Restlessness
I have been blessed
With five senses-
To hear, touch, see, smell and taste,
But words fall inadequate
To express all that I experience,
Even if I take all the right ingredients.
Just as I always do
When I sit down to cook.
I first decide what the family will like to eat,
And then go shopping for the best vegetables and meat
Paying attention to colour and flavours
And washing them in running water with patience
Then chop, puree or make juliennes,
To stir fry them in a pan
I don’t have to measure the spices,
As I let it simmer the aroma rises
As the children walk in they can tell
It’s coming out quite well.
Years of experience
Has fine tuned my culinary skills
But I am still a novice at composing poems, I admit
And wonder when I will reach the finesse of likes of Keats?

Pork Chops are Fun
chop chop chop the pork squeals over dinner
with it's fatty bits and tasty bites
it marinates on a stick over hot coal
who will taste it first who will finish the bowl
Wow Pork Chops with red wine
then dinner will be divine
chop chop chop the pork is done
with ginger, wine and lots of fun
it's time to have with a salty bun
chop chop chop see it go in the oven my friends
it's dinner time lets eat it all
then lets sit together and have a ball
chop chop chop the pork tastes good
with the meat so tender it bloody weel should
sometimes on the pan sometimes as a roast
call your freinds for dinner it's a dish one can boast
chop chop chop the pork is done
sprikle a little wine to make things bright
then the meat put it on light
watch it burn and tremble with delight
chop chop chop my pork chops are done

Education is not experience.
Experiment is not experience.
A going through is experience.
Durable are you by experience.
You should cook to be a cook

It's Not The Same Anymore
The same address, the same front door,
The same furnishings that were here before,
The same coloured walls, the same wooden floor,
So why dosnt it feel like home anymore.
There used to be voices chatting and laughing,
There used to be toy's clunking and clacking
There used to be kid's causing a riot,
There used to be life here
But now its so quiet.
There's no family shopping,
There's no family washing,
There's no family to sit down for tea,
There's no family here any more,
All thats left is me.
I so wish i was doing the family shopping,
I so wish there was a moutain of washing
I so wish i could be cooking the tea,
I so wish my kid's were still here with me.

The Milkman Cometh
When I see the milkman coming,
I don’t experience an intending.
That logically is the upsumming
up messages that I’d be sending,
but if I stopped to ask him where
he might be heading with the jug,
intention with him I would share,
and could not longer this offshrug.
Written while checking the proofs of my forthcoming book, Legal Friction: Law, narrative and Identity Politics in Biblical Israel:
inspired by words of Ludwig Wittgenstein that I cite on page 52:
When I see the milkman coming, I fetch my jug and go to meet him. Do I experience an intending? Not that I know of. (Any more than I try to walk, in order to walk.) But if I stopped and asked, “Where are you going with that jug? ” I should express my intention.

Widow is as Fresh
Love that you experience with one now
Isn’t hampered by the love pursued elsewhere
As the taste of mango you experience
Is not impaired by the taste had earlier.
When you taste a mango in hand
You don’t recall the taste in the past.
Senses enjoy what is presented.
A widow acts as much a first wife.

I love to cook comfort food. I'll make fish and vegetables or meat and vegetables and potatoes or rice. The ritual of it is fun for me, and the creativity of it.

How To Fall In Love, Pt. 1
I got a bad sensation
The enemy is all around
The traces of my naked heart
Are laid upon the ground
I suffered side effects
That might have been forever
Even in my dreams
And i was left alone to pray
When there was no one in the way
And nothin' what it seemed
And from a hard time, play time
Took a trip around the world
Made myself invisible
The taste was in the wine
And just when the thought of someone
Needing me forever
I don't believe the words are true
That only she could be my savior
Experience is not enough
I'll show you how to fall in love
She said experience is not enough
I'll show you how to fall in love
And she's all alone with me
Every night
And lighting all my days of sorrow
On my own
If there was any more to give
You know i'd sacrifice it for her
And in the prime of my life
I was blessed and i was sent
Someone sweet and innocent
And nervous when she kissed
And in the face of my
Forbidden fruit forever
Miracles are mine
And knowing i'm the first
In her secret universe
There's no sense of space and time
You take a small town, young girl
Someone warm and wonderful
That any man would understand
That love is like the wind
Something deep inside to give you
And when the words get in the way
The only thing you need is silence
Experience is not enough
I'll show you how to fall in love
She said experience is not enough
I'll show you how to fall in love

