These Jewels Have Been Misused
Sometimes in the back winds that blow...
I can hear my ancestors voices.
I sense their struggles and pain to maintain.
I see those same strains on faces of my color!
And I think of how these jewels have been so misused.
And it is said I am embittered.
I carry anger on my back like an overnight pack!
Pacing to dump it somewhere.
Disliking what my choices are!
Well...
I never saw my mama or my poppa jumping with glee
Wiping beads of sweat from their brows!
Their parents capture that picture!
I heard my daddy and mother saying what wasn't right.
And at Christmastime they would argue and fight...
Over why too much was to give with too little to none!
How I reminisce the fun years.
I admit I see injustice.
I admit I have to wade through a pool of ignorance.
I agree what I see I have taken personally.
I agree when folks stare at me I get a little annoyed...
Especially when I say hello and they say 'NO THING'!
That slightly gets me nudged to the 'edge'
And I agree hearing young people calling themselves
Out of their names and bring their mamas in it...
Kinda stands the hair on my back straight up!
BUT...
I do agree,
I have a lot to work on controlling my tolerance for BS!
It's at an all time low!
And I'm not going to go crazy about it.
I am alot like my grandfather.
He would go outside to the garage,
And begin to fix the engine of a truck he had,
For years!
At least for fifteen or twenty years,
I saw my grandfather work on the same engine.
I saw that truck move one time!
My uncles, cousins and I were pushing it...
And he was behind the wheel!

Wouldn't You Agree
When i first met you
You stood by my side
And when you asked me to be yours
You made me cry
And so i was prepared
To take all the blows at the chin
But you never mentioned cheating
Please tell me what happened
What makes you think
You'd get away with that
Talking to my best friend
Behind my back
Look waht you did to us
Look what you did to me
What a wonderful love loss
Wouldn't you agree
She introduced me to you
Said you were just friends
She showed me you were the one for me until the end
Now i should have known
By the magic between you two
That angel faces like yours can lie too
Can lie too
Look what you did to us
Look what you did to me
What a wonderful love loss
Wouldn't you agree
Wouldn't you agree
Wouldn't you agree
Wouldn't you agree
Wouldn't you agree
When i see my friends
They've got to know
I not only lost a friend
But now my hearts about to explode
Now there's something i'd like to say before i make my alternative
Oh god
Oh god
Do you see that
Did you see that
There they go
There they go
How could you do this to me
You kept lyin in my face

You See...There Was Just Too Many Of Us!
I smell my grandmother's molasses cookies.
Deep dish apple and peach pies.
And grape preserves she would make.
And my own mother's beautiful hair,
Before she grayed.
And 'overnight'...
Seemed to have aged.
As I sit and reminisce.
About so many things I miss!
I see my grandfather,
Working in the backyard.
In the shed.
Where he 'diagnosed' the engine...
Of an old truck.
With every part of it laid in pieces.
Each of them,
Carefully spread to keep them near.
'Don't...
Move,
A thing!
Or pick it up...
Because you're curious!
I got my eye on ya! '
I hear my father say...
'It is time to get your haircut, boy.
And when you sit in that barber's chair...
You bet not make a fuss!
And don't say nothing to annoy! '
I remember my aunts and uncles...
Rushing to pick apples, grapes and pears.
From an old pig farm,
Where Chappelle Gardens now sits.
In a neighborhood in Hartford, Connecticut.
I remember this as if yesterday!
And the whippings we all shared.
Regardless...
Of who or who was not actually there!
No one was spared.
'I don't care who did what!
All of you are getting it! '
My grandmother would say!
I remember rolling my eyes...
With wishes I could run away!
~Grandma, I didn't do anything.
It was her! ~
*No it wasn't it was him! *
**No it wasn't it was them! **
You see...
There was just too many of us!
And my grandmother didn't really care.
She just wanted all of us to know...
The punishment she dealt,
Would be quick.
Honest.
And fair!
Note:
Dedicated to my wonderful family.
When we (many of us) all lived in either Stowe Village,
And/or Bellevue Square.
Tenement projects.
In separate buildings AND apartments.
Back in 'the day'.
Love you!

