Two Women
Two women in my life,
Left impressions deep on me.
These two women did for others,
Unselfishly...
And did good deeds.
The work they did was hard,
But they never gave up!
No matter what was on their path,
I never heard them fuss or cuss.
And Clara,
And Edna...
Still have me awestruck!
My grandma,
And mama...
Left lots of love for me to touch!
The work they did was hard,
But they never gave up!
No matter what was on their path,
I never heard them fuss or cuss.
And Clara,
And Edna...
Still have me awestruck!
My grandmama,
And mama...
Left lots of love for me to touch!
Two women in my life...
Left impressions deep on me.
These two women did for others,
Unselfishly...
And did good deeds.
Clara and Edna,
Still have me awestruck!
My grandmama,
And mama...
Left lots of love for me to touch!

My Mama Didn't Raise No Punk
Let me say this...
My mama didn't raise no punk!
Not when she would slam dunk me,
Away from public view.
Or dared me not to do those things,
She told me to.
Or take my time!
Mama came from the old school.
And she didn't hesitate,
To strike fire to my behind.
Let me say this...
My mama didn't raise no punk!
She knew exactly what she was doing with me.
She raised me to become independent.
Not a chump.
I was raised to use my mind.
And defend my thoughts!
And any gift I got from mama,
Is was bought for me because it was earned!
Like those whippings for my backtalk.
My mama didn't have easy lessons taught.
None that I remember were for me quickly learned.
But over time I did.
Since I didn't like to sit...
On a burned butt after getting whipped!
Eventually they sunk in...
Those lessons.
Deep.
To stay.
If I was ever to become a punk...
It was going to be done mama's way.
With a tormenting whipping,
As she held me,
Screaming...
'I've got it, if you want it.
And you're going to get it good.
What's my name? '
Mama.
'What is it? '
Mama.
'And don't you forget it!
Who's your mama? '
You're my mama, mama!
'That's right!
And don't you forget it,
Not one bit.
Or I'll be back to give you more...
Of some of this.
Don't play with me, boy! '

Mama Was Phenonmenal
My mama was phenonmenal.
And even to this day...
Whatever I say could not convey,
The understanding and talents,
Of this woman.
We receive blessings,
And take them for granted.
We who have been spolied by this...
Think it's okay to do exactly as we wish.
But when gifts are given,
We must eventually share.
They are not ours to store and keep.
We must give them away...
As if an abundance for us is reaped.
My mama was phenonmenal.
And even to this day...
Whatever I say could not convey,
The understanding and talents,
Of this woman.
So rich in kindness.
With so much love...
She had in her to spare.
Yes sometimes I admit I became jealous.
Until I understood the many lessons taught...
She gave to me to ensure I was prepared.

And my grandfather is proud...
He even remembered the names of everyone!
And I soon will be 61 myself.
Feeling blessed,
I was produced from this nest!
And we 'all' had nicknames too.
Some of us had more than one!
Many of us had quite a few.
And grandma made sure,
She fed her 'crew'!

There Goes My Baby
I use to find myself staring at her.
She was so very beautiful,
My mother.
'Boy, why are you staring at me? '
~Ma, you are so pretty! ~
'Okay, what do you want?
I don't have any more money,
For you to buy another 45.'
I use to 'stay' in Roz Records.
It was a music store,
Not far from our apartment in Bellevue Square.
On Canton Street.
In Hartford, Connecticut.
I remember my first 45...
'There Goes My Baby'
By the Drifters!
I would play it 'all' the time.
~Ma, you so pretty! ~
'Boy, you better get out of my face.
And go play with the other kids in the playground.'
I did it!
Like a chore.
Children bored me back then!
They were so...'childish'.
And I was born a grown man.
I was!
But that's a different story.
I think most boys become infatuated,
With their mothers first.
Giving wives competition they did not expect.
And most men who had been mama's boys...
Usually divorce.
To be left on missions,
To find someone to spoil them!
I know.
I've been married twice.
To do that 'thrice'
Would be absolutely foolish.
'Huh...ma? '

