You Knew That! That's Why You Accepted My Invitation

I am so glad I was able to accept your invitation,
To join you this evening to eat.
And I am famished too!

'Oh,
That makes me so glad to hear.
We might as well get started.
Excuse me for a moment.'

Take your time.
I love your home.
It's...
Expressive.

'I've never heard it termed that way.
But...
Thank you.
Begin anytime you wish.
I have tons of it.'

This?
This is nothing but a bunch of...

'I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
In my excitement,
I've served to you first the dessert.'

Dessert?
What?
I had expected...

'Don't say another word.
My bad!
Here...
It's now autographed.
You don't have to start with that book.
I do have other writings.'

Where is the food?

'I'm feeding that to you now.
I think we have a misunderstanding.
I thought you said you couldn't wait to feed,
On what I had to offer you to eat.
Don't you wish to be nourished by my wisdom?
That's what I am serving you to eat!
Me, my thoughts, my intelligence.'

Uh...
You don't have too many friends, .
Do you?

'There you go again.
Trying to read my mind.
Probe into my head.
You knew that.
That's why you accepted my invitation! '

Perhaps That Is Why They Are 'Your' Friends

'My friends were very upset,
That at the last minute...
You chose not to accept their invitation.'

Well...
Relay this to your friends,
If they anticipated my appearance...
From an invitation I did not directly from them get,
Perhaps next time they will contact me personally...
Since they have my telephone number and my address.

'I had not thought about that.
That is disrespectful.'

Don't worry about it.
Perhaps that is why they are 'your' friends,
And not mine.

Make No Attempt to Compliment

When the initiative is taken,
To inflict upon another heartbreak.
Expect to feel the remnants of it.
Or see bits and pieces served upon a plate.
Eat it.
With a hopeful wish...
There has been an invitation,
To taste dessert.
And what has been served,
Has been deserving.
And a forgiveness forthcoming,
Will be mutually delicious.
If expectations are there and desired,
To again share the same menu!
If not...
Make no attempt to compliment.

Gladness

A person I wanted to be,
A person I have never been,
A person created by thee,
And for Thee she should be,

For the moment I've been happy,
as I saw a forest rising from the desert,
digging the holes of my houses,
from the gheto I've grown,

From the time I was young,
Refused by friends as of my dirtness,
roaming around like a street dog,
today I stand to select them,

Sorrounded by friends reminds me of something,
The time I smelt like a rotten wound,
when I have friends also called flies,
kissing and touching my lips,

Invitation cards takes me far,
to the bottom of a dump site,
with different cards and cakes,
sharing with my friends called Insects,

Am glad I was alive and stable,
having a rest over the tree shadow,
Someone may come and take my shadow,
am glad that I enjoyed it all,

till this moment of fun,
wondering with my imaginative world,
the world exist in my only mind,
and the government is about to come,

to take my remainings away,
my friends will cry for me,
as am heading to my real home,
waiting for you to come,

the home where no one is greater,
same clothes, same home, same bedroom,
and we will be together friend,
Am glad I was a human and mate you.
goodbye.

Third Party Invitations

When I am not in the mood,
To accept third party invitations...
In is with the same respect I am shown.

If one wants my presence in their home,
There is a correct way to go about doing it.
IF that invitation is sincere.
And this I have learned through experience.
I just don't show up to make appearances.

Especially if the offerings have been rationed.
Regardless if a dish,
I am 'told'...
Is the request the guests should bring,
By the entertaining host.

The last time I accepted,
A third party invitation...
I ended up bringing what I bought,
Back with me to my own home.
An expense I could have saved.

