Migration for different Reasons! ! ! !

A visitor on tree top,
On its way to warmer climes,
Surveys the urban scene;
Waits for morning to take off,
Restless for fresh water body.

On Return

Wearily, she puts down her bags.
She surveys the scene;
Another year,
A new class.

Yet, old friends
Have been working fervently
Since she left on sabbatical
So long ago.

At last, she smiles,
She surveys the scene;
Yes, it's going to be
An interesting year.

Restless

Restless mind
Restless heart
Restless soul,
In a restless body
Need some rest.

They all await death
To release them from
Their restless misery.

They’ll fly away
Into nothingness
Leaving behind…
Their lifeless body.

Pumping Water At The Old Well....

since there is no electricity
you pump water from the well,

it is still dark, and the chickens are still on the trees,
you sweat it out so you can have water in this village

memories keep flashing scene by scene
when you were once a young boy doing errands for mama

when you were ordered to take the morning bath
but you simply ignored it and climbed instead the balimbing tree

the branch gave way and there you fell
mama was hysterical as you lost consciousness

your memory stopped right there and then
you were always a disobedient boy and now a man

it seems that there is still no difference to speak of
and you remember someone wise enough to say that the child has always been the father of man

you pump more water and now you know what this really means.

The Warmer Side Of Cool

(jack hues)
Well Im sitting on a hillside
On the warmer side of cool
With the future laid before me
Like a green and misty jewel
And to climb above the tree line
Is only for the fools
So they say
So they say
Chorus:
On the warmer side of cool
What you feel in your heart is all
On the warmer side of cool
Being cool its so easy to be cold
Well Im sitting by the seaside
On the warmer side of cool
With the ocean spread before me
Like a blue and misty jewel
And if I jump into the water
Would an angel break my fall
So they say
So they say
On the warmer side of cool
What you feel in your heart is all
Im sorry if I offend you
If Im a little bit intense
But I never did intend us
To be sitting on the fence
And even though Im guilty
Of making total sense
Im happy when its all
On the warmer side of cool
Repeat chorus
It aint cool to be cold

Living in awareness! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Perception
A bird perched on bare tree top, surveys urban scene.
Wind sneaks in through crevices, in winter unseen.
Autumn leaf aboard the breeze, how with ease it falls.
Sights and quiet help to unwind, on instant recall.

Serenity
Now sombre, now it seems playful; nature mimics life.
My colourful dreams at night help me overcome strife.
On a trip to Uttaranchal, on banks of Ganges,
I felt tranquil as we drove up mountain ranges.

Joy
Night was out of fairy tale, watching starlit sky.
Eased myself out of the bed, feeling on a high.
Symphony of colours, forms waits with much fanfare.
Tying my white boot laces, brace for the chill in air.

Bliss
A vacation here uplifts and fills me with cheer.
Take off my boots feel the dew, a bench beckons near.
Nourished, feel calm and blissful, here, in abode of god.
Live your life abundantly, subtle cues I hear, Lord.

Ode to Rheynette

My friend who was slain by those who oppose peace in our coutry

Under the shade of the Water mount, stood
A tree that was planted and watered of God
It grew to a size that Cedars would envy
And more so in beauty and splendor strength

The tree in the wind would stand as a rock
Even in water and flood
And in it and on it and round it would flock
The weary the burdened and sick and the restless
The ones in need of the work of The Blood

The tree would give comfort
The tree did give peace
For the tree was a planting, a working of Him
It often was seen waving and smiling
Inspired by the Breeze
Moving the branches with the greatest of ease

The village and townsmen and leaders oft choose
To sit in the shade and let hair loose
A drink or a biscuit a cake or a meal
Seemed sweeter and warmer and pleasant by the bark
Which also kept carved secrets safe in the dark

Selah

Now rejoicing and singing and crying they came
To witness the Keeper of forest and plain
Put ax to the tree and bring it down low
And form from this gentle, choicest off wood
A living and shining more glorious tree
Eternal in garden
By Her dear Forrester there she then stood

Soli Deo Gloria

The Poem Is Restless In Me

THE POEM IS RESTLESS IN ME

The poem is restless in me-
It waits to be heard-
Now that it comes
It does not feel especially happy about itself.
It knows it is not real-
It is not much-
Just because it is called a poem by me
Does not make it a poem -
The mind has its own place-
My mind also -
I am always thinking poems are with me,
And poems waiting to come-
But who am I and what do I know?
These lines are written in the still of the morning
When the light outside still brings hope
That a new day is possible.
But so many poems have been written in the early morning
And I am so old from hearing them said to me by myself-
And what does it all mean anyway in the end when God is the Only One?
And who am I to know what God is, or invoke the name of God
In such a small thing as my own poetry?

That Body Of Water Is Mine

That body of water is mine now
Because God gave it to me
So that I could swim
In that body of water
But he said that I am not allowed
To let the boats in
The body of water
Because that would pollute the water
And he wants to have
That body of water protected
And I told God that I was going to do that
By declaring that body of water
A natural habitat for marine life
God had answered me back by saying
That would be a wonderful Idea
And I was pleased by his answer

Restless

I dont belong to no one
I dont belong at all
Got my face in the corner
Got my back to the wall
And pretty baby Im restless, restless
Restless through and through
Im restless, restless
You look restless too
Im a hair trigger lover
And I cant face up to nothing
Im impatient with the wind
But Im waitin here for somethin
And pretty baby Im restless, restless
Restless through and through
Im restless, restless
You look restless too
Restless sleep, twisted dreams
Moving targets, silent screams
Restless city, restless street
Restless you , restless me
Im a face at the window
Im a black satin sheet
And I cant stay warm
I stay out in the street
And pretty baby Im restless, restless
Restless through and through
Im restless, restless
You look restless too

