

When adults met sometimes they would
start to talk a lot fast all at once not one
at a time and laugh a lot talk walk funny?

Why not be on their best behaviour
nice to others as they told children to be?
Why not choose to be good not bad?

Years later I would smile a lot why not
it costs nothing to smile and often others.
Would catch your smile and smile also?

Even when sad smiling was a good thing to do
to appreciate all you have been given.
Even though you could not always play with

what was given or go outside or play with friends.
Especially on those boring rainy days.
So many games were not allowed if you got dirty?

As a teenager smilie would be a nick name.
That smile given freely to people who needed
to smile but chose to be miserable instead!

It never cost anything to be nice to people either!
To give to help had its own record, it felt good!
Happy people are the nice people to be around!

I believed happiness was the most precious gift,
a person could give another, and if sad then to give,
happiness you did not have; was even more important.

Once in my early twenties I was surprised,
a friend said you cannot be that good,
no one is that good, but I knew I was not good.

At twenty-two when about to travel overseas,
my uncle said you think everyone is your friend,
be careful, everyone you meet; is not your friend.

Now I am older and sadly wiser,
yet I still know that to treat a stranger,
as a friend not a treat is still better.

That to say hello with a smile,
and wish people well,
is still a wonderful thing to do.

I still believe it is a better thing to do.
And when kindness is meet with hostility?
I feel pity for the hurt who choose to hurt.

It is not the right way.
It is not God’s way.
It is still not my way.

The Bad Pretty Girl

I am the pretty one,
the one the girls hate
and the boys pant for
and I stand aloof because
there is no room for me to be
who I am.

All I get is people reacting
to how I look
and I see them whisper
'She's so stuck up.'
I am not.
I am lonely and superior to them
that make these kinds of comments.

So all day I have to take the stares
and the mini-hatreds
just because I am pretty.
I like being pretty
it comes easy to me;
takes no effort.

My hair is beautiful and I don't have to do anything to it.
My skin is good. Thank God, no zits
My figure is good
but I get the comments when I walk through-
the Neanderthals always make comments-
and I cannot help it if my parents are rich.

So I am trapped behind this wall.
I don't have to study hard to get good grades;
this school is easy.
I don't have to work hard for anything.
Things just come to me.
But it has made a prison for me
and because I don't have to get smart
or work hard-
I can get by on my looks.
My teachers like me-
one too much,
so in the end I am doing what I hate
others do-
seeing me only in terms of how I look
and I realize I am doing the same thing to myself.

I am my looks. I am trapped.
So when boys try to talk to me I clam up
because I think there is only one thing they want.
And most of the time I am right. They do-just want
one thing.
Other's of them just want to say I am their girl friend
even if that is not true just so they can brag to their friends.

Some of them lie and claim they had you, or you
are lesbian just because you don't like them.

I am the pretty girl and most times that is pretty sad.

So I don't talk to anyone except other pretty girls.
They understand. They have the pretty girl thing too.

So we stand around sometimes and think we are superior
but we also think secretly we might be inferior and lonely too
and who is going to feel sorry for the pretty girl? Nobody that's who.

So I dated the football guy who was pretty too. It seemed he would
understand-handsome and pretty, the same thing I thought.
Boy was I wrong. He was his mothers' boy and only liked me
because he thought there was prestige in it. And I did it for
the same reason. We both were boring when alone and tried to
look like the super couple when people were around.
I was bored and truth be told I was also boring.
I had nothing to say and all's he wanted to talk about was football
and sex.
I told him no.
And then he latched onto my best friend, well I called her my best friend, but
we were not really friends. We just sorta hung out together.
My real best friend was Alma for a while. She was the ugly sidekick
pretty girls seem to attract. All she wanted to do was be with me. She did
everything I asked her to, sometimes without me even asking. I began to think that just maybe being pretty was being superior. People like Alma
made it easy to think that. She seemed to think I was superior.
I used to lie to her about all the boys coming on to me and things they said and she believed those lies. I felt I had to tell the stories because the stories seemed to mean so much to her. Besides telling her the phony stories gave me a fantasy life to make up for my real one.
We were a good pair of friends for a while until Alma told me one day about her love. Her love for me. And I realized she was not talking about friend love.
That's another thing, you get come ons from both genders and some like Alma turn into stalkers. She lied and told her friend that we had been together. A total lie.
That is why high school is prison camp for the pretty girl.
I broke down one day while talking to Geek Billy who came over to my house to fix my computer. He was rad-geek and shorter than me and I never really considered him a real person or anything so I was talking like he was not even there. I was saying 'why me, why does everyone hate me? '
He started yammering that he didn't hate me, and put his arm around me. I looked up and saw that he was not trying to jump my bones, he really was trying to comfort me like he understood and all that. It was laughable you know. I was so above him and everything but he seemed that day like a real person to me for just a tiny minute.
He left and I lay on my bed and wrote into my diary-'Geek boy loves me.'
I wrote: 'I am the pretty girl no one likes because I am above them.'