Dont sleep til the sunrise, listen 2 the falling rain
Dont worry bout tomorrow, dont worry bout your pain
Dont cry unless youre happy, dont smile unless youre blue
Never let that lonely monster take control of u
Be glad that u r free
Free 2 change your mind
Free 2 go most anywhere, anytime
Be glad that u r free
Theres many a man whos not
Be glad 4 what u had baby, what youve got
Be glad 4 what youve got

Invitation

I received your invitation;
sorry I will not be there.
After loving you for so long,
it would be too much to bear.
As the invitation slips through my fingers,
I remember how your love slipped away,
so I am sending back you invitation,
the invitation for your wedding day.
I don’t think you will miss me,
as he will be holding you tight.
I will only bring back bad memories
and you wouldn’t want them tonight,
so I am sending back your invitation,
the invitation for your wedding day.
For my dearest darling
it is the only and best way.

Im Glad

Baby when I think about (about about),
The day that we first met (the day that we first met),
Wasnt looking for what I found,
But I found you,
And Im bound to,
Find happiness in being around you,
Im glad when Im making love to you,
Im glad for the way you make me feel,
I love it cause you seem to blow my mind..every-time,
Im glad when we walk you hold my hand,
Im glad that ya know how to be a man,
Im glad that you came into my life,
Im soo glad,
I dig the way that you get down (you get down for bout),
And you still know how to hold me (and you still know how to hold me),
A perfect blend, masculine (I think I know now)
I think Im in love, damn finally,
Im glad when Im making love to you,
Im glad for the way you make me feel,
I love it cause you seem to blow my mind..every-time,
Im glad when we walk you hold my hand,
Im glad that ya know how to be a man,
Im glad that you came into my life,
Im soo glad,
Im glad,
That you,
Turned out,
To be,
That certain someone special who makes this life worth living,
Im glad,
Your here,
Just loving me...
So say that you wont leave,
Cause since the day you came Ive been glad,
Im glad when Im making love to you,
Im glad for the way you make me feel,
I love it cause you seem to blow my mind..everytime,
Im glad when we walk you hold my hand,
Im glad that ya know how to be a man,
Im glad that you came into my life,
Im soo glad,

The Orphan's Song

I had a little bird,
I took it from the nest;
I prest it, and blest it,
And nurst it in my breast.

I set it on the ground,
I danced round and round,
And sang about it so cheerly,
With 'Hey my little bird, and ho my little bird,
And oh but I love thee dearly!'

I make a little feast
Of food soft and sweet,
I hold it in my breast,
And coax it to eat;

I pit, and I pat,
I call it this and that,
And sing about it so cheerly,
With 'Hey my little bird, and ho my little bird,
And ho but I love thee dearly!'

I may kiss, I may sing,
But I can't make it feed,
It taketh no heed
Of any pleasant thing.

I scolded, and I socked,
But it minded not a whit,
Its little mouth was locked,
And I could not open it.

Tho' with pit, and with pat,
And with this, and with that,
I sang about it so cheerly,
And 'Hey my little bird, and ho my little bird,
And ho but I love thee dearly.'

But when the day was done,
And the room was at rest,
And I sat all alone
With my birdie in my breast,

And the light had fled,
And not a sound was heard,
Then my little bird
Lifted up its head,

And the little mouth
Loosed its sullen pride,
And it opened, it opened,
With a yearning strong and wide.

Swifter than I speak
I brought it food once more,
But the poor little beak
Was locked as before.

I sat down again,
And not a creature stirred,
I laid the little bird
Again where it had lain;

And again when nothing stirred,
And not a word I said,
Then my little bird
Lifted up its head,
And the little beak
Loosed its stubborn pride,
And it opened, it opened,
With a yearning strong and wide.

It lay in my breast,
It uttered no cry,
'Twas famished, 'twas famished,
And I couldn't tell why.

I couldn't tell why,
But I saw that it would die,
For all that I kept dancing round and round,
And singing above it so cheerly,
With 'Hey my little bird, and ho my little bird,
And ho but I love thee dearly!'

I never look sad,
I hear what people say,
I laugh when they are gay
And they think I am glad.

My tears never start,
I never say a word,
But I think that my heart
Is like that little bird.

Every day I read,
And I sing, and I play,
But thro' the long day
It taketh no heed.

