Calling All

when i arose
like a plot twist in prose
i found my head in a box
with jagged rocks and those
cuts ran as rivers.

yet i didnt care to find the key
i hadnt known if there was a key
to unlock the door at the end
of the hallway
and there was no way out.

hope,
like string, was neither thick
enough nor long enough
to decorate my neck
in the void of space.

eyes bled as i looked upon the
sun
who's face looked upon me,
i failed him, and he wasnt about
to bail me out again.

and again
i rest my case-head on the chopping block, the breath
i taste, is not my own but those
chopped before.

in a world where pennies are scraped from our fabricated pockets to bury the dead, and they are young.

What Did I Do!

I was looking for something in the closet,
I was sure it would be there.
But to my surprise it wasnt there
And I had to look all over the world.
I was telling anybody I need to find it now,
Its very important to find it now.
I wasnt surprised that they didnt care,
And I had to look for it myself.
Where is it? where is it?
Oh, where could it be?
Why dont you help me look for it?
Why dont you help me look for it?
I kept on looking for the thing they say was there,
But I couldnt find it anywhere.
And to my dismay, I didnt even remember
What I was supposed to look for anyway.
What is it? what is it?
Oh, what could it be?
Why dont you tell me what it is?
Why dont you tell me what it is?
I was looking for something I knew was in my head,
I wasnt sure if it were dead.
But to my dismay, it was still there,
I had to close the door real fast.
What did I do? what did I do?
Oh, what did I do?
Why didnt I look in the closet instead?
Why didnt I look in the closet instead?
I was looking for my head in the closet,
I was sure it would be there.
But to my surprise it wasnt there
And I had to look all over the world.
Where is it? where is it?
Oh, where could it be?
Why dont you help me look for it?
Why dont you help me look for it?

King Electric

King electric, motor on
The king is dead, the king is gone
The king is in us, let his song
Play on!
King electric, motor on
The king is dead, the king is gone
The king is in us, let his song
Play on!
I was cutting a dash down bleecker street
The sewer was a-staiming underneath my feet
I looked down macdougal bout half a block
Said to myself thats where you come from
I got a vision right there and then in my minds eye
You in your finery, strolling by
Hands on your hip and your guitar case
Sound of the future blowing in your face
King electric, motor on
The king is dead, the king is gone
The king is in us, let his song
Play on!
I stepped down the stairs, ventured through the door
Sound nearly knocked me clean to singapore
Black man child waltzing cross the stage
Squeezing guitar, singing purple haze
King electric, motor on
The king is dead, the king is gone
The king is in us, let his song
Play on!
I remember back home, many moons ago
I had a front-room band, you should have heard us blow
We were rough as a dog, loud as sin
With a lead guitar player, name of davy flynn
He could play with his teeth, upside of his head
He could make that thing ring like a-raising that dead
You were his idol, you were his man
I didnt get it then davy, now I understand
King electric, motor on
The king is dead, the king is gone
The king is in us, let his song
Play on!
cos you were just to early, I was just too late
You were just too fine, you were just too great
You were just too real, you were just too true
This world wasnt beautiful enough for you
King electric, motor on
The king is dead, the king is gone
The king is in us, let his song
Play on!
Keep your electric eye on me, babe
Put your ray gun to my head
Press your space face close to mine, love
Freak out in a moonage daydream, oh yeah
Keep your electric eye on me, babe
Put your ray gun to my head
Press your space face close to mine, love
Freak out in a moonage daydream, oh yeah

The Last Trip To Tulsa

Well, I used to drive a cab, you know
I heard a siren scream
Pulled over to the corner
And I fell into a dream
There were two men eating pennies
And three young girls who cried
The west coast is falling,
I see rocks in the sky.
The preacher took his bible
And laid it on the stool.
He said: with the congregation running,
Why should I play the fool?
Well, I used to be a woman, you know
I took you for a ride,
I let you fly my airplane
It looked good for your pride.
cause youre the kind of man you know
Who likes what he says.
I wonder whats its like
To be so far over my head.
Well, the lady made the wedding
And she brought along the ring.
She got down on her knees
And said: lets get on with this thing.
Well, I used to be a folk singer
Keeping managers alive,
When you saw me on a corner
And told me I was jive.
So I unlocked your mind, you know
To see what I could see.
If you guarantee the postage,
Ill mail you back the key.
Well I woke up in the morning
With an arrow through my nose
There was an indian in the corner
Tryin on my clothes.
Well, I used to be asleep you know
With blankets on my bed.
I stayed there for a while
til they discovered I was dead.
The coroner was friendly
And I liked him quite a lot.
If I hadnt ve been a woman
I guess Id never have been caught.
They gave me back my house and car
And nothing more was said.
Well, I was driving down the freeway
When my car ran out of gas.
Pulled over to the station
But I was afraid to ask.
The servicemen were yellow
And the gasoline was green.
Although I knew I couldnt
I thought that I was gonna scream.
That was on my last trip to tulsa
Just before the snow.
If you ever need a ride there,
Be sure to let me know.
I was chopping down a palm tree
When a friend dropped by to ask
If I would feel less lonely
If he helped me swing the axe.
I said: no, its not a case of being lonely
We have here,
Ive been working on this palm tree
For eighty seven years
I said: no, its not a case of being lonely
We have here,
Ive been working on this palm tree
For eighty seven years
He said: go get lost!
And walked towards his cadillac.
I chopped down the palm tree
And it landed on his back.

