One Stormy Night

As I heard sound of footsteps outside my door
I stifled my sobs in my throat
And pretended to be fast asleep
As I like to deal privately with my grief.

My apartment faced the sea shore
I could hear the sound of a heavy downpour.
The sea was tumultuous and rough
It was scary to see the waters rise several meters up.

Was it also going into convulsions to express its protest?
I wondered as I lay feeling bereft.
Waves and waves of emotions engulfed me
And I felt I will drown in the sea

Of my sorrow, or my heart will burst.
Whatever happened to my passion and lust
For life, I asked as painful memories resurged.
How did I allow myself to be submerged

In this deluge of grief unplugged?
Demented, I just helplessly shrugged.
Night was the only witness as I exorcised my demons,
crying with me- non judgemental, and no sermons.

Is this what Nature is compelled to do
When it feels degraded by me and you?
Is this why we have hurricanes and floods,
So we wake up when we lose our flesh and blood?

A new day had dawned, streets were deserted,
Trees were uprooted, I stoically studied.
After the damage and harm
There was an uncanny calm.

I stood in anguish at my window
And mechanically glanced at the fisherman’s colony below.
busy salvaging whatever they could from the debris.
I know I too shall rise from the ashes like a proverbial phoenix.

The doorbell rang, milkman had arrived.
I washed all traces of tears and put on a smile.
Sun was trying to peep from behind the clouds
from the distance I could hear temple bells resound.

The Footsteps

Eagles of coral
adorn the ebony bed
where Nero lies fast asleep
callous, happy, peaceful,
in the prime of his body's strength,
in the fine vigour of youth.

But in the alabaster hall that holds
the ancient shrine of the Aenobarbi
how restless the household deities!
The little gods tremble
and try to hide their insignificant bodies.
They've heard a terrible sound,
a deadly sound coming up the stairs,
iron footsteps that shake the staircase;
and, faint with fear, the miserable Lares
scramble to the back of the shrine,
shoving each other and stumbling,
one little god falling over another,
because they know what kind of sound that is,
know by now the footsteps of the Furies.

Footsteps

Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
Whenever trouble comes around
Or lonely nights lead underground
And far in the dark
Abandoned cars suddenly start up
An anxious sound
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
When loneliness induces fear
Like waves against a
Ramshackle pier
When thunder and rain
Scar the windowpane once again
I want you near
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Im longing to see you
I want you, I need you
Like a child who feels afraid
Of the dark at night
Hoping to hear a gentle touch
Turning on a welcome light
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps

I Wish You Were Here

Footsteps, I can hear footsteps in the hall
I hear footsteps, seems like Ive been through this before
Some time has come now, some time has passed
But things still look the same
Is heaven all above, and paradise below
And the questions still remain
Ooh, can we see you?
Ooh, are we near you?
How could you disappear out of here?
I wish for something, I wish you were here
Footsteps, I can hear footsteps in the hall
I hear footsteps, it seems like Ive been through this before
Well we loved you then, I guess we always will
We love you still from here
Birds of a feather always stay together
And never separate, no fear
Ooh, can we see you?
Ooh, are we near you?
How could you disappear out of here?
I wish for something, I wish for something
I wish you were here, I wish you were here
I wish you well
Footsteps, I can hear footsteps in the hall
I hear footsteps, seems like Ive been through this before
If all the world was turning blue and gold
Like through your eyes so clear
The time has come to celebrate our past
And crystalize this sphere
Ooh, can we see you?
Ooh, are we near you?
How can you disappear out of here?
I wish for something
Ooh, can we see you?
Ooh, are we near you?
How can you disappear out of here?
I wish for something
I wish you were here, I wish you were here
I wish you well
There will come a day
Oh some day our day will come
Our day will come, our day will come

The Obvious

We didn't deny the obvious
but we didn't entirely accept it either

We said hello to it each morning in the foyer
we patted its little head as it made a mess in the backyard
but we never nurtured it.

