You Have Nothing To 'Anyone' To Prove

SOMETIMES...
Not often,
I am amused to meet...
Someone from my childhood,
Who attempts to re-invent...
The events I lived through,
From 'their' memory!

And how good it was,
In those days long gone...
When I was made to do chores,
As other kids played...
And I was home taking out garbage,
Washing dishes...
And mopping and sweeping floors.

As I look back at those days today,
I can say I am no longer bitter...
By how I was raised.
Or the fact that I had been called names.
But a fear I did not express.
Although I walked with my head down,
Feeling insecure and shamed.
'You're gonna fix this God? '
I would 'always' ask!

Today?
I live not too far from that same neighborhood.
And God has made so many things 'right' in my life.

That bitterness that use to sit within me?
Has been replaced by so much joy these days.
~Gee...
Is this 'me' feeling all this happiness? ~

I am tempted to evaluate others.
But I can 'feel' my mother daring me to do it.
And hearing her voice whisper in my ear to say...
'Larry, you have nothing to 'anyone' to prove.'

My Childhood Lived

So glad I had been given chores to do 'then',
With activities to keep me occupied...
In the days of my youth.

I admit to feeling overwhelmed.
And I resented a lot too.
Whenever I was taking out the garbage,
Or sweeping floors...
While other children were outside playing.
And I had to do what it was to get through.

Today I look back at my childhood lived,
With a discipline restricted...
To first complete those things I did.
And grateful I am I have a respect for time,
Since now many who had wasted theirs...
Are addicted to afflictions they can not rid from their minds.

Good Ole Days

Oh, the good ole days,
why can't this day be,
the good ole days
thinking of those days,
long ago, when old age,
was on the horizon,
childhood just a step behind,
yesterday just a memory,
childhood memories when,
oh, so carefree
today the present,
will be those good ole days,
when old age is upon us
we once again wished we
were back in time and,
oh so care free.

Old Before I Die

She's taking me places
I should never have been
She's showin' me faces
I should never have seen
Well these are strange days we're livin' in today
Cest la vie I say

I hope I'm old before I die
I hope I live to relive the days gone by
I hope I'm old before I die
But tonight I'm gonna live for today
So come along for the ride
I hope I'm old before I die

She's not feeling stable
She's unable to breathe
Her heart's beating faster
So I'll ask her to leave
These are strange days we're livin' in today
Am I straight or gay

I hope I'm old before I die
I hope I live to see the day
The pope gets high
I hope I'm old before I die
Well tonight I'm gonna live for today
So come along for the ride
I hope I'm old before I die

Well these are strange days we're livin' in today
Cest la vie I say

Just a Pinch of Common Sense

I am glad not to repeat...
Those days of my youth.
Encouraged to be everything else,
Instead of what I wanted to pursue.
I was young and self expressive,
Then.
With opinions I had...
I made known,
If I chose to
Over again!
Which I did often.

Much of my life lived back then,
Was done fast tracked!
With many things done...
Today would not be condoned!
Not like that.
And I am not going to settled today,
For childlike conversation,
And a densed destination...
From someone who claims to be grown!
If I can get just a pinch of common sense...
Determined to exist within one person,
I'd be feeling at home!
But those feelings here,
Aren't shown
Not like that.
From anyone claiming ownership!

That's what makes me feel lonely.
Buried in thoughts of how things used to be.
In today where those 'used to bees' are useless!
When I think about that,
I become sad as the feeling of isolation...
Overwhelms me!
When I think about that...
I realize more,
Why you and I had to depart!

Gone are the days

My days of happiness are gone
Im feeled with days of sadness
Ive got days of gloom.

I lived my life happy once upon a time.
Now I live life sad.
My feelings awol and my emotios numb

Now gone are the good days
Replaced by the bad ones.
I ve lost my love for life.
I hate the fight.