When It Cuts

cannot justify your envy
But I will be understanding when you stay
Then I will satisfy you in every (way)
But I'm not feeling coherent when you say
When it cuts, it cuts, it cuts hard
And I
When it cuts, it cuts, it cuts hard
And I die again
Again
Though I'm right, I don't think I'll win this fight
But I'm trying though it's ripping me inside
Just in case that I'm taking up your space
I'll be feeling too, whatever's left inside
When it cuts, it cuts, it cuts hard
And I
When it cuts, it cuts, it cuts hard
And I die again
I can't go on
I'm not that strong
I'm so alone
You just gotta set me free
I'm still living day, no way
I don't care what you say
Your eyes dispise my lies
Just say goodbye
When it cuts, it cuts, it cuts hard
And I
When it cuts, it cuts, it cuts hard
And I die again
Again, again
Waste your breath

The Colubriad

Close by the threshold of a door nailed fast
Three kittens sat; each kitten looked aghast;
I passing swift and inattentive by,
At the three kittens cast a careless eye,
Not much concerned to know what they did there,
Not deeming kittens worth a poet's care.
But presently a loud and furious hiss
Caused me to stop and to exclaim, 'What's this?'
When lo! upon the threshold met my view,
With head erect, and eyes of fiery hue,
A viper, long as Count de Grasse's quoue.
Forth from his head his forked tongue he throws,
Darting it full against a kitten's nose,
Who having never seen, in field or house,
The like, sat still and silent as a mouse;
Only projecting with attention due,
Her whiskered face, she asked him, 'Who are you?'
On to the hall went I, with pace not slow,
But swift as lightning, for a long Dutch hoe,
With which well armed I hastened to the spot,
To find the viper, -- but I found him not;
And turning up the leaves, and shrubs around,
Formed only, that he was not to be found.
But still the kittens, sitting as before,
Sat watching close the bottom of the door.
'I hope,' said I, 'the villain I would kill
Has slipped between the door and the door sill;
And if I make despatch and follow hard,
No doubt but I shall find him in the yard;
For long ere now it should have been rehearsed,
'Twas in the garden that I found him first.
Even there I found him, there the full-grown cat
His head, with velvet paw, did gently pat,
As curious as the kittens erst had been
To learn what this phenomenon might mean,
Filled with heroic ardour at the sight,
And fearing every moment he would bite,
And rob our household of our only cat
That was of age to combat with a rat,
With outstretched hoe I slew him at the door,
And taught him Never To Come There No More.

That Cat Won't Sit On Your Lap

She warned me
That cat won't sit on your lap
She won't let you pick her up
And she won't let you sit on your lap
She likes to rub her head on you
But that's it
She won't let you pick her up

The cat looked at me
I looked at her
I let her rub her head on my leg
I look at her again and made a cat noise
She said, you'll see, she doesn't let anybody pick her up
I just looked at the cat
She looked at me

I reached to pick her up and she flinched
But she came back
I looked at her
And picked her up
She arched her back briefly
I rubbed her head, which she liked
The cat stayed on my lap

She said....how did you do that?
I said, I just did!
I looked a the cat
she looked at me
And we agreed not to tell
I put her down
As I did she knowingly looked back at me.

The Morning After

When I awoke this morning
It was almost yesterday
Though it could have been tomorrow
I just really couldn't say.

My head was facing back to front
My nose seemed upside down
My eyebrows stuck together
In an imbecilic frown.

My legs had all the feeling
You'd expect from frozen peas
Which was further complicated
By the loss of both my knees.

And when I tried to focus
On a point in time and space
My eyes just fled their sockets
At a most alarming pace.

Now what had caused this crisis
Which had left me all but dead
Screwing up my faculties
And messing up my head?