Do I Love to Eat?
Do I love to eat?
Well,
I will put it more like this...
My grandmother Clara,
And my grandfather Charles...
Blessed all of their children.
And each one is no stranger to the kitchen.
On rare and special occasions...
A few of us may be seen dining out.
And IF we owned a family restaurant,
Many of us would go broke...
Before paid customers tasted a thing.
Do I love to eat?
I love to cook!
And when my family has gatherings...
Looking good is not all we offer.
Being both biased and proud,
I am grateful to be related to these folks.
And I say that to be heard when speaking outloud.
Do I love to eat?
Just as much as I love the quality of my life.
I would like to think of my experience as a treat.
Than something to feel guilty about.
When my sisters bake,
And my aunts, uncles and cousins make...
Anything that melts with each taste,
I'm never forced to put into my mouth.
I try to silence the wonderment,
That eventually slips out.
Do I love to eat?
Well...
It is the resting between varieties,
I most dislike when teased!

Refusing Lessons To Them Given
I have never understood,
Those who pay to sit in classrooms...
Refusing lessons to them given.
To then declare what is being taught,
And the experience of the teacher...
Who provides a strained patience,
Is inadequate for them to digest.
And the teacher commited,
Has to listen to those too ignorant...
To respect or silence themselves.
Or speak or write correctly!
But wish to express their intelligence,
To impress others.

In The Comfort Of Logic
so you live in the comforts
of logic
you see what you get
you only know what you can measure
believe only in what you can see
and touch
and conceive in your mind
on the specifications of width
length and breadth
it is indeed comfortable
everything is fixed and certain
there is always a sum
an amount
and one can always predict
with accuracy what happens next
but my friend
not every object
every man
every shaking experience
every mysterious circumstance
around you is embraced by logic
sometimes
we must admit that when we love
we love without measure
sometimes when we fear
and surrender
we miss something
and we cannot explain
some things are at the tips of
out tongues
some events merely slip from
our fingers like
sand & water
and air
there are 'x' factors out there
and when we fall and bleed
and hurt and die
the numbers do not work
for us anymore
they have become some kind
of miracles outlived
their magic gone

The Assasin
Now the contracts out
Theyve out the word about
Im coming after you
Its not the money I make
Its the thrill of the chase
And Im coming after you
I watch you every move
Study the things you do
And the pattern of your ways
I watch you walk you walk
I hear your telephone talk
I want to understand the way you think
Better watch out cos Im the assassin
Better watch out better watch out
Better watch out cos Im the assassin
Better watch out better watch out
Im in a cold sweat
I taste the smell of death
I know the moments getting closer
And as you walk to the light
I feel my hands go tight
Excitement running through my veins
Ive got you in my sights
Ive got you dead to rights
The triggers waiting for my fingers
I feel adrenalin rush
Its just the final touch
You can kiss your arse goodbye

Senses Working Overtime
Hey, hey,
The clouds are whey.
Theres straw for the donkeys,
And the innocents can all sleep safely,
All sleep safely.
My, my,
Sun is pie.
Theres fodder for the cannons,
And the guilty ones can all sleep safely,
All sleep safely.
And all the world is football-shaped
Its just for me to kick in space
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste
And Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in.
Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference
tween a lemon and a lime
Pain and the pleasure
And the church bells softly chime.
Hey hey,
Night fights day.
Theres food for the thinkers,
And the innocents can all live slowly,
All live slowly.
My, my,
The sky will cry
Jewels for the thirsty,
And the guilty ones can all die slowly ,
All die slowly.
And all the world is biscuit-shaped,
Its just for me to feed my face,
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste,
And Ive got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in.
Ive got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference,
tween a lemon and a lime,
Pain and the pleasure,
And the church bells softly chime,
And birds might fall from black skies,
And bullies might give you black eyes,
But to me its very, very beautiful
(englands glory!)
Beautiful
(a striking beauty!)
And all the world is football-shaped,
Its just for me to kick in space,
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste,
And Ive got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in
Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to tell the difference
tween the goods and grime
Turds and treasure
And theres one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in
Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime

When a Readiness Is Set to Deliver
Two people may begin to cook,
What looks to be the same thing.
And to those witnessing,
It may be observed to be that way.
Even though a presentation,
Has yet to be made!
But one who is familiar,
And knows what is required...
To get 'that' desired taste.
Will know it is the ingredients used,
To seduce with just the right flavor.
And making mistakes is what it takes.
And there is a difference between...
The ease by which something seen,
Seems to be done.
And the experience by one,
Who knows...
When a readiness is set to deliver.
And no time sooner...
Than that!