Many nights the obvious showed up at our bedroom door in its pajamas
unable to sleep, in need of a hug

and we just stared at it like an Armenian
or even worse hid beneath the covers
and pretended not to hear its tiny sobs.

The Sounds

i heard the sound of the clock ticking
some things come
i am remembering these some things
burnt, and melting in my forehead,
i like the sound of the ticking of grandfather's
clock at night, i hear footsteps
and drippings of water
from the gutter to the floor

the window is closed and the wind makes
the sound of someone caught between
door jambs, creaking sounds creeping
on the wall, something is terrible, really terrible
and i turn my body to the left side,

there is this storm, and the strong rain comes
with the grunting wind, and trees are falling
unto each other, i hear leaves and twigs,
and the roof wanting to leave the house,

something is terribly happening on this night
of the suicidal darkness, the shimmer of the river
looks like a stainless knife

who's there? i ask the door. The mirror on the other
side answers, how dare you?

it is nobody. it is just myself, my mouth answers.

But No More

The time is now or never
The crashing is coming near
The delphi is on the corner
And he whispers in your ear
It used to be men could be solemn even while laughing
And laughter could be heard shore to shore
But no more
Now all you hear is crying
Cause no one's on the phone
Your feet are just now freezing over
You know that you are here all alone
It used to be men could be solemn even while laughing
And laughter could be heard shore to shore
But no more
When I think of friends and places
Things we wanted, hoped we'd be
All that's left is fading traces
Memories of what use to be
Hear their laughter, see their shadows
Feel the darkness, see the light
We had lit all but lost so quickly
We think we won but we lost the fight
But it's all the same to me
I've seen all I want to see
First they laugh at you
Then they cry
Say they'll always be there
Then they die
So alone yet so alive
It used to be men could be solemn even while laughing
And laughter could be heard shore to shore
But no more

Forgotten Ship

A wind tossed ship lost at sea
heavy tempest blowing mightily
even that harbor light
which shines so bright
never to return my love to me

The sea, that judgmental sea
claimed the one promised to me
and no one who heard it could explain
the mysterious sound the waves made

The lighthouse searches the sound
for that forgotten ship never found
I walk the shipyard late and pray
to catch a glimpse of that familiar face

When the evening settles down, I sleep
an empty place beside me
lately having the same dream
I remember only partially

I hear a sound, forgotten yet familiar
I rise from my troubled slumber
and walk out to the open shore
which meets the sea as a door

I then see a man dragged to shore
drowned, why nobody knows
someone says it was insanity
trying to swim out to sea

The dream ends, I wake again
I listen to the sound the waves send
listening closer now to the bay
I hear my name called so faint

Walk Between The Raindrops

A shadow crossed the blue miami sky
As we hit the causeway by the big hotel
We fought
Now I cant remember why
After all the words were said and tears were gone
We vowed wed never say goodbye
When we kissed we could hear the sound of thunder
As we watched the regulars rush the big hotels
We kissed again as the showers swept the florida shore
You opened your umbrella
But we walked between the raindrops back to your door
In my dreams I can hear the sound of thunder
I can see the causeway by the big hotels
That happy day well find each other on that florida shore
Youll open your umbrella
And well walk between the raindrops back to your door...

Which shores I find thee?

Which shores I find thee?
Your footsteps lay at the heaven’s door...
Where no mortal soul could ever reach...

Do I trace the tune of harp...?
Or Albatross' flight...
O'er the night...
Through the horizon
The sky
Where lies your way, my beloved?

Across which dream I find thee...to life?
Which winter night, nigh your bosom flee?
Heard to it your breath...
I shall be awake...
On which temple's alter you offer your pray...
In which ground
Noons you play...
Where you have been?
Beckon...my heart shall know...

Heaven's doors not welcoming...
My all lies in its walls...
Which shore I find thee?
Your footsteps lie at the heaven's door...