Henry
Mary and I were twenty-two
When we were wed;
A well-matched pair, right smart to view
The town's folk said.
For twenty years I have been true
To nuptial bed.
But oh alas! The march of time,
Life's wear and tear!
Now I am in my lusty prime
With pep to spare,
While she looks ten more years than I'm,
With greying hair.
'Twas on our trip dear friends among,
To New Orleans,
A stranger's silly trip of tongue
Kiboshed my dreams:
I heard her say: 'How very young
His mother seems.'
Child-bearing gets a woman down,
And six had she;
Yet now somehow I feel a clown
When she's with me;
When cuties smile one cannot frown,
You must agree.
How often I have heard it said:
'For happy fate,
In age a girl ten years ahead
Should choose her mate.'
Now twenty years to Mary wed
I know too late.

This Gets Instant Silence
Have you ever had an argument,
With someone you agreed with?
But they did not realize you were agreeing,
Because they became offended with the belief...
You were patronizing their intelligence.
And they felt insecure about this being done?
In debate...
Just agree with the opposite sex.
Just do it.
And whether they are right or wrong...
Just agree.
I learned that years ago.
At first...
I use to disagree,
With someone I felt wrong.
NOW?
Today?
Depending on 'who' it is,
I may have to argue because I'm in agreement.
I know this makes no sense.
But some people you just can't leave.
They don't want it known they are right!
They want to 'jackhammer' it in...
Through a stack of beaten horses.
'I am NOT right.
So don't you dare agree with me.'
AND...
If you happen to be romantically involved?
Just sit and don't say nothing.
Or try.
With crossed fingers AND eyes.
And with a little tilt to the head to the side.
I promise this gets instant silence.

Disagreement
With you, I do not always agree
Because I am not your ‘mini-me.'
Over the years, I have grown
And now have opinions of my own.
It must be a big shock when you find
I'm capable of making up my own mind.
From the things you say, I can tell,
That you think you know me very well.
You often say ‘I think this, don't you? '
But often I hold a very different view;
I do not mean to disagree,
But I am not you: I am me.
I do not mean to be a right pain,
But you and I are not the same.
It is all very well keeping the peace,
But, my own views, I like to release.
Sometimes I agree for a quiet life:
Not wanting to cause trouble or strife;
But it is hard to agree all of the time
When the views you hold are not mine.

You've Got To Show
Yes it's true
I've gotten very
Moody over you
Don't think i don't
Sense your caution
Way across the room
Or across the phone lines
Big black ocean
Conversation brief
We can't find
A clear connection
And i can't get relief
Why don't we both agree
We're both afraid
And too afraid to say
If i say
Count to three
(count to three)
Move toward me
(move toward me)
Would you meet me half the way
(would you meet me)
There are a thousand things about me
I want only you to know
But i can't go there alone
You've got to show
While you occupy me
I command my dreams
Each day
To bring you in me
Even thinly
As the morning chases you away
I half believe
If i just picture us
We will come true
Wishful thinking
Or my hopes sinking
Half depends on you
Why don't we both agree
(why don't we both agree)
We're both afraid
And too afraid to say
(too afraid to say)
If i say
Count to three
(count to three)
Move toward me
(move toward me)
Would you meet me half the way
(would you meet me)
There are a thousand things about me
I want only you to know
But i can't got there alone
You've got to show me
(show me)
You are fully alive
If you want to fly
Take this dive
If you want to kiss
Kiss for real
I'll give you back everything you feel
Drive in space
That peaceful place
You'd be my secret sharer
Front and back
And all around
The thin margin of error
Ah move too fast
Or move too slow
Or somewhere in between
Or navigate your
Perfect distance
Your getaway is clean
Why don't we both agree
That we're both afraid
And we're too afraid to say
If i say
Count to three
And move toward me
Would you meet me half way
Cause there are a thousand things about me
I want only you to know
I want only you to know
I want only you to know
But i can't got there alone
You've got to show

