Child sells crackers to adults,
No sparkle in eyes…

Eyes Of A Child
The Eyes of a Child, so innocent and pure
A Child's heart is full of song
Take their tiny hands,
And lead them to the light
As Adults we see the pain in the world,
And sometimes it don't seem right.
But through the Eyes of a Child
The World seems magical
There's a sparkle in their eyes,
They've yet to realise,
The darkness in their soul.
..the Beauty of their smile
Adventurous and wild.
Life is kinda gay,
but it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.
So, don't give up
Even when the road seems long
Just find that child inside you
You've got to find you.
Spread your wings and fly, to the brightest star
If ya want, I can even get my friend Steve to detail your car
for about twenty bucks.
Through the Eyes of a Child
The World seems magical
There's a sparkle in their eyes,
They've yet to realise,
The darkness in their soul.
The Beauty of their smile,
Adventurous and wild.
Sure, life is kinda gay,
but it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.
Got an eye on my hand!
I've got an eye on my hand!
I've got an eye on my hand!
But still i cant find you!
An eye on my hand!
Where have you gone girl?
An eye on my hand!
I'm coming up behind you.
Eye on my hand!
Don't turn around now,
Cause I'm right there,
I'm coming up behind you!
Through the Eyes of a Child
The World seems magical
There's a sparkle in their eyes,
We've yet to realise,
The bastards they really are!
The Beauty of their smile,
Adventurous and wild.
Sure, life is kinda gay,
But it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.
Sure, life is kinda gay,
but it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.

Sparkle
Sparkle, theres gotta be a sparkle
For you to love somebody
For you to really know
Brighter than the lights in the city
Its more than being pretty
The way you are inside
Why are you cryin
Somebodys tryin
To be with you only all the time
You hide behind tears
Counting the fears
Youre so used to being alone
Sparkle, theres gotta be a sparkle
For you to love somebody
For you to really know
Sparkle, you got a certain sparkle
I know I love somebody
I gotta let it show
(instrumental break)
Nobody knows you
They cant get too close to
A girl who wont let down her disguise
You wont believe how much someone could love you
That someone is looking in your eyes
Sparkle, its gotta be a sparkle
For you to love somebody
For you to really know
Brighter than the lights of the city
Its more than being pretty
Its the way you feel inside
Sparkle

Sonnet: Adults
Adults are selfish beings of the earth;
Adults don’t forgive/ forget tho’ mature;
Adults are creatures adamant by birth;
Adults are jealous beings, by nature.
Adults have arguing tongues till the end;
Adults misunderstand others with ease;
Adults can neither condescend nor bend;
Adults cannot adjust with/others please.
Adults are sinful in thought, word and deed
Adults are the ones, misguiding the youth;
Adults are beings revengeful indeed;
Adults can speak effortlessly untruth.
Adults advise but remember old fights;
Adults cannot give up their insane rights!

Festivity For The Demise Of A Demon!
The streets are crowded with festival customers,
Who hold their precious torn currency and the polymers,
No difference on these roads as rich and poor,
Every one of them walks side by side not in despair
To buy something to celebrate the festival of lights,
Each state has its own tale as a proof to celebrate,
Mostly the evil was destroyed by the good,
And the wish of an evil person is being fulfilled,
As a festival, having the oil bath and firecrackers,
Wearing the new clothes for the demise of a wicked,
The old and young, healthy and sick, men and women,
Children and adults group together as families,
To wake up before sun rise, to follow the same rituals,
Our ancestors have done on thousands of new moon,
Of the specific month, though we chased away the terror,
The demons are found everywhere on the streets,
Which haunt our souls and weak bodies with no fright,
We are happy in our hearts with what little we have,
As we are proud to be bonded with lights of love,
That light up our mind to witness suffering of others,
As we always share not only our love, but also the woe.

Sonnet: Diwali
Today’s the `Festival of Lights’ all o’er;
A joyful day for minds and hearts and souls;
And people throng the Temples to offer,
Prayers, resolving to take better roles.
And most of them are richly clad and clean,
And eat such dainty foods and sweets with mirth;
Whilst noisy crackers burst, their lights are seen,
It seems to be a happy day on Earth!
But are there not hearts woe-filled, very sad?
Denied of laughter, smiles for days;
Today’s the triumph of Good over bad;
But what about the wastage in much ways?
True joy is when you see someone else smile!
True charity gives joy in Heav’nly style.