It taketh no heed
Of any pleasant thing,
I know it doth not read,
I know it doth not sing.

With my mouth I read,
With my hands I play,
My shut heart is shut,
Coax it how you may.

You may coax it how you may
While the day is broad and bright,
But in the dead night
When the guests are gone away,

And no more the music sweet
Up the house doth pass,
Nor the dancing feet
Shake the nursery glass;

And I've heard my aunt
Along the corridor,
And my uncle gaunt
Lock his chamber door;

And upon the stair
All is hushed and still,
And the last wheel
Is silent in the square;

And the nurses snore,
And the dim sheets rise and fall,
And the lamplight's on the wall,
And the mouse is on the floor;

And the curtains of my bed
Are like a heavy cloud,
And the clock ticks loud,
And sounds are in my head;

And little Lizzie sleeps
Softly at my side,
It opens, it opens,
With a yearning strong and wide!

It yearns in my breast,
It utters no cry,
'Tis famished, 'tis famished,
And I feel that I shall die,
I feel that I shall die,
And none will know why.
Tho' the pleasant life is dancing round and round
And singing about me so cheerly,
With 'Hey my little bird, and ho my little bird,
And ho but I love thee dearly!'

Love You

Dearest T…,
Great to hear from you!
I’m glad the hospital didn’t confiscate
your mobile and your laptop
this time…

but – what can I say?
I’m sorry to hear that
your break-up with the new bf
was so violent – well, at least
you’re highly trained in law h h h…

but I’m glad to hear
that you changed your mind
when you got to Zurich…
I’d like to know more of that;
but won’t ask just now..

and I’m touched that the two poems
on the riches of the self
were the first poems that you read
when you came back into the ward…
should I be glad, you silly girl,
that they ‘made your mascara run’…?

Oh dearest T - whom I love, as the self in all;
who’s stretched the love of parents, friends,
beyond all reason, to that place where only love
is left… to do what love can, may, might, do…

you’ll go on testing the – let’s say –
Absolute’s – God’s – love for you
with tests that only someone so loving,
so intelligent, so aware, so stubborn for the truth
could devise, as self-destruction…

until the day, when you’ll accept
within that sober, loving self we know so well,
that you, yourself, are but that absolute, that self, that love
which you have no need still to test; nor can;
until that day when, out of love,
your self tires of your tricks…

keep me in touch? for there are some of us
who know that love is boundless;
useless, T, to test our love for you;
and you’re too bright (alas?) for me
to tell you yet again
the consolations of philosophy..

I’ll simply write,
Look after yourself;

and look, then, at those words
as if I’d never seen or read them once before;
fall still; wish you, too, stillness;

there is no more for words.

Silence of Rumi

I read Rumi several times
And every time I went through
the same sincere silence
That unites the human with the divine
Silence of Rumi as though
Is the silence Sublime—
The heart of all sounds!

I dove deep down that silence,
A child’s wonder of sort
Why do I start my poems with words?
When they end only with silence!
His silence is deep
Deep as the existence at the bottom of the ocean
Deep as the calmness of a wise man
And yet he is in conversation
With the silence
And through it, time and again

His silence is the silence of a flute
Empty, easy and melodious
It turns separation into liberation
Oh what a joy—Rumi’s silence!
His silence is an invitation
To join the journey of the soul
A sweet beacon to lose yourself
In the Self of existence
And yet it is conversational
You can toy with it safely

Who can turn his back
Having heard Rumi’s silence
In its sincerity
In its entirety
Who can escape from Rumi’s silence
Having been there for a moment
Who can not hear his silence
Having heard it with the thumps of his heart

Oh love! Go and meet this evening
Silence of Rumi in its serenity
Of heavens
This must be the highest
Of souls
This is the highest!

We'll See How That Goes

Had you ever felt offended,
By receiving an invitation from an enterprise...
Who initially did not seek your presence inside.
Where others who patronize were welcomed to sit.
And the only reason you received an invitation...
Was to assist this enterprise from going out of business?
And it has been requested you assist them to avoid this?

