Young Poets Society
to all the young poets in this worlds society.
as a father and grand father as well.
you have made me as proud as can be.
you take the depths of the ocean-and set peoples lives in motion.
for when someone as young as you -can see what we've
gone through.
and feel the elders aches and pains, it will never be the same.
so i stand here proud as can be
through your poetry you have been set free
and i thank you for those memories.
(pain and love have no boundaries)
so continue to write and tell what you see and feel-
and let others know that this is real.

Only The Ones Who Continually Count Their Blessings
Why is it when one is young,
Aging is something believed...
No one wants to get done.
I've had my share of bouts with doubts.
Praying my advancing age...
Would not be so obvious.
Or in public be announced,
To be shouted out.
As I made attempts not to appear,
Like I was not experiencing a mid-life crisis.
But,
I've earned this.
I had to awaken to admit it!
I've EARN THIS!
Every bit of it and proud.
I have managed to do some things I dared.
With challenges and obstacles,
To prove a faith had pulled me through...
Mucho grief!
With just some of it shared.
Not all.
I don't want to scare the few people I know,
Away!
There's already been an acceptance,
Of my mentioned dysfunctions.
Why blow it on a 'show and tell' demonstration?
Some boundaries should be kept limited.
And imagined.
Why is it when one is young,
Aging is something believed...
No one wants to get done.
I've had my share of bouts with doubts.
Praying my advancing age...
Would not be so obvious.
Or in public be announced,
To be shouted out.
As I made attempts not to appear,
Like I was not experiencing a mid-life crisis.
I use to fear aging before I understood it.
Only the ones who continually count their blessings,
Can appreciate a few aches and pains...
And associate 'that' with being grateful to feel them.
Only the ones who continually count their blessings,
Can appreciate a few aches and pains...
And associate 'that' with being grateful to feel them.
And I'll keep that repeated to myself,
As a reminder.
Sometimes this self motivation business,
Does get old and tired.
But a blessing to live to get done.
You never know who's listening,
When confessions are being made.

On The Goddess Of Poesy
The Goddess of Poesy the Goddess of Song
To the Universal immortals she surely belong
The poets of the World her praises do sing
The gift of poetry to their souls she does bring.
The poets to write poems Goddess Poesy inspire
And of singing her praises they don't seem to tire
The poetry of sorrow the poetry of joy
The poetry of youth of the young girl and boy.
The poetry of youthfulness and of growing old
Of young women in their prime lovely to behold
The beauty of Nature the birds and the bees
The mammals and fishes of land and of seas.
The Goddess of poets of every gender race and creed
For their inspiration to write in her lives her they need
Of love, life and Nature she inspires poets to write
For the lovers of poetry to read and recite.

To Make My Father Proud
To make my father proud
To make my mother smile
I need no conquered worlds, a flame
Not set, the paceful style
If I can follow through
Oh, love think wavely me as my tears
Ill find the way to sell my clothes
Avoiding ships a fuss
If I dont come up, number one
Ill stand not well apart
As one for numbered numbers
When knowing in my heart
I dare not to be done
To always do my best
By listening to me, myself
So he can do or else
(of without compromise,
Shall follow the feel of constant care)
In my eleven hour
Ill be a man the way
To face whatever force my way
Prepared that are a shame
To just recall the part of guide
For which I have been named
A man and a womans youngest son
Who are growing still a child
And that will make my father proud
And make my mother smile...

Father Of Night
Father of night, father of day,
Father, who taketh the darkness away,
Father, who teacheth the bird to fly,
Builder of rainbows up in the sky,
Father of loneliness and pain,
Father of love and father of rain.
Father of day, father of night,
Father of black, father of white,
Father, who build the mountain so high,
Who shapeth the cloud up in the sky,
Father of time, father of dreams,
Father, who turneth the rivers and streams.
Father of grain, father of wheat,
Father of cold and father of heat,
Father of air and father of trees,
Who dwells in our hearts and our memories,
Father of minutes, father of days,
Father of whom we most solemnly praise.