She was stubborn
We were fighting numbers
I exactly recollect and remember
Mother had left some crackers
I accepted it like joker
I was fooled to believe
That cracker were over
The festival of light* (Dipawali) was coming on
The shopkeeper had closed shop and gone
In fact mother was afraid
I may pick up powerful crackers that were laid
It was plan they both had hatched and put in
I was given less powerful crackers much to my grin
I picked up one of unexploded cracker
It looked as if was not ignited proper
As soon as I picked up it in hand
It exploded and gave thick smoke of smoke and sand
I just closed the eyes and sat down
Eyes were getting big light circles unknown
They feared some partial blindness may take place
I was hurriedly taken to check up the case
Some of the fesivals certainly need precaution
Why this had occurred to me out of any relation?
Some of the festivals are celebrated with much fun fare
Elders think so much and do not allow the kids to dare
Mother took me to embrace as she was little worried
I consoled her as if nothing had happened
It was just a casual recurrence
She was assured everything with confidence
She smile with much of satisfaction
I was happy too with her indication
She was kind, generous and stubborn
Nothing could move her with little concern

Diwali 2009
The 'Festival of Lights'
Has come again this year;
Let’s see the glorious sights
That cause revelry dear!
It marks the victory
of good over evil;
’Tis time to eat sweet food,
And have great deal of fun.
’Tis time to wear new clothes,
And burst crackers of kinds;
’Tis time to share our joy
With all, we see around!

Remain among
Along with the rest
Today is festival of lights
We shall celebrate it with joy and rights
Complete home will be illuminated
Well decorated with clean walls and pained
Whole of country is in jovial mood
Many in remote parts may be without food
Curse the crackers sound as cruel joke
Dream is visualized in thick smoke
Poverty is inherited with his blessings
Life is short of something and missing
Some are blessed with sun’s light
Some may be sleeping on sky’s dark delight
It has nothing to do with festival
They have definite message on their arrival
It is sincere wish to cross over to sunny side
From dark to bright even though the gulf will be wide
Millions of rupees may be spent just on big sounds
Sky may be lighted with sirens and star rounds
It will be filled with only smoke and gas all over
Poor may be watching it on ground without any cover
It has nothing to with somebody’s good fortune
They have everything an d delight it with favorable tune
Poor man’s belly will develop only cramps
H will sleep empty stomach much to the light of our lamps
If some of us can ignite little hope for future
Assure them of little hut as God’s creature
Some respect to assuage feeling and little care
He may surely be delighted with complete star
It may look ridiculous to advise or suggest
But it is long drawn battle and simple quest
If we can walk along with the rest
All the festivals and crackers may sound very best

Star Gazing with You
as a child
later as an adult
in the wild hills
swooping down
the distant sea
star-spangled nights
choked me
by their
profusion
this city, grayed
by smoke
smitten by
festival crackers
shut its skies
to me
till you named
each star
their constellation
their myriad colours
mysteries…
with smoke rings
swiveling up the sky
I was a star gazer,
no longer alone

I remember in 1968 when we were in Cannes, in the festival, and we were supposed to be there 10 days, and the second day the festival collapsed because the French, you know, film-makers raised the red flag in the festival and ended the festival.

Part of the reason for the ugliness of adults, in a child's eyes, is that the child is usually looking upwards, and few faces are at their best when seen from below.

Deepavali – The Festival Of Lights, 2011
Light the lamps and adorn your home;
The ‘Festival of Lights’ has come;
Make the sweetmeats and food dainty;
Dress in new clothes, looking pretty!
Share the joy with neighbours around;
Light the crackers, making great sound;
Throng the temples, heartily pray;
Good has won o’er evil today.
Let love of men and divine love,
Enrich your mind and heart, soul now;
Spread the light to dispel darkness;
Let life be filled with happiness!