Did you feel offended?
OR has this ever happened to you?
And when closed eyes finally open to a wider view,
Would you rather spend time with people like that?
Or where services are rendered...
And people without exception know how to exchange respect.
Especially when business and money is involved.

'So...
Are you going to accept the invitation? '

No.
But I may offer to buy their business.
We'll see how that goes!

The Game

On such an occasion,
Why do I say: 'Not Today'?
I don't refuse to play
But I don't like your game,
Isn't that clear?
The climate is not ready
When the conditions are only
That I accept the weather your way!

Forgive me if I don't accept
Your invitation to another round
But I would soon tear
The sticky net down
For it makes anything
To have two sides,
Attractive only to spiders and flies
And I want that curtain between us
Definitely to fall...

If it is up to me,
Boldly, I would drop
That invisible wall
And get rid of the nuisance
Once and for all...
It is as if I have an opponent
Serving me ball after ball
But I won't return them,
I want a recall! ...

I don't wish to continue the game,
The ball has dropped in my court, I see!
Do you wish me to throw it back?
And begin the same game again?
Yes, I may be a poor sportsman
But I am very bored
And I will not play this game
The same way anymore...

Bookworm

There's a story that like a dessert I love
And I enjoy every page slowly as much as I can
There's story that makes me desperate
And even my day becomes gloomy after I read
There's story that safe to be read anytime
And I don't mind if it's going up or down
There's story that could burn me to the core
And left me with desire to create another story
There's story that easily predict
And I could finish it without much thinking
There's story that has a very good cliffhanger
And I need to rush to the publisher to make it comes fast
There's story that goes like my dream
And I want to repeat over and over until I'm getting bored

I've Paid Enough For It

You are so next to the exit.
So close to an open door,
I want to push you out.

Would that be domestic abuse?
Or would that be considered,
Defending myself...
From someone rarely here,
To accept any invitation...
To appear inside my house.

And you want to know what you did?

You do nothing!
Absolutely nothing.
But graze like a cow.
Feeding me a bunch of bull.

And that's all you do!

And all I want is to be treated like one.
Give me some!
I've paid enough for it!

One Shining Moment

(vaneese thomas)
Tell me who, what, when,
Where did it start?
Tell me when, where
How did you get in my heart?
I feel your love washing over me
In waves of emotion so strong
I want to say while Ive got the chance
In the words of this song
Youre my one shining moment
You are all my dreams come true
Honey, youre my one shining moment
And if I never have another
Im glad that Ive known you
You fill up for me all the empty spaces
All the pain I ever felt, youve erased it
Is it any wonder? no way
That Im growing fonder every day
Theres a freedom that I never knew
And its all because of you, honey
Youre my one shining moment
You are all my dreams come true
Honey, youre my one shining moment
And if I never have another
Im glad that Ive known you
I wake up with you on my mind
You light up my day
There is nothing better I can find
Oh, my love, Im so proud
That I can say, hey
All my dreams wrapped
Into one under the sun, honey
Honey, youre my one shining moment
And if I never have another
Im glad that Ive known you
If I never have another
Im glad that Ive known you
Shining moment

Time Bomb?

I think i love you
But thought too late
Now it looks like
I'll have to wait
But how long am i gonna have to wait for?

You've found another
And live with her
And now i hardly see you
But think of the good times that we shared
How long am i gonna have to wait for?

Will you ever come back to me?
And start what we never started
I feel it in my heart
Still feels new
Long am i gonna have to wait for?

You always seem glad to see me
An wanna spend more time
Like i wanna spend with you
No lies
Am i gonna have to wait for?

I made you happy
Didn't i?
But it never got that far
I gonna have to wait for?

Our friends said
We were made for each other
But we never saw it then
I see it now
As clear as i see your eyes
Gonna have to wait for?