Fourteen pints of Real Ale
Might well provide a clue
Especially when they're followed
By some Double Whiskies too.

I don't suppose the Curry
Will have helped an awful lot
I can't remember what it was
But it was Bloody hot!

I closed my eyes against the light
To block out all the pain
And prayed for equilibrium
So I could try again.

I felt quite dehydrated
So I crawled off to the sink
To fill myself with H2o
Simplicity you'd think.

But my attempts to hold the glass
Were clearly bound to fail
My body shook from head to foot
Way off the Richter Scale.

Just then a can of Speckled Hen
Came slowly into view
Hairs and Dogs sprang to my mind
And it was liquid too!

I drank it down in just one go
It seemed to hit the spot
The shakes were now subsiding
It was helping quite a lot.

My eyes began to focus
And my head began to clear
I thanked the Gods for hairy dogs
Normality was near.

I quickly took a shower
Then I scraped my prickly face
I shoved a brush inside my mouth
To fumigate the place.

My eyes still looked quite bleary
And my face looked very pale
But I thought I knew the answer
A few pints of Abbot Ale.

I'd considered, very briefly
Should I join the Temperance Club?
But since I'm not too social
I'll just stroll down to the Pub!

Lewis Carroll

The Mad Gardener's Song

He thought he saw an Elephant,
That practised on a fife:
He looked again, and found it was
A letter from his wife.
'At length I realise,' he said,
The bitterness of Life!'

He thought he saw a Buffalo
Upon the chimney-piece:
He looked again, and found it was
His Sister's Husband's Niece.
'Unless you leave this house,' he said,
'I'll send for the Police!'

He thought he saw a Rattlesnake
That questioned him in Greek:
He looked again, and found it was
The Middle of Next Week.
'The one thing I regret,' he said,
'Is that it cannot speak!'

He thought he saw a Banker's Clerk
Descending from the bus:
He looked again, and found it was
A Hippopotamus.
'If this should stay to dine,' he said,
'There won't be much for us!'

He thought he saw a Kangaroo
That worked a coffee-mill:
He looked again, and found it was
A Vegetable-Pill.
'Were I to swallow this,' he said,
'I should be very ill!'

He thought he saw a Coach-and-Four
That stood beside his bed:
He looked again, and found it was
A Bear without a Head.
'Poor thing,' he said, 'poor silly thing!
It's waiting to be fed!'

He thought he saw an Albatross
That fluttered round the lamp:
He looked again, and found it was
A Penny-Postage Stamp.
'You'd best be getting home,' he said:
'The nights are very damp!'

He thought he saw a Garden-Door
That opened with a key:
He looked again, and found it was
A Double Rule of Three:
'And all its mystery,' he said,
'Is clear as day to me!'

He thought he saw a Argument
That proved he was the Pope:
He looked again, and found it was
A Bar of Mottled Soap.
'A fact so dread,' he faintly said,
'Extinguishes all hope!'

the Touch**********************1979

i looked up into the deep blue sky
little white clouds were floating by
i looked upon this young girls face
she held it down in disgrace.

i looked upon her cheeks so fair
she looked up to me to see if i care
i looked at her with content
and she knew right there it was heaven sent.

she smiled at me, and our eyes then touched
we knew then, it was much to much.
our hearts entwined and her lips met mine
we felt right there it was a love divine.

The Murder

One dark night a man with thick moustaches,
And bulky body, sable faced, smoking clay pipe,
Occupied my residential plot, a sheltering place
Which gained I with long labour and toil of life.

I indignantly did advance to get that released,
He rashly chased, pursued to my rented home.
I ran for life, to confine myself in a room dark;
But he being offended did not cease to chase,
And entered gushingly breaking the feeble door.

And I mustering up courage did get in hands,
A rusty blunt axe with a rough loose wooden haft,
And wielded thrice on his head bald and thick.
I could see through slits his black bleeding brain,
The seat where devilish devices were nourished.
Blood gurgled, splattered and spattered the floor,
Then threw I the corpse head long on the road.

All around I heard lamenting cries and wailings,
All they cursed and reproved for the deed I did,
I harrowed pale with moisty forehead waited,
With suspended thoughts for the catastrophe.

The men of law came, demanded gold to keep
Me spare from the clutchy gripping claws of law,
But none could I offer, they dragged me in streets,
All looked with disgust and eyes of repugnance.
I wished that the earth should gap to swallow soon.

They brought me instantly to the arena of justice,
The judge looked with annoyance at the plight,
From behind the unarranged high pile of record.
I was announced the worst in the world of crimes,
The capital infliction was poured upon my head.