People And Their Situations Do Change
If it is true you knew,
How I felt in those times...
Where were you,
To help me empty...
Those many buckets of tears,
I cried.
If it is true,
My struggles with agony...
Had been something you knew.
If it is true you knew,
Who planted obstacles on my path...
Why were you not there for me at all?
And when I reach out to you,
You dismissed me and laughed.
If it 'is' true you knew,
What I was going through...
You said nothing about it,
Until several years have passed.
And,
If it is true you knew...
Anything about me at all,
Why have you waited until today...
To appear to say,
You are experiencing your own downfall.
To what degree of an empathy,
Do expect from me...
To receive?
'People and their situations change.'
I couldn't say that any better.
I agree.
Trust me.
And that person you say you knew back then,
Has matured to improve...
On my expectations of 'friends'.
And can see people and things as they are.
With a re-arrangement done to philosophies,
Without a passing of judgement on them.
'People and their situations change.'
I couldn't say that any better.
I agree.
Trust me.
And I've been blessed with a peace,
I am going to protect and keep.
And all I can do is wish you the best.
With a peacefulness I am feeling.
Hoping one day,
The same for you will come your way.
People and their situations do change.
Of that,
I totally agree.
But an empathy from me you wish to receive...
Was not from you,
Ever given to me from you to give...
To believe you can receive.
I agree...
People and their situations do change,
A lot!

The Bed
the bed is all that matters now
it has become the central solution
to all the problems of the house
I agree with Freud after all he made sense
for all those troubling years of his lifetime
that to all these marital misunderstandings
the bed has always been the solution
why do wives leave their husbands?
simply because of the unused bed
where time has been spent mostly for sleeping
now, i have felt what father used to confide
that the bed, yes the bed, is always the solution
even when both of them are nearing their 60s
and father did all the bed grooming
at my age now i must agree
i must say i completely agree
we always do it on the bed and the problem is solved.
yes, we do the serious talking there.

Mutual antipathy.
Mutual antipathy
monotetra
I cannot say with certainty
that I am right though I might be.
You have the right to disagree.
I will consider carefully
the reasons that you offer me.
As to why you can’t agree.
I think that very possibly
there’s little possibility
That you will ever agree with me
You can’t admit that I might be
correct. Because you dislike me.
You are not thinking logically
I cannot claim with honesty
that I am quite prejudice free.
I don’t like you, you don’t like me.
At least on that we can agree.

But The Best For You
Music : klaus meine
Lyrics: klaus meine
Let me tell you something
In the darkness of the room
Im leaning back against the wall
Try to walk on broken glass
A cut so deep just hurts so bad
I remember what you said
Tears were rollin down your face
And after alls been said and done
Youre a woman, Im a man
Could I turn back the time again
You must know by now
I wont let you down
Whatever comes along the way
Dont you agree that one thing is true
Im not the best, but the best for you
And I step outside the door (step outside the door)
Blinded by a million lights
In the valley of the fools (in the valley of the fools)
Another day went by so fast
What in the world will ever last
You must know by now
I wont let you down
Whatever comes along the way
Dont you agree that one thing is true
Im not the best, but the best for you
Theres nothin else that we have got
But our love is like a rock
Standing up against the tide
Theres nothin else that we have got
But our love is like a rock
Standing up against the tide
You must know by now
I wont let you down
Whatever comes along the way
Dont you agree that one thing is true
Im not the best, but the best for you
You must know by now
I wont let you down
Whatever comes along the way
Dont you agree that one thing is true
Im not the best, but the best for you
Dont you agree that one thing is true

