Melding
These eyes see in the dark
but Picasso-like they only see fleeting images of you
in our soft-lensed youth.
These hands touch
in you the essence of my best years and yours;
memory caresses us
and its power keeps us as we were in the old photos
youth reveling in velvet arms.
You are so well known to me
yet still a mystery
and I have never known how
you do that.
You're the path
given me
to grow beyond myself
to experience
breathless dollops where the soul melds
the sexual and the spiritual
where liberating excesses
kiss shuddering restrain
and then release.
We have together made the road we've traveled
with bed room eyes, intense desires
and summer nights
as we wrapped ourselves
around ourselves
melding
most times
gentle appreciation
and trembling
tremblings.

A Sliver Moon
I give you all my secrets from the passenger side
to me it felt like verbal orgasms
and you made love to them
stroking my soul
under a sliver moon
by the lake
bonding us in a velvet chain;
you place it around me with your silent lovings
your words caressed my willing heart-
my felt understandings
punctuated by your strong kisses rising.
We were mouth-breathing our histories
our burdens
preceding our tender,
reaching, grapplings
amid “I have never told any one about this ever' desires and failings;
our bodies quaking deep inside in unspokentries
and furtive profile looks
signing breathless smiles
those clutching recognitions
where your hands
moved deep into my spirit
into my body soul
awakened
by my unknown tremblings
our melding seethings
between our “we shouldn’t haves and our driving needs
under nature’s moon;
between your two jobs and mine
our midnight meetings
my fierce cravings
between our car foggings
our soft sighings
our heavy heavings
our longings and needings
exploding shudderings
our soul wrenching joyul weepings;
all that from that first kiss
given and received
in that secret night
in our delicious
penetrating oneness
that only the innocent and the young know.
In youth’s angel breaths
in the night mist
in our openings
our first amazings, first frightenings
first clutchings
left us teetering at ecstasy’s edge
amid irretrievable soft murmurings
in our collapsing into each’s warming arms.
And I say
to you “I have given more than
I have ever given.”
and you say “I love you true, '
kissing my hand
breathing into my open heart;
where right then our marriage began
and was later consummated at the church social
when you knelt
before me
secrets now fled
and I was terrified
as you said
for all to hear
”I love you and want you to be mine
openly
now and forever
day and night
and I ask
that you say yes.”
I did
because fairy tales
give up their secrets
when daylight arrives
and when the sun shone brightly
that New Years Day.

Age considers, youth ventures
Age considers, youth ventures
Age visualizes, youth dreams
Age makes theories, youth experiments
Age loves, youth longs
Age sees people, youth sees places
Age knows belongings, youth discovers them
Age pains to gain, youth gains to others' pain
Age has heart, youth has mind
Age is thoughtful, youth is tactful
Age ponders, youth wonders
Age recounts, youth counts
Age is experienced, youth is in experience
Age is cautious, youth dashes
Age floats, youth swims
Age lives, youth still making a living
Age is in touch with termination, youth with determination
Age is confident, youth is competent
Age adds years to living, youth adds life to living
Age is lost in past, youth is drowned in future

A Silk Rose
She made me a silk rose
for my summertime;
thornless
and I
in youth's haze
mistook it as gesture only
and fed it to my ego.
She leaned to kiss me in Summer Light
a gift she'd never offered to anyone before;
I took in her breath blithfully
she exhaled
merely smiling
her wise smile
older than her years;
twilight shadows playing upon her face
as I oar'ed the boat
behind her house
she drinking in my rough vitality
and I
realizing that Beauty had given Beast his first kiss.
I reach for her
sensing
her undeployed innocence
caressing it in my mind
seating it in my body
drinking it
as she sat across from me
smiling her gentle gaze
we both
then
ceasing to need
to row that boat
paused;
gentled by the river currents
oars now floating away
we both
bewitched in the gloaming
breeze blowing
in her hair
the sinews of my heart parting
releasing those tiny realizations
of gifted moments
we most times
understand as human gifts
only in later years.
Years pass and the river is before me now
I conjure that moment past
and your silk rose
and if it is not too late
offer you
these
words
in my memory's caress
and a single
rose-lensed
kiss.