In View of the Biblical Zoo

Over the tree line towards the valleys end
Abed Abed-Rabbo raises a hand
The farm he surveys, his father's before him
Has been past down for generations in keeping with custom

In view of the Biblical Zoo
A farm of olives trees is a refreshing contrast
Against an imposing backdropp of urban concrete
And an ever expanding city complex

But because of the need for living space
This established ecosystem is being replaced
And Abed Abed-Rabbo is now forced to abdicate
His precious Olive farm, with its one room sleeping cave

Against urban sprawl and concrete walls
Alone one man can not possibly stand
And any amount of compensation cannot match
The resulting environmental impact

Even if it appears we live comfortably
In reality it is, pseudo-security
Without air or water quality
In an ever expanding city

© Calac

Abed Abed-Rabbo – A Palestinian farmer,48, inherited his farm full of olive trees overlooking the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo from his father and his grandfather.
The property in the village of Wallajeh, is situated on the southern edge of Jerusalem.
A decision to annex his farm full of olive trees into the city has been proposed due to the demand for apartment living space

To Robert Browning

There is delight in singing, though none hear
Beside the singer; and there is delight
In praising, though the praiser sits alone
And see the praised far off him, far above.
Shakespeare is not our poet, but the world's,
Therefore on him no speech! and brief for thee,
Browning! Since Chaucer was alive and hale
No man hath walked along our roads with step
So active, so inquiring eye, or tongue
So varied in discourse. But warmer climes
Give brighter plumage, stronger wing; the breeze
Of Alpine heights thou playest with, borne on
Beyond Sorrento and Amalfi, where
The Siren waits thee, singing song for song.

Take The Water To The Mountain

Take the water to the mountain;
Take the river to the sea.
Let the forest be salvation
Long before it needs to be.
Take the water to the mountain;
Let your body flow upstream.
Let it cascade off your shoulders;
Be the body of your dreams.
Take the water to the mountain;
Let the sun shine on your ground.
You decide your every movement;
Let the water to the land.
Take the water to the mountain;
Cross the great divide of love.
Give to nature all you can give;
Let the mother know your heart.
Take the water to the mountain;
Lets become alive again.
Holy water, holy mountain,
Holy river, holy tree.

The Best Day Of The Year

This morning very early I heard the magpie sing
And suddenly it dawned on me it's the first day of Spring
The dawning of September and on the stringybark
The white backed magpie whistled sweet music in the dark.

The first day of September the best day of the year
That is if you are living in the Southern Hemisphere
For Spring the Season of beauty and of greenery and youth
A time of bloom and grass growth when seedlings take to root

The Spring came in at midnight from places far away
She crept in through the darkness for her annual three months stay
And magpie he woke early on the stringybark tree
And for the welcome visitor piped his sweetest melody.

This morning very early before the dawn of day
The magpie welcomed the visitor from places far away
And the first day of September the best day of the year
That is if you are living in the Southern Hemisphere.

Ballad Of Cleo & Joe

Every morning the clock kicks off the beat.
Little Joe struggles just to get up on his feet.
Waits in his platforms for the right train to come.
Sipping his coffee another day has begun

Little Joe got work for minimum wage
Tries to get through another dead beat day
At five a clock he comes home to change
takes him many hours just to rearrange

And he works his body just to be somebody
There's a woman in the mirror looking like a dream
And he works his body and he feels somebody
and the working boy becomes a dancing queen

And he works his body just to be somebody.
There's a woman in the mirror looking like a dream.
And he works his body just to feel somebody
and the working boy becomes a dancing queen.

Every night the DJ kicks off the beat.
Little Cleo's jumping just to get up on her feet.
Waits in her platforms for the right song to come.
Sipping her cocktail another night has begun.

And he works his body just to be somebody.
There's a woman in the mirror looking like a dream.
And he works his body and he feels somebody
and the working boy became a dancing queen.

Every morning the clock kicks off the beat
Little Joe struggles just to get up on his feet.
Waits in his platforms for the right train to come...

Waking On A New Morning

thanks GOD..ı have reached a new..fresh morning
that means...ı am on the world..alive
thanks GOD..ı have reached a new..fresh morning
ı am still dreaming..fancying and in dreams

the harnessed cart on road
the anchored ship at hArbour
all my kins...all my relatives gather together..come together
LOOK.. it is so new..a fresh morning

house on house is weary of the world
the mountains are in their joyous moments
vapour in the glittering eyes
the dead and alive together are walking on the steets

the market is in its motion all day
the false and unnecessary haste wearies everyone
on the world
human beings against it are walking on it shaking

the things you and we know
are the things we call thoughts
we are the water-wheel horses
turning and turning
with blinkers on our eyes
and the fate looking at us in its joyous mood

thanks GOD..ı have reached a new..a fresh morning
that means ı am on the world..living
thanks GOD..ı have reached a new: : , ; . a fresh morning
that means I am also in a dream..dreaming again

My body and my mind

My body and my mind...

My body and my mind are in depression because
You are not with me.

How much I love you and want you in my house!
When I hear people describe me as your bride I look sideways ashamed,
because I know that far inside us we have never met.

Then what is this love of mine?

I don’t really care about food, I don’t really care about sleep,
I am restless indoors and outdoors.
The bride wants her lover as much as a thirsty man wants water.

And how will I find someone who will take a message
to the Guest from me?
How restless Kabir is all the time!
How much he wants to see the Guest!

I enjoy some physical stuff. But if I had a choice between playing a scene where it's raining, it's terribly cold, I'm wet and I'm being drowned and playing a scene with dinosaur eggs in a laboratory, I'd probably take the latter. It's warmer and generally more comfortable!