Im not the best, but the best for you
Im not the best, but the best for you

Your Ideas Of War
Your ideas of war and war heroes are your own and that's okay with me
But when you tell me war leads to peace with you I can't agree
Bad feelings between people who have been to war for years and years remain
In war as well as the needless loss of life friends you don't ever gain
Even for the so called winners of the war the price is huge to pay
And yet of war and rumours of war we read and hear of every day
Millions have died or have been injured in wars and in war only heartbreak
And far too many people fail to realize that war is a huge mistake
When you say that war is not a bad thing in that you are not alone
But let the one who is free of sin be the first to cast the stone
That you are entitled to your point of view with me is quite okay
Though I for one do not agree with what you have to say
Of war and your ideas on it which to all you like to make known
And though your ideas are different to mine like 'tis said to each their own.

Don't Worry
my secerts are coming out,
every lie gets bigger and bigger,
afraid of what people might find,
scares me to death,
i want one thing,
but what i want,
is not agreeable,
to die and ease the pain,
would you agree?
life gets hard take the easy way out.
wouldn't you do the same?
call me crazy,
you don't know me,
or what i go through,
it my choice,
to choose what i want,
back off,
i know what i want,
don't stop me,
i just want to go,
set me free,
from this pain and sarrow,
that left in this world,
wouldn't you agree?
i love you all,
but, my choice is almost made up,
just let me go i'll be fine.

That's What This Process Is
If there is anything I've ever done,
That has not been true to the gift I was given.
And represented to invoke the growth,
And the understanding of it.
I think that would be okay!
I've laid down some 'art'.
Not the greatest.
And perhaps rated,
As not my best effort.
I will be the first to agree.
I am still in My Father's
Creative hands.
There is going to be some blemishes,
Before enhancements.
Who doesn't know that's what this process is?
If it is not...
I am not the one to argue over your assessment,
About this and whatever this is we are living.
Would you agree with what?
'Would I agree with what? '
That we are living?
'Man, I don't know what you're talking about.
You left me when you began opening your mouth.
Whenever your eyes start to glaze over...
I know you are about to receive a whiff,
Of some self contained joy.
But,
If I'm not mistaken.
I believe I asked you,
If you wanted to go to Eddie's and play pool! ?
'...I've laid down some art.'
What in the hell does that mean?
I've laid some down too.
And I was glad when that 'art' departed.
Shucks...
I can do a lap dance better than that! '
I think we are understanding the same thing.
However,
My depictions do add a bit of 'color'.
'You drinkin' Jack 'and' smokin' crack? '

Get That Fat Back Offa My Rack
Get that fat back offa my rack.
No need to take a nap.
Bags you've got I want them pack.
Get your fat back right offa my rack.
No need to take a nap.
Bags you've got I want them packed.
Get that fat back offa my rack.
I wont invite the mood...
To lay in bed with you.
Get that fat back offa my rack.
Re-writing history,
Does not agree with me.
So get that fat back offa my rack.
I want my happiness..
With a life I wish and miss.
Whatever we lost will not be backtracked...
To see if we got it,
When the getting wasn't coming at the time.
And I am not trying now to find it.
So get that fat back offa my rack.
I wont invite the mood...
To lay in bed with you.
Re-writing history,
Does not agree with me.
So get your bags pack fast and get a new act.
I wont invite the mood...
To lay in bed with you.
Just to prove I'll miss you there!

Let's Protect Them
Those animals who are so badly abused,
Please everyone, let's protect them;
For those scared puppies and kittens confused,
Let's all agree, and really protect them.
For those poor whales swimming and are caught,
Let's please, stick with me to protect them;
To stop the cruelty to them, for their bodies are they bought,
Yes'. Please every one, agree to protect them.
For those seals so far away, of whom are killed,
Please everyone do try with me to protect them;
To stop the cruelty of how their blood is spilt,
Please most certainly agree to protect them.
For the bears and cubs, locked in chains,
Let's all agree to really go to protect them;
The cruel owners, and no one explains,
Let's try all, to get help to protect them.
For the dogs and cats, away in a farm,
Lets each one say no, but protect them;
Each time we hear of this cruelty, ring the alarm,
Then agree everybody, yes! We will protect them.