Memories Of Our Friendship

as we stray apart,
memories keep us close,
we talk once a month,
but when we do,
it feels like everyday,
you have this calm about you,
that make me myself,
everytime i talk to you,

best friends for love,
lovers family always thought,
what happened between us,
is what holds us apart,
it had nothing to do with you,
i stopped trusting,
the day somebody took away,
my innocents and trust,
though it been years,
i just found out,
sharing the reason why,
will make me feel closer to you,
you married and have your life,
i want what best for you,
and if it means,
holding in how i feel,
to keep you happy and married,
that what i will do.

I Wanna Talk To You

M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m
Lord, lordy, lordy
Standing here on my own side
Waitin fo the floor
Your worlds movin fast
But still ends up a bore
Come on give me a little room na
Do you have to take it all
Yeah thats the way it is I guess
Then youre born with nothin at all
Uh- uh- uh- uh- uh- uh- uh
I wanna talk to you
I wanna talk to you
Hey boy dont feel my worlds untrue
Yeah, I wanna talk to you
My world can be true
I wanna talk to you
Pick up my life at the table
Read about the way I could be
But I know I just aint able
So I read about the real me
Who can I blame
For the way I am
I aint never had one soul to help me
So I dont give a.......
Uh- uh- uh- uh- uh- uh- uh
Watch that boy, watch that
I heard you thinkin
I wanna talk to you
I wanna talk to you
Dont feel my worlds untrue
Yeah, boy I wanna talk to you
My world can be true
But you gotta find out what to do
I wanna talk to you sonny beau
Gotta woman that lov me
Feed me beans evry night
Twelve babies look up at me
Wid big grey hungry eyes
Oh but I just cant complain
You see ya, said I aint allowed
Oh but pretty soon will come a change
When I gain the biggest mouth
Uh- uh- uh- uh- uh- uh- uh
I wanna talk to you
I wanna talk to you
Dont feel my worlds untrue
Yeah boy , I wanna talk to you
My world can be true
Im a show you what to do

The Pain That You Went Through

As I think of my past
Tears start to run down my eyes
And this is a memory that will never go away but it will last
Of the things I did to you guys

I remember as sometimes I would come to your rooms at night
And I would talk to you about what you did that day
And how I would hug you so tight
Before I would turn out light and we would pray

I miss the sound of your each of your voices
This hurts me because of all the pain that I caused the both of you
Sometimes we make the wrong choices
And how I can now feel the pain that you went through

There are times when I should know what I needed to do
Especially when I knew that you wanted to talk to me and you waited by the phone
Because I knew that all you wanted to say is daddy we love you
This hurts me because s I felt like I left the both of you feeling alone

So please forgive me in the things that I have done
And I want us to be pals again and for the both of you see
That I am proud of the both of my sons
And all I want is us to be is a family

I Will Never Forget You

When I went to same school with you, it was fun being in same class with you and becoming friends
Although we barely talk alot, I enjoy seeing you
You are so quiet and shy
I still miss you
I will never forget you
When I left to move back here

When things that bring back memories about you, I feel sad and want to cry
I feel bad for what I did to make us not friend anymore
If I could go there I would fixed it
You make me very happy on the Valentines Day
I got wrong signals that you like me more than a friend
You did it because you want to know how you felt about me
I will never forget you
You are the guy will never meant to hurt me

When I listen to my favorite songs, it bring back memories about you
It's hard to forget you
I can't move on no matter what I tried and accept you like a friend
I can't, and I want you be my boyfriend, but I can't force you to
I will never forget you
I had so many good memories

I will always feel sad when I heard your name or sad song that remind me of you
Although we are in different city
Is just that apart of me is still over there, and
Part of me is just wishing you were here with me
It will never be the same
I will never forget you
You were one of kind

When this feeling happen, I just to hold it in
I want to be by myself and think
There's nothing I can't do
I had to leave it alone and live my life
I want to show you that I can be a better friend
It was is and leave at that
We both are in good place right now
It fun while it last
I will never forgot you