And without delay I was dragged to the gallows,
With a sudden terrible jerk found myself hanging,
The painful lacerating cutting cord round the neck,
Made me woke, I thanked, praised to glorious God,
For I neither did kill a scamp nor a virtuous one,
It was the region of nightmare that I went through.

Your shop door

I looked at the sign on your shop door
it didnt say open or closed
I tried the handle because I wasnt sure.

Thats why im here inside
Well that and the fact I want some sweats
my dad often goes to the Cafe
and they look at him when ever he eats
he takes a packed lunch
he sits on the seats
there was this one time when he got a punch
it was because he wasnt allowed to buy
they threw him out they give him a black eye
they spat on him and I never knew why.

I looked at the sign on your shop door
it didnt say open or closed
I tried the handle because I wasnt sure.

That cafe he entered was open
and he was not there when the window was broken
he just needed somewhere to sit on a rainy noon
an accent like his?
The roads were his only room.
They're tools? Knives, falks and spoons
His? a shovel, a graft, to dig out the root which so many hold onto.
I pass your shop every day thinking,
'Open or closed to enter I dont know if I want to'.

Exploder

Met a man locked away
For things he hadnt done
Innocense on a ball and chain
Never feel the sun
A grin on his face
Roses in his hands
But when he smiled at me
I could understand
If youre free youll never see the walls
If youre head is clear youll never freefall
If youre out right you never fear the wrong
If youre head is high you never fear at all
There was a daughter of a man
Took his life too young
She swore shed never do those things
Then did just what hed done
And a boy whose gone insane
Voices in his head
No one knows what they say
Now his mothers dead
If youre free youll never see the walls
If youre head is clear youll never freefall
If youre right you never fear the wrong
If youre head is high you never fear at all
Cuttin me down
Cuttin me down
There was a man who had a face
It looked alot like me
I saw him in the mirror and I fought him in the street
Then when he turned away I shot him in the head
Then I came to realize I had killed myself
If youre free youll never see the walls
If youre head is clear youll never freefall
If youre right you never fear the wrong
If youre head is high you never fear
Cuttin me down and
Cuttin me down

My Head Souns Like That

The metal jangles as the key turns
Unlock the door, wipe my feet clean
Oh my head sounds like that
The oil is spitting in the saucepan
I squeeze this sponge and let the cat out
Oh my head sounds like that
Oh my head
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
The waters dripping in the hallway
The guy next door, he knocks his wall down
Oh my head sounds like that
The knife it scrapes across the burnt brown toast
The freight train rumbles pass my window
Oh my head sounds like that
Oh my head
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Around the axis we all spin
To determine whats left out and whats left in
Whats left out and whats left in
Whats left out and whats left in
Whos left out and whos left in
Whos left in
The moments come and go like water
I try to hold them but theyre fading
Oh my head sounds like that
Oh my head
Oh oh oh

The Fog (Story)

The fog moved slowly across the ground
Like a cat on the prowl.
Everything was as quiet as can be
Not even a rustle in the trees.

Out of the mist she walked slowly towards me
Her eyes was the only thing that I could see.
They glowed like lanterns in the night
My heart jumped - my mind took flight.

So many thoughts going thru my head
Am I alive or am I dead?
What is this that I am seeing
Or is my mind playing tricks
And having me believe it.

As she came closer she started to take
An hour glass shape, and all dressed
Up in black pants, blouse, boots
And black cape.
Was I to die? Was this my fate?

Her eyes black as her outfit and hypnotic
As can be, and the softness of her voice
Capturing me.

'You look like you've seen a ghost' she said
I looked at her eyes then bowed my head.
She was the most beautiful woman that
I had ever seen or ever met
But something about her that I couldn't
Figure out yet.

Then the thought came to me ' vampire diary'.
I knew that this was only a movie, and no such
Thing exists. 'but' - what if?
I did not hear her heels as she walked up to me
And her eyes as big as can be, taking full control of me.
I felt my body go limp as I lost my self in her eyes
Then she licked her lips, and I felt I was paralyzed.

She took my face in her hands and kissed me OH SO TENDERLY
And in her arms was where I wanted to be.
Her lips like the taste of wine warming my every being
This was all that I was seeing.

She unbuttoned my shirt and started kissing my chest
Then I felt her climb up to my neck.
Her breath so hot that it sent chills down my spine
To last me till the ends of time.

She kissed me again and her tongue went deep inside
To a point that I wanted to cry,
She pulled away then looked at me
And opened her mouth very wide

AND THEN IT HAPPENED! I woke up!