Blind father
It is sad how you wish to see my face
You walk slowly towards the door
Stepping on eggs so carefully
How I wish I could go inside your heart
Feel your pain as u hold that stick on you hand.
You look around and call out my name
From that moment I feel your love
Even behind th darkness
You can still feel my presence
I know, no matter how much I have grown, I'll always be your little girl
Its sad what growth takes away from us, happy moments we have shared
You have seen me grow into a mature woman.
And now you will never see me in my gown.
I respect you as a father, grand father
Your friends respect you as a brother
My mom- a good husband.
You have brought us up with pride
With respect that we may refer to our elders ' father, mother & sister'
Oh! Man of integrity, pride& honor
Oh! How I love you

Be Free With Your Love
Be free with your love
Free with your love
Be free with your love
Free with your love
Two young babes in a foreign land
Draw no milk from the dusty sand
Close heir eyes from the night so cold
Feel the love in their mothers hold
Two old men on their different shores
Stretch the world with their tug of war
Tension pulls on a tightening cord
Spread your love over mans discord
Lifes your reward
So sing it to your lord
Be free with your love
Free with your love
Be free with your love
Free with your love
Science stands on threshold of life
Man could be cut by a blow of its knife
Time to live by a new resolution
In the spirit of loves evolution
Two young girls shining in the sun
Feel your pain but they dance for everyone
Beauty lives in their innocent glow
Things so dear should be free to let grow
So let your heart flow
And sing it to your soul
Be free with your love
Free with your love
Now baby
Be free wih your love
Free with your love
Two young girls shining in the sun
Feel your pain but they dance for everyone
Be free with your love

Perhaps You Might Call Me An Old Fashioned Man
Many love poets like Whitman and Eliot and Poe
The first of the moderns from decades ago
But of their sort of poetry I am not a fan
Perhaps in my ways I'm an old fashioned man.
I still love the old ballads I loved when I was young
That on Winter nights by the fire grate were sung
By then ageing men and women who now with the dead lay
But fond memories of them I have with me today.
Us youngsters learned from them the words of many a memorable song
And with the old songsters we used sing along
A love of old culture from them I did gain
And in the ways of the past I am one who remain.
The mentors of my young years much to them I do owe
The love of old culture in my mind they did sow
Songs they learned from their elders to us they passed down
May they rest in peace in their graves in the town.
I do love the songs that I learned as a boy
And memories of what was I still do enjoy
Of modern poets and their poetry I was never a fan
Perhaps you might call me an old fashioned man.

Poet 2 Poet
We all have different writing styles, and we
May not all have grace and poise.
But when we do write, it’s all to make some noise.
We want to be recognized by the co-poets
All fair and true.
For writing our poetry is what we all like to do.
So I welcome all my co-poets who take this beautiful ride
And all their dreams and visions, they do find.
We do not only write what comes into our minds
But we write from the heart
And this is where poetry gets its start.
So continue to write all that you see and feel
Because these are human emotions.
That from us, no one can steal.
WELCOME ABOARD THIS TRAIN OF POETRY.

Take Me
I always wondered if I could give
Enough love for a woman to live on
But as I grow, as I learn and live,
I find its best to forget and forgive.
I could be dancing on the ocean.
I could be singing to the sea.
But I am poetry in motion.
Im yours!
When I was young I was so filled with love,
Jealousy stung but never deep enough
cause I feel rain falling from above.
I only thirst for your to share my cup.
I could be dancing on the ocean.
I could be singing to the sea.
But I am poetry in motion.
Im yours, people. take me.

Pray
Dear lord you know that I don’t often pray
But I have so much to say.
I thank you for all that you have done for me
That you have set my heart free.
You give me a purpose in this life
And a desire to help others
Friends, family, sister, and brothers.
So continue to stand by me
And let the words run free.
For when I pray to god up above
He will shower me with all his love.
He will relieve my aches and pains
And my soul will never be the same.
Because of prayer I have achieved my goal
I can touch other souls
I can write what they see and feel
And their thoughts I do steal.
This is what happens when I pray
And I thank god every day.

Why Do Poets Write
(just written)
Why do poets write, a question that I wonder.
I’ve asked myself that question over a thousand times.
And I always come up with the same answer
It’s because we are blind.
We accept all that we see constant, as the daily norm.
But I cannot accept it, it’s not where I belong.
There are questions to be answered that we must write about
We’ll climb the highest mountain, and to the world we will shout.
Why is the sky blue? Why is the ocean deep?
Why is the mountain high? Why do we weep?
We have been given everything man could possibly need
This is the reason GOD had planted the seed.
We are the only creatures that have a mind to think
But when we do not use it, we can lose in in a wink.
We as poets see all the beauties that are around
We will write about it, without even making a sound
We will also see the suffering, for not everything in
Life is a bed of flowers, for people are dying
Each and every hour.
There are too many topics for us to write about
War, poverty, hunger, sickness, just to name a few
We can’t write about everything, what are we supposed to do.
So I look around to all that surround me
Then I pick a topic of which I do not foresee.
I put myself in that position of what I am writing about
If it’s about pregnancy, I will feel her aches and pains
And by doing this there is knowledge that I gain.
Life is two sided of that there is no doubt.
Rich, poor, happy, sad, love, hate, boy, girl,
Life, death, all in suits of twos
All this excites me, but which one will I choose?
Why do poets write? now you tell me?
maybe it’s just because we love the poetry.