The happy days wont return yet

Good Old Days

Oh some times I think back to when I was younger
Life was so much simpler then
Dad would be up at dawn
Hed be watering the lawn
Or maybe going fishing again
Oh and mom would be fixing up something in the kitchen
Fresh biscuits or hot apple pie
And Id spend all day long in the basement
Torturing rats with a hack-saw
And pulling the wings off of flies
Those were the good old days
Those were the good old days
The years go by but the memory stays
And those were the good old days
I can still remember good old mr. fender
Who ran the corner grocery store
Oh, hed strolled down the aisle with a big friendly smile
And hed say howdy when you walked in the door
Always treated me nice, gave me kindly advice
I dont know why I set fire to his place
Oh Ill never forget the day I bashed in his head
Well you shouldve seen the look on his face
Let me tell ya now
Those were the good old days
Those were the good old days
The years go by but the memory stays
And those were the good old days
Do you remember sweet michelle
She was my high school romance
She was fun to talk to and nice to smell
So I took her to the homecoming dance
Then I tied her to a chair and I shaved off all her hair
And I left her in the desert all alone
Well sometimes in my dreams
I can still hear the screams
Oh I wonder if she ever made it home
I tell ya
Those were the good old days
Those were the good old days
The years go by but the memory stays
And those were the good old days
Let me tell ya buddy
Those were the good old days
Those were the good old days
The years go by but the memory stays
And those were the good old days

Days Go By

You
You

You are still a whisper on my lips
A feeling at my fingertips
That's pulling at my skin

You leave me when I'm at my worst
Feeling as if I've been cursed
Bitter cold within

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Without you
Without you

You are still a whisper on my lips
A feeling at my fingertips
That's pulling at my skin

You leave me when I'm at my worst
Feeling as if I've been cursed
Bitter cold within

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Without you
Without you

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you

I and Mother

I am feeling tired, lonely and uneasy
Even though I tried to keep y self very busy
I have grown to full manhood
Yet that gives me feeling of no good

Something is longed for and I badly miss
I wish some one should come and offer kiss
The one that was offered by mother on forehead
With the affection and love that was clearly read

How secured I had felt in her lap?
Even she was offering gentle slap
That I should not be hurt with more force
She was taking enough care of course

I wish for those days to come back
Today I have everything and nothing at stake
I feel those hands which were moving on my back
Getting me nice sleep with her smiles and approach very frank

Mt whole mouth is filled with word, mother”
I know no one can fill that position either
I wish to cry in her lap and relax
Reach with happiness and those scenes of climax

How those hands were giving me relief in curly hair?
How was she creating nice melody and whisper?
Those words still sing in my ears and provide music
These were the moments I would hardly forget as basis

How old or young you are in age
You always miss her in every page
You get little tears when her memory surfaces
You become impatient to find out all her traces

What could I say today about her?
Only miss her and cry little later
That only reduces my lovely feeing
Otherwise it mains inside and simply killing

It is good to miss all
But mother is supreme with her selfless call
How would not to miss her life long?
As she was always on your side even if went wrong

Two faces to a one-sided coin

It's days like today
i feel like skipping school
Like drowning in my own bloody pool
I hate him for what was done
Wish I could hurt him for fun
On days like today.

It's days like today
That make me hate the world
My thoughts are all too swirled
Their words are deadly weapons
killing me, destroying me
On days like today.

It's days like today
i thought you were cool
But you thought me a fool
I don't know what goes on in your head
But i wish you dead
On days like today

One Of These Days

One of these days,
Im gonna sit down and write a long letter
To all the good friends Ive known
And Im gonna try
And thank them all for the good times together.
Though so apart weve grown.
One of these days,
Im gonna sit down and write a long letter
To all the good friends Ive known
One of these days, one of these days, one of these days,
And it wont be long, it wont be long.
And Im gonna thank,
That old country fiddler
And all those rough boys
Who play that rock n roll
I never tried to burn any bridges
Though I know I let some good things go.
One of these days,
Im gonna sit down and write a long letter
To all the good friends Ive known
One of these days, one of these days, one of these days,
And it wont be long, it wont be long.
From down in l.a.
All the way to nashville,
From new york city
To my canadian prairie home
My friends are scattered
Like leaves from an old maple.
Some are weak, some are strong.
One of these days,
Im gonna sit down and write a long letter
To all the good friends Ive known
One of these days, one of these days, one of these days,
And it wont be long, it wont be long.
One of these days, one of these days, one of these days,
And it wont be long, it wont be long.