Open The Door, Homer (1)

by Bob Dylan
Now, there's a certain thing
That I learned from Jim
That he'd always make sure I'd understand
And that is that there's a certain way
That a man must swim
If he expects to live off
Of the fat of the land.
Open the door, Homer,
I've heard it said before.
Open the door, Homer,
I've heard it said before
But I ain't gonna hear it said no more.
Now, there's a certain thing
That I learned from my friend, Mouse
A fella who always blushes
And that is that ev'ryone
Must always flush out his house
If he don't expect to be
Goin' 'round housing flushes.
Open the door, Homer,
I've heard it said before.
Open the door, Homer,
I've heard it said before
But I ain't gonna hear it said no more.
"Take care of all your memories"
Said my friend, Mick
"For you cannot relive them
And remember when you're out there
Tryin' to heal the sick
That you must always
First forgive them."
Open the door, Homer,
I've heard it said before.
Open the door, Homer,
I've heard it said before
But I ain't gonna hear it said no more.

Behind The Door

With trembling hand,
I knocked upon the door,
which someone had sent me to.
They told me a new life
awaits me there.
I reached out
and knocked on the door
not knowing when it opened
exactly what I’d find.
My heart beat faster,
almost racing from my chest.
I could hear footsteps
coming from within.
My hand trembled even more
as the footsteps headed towards the door.
I stood there in anticipations
as the door begins to open wide.
So far, I have not told you
who will be coming to the door.
Will it be a long lost sibling,
a future love, or even God?
I will have to let you decide,
because being a nervous person.
The suspense was killing me,
so I ran and hid, and never saw
who was it answering the door.

Ch 05 On Love And Youth Story 12

One of the ullemma had been asked that, supposing one sits with a moon-faced beauty in a private apartment, the doors being closed, companions asleep, passion inflamed, and lust raging, as the Arab says, the date is ripe and its guardian not forbidding, whether he thought the power of abstinence would cause the man to remain in safety. He replied: ‘If he remains in safety from the moon-faced one, he will not remain safe from evil speakers.’

If a man escapes from his own bad lust
He will not escape from the bad suspicions of accusers.
It is proper to sit down to one’s own work
But it is impossible to bind the tongues of men.

Augmentation Of Authenticity

You can follow in someone's footsteps,
To lay claims you have basked in the Sun.
Surrounded by shadows from you not cast.
You can do that for as long as you wish.
However,
You will not be the one to fall asleep as fast.
Not when you are seeking,
To track the footsteps place by another.
With a declaration made of your discoveries.
With a placement in a light you neither earned,
Or deserve.
Augmentation of authenticity eventually reveals itself.
For each Bacon there is a Shakespeare near.
Wanting the glory and fame by theft if necessary.

The Door's Grief

ah, the door's grief is not really brief,
it has been there since the hinges were fixed,
though it does not sound like an old man
grumbling, though its creaking sound
is hidden on a dropp of mechanical
oil,
there are those who still slam it
and out of too much fear
its grief lies hidden continually
on every closing

when you open it, it gives a respectable smile
yet you fail to understand
what was suppressed from what was not so valiantly expressed
there is no word for this
even the door cannot describe it
till this moment
when you close it again and again
as it becomes
another wall of the house again.

the noise at noon
can be heard
between our
distances

you walk too fast
and so i followed
the procession of
your footsteps

maybe it was i who
was too slow or maybe
it was you who was
walking too fast

and then i was thinking
things over between us
you are too fast for me
i decided to change
my direction looking
for the path who shall
embrace my slow steps

Crying

he says he likes to cry when
everyone is asleep when no one hears his sound
of grief anymore

he wants to keep this grief alone
thinking that no one understands anyway

no one wants a sorrow that will be shared
or a grief to be feasted upon

sometimes he says he cries when he is bathing
under a cold shower to cool his eyes

to appease his heart and when he steps out
of the bathroom

when someone notices how red his eyes are
he tells them that his shampoo has caused it all
