The 'Backturners

Who are those people turning their backs,
When others walk pass them.

'The young people refer to them,
As the 'backturners'.
They are quick to do that to anyone they perceive,
Have ambitions to assist them...
With needs they may have in the community.'

That makes not a bit of sense.
They do it as if they wish to offend someone.

'They do.
It is done to ensure they are noticed.
And one is suppose to have their feelings hurt,
By their actions.
It's tradition.
And visitors around the world...
Come here just to see them turn their backs.'

I don't get it.
How is this act benefitting them?

'It doesn't.
But as a tourist event?
People come here to spend their money.
And not a dime does that go towards this community.
And...
The backturners complain about it.'

Yeah...
But,
Aren't they the ones who turn their backs?

'I live here.
I'm not trying to figure that out anymore.
And all of them I know personally.'

Maybe they will listen to you?

'I'm sorry.
My ears have closed shut.
Did you say something? '

I said...
Maybe they will listen to you?

'I'm sorry.
My ears have closed shut.
Did you say something? '

If You Don't From Them Leave!

When mouths are open and ears are closed...
Walk away from this.
Do not hesitate,
As if waiting for this to change.
Walk away from this.
People have been conditioned and trained,
Not to hear or further listen.
Pieces of what they miss is impatiently dismissed
Walk away from this.
When mouths are open and ears are closed...
People will choose ignorance to expose.
Since they have been conditioned to not listen.
And folks convinced like these...
Will bring you to your knees,
If you don't from them decide you should leave!
If you don't from them leave! ,
You're doomed to grieve.
Minds like these are locked without a key.
Walk away from this.
People have been conditioned and trained,
Not to hear or further listen.
Pieces of what they miss is impatiently dismissed
Walk away from this.
Before your life becomes a misery.
And choose to move and do it instantly.

Why Can't You Listen?

Why can't you listen?
Why can't you hear words from Me?
Why can't you sit and just be...
To listen.
Listen.

Why can't you listen?
Why can't you hear words from Me?
Why can't you sit and just be...
To listen.
Listen.

Why do you call Me?
Why do you say you're alone?
You wish for Me to appear.
And yet when I'M near.
Your closed ears wont hear Me!

Why do you pray to Me?
Master I Am of your World.
I'M with you there silently.
But you will not see...
Everything that is Me!

One I Am and only One!
Maker of your Moon, Stars and Sun.
All things on Earth that is there...
Is there if you ask,
But your faith does not last!

Why can't you listen?
Why can't you hear words from Me?
Why can't you sit and just be...
To listen.
Listen.

Why do you call Me?
Why do you say you're alone?
You wish for Me to appear.
And yet when I'M near.
Your closed ears wont hear.
A word.

Why can't you listen?
Why can't you hear words from Me?
Why can't you sit and just be...
To listen to Me.
Listen...
And let Me in!

'Father...
Clear my mind of these obstacles! '

I'M trying!
But you wish it 'your' way.
And not the way MY way is.

If You Did Not Know!

If you sit and listen,
To those deranged.
You will leave them believing...
They are innocent of their misfit ways.
And they had nothing to do with,
A way of life that for all has decayed.

With halos adorning upon their heads.
And wings attached from their backs to spread.
If you sit and listen!
If you did not know!

If you thought of them victimized...
In a world they themselves did not bestow,
Their own love to feed and grow...
A decadence!

A decadence only they nurtured.
And allowed themselves to show!
If you sit and listen to them.
And...
If you did not know!

'What is that over there? '

~Oh...
Those are the two million people incarcerated.~

'How did that happen to them? '

~Who knows?
Perhaps that is what they chose.~

A government for the people,
And by the people!
Certain people...
That is.

Some People Listen Some People Don't

You judge me before my words can come out
You can’t even look my way
And you leave me with no doubt
You won’t listen to a word I say
And I will never be heard by you
No matter what it is that I do
Some people listen some people don’t
Some people listen some people won’t

You shut me up before I can speak
You shut me up so you can keep me weak
Now I breaking all your rules
That you have made just for me
To keep me away from my history
From my strength and my dignity
Some people listen some people don’t
Some people listen some people won’t

You don’t know how many times I have prayed
That you would hear the words that I have to say
Now get out of the way
Because we no longer have to stay in this prison of the mind
Because we find you guilty of the ultimate crime
Now get out of the way
So that they can hear what I have to say
And begin to make their plans for escape today

Even though you made me a thug,
It is out of love that I put my message out
Find your voice in school and follow the Golden Rule
And shout it out, with out a doubt
That you will be heard, until you are heard
Right down to the very last word
Some people listen some people don’t
Some people listen some people won’t

Many Muddied Sluggers Live With Something To Prove

Slime backs,
Who are slime backs...
Will slime back.
On backs.

Slime backs,
Who are slime backs...
Will slime back.
On backs.