4. Its Crackers
Twenty four gold Christmas crackers
Wrapped with a pretty red bow
Placed on the table for Christmas
To brighten things up don’t you know
All guests get seated together
With comments on such a fine spread
But should they pull crackers to start with
Or leave them till later instead
The children decide for the grown ups
Each one grabs a cracker and pull
Wide eyed they wait for the winners
But crackers were empty not full
Not one single comical riddle
A cheap plastic toy or crepe crown
All twenty four gold Christmas crackers
Left all of my guests with a frown

An aside on the Vedanta Paribhasha of Dharmaraja Adhvarindra
A child with shining eyes,
eyes as alert as any wild creature
guarding its life; free as a human child
who’s loved and watched for,
walks along the beach. In the morning sun
shells, newly washed by the receding tide,
sparkle in the morning sun.
A distant sparkle, noted among many,
continues to sparkle. Bend down and pick it up,
sandy, a dropp of water held in perfect curve;
is it a shell, nacreous in many shades
as it’s lifted to the light, beautiful as if
the Creator had made it only at the dawn today?
or is it a silver dish from that liner that went down,
shaped as a shell, stamped SS Perpetua?
And is it silver-plated from the lower deck,
or solid silver from the first-class deck?
What does the child care? Seeing with
a child’s pure eye, that shell’s more beautiful –
-tells more about the world – than any silversmith
could make?
Carrying whatever it is, the child returns to home;
shining eyes remind the parents of that time
when all the world spoke truth made visible
that knowledge, consciousness, and bliss
are what truth tells, and lives, and is.

a Child
God gives a child
for a while as a gift to you
to keep in your arms.
It may be for eighty years
or maybe time is measured out
much shorter,
but a time will come that he or she
will go back to the dust
from where new life comes.
The life of the child
will put sparkle in every day
and to see love in the eyes of that child,
will make your life unforgettable
and you will feel as if you are touching immortality
if you raise that child in His ways.

Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? (live)
What do you mean, "I don't believe in God"?
I talk to him every day.
What do you mean, "I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean, "I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, "I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?
If there's a new way,
I'll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.
What do you mean, "I hurt your feelings"?
I didn't know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, "I ain't kind"?
I'm just not your kind.
What do you mean, "I couldn't be president,
Of the United States of America"?
Tell me something, it's still "We the people", right?
If there's a new way
I'll be the first in line,
But, it better work this time.
Can you put a price on peace?
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
No, peace sells

Every Body Is So Engrossed In Merry Making
The festival of light
Depaawali has come
Everyone is having good fun
Sweets
And mouth watering
Dishes
Are filling their appetite
Crackers and fire work
Are making
Young and old happy
Who are not bothered?
About the pollution
They are causing
Every body is so engrossed
In merry making
They are even forgetting
The poor and hungry

See The Light
Well I came down here from manhattan
to see the lights on the mall
but when I got here early this morning
well I couldn't see any at all
so I walked a little further
and much to my surprise
there was a hot cool woman
in a chevy staring into my eyes
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
Alright
She said now don't walk any further
Just jump into my car
And we can head on down the highway
But you'd better not go too far
'Cos my daddy he's big business
So we've gotta be back by tonight
But we can still have some fun now
If we head on downtown to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
Well, we ended up in this cafe
'Bout twenty-five minutes to one
See, she took me to this nightclub
And the music went on and on
Well we were set down to get coffee
When in walked her old man
No matter how we tried to explain it well
We couldn't make him understand
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights
I've just got to see the lights

Starry Eyes
When she laughs
Shes got the power of a child in her eyes
And when you cry now
Shell hold you like a mans supposed to be held
I cant get into words how I feel
Get it right in this song now
I had to set her free
Needed a friend
Come back to me
Oh starry eyes
Oh, oh (repeat)
Standing alone in the light
You could see her cry
With a smile and a wink
And a sparkle in her eyes
She calmly sighed, I will be alright
Okay child youve had to take the pain
Of a man in the streets
You gotta let me in
Needed a friend
Even just for one night
Oh, starry eyes
Oh, oh (repeat)
Oh no, oh no, oh no
Oh, starry eyes
Oh, oh (repeat)