Van Gogh Nights
The colors of our nights
flow in different hues
blood reds on the satin sheets
deep dark blues of gentle breathing
candle light soothing;
the smells of body scents
and perfume;
August's most heated nights
the sweep of enfolding arms
the over head fan twirls
over gentle writhings
healing tremblings
as we two
spin away into
Perfection's Consumated Dream
where breathless love mates
with sensual overwhelmng
sighs seductive breathings
making it oh so clear
why
we humans were placed here
to make love and children
in the colors of our night
hot pinks
ravishing reds
and deep blues.
I look into your eyes
reflecting back to me
the nights perfection
come real
and if never again
to be seen
this time alone would be enough
to paint Van Gogh
colors and stars
on our bed room ceiling
forever

Change
Remember me as I was then;
Turn from me now, but always see
The laughing shadowy girl who stood
At midnight by the flowering tree,
With eyes that love had made as bright
As the trembling stars of the summer night.
Turn from me now, but always hear
The muted laughter in the dew
Of that one year of youth we had,
The only youth we ever knew --
Turn from me now, or you will see
What other years have done to me.

Where Am I Going
Where am I going
Have I gone to far
Have I lost my mind
Where are my eyes
Oh have I seen to much
Have I lost my touch
Losing directions from growing infections
Poisoned desires of reaping life so young
What will I be like
When my head is bear
And my legs are weak
Will I be strong or barely keep alive
When Im thirty-five
Reaching dimentions that shatter conventions
Leads me to fear that Im growing old too soon
With every step and every breath
Its farther from youth and closer to death
And that things Ive realized
Now beckon me to shut my eyes
And I will grow to the age of maybe eighty years
In such little time
With this venturous mind
What am I saying
Dont I know myself from experience
Ill never change
Nor cease to sail the sky
Till the day I die
Ill come to conclusion with fear or illusion
Ill live how I feel
Cause no matter how fast or how slow
Youth will go

Banquet Of Love
I once heard these words in a song;
'You must remember this...a kiss is
just a kiss...a sigh is just a sigh, ' etc.
With you...nothing...nothing, could be
further from the truth.
Your kiss, is a ride among the stars,
a shower of moon beams and a
sailboat ride, in the Garden Of Eden.
Kissing you...is an out of body experience,
a transport to paradise and a creation
of ultimate passion and joy.
Kissing, every part of who you are, is
truly a banquet of love.
Let me feast of your love and of your lips,
for I am in love with you. Let me always
kiss your mouth...eyes...all of you.
Let us ride the feathers of angels, through
starlit nights-holding...kissing, for now...
and evermore.
Your kiss...touch...embrace, has captured
my heart...my very soul.
I send you this kiss...for the lips
I can not do without.

When You Touch My Body
when you touch my body with your trembling hands tonight
i choose to simply close my eyes
too, i am trembling to this passion
this desire i have been waiting
all these years, when we are nothing but
passing glimpses, until one day,
i tell you my name, i touch your lips i caress your hair
and you are awakened
by this kind of love
this total undressing this total nudity
even in tears and untold quiver
in this room, you are with me
there will be silence anticipating
our joys our confessions our opening up
hands to hands and soul to soul
we will be losing ourselves
tonight i am revealing all my skins and longings
i am naked
i am yours.