Ban The Void
Ban the void.
Tch.
Ban the void.
Tch, tch.
Ban the void.
Tch.
Ban the void.
Tch, tch.
Grandma stopped baking cakes.
Tch.
Ban the void.
Tch, tch.
Brought me my first heartbreak.
Tch.
Ban the void.
I told her I couldn't take it.
She 'had' to bake another cake for me!
Tch.
Ban the void.
She said she was going on strike!
Tch.
Ban the void.
And even though I didn't like it!
Tch.
Ban the void.
She's not gonna cook in the kitchen,
She's itching to do something else to please!
Tch
Ban the void.
Tch.
Ban the void.
She brought herself a brand new car.
Tch.
Ban the void.
Tch, tch.
And drove to wherever she wanted.
Tch.
Ban the void.
She said she had her own special needs.
And will come and go whenever that need pleases!
Tch.
Ban the void.
I got so annoyed...
And I tried to stop that void deep down in me!
Oh...
Ban the void!
I couldn't go to sleep!
I dreamt of grandma's baking,
And it teased me!
I even cried my eyes.
But grandma's sweet potato pie kept creepin'.
Oh...
Ban the void!
Ban the void!
Oh...
Ban the void.
Grandma loved her brand new car.
And never got one ticket,
For her speedin'!
Ban the void.
Tch.
Ban the void.
Tch, tch.
Ban the void.

Don't be concerned about what others say about you.
Just do what you do and be done with it.
One day you will silence their lips.

Now go outside and play.

Evil Edna
Evil Edna she wore sequins to the funeral
Looked just like a gypsy
Never shed a tear
Everybody said she looked just like a hooker
Everyone mistook her for the loser of the year
Still the voices of the prophets
Tell us we should live just so
Ah Edna didn't care
Enda did not know
Two weeks later, Edna laughed at her confession
Laughed just like a gypsy
Gave the nuns a chill
Everybody said she'd never be forgiven
Everybody cursed her, said that she was ill
Still the voices of the prophets
Tell us we should live just so
Ah Edna didn't care
Oh she did not know
Just the other day I heard some people talkin'
Edna went out walkin' and she passed away
No one knew exactly just what happened
No one came to mourn her, we all stayed away

Women's propaganda must touch upon all those questions which are of great importance to the general proletarian movement. The main task is, indeed, to awaken the women's class consciousness and to incorporate them into the class struggle.

Papa Was A Rollin' Stone
it was the third of september
that day I'll always remember, yes I will
'cause that was the day that my daddy died
never had a chance to see him, no
never heard nothing but bad things about him
mama, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth
mama just hung her head and said
chorus
"papa was a rollin' stone
wherever he laid his hat was his home
and when he died
all he left us was alone"
(repeat)
hey, mama, is it true what they say
that papa never worked aday in his life
some bad talk going around sayin'
papa had three outside children
and another wife
that ain't right
heard some talk about papa and his storefront
preachin'
talkin' about saving souls and all the time
leachin'
and dealing in dirt
stealin' in the name of the Lord
but mama she just said
chorus
say I heard my papa was a jack of all trades
is that what papa sent to an early grave?
folks say papa would beg, borrow or steal just
to pay his bills
hey, mama, folks say papa was never much in thinkin'
spent most of his time chasin' women and drinkin'
but mother, I'm depending on you
to tell me the truth
but my mama she just said

Oh I Must Go Home To Millstreet
The singing birds of Millstreet are calling, calling me
In my dreams I hear them whistling far beyond the deep wide sea
The green, green wood by Clara hill is always on my mind
On the day that I left Millstreet I left my heart behind.
Buttercups bloomed by the grass fringed rills and larks piped in the skies
As I said goodbye to Clara hill with teardrops in my eyes
The blue bluebells were blooming along the green bohreens
On the day that I bade farewell to Millstreet and her meadows and her streams.
The farmers mow the lush green meads that surround Millstreet Town
As the heathery face of Clara on them lovingly looks down
The shlaun men shlaun the shiny dark peat and the pikes are on the sway
In Gneeves bog outside of Millstreet on this bright Summer's day.
Oh I must go back to Ireland to the Land where I was born
Just to hear again the birds sing on a Spring like April morn
Oh I must go home to Millstreet for 'tis there I'd love to die
And be buried under Millstreet earth beneath an Irish sky.