Cook Your Poem
Cook it simple
Cook it short
Blend it with passion
Knead it with ingredients
Let it simmer
Let it boil
Let the images prevail
behind the bubbles.
Serve it with colors
And let it look more palatable.

Wade IN The Water
I admit to once being an alcoholic.
Needing to drink wine everyday...
When in the 1970's.
And I smoked more weed,
Than I believed could be grown.
I wouldn't and couldn't touch that mess,
Today.
Too many chemicals added.
And...
I can't think of anyone,
Who has experimented sexually...
With both men and women.
And please don't ask me my preference.
I don't want to seem confused about the issue.
Name a sickness or disease.
I know I had to have had it.
I have had military experience,
To prove I am patriotic.
Plus I loved my parents so much...
I sacrificed my own life to be at their side.
'That's great news.
Glad to hear this.
But...
What is the purpose?
What is your intent? '
I may consider running for public office.
And I can not think of anyone else...
More qualified than I.
I am not one to profess to walk on water.
'Then...
Why are you standing in the middle of that pool?
To prove,
What? '
Oh,
I can wade IN the water.
But I have not determined,
The best way to walk ON it...
Yet!
'What about your religious beliefs? '
Why do you think I am wading,
In the middle of this pool?
That should answer your question,
And remove any doubt you have...
About me being a believer.

Running Wild
I move as fast as I can
I like to get around
Im crazy like a madman
My feet dont touch the ground
I move amongst the night life
And they just step aside
Cause when they see me coming
They know Im running wild
Dead or alive theres nothing
That bothers me at all
I take on all comers
They back off or they fall
They raise their hands to stop me
I laugh and I defy
Cause whats the point in living
Unless youre living wild
No chains can hold me down
I always break away
I never hear society
Tell me what to do or say
I taste the life that pleases me
And raise a storm for all the world to see I never stumble, never fall
Never stop for rest
I rebell but I walk tall
And I demand respect
I move amongst the nightlife
And they just step aside
Cause when they see me coming
They know Im running wild
Im running wild
Im running wild
Get outta my way
Im running wild
Im running wild
You better believe it
Wild...

Dottie Waits for Willie.
Dottie wishes Willie would
return home. All night she
had twisted and turned in
his bed. She looks out of
the window of their cottage
for the postie to come with
a letter from her brother,
but there is no sight or sign.
She sighs. Later she will prepare
one of his favourite pies. He'll
bring Sammy and they'll go
for walks and talk and smell
flowers and hear the birdsongs
and sit beneath trees and study
the sky. She moves to the kettle
and switches it on and prepares
a cup of tea. One teabag, two
sugars, a small spill of milk.
She sips and thinks. If Willie
were here now he'd lay his head
on her shoulder and read her
one of his poems. She likes it when
he reads her one of his poems.
She knows them because she
scribbles them down as he recites
them as they walk along. I can't
write sitting down, he often told her.
I need to walk and breathe the
air and hear the songs of birds.
She sits and imagines him there
beside her, his head on her
shoulder as if a pillow, his
vibrating voice moving inside her.
She senses a headache coming,
feels the tremors along her nerves
like a coming storm. It is a time
of bleeds. The moon's pull drags
her down. If Willie were here he'd
say, Go lay down and I will come
bring you pills and water and kiss
it better. But her brother is away
bringing Sammy. The clouds are
gathering, dark grey and heavy,
the sky becoming black, oh, she
says, if only my Willie was back.

Cooking Of A Poetry
I eat her style,
I eat her smile,
I eat her walk,
I eat her talk.
My eyes hook
To eat her look,
We be on couch
To eat her touch.
I eat her fashion,
I eat her passion,
I eat her feelings,
The moments reeling.
Gobble the words,
Swallow proverbs,
Pour the spices
Of depth, conciseness,
Creativity, metaphor,
Rhythm and meter,
Cook deep in heart,
Stir in brain with intellect.
To serve, poetry is ready.
If you want to eat, eat
Whatever have eaten
On document I depict.

What A Red Rose Can Do?
What a flower, what a surprise,
When before our eyes, a rose may arise!
What is the feeling, what it is,
That make us want, someone to kiss!
Is that the atmosphere, is that the smell,
That catches our senses so well ?
Poems have expressed, so much to a Rose,
By many words and rhymes, in their course,
That lovers from everywhere,
Had made the Rose, their Romantic Care!
And now, we both, give each one a Rose,
And express our love, in Poems and Prose!