Youth is blind
Youth is power; youth is vigour;
Youth is initiative; youth is revolutionary;
Youth is dedication; youth is freedom;
Youth is love; youth is passion.
Yes, because youth is blind
Out of them elders make winds

Forever Mine
The room is dark, all alone am I.
Sitting here thinking of times gone by.
Remembering the past, the way things were.
A different time, when so much was unsure.
During these times, you came to my life.
Bringing happiness and laughter and love into sight.
Never such a feeling had I felt before.
Every moment spent with you, just left me wanting more.
More glances and stares, from your eyes so bright.
Eyes that see deep in my soul, making everything alright.
Wanting more kisses, from your soft lips so sweet.
Lips that make my legs weak and my heart skip a beat.
Wanting more time spent in your loving embrace.
Arms so strong and gentle, such a safe, loving place.
Wanting your warm touch, as you caress all of me.
Such a sensual feeling, setting my body so free.
Here we are, so many years more.
Not much has changed, I just want you even more.
Not a day goes by that I don't give thanks for you.
Every morning I think that our love is like new.
A new beginning. A fresh new start.
A new day to tell you what's deep in my heart.
You've made me feel loved, wanted and adored.
No one could possibly ever love me more.
And now here we are, loving each other from a far.
Waiting for the day, to awake in your arms.
To look upon your face, and deep in your eyes.
Knowing we'll never have to say our good byes.
Until that day comes just know this is true,
Everything I have to give, I have given to you.
I give you my heart, soul, body and mind.
And dream of the day you'll forever be mine.

The Seeker
I free my heart from this decaying shell,
To soar and seek that Love I once possessed,
But butchered by my blind desires.
I free my thoughts from this corrupted mind, To take release, and by release, to cleanse them
Of their sordid lies.
How can it be that by this short and light-less path,
Through forests thick with foul regret,
My failures find their peaceful grave?
Can it be that Love is that eternal?
That it's loss may only be a fleeting thing,
That yet, may be reborn upon this bed of wasted years?
Shall it be that Love's sweet smiles,
And longings warm caresses
May be adorned with Phoenix feathers?
Is it so, that Death shall serve up pure forgiveness,
That I may see the light shine in those eyes again?
If this is so, then Death I welcome you, but chide you for your slothfulness.

Cloaks Of 23
I want you
but I know you
suspect this already
taking bites of it like
a ripe delicious apple
with those perfect teeth
looking at me
through the bedroom eyes
of nonchalant youth
feasting on admiration
and attention
from us over thirties
who crave in you
our last grasp at the youth
which was once ours;
now consoling ourselves
with work, money or security,
thinking just maybe
you'd swap the latters
for the true love of the
young men who surround you
in their twenties.
Youth never understands
that age
does not abandon its own youth
rather
our older faces relentlessly
cover its relentless
insurgencies smashing our illusions.
So it is not
just you we crave
but our own fading youth
you represent
as we find ourselves meandering down the years
our minds fixed on how we were
at 17 or 23.
The body defeats
ultimately our youthful sense of agelessness
but that is something that can never be explained
to young girls of 23.
In fact if you approached most of us
we would blush and flee
because it is not you we crave
but our own young selves
at 17 and 23-
selves which abandoned us
for the cheap price of fleeting years
leaving us as oarless dingys
floating on an aging seas.
So as we
console our sorrow
with money or power
which do not sate
we, too, gaze back longingly;
youthful pasts
represented by you
clad now in only our poor cloak
for what was once
our own youthful
youth.
So pass now
sweet sprite
by these older eyes-
apple core
to the ground-
because those seeds within
shall be rightfully
sewn
by other younger
youth's hands.

The Chilterns
Your hands, my dear, adorable,
Your lips of tenderness
- Oh, I've loved you faithfully and well,
Three years, or a bit less.
It wasn't a success.
Thank God, that's done! and I'll take the road,
Quit of my youth and you,
The Roman road to Wendover
By Tring and Lilley Hoo,
As a free man may do.
For youth goes over, the joys that fly,
The tears that follow fast;
And the dirtiest things we do must lie
Forgotten at the last;
Even Love goes past.
What's left behind I shall not find,
The splendour and the pain;
The splash of sun, the shouting wind,
And the brave sting of rain,
I may not meet again.
But the years, that take the best away,
Give something in the end;
And a better friend than love have they,
For none to mar or mend,
That have themselves to friend.
I shall desire and I shall find
The best of my desires;
The autumn road, the mellow wind
That soothes the darkening shires.
And laughter, and inn-fires.
White mist about the black hedgerows,
The slumbering Midland plain,
The silence where the clover grows,
And the dead leaves in the lane,
Certainly, these remain.
And I shall find some girl perhaps,
And a better one than you,
With eyes as wise, but kindlier,
And lips as soft, but true.
And I daresay she will do.