My Best Friend

When everything is wrong I'll come talk to you
You make things alright when I'm feeling blue
You are such a blessing and I wont be messing
with the one thing that brings light to all of my darkness
You are my best friend
and I love you, and I love you
Yes I do
There is no other one that can take your place
I feel happy inside when I see your face
I hope you believe me
Because I speak sincerely
and I mean it when I tell you I need you
You are my best friend
and I love you, and I love you
Yes I do
I'm here right beside you
I will never leave you
and I feel the pain you feel when you start crying
You are my best friend
and I love you, and I love you
Yes I do
You are my best friend
and I love you, and I love you
Yes I do
Yes I do...
Yes I do

Talk To Me

After it was over, after the crying
And all the angry shouting
When we'd both just given up
And you turned and closed the door
I didn't know what was wrong
Anymore than I did before
Maybe it was over
When you stopped trying
Or when I started doubting
Maybe you don't care enough
Maybe I'm just scared you'll go
But maybe what was really wrong
Is that I still don't really know
Talk to me quietly, peacefully
Tell me what to do
Talk to me honestly, don't you see
I need to talk to you
I need to hear that we're okay
And say the things that I meant to say
So talk to me before
Before it's really over
When it all was starting
When I first met you
We couldn't keep from talking
I knew everything you felt
And I felt you knew me too
Now I'm talking to myself
Or I'm just yelling back at you
How this could have happened
How I could lose you
Or you could think to leave me
After where we started from
I'm too dumb I guess to see
But you can't go 'till I do
And you know
You owe that to me
Talk to me quietly, peacefully
I don't wanna fight
Talk to me nice and slow
So I'll know
How to make it right
I'm not afraid to take the blame
I'm just afraid we'll stay the same
And we won't talk until
Until it's really over
I don't understand
Why you're always mad
What could I have done
What could be so bad
Don't you wanna know
Why I never sleep
Look what we've become
From all these secrets that we keep
When it's really over
'cause I can't take it
Or you've walked out
For the last time
When these years are just a dream
And these tears somehow have dried
I can't wake up in my bed
And regret what we never tried
So please don't say it's over
Don't even think it
Just think about the good times
Think of all we've got to lose
And not who's done what to who
And when it comes time to chose
Think of who would still die for you
Talk to me quietly, peacefully
Make me understand
Say what you need to say
Find a way
Take me by the hand
The only thing I ask of you
Is please, for once, just listen too
And talk to me before
Before it's really over
Talk to me
Before it's really over

I'm Gonna Have A Little Talk

I'm gonna have a little talk with Jesus
When I get home tonight
Gonna tell him all about my troubles
And I know he'll make them right
Then I'll ask him to forgive me
For the things that I've done wrong
Gonna have a little talk with Jesus
Tonight when I get home
This world can be a struggle
Just livin' day to day
You'll run into the devil
With every step you take
I seen his face a hundred times
As he tried to lead me wrong
He don't understand
That I don't walk this road alone
I'm gonna have a little talk with Jesus
When I get home tonight
Gonna tell him all about my troubles
And I know he'll make them right
Then I'll ask him to forgive me
For the things that I've done wrong
Gonna have a little talk with Jesus
Tonight when I get home
Lord said I could call on him
When ever I feel low
Any time or place I needed him
He would gladly go
My life has not been perfect
No matter how I try
But he's never turned his back on me
And that's the reason why
I'm gonna have a little talk with Jesus
When I get home tonight
Gonna tell him all about my troubles
And I know he'll make them right
Then I'll ask him to forgive me
For the things that I've done wrong
Gonna have a little talk with Jesus
Tonight when I get home
I'm gonna have a little talk with Jesus
When I get home tonight
Gonna tell him all about my troubles
And I know he'll make them right
Then I'll ask him to forgive me
For the things that I've done wrong
Gonna have a little talk with Jesus
Tonight when I get home
I'm Gonna have a little talk with Jesus

Operation Spirit: The Tyranny Of Tradition

heard a lot of talk about the ocean
heard a lot of talk about the sea
heard a lot of talk about a lot of things
never meant that much to me
heard a lot of talk about my spirit
heard a lot of talk about my soul
but I decided that anxiety and pain
were better friends
so I let it go
did you let it go?
let's get it back.
let's get it back together.
heard a lot of talk about this jesus
a man of love, a man of strength
but what a man was two thousand years ago
means nothing at all to me today
he could have been telling me about my
higher self
but he only lives inside my prayer
so what he was may have been beautiful
but the pain is right now
and right here
let it go!
let it go!
let it go, my friend
and let's get it back
let's get it back together