Today is better than Yesterday

Yesterday

Yesterday, I was running with to feet
Yesterday, I was playing with kids
Yesterday, I was kicking the ball
Yesterday, I had it all, all was mine.

Yesterday, I was growing well,
Yesterday, I had it all undercover
Yesterday was my day
Yesterday, my days were

Yesterday, I had a lover, ‘true lover’
Yesterday, promises were made
Yesterday, promises were not kept
Yesterday, I was happy.

Yesterday, I gave him everything
Yesterday, I sacrificed everything
Yesterday, I was a fool
Yesterday, I was dying

Today

Today, I am lying in bed
Today, I am watching hopeless kids
Today, I can hardly move
Today, everything is falling

Today, I am dying in bed
Today, it is all wrong
Today, is not my day
Today, my days are not

Today, I have no one
Today, promises are broken
Today, promises are not
Today, I have no hope

Today, I long for myself
Today, I cry over spilled milk
Today, I am wise
Today, I live

Whatever happened yesterday is not
Whatever was, is not
Whatever was broken can be fixed
Whatever wound are, can be healed
Just need the Perfect Healer

Jesus I know you are! ! !

Seven Days A Week And Tweaked

When I filled to the brim,
Knowing my hip hop days were over.
And mentally I had graduated,
To levels with a taking of my life seriously.
Something within me had to address foolishness.
With a leaving behind several people,
Who still today wish to stay in playful arenas.
And can not seem to find,
A structure that defines order in their minds.
To excuse their choices made as having a good time!
Seven days a week and tweaked to celebrated...
Those times lived.
And how they use to be in those old days long gone,
They can not let go!

These Are The Days Of Our Life

Sometimes I get to feeling
I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids, when we were young
Things seemed so perfect, you know?
The days were endless, we were crazy, we were young
The sun was always shining, we just live for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately I just don*t know
The rest of my lifes been just a show
Chorus:
Those were the days of our lives
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing is true
When I look and I find, I still love you
You cant turn back the clock, you cant turn back the tide
Aint that a shame? (aint that a shame? )
Id like to go back one time on a roller coaster ride
When life was just a game
No use in sitting and thinking on what you did
When you can lay back and enjoy it through your kids
Sometimes it seems like lately I just dont know
Better sit back and go with the flow
cause these are the days of our lives
Theyve flown in the swiftness of time
These days are gone but now some things remain
When I look and I find no change
(chorus)
I still love you
Still love you

They Dont Make em Like They Used To

Its every young boys fancy
Its there hidden deep in the heart of a man
Its just a feeling
They wont ever understand
They know they gotta have one
A brand new model and its here today
And dont you know that shes made right here in the u.s.a.
(chorus)
Dont ever stop trying
Dont let her get away
They dont make em like they used to
I think theyre better than before
Its more than physical attraction
Keeps you coming back for more
Shes a home grown beauty
Shes born and raised with a mind of her own
And once you find her
Youll never want to leave her alone
Shes making you crazy
You cant live without her, shes here to stay
Dont you know that she lives right here in the u.s.a.
Chorus
They dont make em like they used to
Theyre so much better than before
Im so tired of hearing--(Im so tired)
Some people say--(what people say)
Everything is moving much too fast
Things were better in the good old days
Let them have their opinions--(let them have...)
Never gonna change their mind--(theyll never change)
They lived a long time ago
When times were tough
And a real good woman was hard to find
They dont make em like they used to
I think theyre better than before
Its more than physical attraction
That keeps you coming back for more

They dont make em like they used to

Fate:

In this life I live with a feeling, deep inside stabbing and tearing.
My heart is empty, Black and torn. these days of pain are uncomparing.
i try to ignore this guilt and sadness, i cant shake this pain and feeling.
the days grow longer, the nights grow darker this feeling i have is unwilling.

i wish it free to no longer be but my past has left me a great memory.
This memory within tears me apart, i wish to erase it from my mind and heart.
the memory of happiness that tears me apart, i only wish to flee from this tormenting memory.
to flee and run to escape my fate that is yet to come.
I cannot stop it, no matter how far i run, this fate will haunt me till its done.