Burgundy Dress and Glass of Wine
Have you ever driven
A woman to the airport
Searching all along the way
For the right words to express
The way you felt about her hair
And her eyes and her breath?
Life moves too fast
And opportunities escape,
Love finds a narrow way
Out of the city of your heart
And down a back road
Impossible to follow.
Too many seasons of rain
With no emotional comfort
Or the means to explain
Where your dreams disappeared
Into somebody else’s arms.
Her wrists were perfect
With silver bracelets
That sparkled in the sunlight,
My joy and my eyes
Settled in her half-moon earrings
Like I was a captivated child.
Close to four years
Have evaporated
Like the summer mist
Since I last knew the mystery
Of her voice and her kiss.
Everything about her
Even in this exile
Is beautiful to me.
Does she understand
How her thrilling essence
Continues to linger?
I’m happy to live with the memory
Of her burgundy dress and glass of wine.

Hard Times (from Michigan)
In these hard times
Of unreported unemployed voices
Of ignored college graduates
Of desperate youth
As well as desperate old
In these times
Education is overlooked
Pale profit wins over ethics
Our youth gets pushed further
Further away from their hard earned achievements
Further away from their intricate dreams
In these times
Fresh bread is left behind to turn into mold
Experience overtakes knowledge
Education becomes a burden
The educated are the punished
When they should be awarded
Education is no longer counted as experience
Our interactions with one another
Is no longer experience
They become experience (in the eyes of employers) by the documentation of a paycheck
To be qualified
We must be paid to interact with each other
We must be paid to use our knowledge
We must be paid to develop our skills
When in reality
We pay for our education ourselves
And in our education in which we pay
We interact and learn from others without demanding to be paid
In the eyes of the employer
Education is not experience
Eight years of college and achieving a P.H.D.
Is no longer experience
What employers don't realize is...
Education is a full-time job
A full time job that we do not get paid for
Education doesn't employ us
We employ education for ourselves
Yet...education is still not experience
When will they open their eyes and enlighten their minds?
Education should never have to come last
But should always come first
No wonder we are behind

Your Poems Are Long And I Have A Hard Time Memorizing
come with me
we shall be holding hands
we shall walk under a sky full of stars
we will feel the soft caresses of the wind on this hillside
we close our eyes
and we kiss
there is no word that we shall waste

the memory does not need any utterance

Velvet Dark
I heard a song last night
Alone in my car, in the velvet dark
It epitomised my feelings, my reelings
And I began to understand
'I never lost you, you were never mine'
Those words rang true, stung my heart
Driving at one mile per hour
In the velvet dark
I smiled as the lonely tear fell
A wry, upside-down frown
And the music began to painfully soothe
In the velvet dark
You were never, ever mine
To touch, to feel, just a ghost
Of a promise, whom I would never see
In the velvet dark
Lucky those roads were quiet
No crazed drivers forcing me on
And I pulled into a hidden corner
In the velvet dark
Your heart wasn't mine
To try to hold and to repair
You needed me and I needed you
In the velvet dark
We tried to make it
Through impossible barriers
Of dreams and hopes, spinning uncontrollably
In the velvet dark
Picking up my emotions
I pulled back onto that road
Moving towards my home, my sanity
In the velvet dark
I never lost you, I'll never lose you
I'll just remember, the good times
There were a few heady nights together
In the velvet dark
So, this song I will remember
For bringing home to me
The truth, the bitter-sweet memories
Forever in the velvet dark