Uxley Knew Nothing of Women.
Uxley understood nothing of women.
He knew nothing of women except
Some dark memory of his mother’s teats
Buried deep in his mind’s depth.
Women, his father said, are an enigma,
An unsolvable puzzle, that no man
Can understand or get to grips with
No matter how old he is or gets.
Uxley missed his father’s words,
His narrow perspective, his keen eye
For the women’s physique, his philosophy
Of the Eve dilemma, the apple in the Garden
Of Eden problem. Uxley never married,
Never had sex, never saw a woman naked,
Except a onetime quick glimpse of his mother
Passing naked through the hall one cold Fall.
Even at cafes, sitting drinking coffee with friends,
He seldom gave the passing girls a second glance,
Not like his friends with their whistles and words
And wormy wishes. He sat and looked away,
Thinking the second sex a different species,
An area best left untouched, unknown,
Best left to the suckers who drowned
In the dark beneath. He recalled his mother
Clothed in the long robes, the tall thin features,
The drawn painted lips his father kissed,
The long red nails that jabbed in his back
To push him to school or bath, and there
In that memory her dark eyes and haughty laugh.

Women are The Best
Woman, Femme
Mujer, Mama
Soul, Ame
Fleur, Flora
Life is beautiful
With so many other wonderful
Languages
Throughout the ages
Women continue to be
The reasons why we are alive
I gave all women 5/5
For their external
And their internal
Beauty
They come under different name
At the end of the day, they are all the same
The Earth will always be round
No matter what, no matter what sound
They express under stress
They still clean our mess
Women are the best
Because they ace all of the tests.

Get On Mama's Wrong Side
Take opportunities to appreciate Mother Nature.
Hasn't 'she' encouraged your development?
And continues to nourish you throughout your life,
Wherever you went inspite of your questionable habits.
Like a doting mother would do,
No matter what it is you put her through.
She seems to be there.
Although sometimes changing,
Her caring mood.
Do 'mama' right.
And mama will always do right by you.
Get on mama's wrong side...
And mama will not soon let you forget it.

It's Hard To Reach Out To People
Too many people nap and nod.
To awaken to escape or dodge...
Those moments that,
Come and stun.
Those moments that,
Numb some!
Too many people nap and nod.
To awaken to escape or dodge...
Those moments that,
Come and stun.
Those moments that,
Numb some!
It's hard to reach out to people,
Who don't believe in keeping in touch...
With themselves so much.
And it's hard to reach out to people,
Who don't believe in keeping in touch...
But will cuss and fuss.
Too many people nap and nod.
To awaken to escape or dodge...
Those moments that,
Come and stun.
Those moments that,
Numb some!
And it's hard to reach out to people,
Who don't believe in keeping in touch...
But will cuss and fuss.
It's hard to reach out to people,
Who don't believe in keeping in touch...
With themselves so much.
Yes it's hard to reach out to people,
Who don't believe in keeping in touch...
With themselves so much.
And it's hard to reach out to people,
Who don't believe in keeping in touch...
But will cuss and fuss.
It's hard to reach out to people,
Who are out of mind and out of touch.
It's hard to reach out to people,
Who want to cuss and fuss so much.
It's hard to reach out to people,
Who are out of mind and out of touch.
It's hard to reach out to people,
Who want to cuss and fuss so much.
It's hard to reach out to people,
Who want to cuss and fuss so much.

Who want to cuss and fuss so much.

Let It Shine
Clap your hands, make a smile
Let me know you hear me
Stay a while, play with me
Long as you are near me
Way to go, straight I know
Love to hear your laughter
Without a care you are there
Together ever after
Me and you comin through
Its what we got together
Lay it down, make it work
No matter what the weather
We got lots of soul, lots of love
Without a thought of givin unselfishly
You and me all the love were given
See the light
Let it shi-i-i-ine
Let it shine
Down on me
Feeling good
Knew I wou-----ould
Ever since
You set me free

Mama was my angel
Her touch to me was gentle,
Her voice was soft and mild,
Mama was my angel,
And I her loving child.
Her love for me was pure,
So precious and so dear,
Mama was my angel,
Who washed away each tear.
The gift of life she gave me,
Cared for me like no other,
Mama was my angel,
And a dear and precious Mother.
Her life on earth is now over,
But I still love her as before,
Mama was my angel,
Is now and for evermore.