Our First Born
[verse 1]
Now you made me the proudest daddy,
Girl Im at a loss for words,
Cant explain the feelings in me,
So proud when I heard,
That we were having a little baby,
Girl I couldnt wipe off my smile,
Heaven went and told the world,
That you were having my child,
Words cant explain it
[chorus]
Our first born
Its our first, its our first
Our first born,
Its our first little baby,
Come on, our first born,
Its our first, its our first,
Our first born,
Its our first little baby, cmon
[verse 2]
When you had it something went through me, and it hit my soul,
I had no control,
This little life was mine,
And Ill do anything to protect it,
I will never neglect it,
I will always stand right there,
Im the daddy, Im the father,
Now what that means,
I will always love and care for you always,
Come on just say it again,
Im the daddy, Im the father,
I just cant explain how I feel about our first
[chorus]
Im so proud that we share,
I am so proud that we share,
The most precious thing in the world,
That you could love and share,
Baby I love you,
Yes I do,
Baby do you feel me baby,
Do you hear me, do you hear me
[chorus]

Father
Youre a sad old man
Your tawdry vest is gray
Memories
Of a former man
Are all your words convey
Father
Oh cant you see
The tarnished robe you wear
A crown
For fools
The people laugh
You never seem to hear
Father
Youre lifes a ship
Thats never been to sea
The bottle
That surrounds your life
Youll sail eternally
[keyboard solo]
Children
Please understand
A man must stand alone
And face a world
Hell never know
And never call his own

Ba ba bum bum
Ba ba bum bum
Ba ba bum bum
Ba ba bum bum
Ba ba bum bum
Ba ba bum bum
Ba ba bum bum

Here we are
Trying to locate the rainbow stream
There I go.. over and under again
He thinks he.. knows where I am without seeing me
And there I stand in the shadow
He casts behind and I am ready holding the man
You'll need and he tries not to rise again
This is the story of William McGovern
He lives undercover
Come rise
Come fall
He doesn't know it yet I feel the pain
Because we never speak cause we run away
And I think that he's bitter like me
Hey father, sing me a song about rock n' roll
And I remember led zepplin 2 in your living room
And I need to be what you would be if you were free
There I stand in the spotlight in your imagination
Brother, holding the good ole brownie
To turn nightmares from haunting him
This is the story of William McGovern
He lives undercover
Come rise
Come fall
Je doesn't know it yet I feel the pain
Because we never speak cause we run away
And I think that he's bitter like me
I think he's a little like me
I think he's a little like me
Hey father
Only the names have been changed
Hey father
Only the names have been changed
Hey father...

Bill's Son Joe
Bill wishes his son had been a well known Sportsman
My son's a poet you never hear him say
As if that is something to be ashamed of
'Tis a strange World that we live in today.
Young Joe has no interest in sports or football
He'd rather go to the park by the bay
And watch the seagulls by the park bench tables
Squabble for scraps of food the picknickers throw away.
Joe is nineteen he doesn't have sisters or brothers
A fine young poet with words he has a way
His Nature poems original and special
That's what the poetry critics of him say.
The other fathers talk of their sons sporting prowess
My son ran well, my son played a fine game
But Bill he never talks about his son Joe
As if writing poetry is a thing of shame.
As if writing poetry is for women only
The redneck father has a cultured son
He doesn't feel proud that his son is a good poet
And that a prestigious poetry prize he's won.
Bill son Joe is a poet of rare talent
With which the father he is not impressed at all
He'd much prefer that he were a good sportsman
Good at athletics, boxing or football