Ha Ha hope you liked the ending.

Hard Up Case

You told me once I was your pride and joy
I guess those days are dead and gone
You must have took me for some golden boy
You didnt know what you were taking on
It was a hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case
Now all the angles have been played in threes
There isnt much that I can say
I know you gave your little heart to me
I guess I threw the thing away
It was a hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case
Sometimes the truth is kind of hard to find
But dont you worry I can read your mind
And you dont have to tell me to my face
You put some other joker in my place
They dealt us houses full with the queens and kings
And now theyre calling out our bluff
cause you and me girl we had everything
But it just wasnt quite enough
Now thats a hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case
You say the truth is gonna set me free
Like you might throw a dog a bone
I know youre thinking that the jokes on me
Just take a look at what you re dragging home --
Another hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case
It was a hard up case
Just another hard up case

The Headless Bird

According to custom, the old people have shut me away
Not to scare me stupid when they killed the bird,
And I am listening by the bolted door
To the trampling and the struggle.

I twist the lock time has worn thin
To forget what I have heard, to get away
From this struggle where
The body races after the head.

And I jump when the eyes, thick with fear
Turn backwards, turn white,
They look like grains of maize,
The others come and peck at them.

I take the head in one hand, the rest in the other,
And when the weight grows too much I switch them
around
Until they are dead, so they are still connected
At least in this way, through my body.

But the head dies sooner,
As if the cut had not been properly done,
And so that the body does not struggle alone
I wait for death to reach it passing through me.

The Return

Who knocks at the door so late, so late—
Who knocks so late at the door?
Is it one who comes as a stranger comes,
Or one who has knocked before?
Is it one who stays with intent to bless,
Or one who stands to implore?

My days have been as the years, she said,
And my heart, my heart is sore;
Love looked in my face for a moment's space
One happy spring of yore—
Looked in my face with a wistful grace:
And left me to grieve evermore!

Through all the days the door stood wide,
For hope had breathed a vow
That love should ne'er be kept outside.
The years were long and hope hath died;
The door at last is barred and fast—
Why comes this knocking now?

Yet woe the waiting heart, she said,
And the heart it waiteth for!
And woe the truth and wasted youth
That nothing shall restore!
The faith that's fled, the hope that's dead,
The dreams that come no more.

Who knocks at the gate—so late, so late?
Thou foolish heart, be still!
What is 't to thee if love or hate
Knocks in the midnight chill?
Art thou, poor heart, compassionate?
Is love so hard to kill?

Ah me! the night is cold, she said;
Would I might all forget;
But memory lives when hope is dead,
And pity heals regret;
As light still lingers overhead
When sun and moon are set.

Dark and Deadly

Dark and deadly are these pains that reside in my head,
One falters with chilly winds, the very cool friends,
Then the winds are breezes, more breezes to be bled.

Dust and dirt are elite elements for all the men with a bed,
One seeks misery when there is misery that attends,
Dark and deadly are these pains that reside in my head.

Mighty rivers applaud the taste of the truly bred,
One stays in a whole sea for the corn that defends,
Then the winds are breezes, more breezes to be bled.

When do waters boil? And where are the flowers dead?
One picks up plants forcing the very grand ends,
Dark and deadly are these pains that reside in my head.

The delirious means used by some are to what fed?
One of us mends hearts too fragile, one that bends,
Then the winds are breezes, more breezes to be bled.

A delightful method gains acceptance from those to imbed,
One’s agony seems too fair as the fairest intends,
Dark and deadly are these pains that reside in my head,
Then the winds are breezes, more breezes to be bled.

Secret

Chorus:
Why is that smile upon your face
When its such a rainy day
Why are you so happy?
What do you know that I dont know?
I wish I did but aint been told
So tell me, whats your secret?
I met a girl the other day at the supermarket
Ringing up all of my things
She had the strangest look upon her face
Wish you could have been there
Just to see the way she looked at me
Thought I must look crazy something out of place
But paid it no attention
Just kept going with my business
I looked up because she stepped into my space
Saw pain in her eyes
Her question took me by surprise she said
I didnt have the faintest clue where to begin
So I asked some questions (just to see what I was dealing with)
She told me where she was and where it was shed been
What an awful tale life hadnt done her well
She had thoughts of leaving
Bridge:
(Before you go) let me tell my story
(Once like you, you know) all guts and no glory
(But now I have joy) the reason why
Whos in my life
That is why youre asking me
See the moral of the story is the whole worlds watching you
So be careful what you say and be careful what you do
Never know when it will be your time to show someone the way
So be a guiding light and shine so theyll say