Through This Slow Involving Process

I've known of sacrifice and limitation,
Most of my life.
I've observed those with wealth,
Drive through my neighborhood.
With noses turned up,
And windows closed tight.

I've walked amongst the rich downtown,
Holding their heads down as I passed.
Or sniff their noses as if I smelled of trash.
They wanted me to notice,
How insignificant they wanted me to feel.
Beneath them.

I never thought I would see a day...
Shine so brightly as these days today.
Times change and forgiveness occurs.
A growth process takes place.
A radiance of faith and hope,
Sparkles within the eyes of so many.

I'm not too quick to forget,
Someone spitting in my face.
Or being disgraced by unfaithful mates.
Or having my name slandered...
All over the place,
By those delighting in character assassinations.
But...
I'm 'trying' to forgive!

However...
I 'am' reminded,
The process of higher consciousness has begun taking affect.
And since I've been 'accused' of being intelligent...
What has happened in my past I 'should' forget!
As if I live my life emotionless.
Empty and free of a feeling to feel!

'Oh do I have some news for some folks.
I am not provoked without storing that away,
In my memory file entitled, 'Things To Address'

But I express my feelings like this...
Seriously.
'I am 'still' a work-in-progress!
And I am doing my very best...
Not to feel sheer joy and happiness,
When someone gets a 'payback'...
Received from a time when they did not mind,
Causing me much duress, anger and bitterness to digest.
And from this...
I am hoping to heal.
Through this slow involving process,
Without expressing too much laughter! '

God 'Is' so good all the time...
Aint He?

These Days

Well I've been out walking
I don't do too much talking these days
These days
These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do for you
And all the times I had a chance to
And I had a lover
But it's so hard to risk another these days
These days
And if I seem to be afraid
To live the life that I have made in song
Well it's just that I've been losing for so long
So I'll keep on moving
Things are bound to be improving
These days
One of these days
These days I sit on cornerstones
And count the time in quartertones to ten
My friend
Don't confront me with my failures

Brotherly Love

How could you say such a hurtful thing to your younger brother,
and that I received more love than you from our dearest mother?
What on Earth made you say such a thing to me
and what did you think my response would be?

I think you said it to be spiteful and to cause me hurt and pain.
Are you trying to make me feel guilty? Man, you're really insane.
You've got some sort of problem and I think it's jealousy,
but why should you feel this way especially about me?

Is it because I'm creative and see my projects through,
where is thinking about something is too much for you.
Maybe it's because you're a man who's naturally ham fisted,
is this the reason you're so bitter and emotionally twisted?

Your problem must go back to the time when I was born,
when you had everything your way and never suffered scorn.
My arrival must have made you feel an uncomfortable second best,
with me getting all the attention and you with much less.

No longer were you our mother's only pride and joy,
you had to share her with another little boy.
You were also given an added responsibility,
and watching over me took away your liberty.

At the age of five you wasn't supposed to leave me alone
not in a dark cinema, or a long way from home.
Why did you run off and leave me in the centre of the park,
for a stranger to find and take me home in the dark?

From those early childhood days that you resented me,
all I wanted was your love and company.
As I grew older you became ever more distant,
but you were still a bully and most persistent.

And when I was twenty and you were twenty-six
I'd had enough of your childish tricks.
I no longer tolerated your humiliating ways,
the worm turned to end your bullying days.

Carrying that jealousy must have eaten you away
if you can still make such remarks today.
Why don't you try to think of me as your loving brother?
Believe it or not I love you as no other.