Do you love her
You said you do
But do you really mean it
Does she feel the same
Have to wait for?

What's the answer
Going to be
Will i know
Or do i carry on
To wait for?

I just don't know
Wait for?

Running outta time
For?

I Wish Lunch Could Last Forever

I wish lunch could last forever
By: jimmy buffett, jay oliver
1989
The place down the block, the one with no clock
Covert rendez-vous with you at the usual time
I savor the scent of the fish on the grill
Lifes so spicy up on bar-b-q hill
Looking good, you look so fine
Waiter bring us one more bottle of wine
Chorus:
I wish lunch could last forever
Make the whole day on big afternoon
Well begin with dessert a little coconut tart
Tastes as sweet as a piece of your heart
Cafe au lait beneath the paris moon
Dont hide your eyes just wear your disguise
Brazils in the air I swear it feels like mardi gras time
I savor the scent love that annick goutal
As we walk in time to the cathedral bells
Chorus:
I wish lunch could last forever
Make the whole day on big afternoon
Well begin with dessert a little coconut tart
Tastes as sweet as a piece of your heart
Cafe au lait beneath the paris moon
Oh yeah, uh huh, ooooh...
I wish love could last forever
Make the whole day a first time love affair
Well begin with a kiss, such a warm place to start
Let me into your life let me into your heart
Mea culpa mea culpa carnivals in the air
Well begin with a kiss, such a warm place to start
Let me into your life let me into your heart
I wish, I wish that lunch could last forever
Oh yeah, uh huh, oh, oh...
-- spoken:
Tout la jour, mademoiselle [ everyday, mademoiselle ]
Dejeuner tout la jour [ lunch every day ]
Ah oui, une boutelle de vin blanc [ ah yes, a bottle of white wine ]

The End Of The World

Go if you want to
I never tried to stop you
Know there's a reason
For all of this you're feeling
Low, it's not my call
You couldn't ever love me more
You couldn't love me more
You couldn't love...
Me - I don't show much
It's not that hard to hide you
See in a moment
I can't remember how to
Be all you wanted
I couldn't ever love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love...
You want me to cry and play my part
I want you to sigh and fall apart
We want this like everyone else
Stay if you want to
I always wait to hear you say
There's a last kiss
For all the times you run this way
It's not my fault
You couldn't ever love me more
You couldn't love me more
You couldn't love...
Love me more
Couldn't ever love me more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love
You want me to lie not break your heart
I want you to fly not stop and start
We want us like everything else
Maybe we didn't understand
Not just a boy and a girl
It's just the end of the
End of the world
Me - I don't say much
It's far too hard to make you
See in a moment
I still forget just how to
Be all you wanted
I couldn't ever love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more

Here You Are In Need Of A Fix

I've come here to inform you,
I no longer will be taking...
Anymore of your nonsense.
I've decided there is no more need,
I have of it.
None whatsoever!

'That's a relief.
I'm glad you came to my home to tell me that.
I was just about to call you,
To refuse your invitation sent.
Requesting a visit I thought made no sense.

Sylvia

(words & music by g. stephens - l. reed)
These long lonely evenings
Here I am on the phone
Wondering if she will call
She said she would write me
cause she knows Im alone
But I hear nothing at all
Im waiting for a word of love from sylvia.
You think shed never heard of love my sylvia,
But when Im with her lord, I forgive her
cause shes more than the whole world to me
Theres nothing like a word of love from sylvia
The only one Im thinking of is sylvia
Feeling so sad now, Ill be so glad now
If I just had my sylvia with me
That old weepin willow
Seems to whisper her name
Why did she go away
The tears on my pillow
Theyre not hard to explain
Theres nothing else I can say
Im waiting for a word of love from sylvia.
You think shed never heard of love my sylvia,
But when Im with her lord, I forgive her
cause shes more than the whole world to me
Theres nothing in the world like sylvia
The only one Im thinking of is sylvia
Feeling so sad now, Ill be so glad now
If I just had my sylvia with me