Doctor To My Disease
Ive been treated for mild depression
And Ive been treated for growing pains.
Ive been treated for hallucinations;
Now I can see it all coming again.
Well, you can wind me up. yeah, you can slow me down.
You can dig a little, and you can mess me around.
But theres one thing I should tell you, to which
You must agree:
Theres no use you playing doctor to my disease.
Said its no use you playing doctor to my disease.
I got no cure for this condition
That youve been causing me tonight.
Well, you put my heart in overdrive:
Hand me the bullet I must bite.
You can stir me up and you can cut me down.
You can probe a little, push that knife around.
But theres one thing I should tell you, to which
You must agree:
Its no use you playing doctor to my disease.
Do you have to break my engine
So you can fix it up again?
Tuned to crazy imperfection
Just to score me out of ten.
Well, you can wind me up. yeah, you can slow me down.
You can dig a little. yeah, you can mess me around.
But theres one thing I should tell you, to which
You must agree:
That its no use you playing doctor to my disease.

No More Homework, No More Tests
(I was going through my cousins papers after he died and found this. I decided to put this up here today... he left all his works of peoetry to me and some of them we wrote together. I may start to put up some of his poetry on here, i dunno.)
No more homework! No more tests!
We the students of the USA certainly agree,
That’s that the thing for me.
Now I am elected,
To tell you all,
It was a all around vote, we all defiantly agree,
That no more homework, no more tests,
Are the things for us students you see.
We already learn, and (devote) we hope, hours of our time.
So I hope you can agree and certainly see the point we are making.
Less grading for you, more fun for us,
So please, we beg you,
No more homework! No more tests!

A Poem of Hunting, Fishing, and a Truck
I throw my gun in the back of my truck
With it I hope to kill a 12-point buck
While in the woods, BANG! I see the deer fall
I take him home, freeze the meat, and mount his horns on my wall
I grab my pole and tackle box and head to the lake
At this time in the morning, I feel barely awake
There is no school today, I’m glad there is no class
A mighty tug on my line, I hook a large mouth bass
There is nothing like hunting; waiting for the kill
Cutting and cleaning the meat my freezer I’ll soon fill
Deer steaks and deer jerky have such a great taste
And with his head on my wall nothing goes to waste
I like fishing, fishing is fun
Fishing underneath the rising sun
I like catching the fish and putting them in a net
Fish is a great dish when the table is set
My truck is unstoppable; it can’t beat
I slam the door and strap myself in the seat
I start the engine and press the gas to the floor
My truck takes off and my engine lets out a roar
I wouldn’t be able to hunt or fish if it wasn’t for my truck
With it I carry poles, guns, and my fallen buck
I pull my boat with my truck in four-wheel-drive
At my destination I always arrive

Diesel In The Dust
My daddy told me boy, you only shoot to kill
Im livin just for that thrill
Nobody hurts me cos the paybacks twice as bad
In this town you dont make a man mad
* ted mckinleys dying
At the wheel of his truck
The engine running till it seized up
And nobody heard a thing
Not a shout or gun shot ring
Just a smell of diesel in the dust
(diesel in the dust)
Mckinley wouldnt back down from any man alive
But you need to if youre to survive
The folks in town wanna settle their score
By using their own kinda law
* repeat
[instrumental]
No one had seen a thing when the sheriffs car pulled in
Just the silence you get from kin to kin
The preacher bowed his head, glad that he was dead
And the better the least that was said
* repeat
In this town there was a man out on his own
With no account of how he stood alone
Nobody hear a thing, not a shout or gun shot ring
Just the smell of diesel in the dust
Diesel in the dust