Bible in Poetry: 1 John 2
I write to you my dear children,
So that you must not commit sin;
And if someone does commit it,
Our defense is Lord Jesus Christ,
The Righteous One, Holy Spirit,
Who’ll speak to Father for our sake.
The Lamb of God, sins did He take,
He paid the price in atonement,
For mankind’s sins and punishment.
If we obey His commands all,
We’ve come to know and heard His call;
The man who says, ‘I know him, ’ but
Does not follow His commands, yet,
Remains a liar, without doubt.
By obeying, we’re made complete,
And know His word and feel His love,
And walk with Him to heav’n above!
I write to you no new command,
But old an one, just to remind,
A message that you have all heard,
The need to listen to His word,
Because the darkness is passing,
And true light is on you shining.
Someone who claims to be in light,
And hates his brother, is in dark;
Whoever loves his brother, ‘mark,
‘He won’t stumble, he lives in light.’
He who hates still, walks in darkness,
And has been blinded, in sureness,
And does not know to where he goes!
‘I write to you dear children, know,
Your sins have been forgiven now;
On account of His Holy Name.
I write to you dear fathers all,
You’ve known Him and have heard His call,
He, who is from the beginning.
I write to you young men, women,
You’ve overcome the evil one.
I write to you dear children then,
Because the Father, you have known.
I write to you young men on earth,
Because you’re kept strong by His birth,
By word of God that lives in you,
The evil one, you’ve o’ercome too.’
Do Not Love the World:
Don’t love the world and things in it;
Lest love of Father, you forfeit;
The things that are found in this world,
Do not belong to God, the Lord,
But cravings of the sinful man,
Of what he does in his life-span,
The lust of eyes and one’s boasting,
And do not come from Father King,
But have their origin in world.
Warning against Antichrists:
This is the last hour, dear children,
The Antichrist is coming then,
Many such ones have come by now,
By this, this is last hour, we know.
They went away from us only;
They didn’t belong to us truly;
If they had, they would have remained,
And not left us or abandoned.
You have the holy anointing;
And so, you know the truth so well;
The righteous get the Lord’s blessing;
Knowing the truth, you can’t lies tell.
Who is the liar, can you tell?
One who denies Jesus is Christ;
Such men will surely go to hell;
Such men are called as antichrist.
He denies Father and the Son;
The Father can’t be with such one;
Whoever acknowledges Son,
In him has Father and has won.
Ensure what you have heard at first,
Remains in you and Father, Christ;
For, Eternal life, He’as promised.
Beware of being led astray;
By ones who oppose righteousness;
Your anointing will show your way,
You need no one to teach or say.
The anointing is so real;
Remain in Him and He will heal.
Children of God:
So, continue in Him, children,
So that, when He comes from heaven,
We stay confident, without shame,
And stand before Him, without blame.
If you know He’s the Righteous One,
Who does aright, of Him are born.

What is a father?
A father is there when you say the special words, daddy……
He’s there when you take your first steps……
A father is there through the storms………
He’s always there to keep you warm…
You’ll never find a father like mine………
He’s one of a kind ………
He there when you’re hurting……
He’s there when you’re smiling………
He’s there to pick you when you fall off your bike……
He’s there to convince you to get back up a try again……
He’s always there to chase those pesky little boys away………
That’s why I am proud that my father has all of these qualities……
I’m proud to call my father Hasim Hollins………

Certified father
A child rates their parents,
Especially their father.
He like the star in their life,
A destroyer of all fears,
The one who wipes your tears when you fall
And disobeys mommy when she says no.
You mould us to become successful young people
And you correct us when we go wrong.
You share your experiences so we can learn from them.
And you make us realize that you were once like us.
We have rated you,
Our father,
And saw that you passed our test,
Other people might look for different things in a father,
But we are proud to call you our father,
A certified father in our eyes.

The Poet of Legacy
the restless children run to the higher ground as the kites flying to an open sky
under the clouds, clouds which are so eager to shell shock them with a friendly
turbulence, which would make the kites, spin around haywire. the tall grass has covered
most of the old battlefield, which was once witnessed thousands of young lives perished during the World War 2, protecting the nearby port from enemies of the east. my father was one of the localities who fought the war not only for his country but for the ambitious imperialist from the west, as well. most of his comrades were killed during the battle and it was actually the beginning of the new era, a new ruler, under the ‘red sun’.
my father was captured and was sent to the infamous Changi Prison as a prisoner of war.
he survived the ordeals, which many could not have managed. today, i am the legacy, to continue the gallantry of a man who had lived throughout the manmade hell bravely, not with weaponry, but with brain and pens, writing poetry. i’ll be the poet; many poets would envy. i’ll be the poet; many readers would want to be. i’ll be the poet; many women would like to see. God gives lives to my father, to have me be born, and to continue the legacy.