Many mud sluggers thowing sludge,
Don't think they're slime backs...
Sliming back.

Those mud sluggers throwing sludge,
Don't think they're slime backs...
Sliming back.

Slime backs,
Who are slime backs...
Will slime back.
On backs.

Slime backs,
Who are slime backs...
Will slime back,

Those mud sluggers throwing sludge...
Are slime backs,
Sliming back!

And many muddied sluggers live with something to prove...
Are slime backs,
Sliming back.

Mud sluggers living lives with nothing else to do...
Are slime backs,
Sliming back.

Slime backs,
Who are slime backs...
Will slime back,
On other backs.

Sonnet- The World Today(14)

People with intact eyes, yet appear blind;
Peop1e with alert ears seem not to hear;
People with intact nose, no sme11 can find;
People with every joy appear to tear.

People are cheats and cheat themselves all life;
People tell lies to men and to themselves;
People well-off, appear to be in strife;
People are bad and appear worse than Elves.

The world is bad and so people turn bad;
The world isn’t true and so people are not;
The world is mad and so people turn mad;
The world's a show and people simply plot.

And people waste their time and waste others';
And people aren't true to their own brothers.

The Wall Clock And The Stairs....

all the sad and lonely people
they are all here
gathered,

all the sad and lonely people
they are all here
and i listen, listen all too well

and i ask myself, from where do all these lonely people come from?
and i ask some of them, from where do you come from?

all the lonely and sad people do not answer
they are well dressed, and square and straight and prim and proper

their lips are sealed and their gazes are deep
all the lonely and sad people with their wits on, their wisdom kept

in the silence of their boxes
that thorax, that ax on their backs
no blood at all, no sound, nothing so bad to see

from all these sad and lonely people
who have gathered here

knowing perhaps that we all look the same,
and behave in the same manner

of the wall clock and the stairs.

Turn It Loose

Tom johnston
People all around me
Everywhere I go
I thought I had a grip on things
Now I just dont know
People turn their backs on me
My feet are movin slow
I done time, I been shined
Aint gonna fight no more
Im gonna make it
Im gonna try
Aint no use to sit and cry
Turn it loose; dont hold back
Got to set your spirit free
Turn it loose; listen to me, children
Its the best kind of remedy
Turn it loose; you got the power
Thats the way its got to be
Turn it loose; get on board
Its just for people like you and me
Some friends, they hide it
Keep it deep inside
For the boy its a struggle
Dont you know its a lie
You got to be the real thing
It flows with the tide
You are the person
With the answer inside
Im gonna make it
Im gonna try
Aint no use to hang your head and cry
Turn it loose; dont hold back
Got to set your spirit free
Turn it loose; listen to me, children
Its the best kind of remedy
Turn it loose; you got the power
Thats the way its got to be
Turn it loose; get on board
Its just for people like you and me

Dont Listen/ listen

Don't listen when they tell you that you can't be somebody well known someday
Don't listen
to the stupid remarks people say
Don't listen
when people spread rumors.

Listen
when people give you advise
Listen
when they try to bring you spirit high
Listen
because they always try to help you.

Don't listen
to the people who try to get you high
Don't listen
to the people who lie
Don't listen
to the people who tell you that your ugly.

Listen
to the people who make you smile
Listen
to the people and get to know them for a while
Listen
to the people for you may learn something everyday.

Inner Radio

A girl, in this world
She's all alone, her friends they all turn
their backs at her
Walkin' down her hometown streets
With headphones playin' some oldskool beats
Her baggy pants, crazy hair
She's called a "freak" and thet's not fair
The other day she pierced her nose
But anyway...
Ref:
They don't understand
Thet she prefers it her own way
Different from the rest
Doesn't care what people say
Not dressing to impress
But tryin' to follow her own heart
You listen to its sound
Turn on your inner radio
So go, don't say "no"
To what you feel is right for you
And just like that girl in her world
Is feelin' free and happy
What you got to do is:
Break the rules, don't waste your time
Get a tattoo
And remember that whatever you do
Just be yourself
'Cos anyway...

That's Not Enough

She was a bad thing coming,
But I did not know.
And everytime I came over she told me I had to go.
I said "Hey, what's going on? I really want to know."
She said "I cannot tell you now, but I'll call you tomorrow."
That's not enough.
I want more.
I want it all.
I want to bang on your front door.
Turn off the lights
And shut out the world.
Cause at the end of the day,
Aren't we all just boys and girls?
Yeah
She's snake me with sophisication,
So much class.
She drinks a Santa margarita,
Would you like a glass?
I don't know how to say no
And after three or four,
I was on the floor,
Singing my song,
La la la
No no.
That's not enough.
I want more.
I want it all.
I want to bang on your front door.
Turn off the lights
And shut out the world.
Cause at the end of the day,
Aren't we all just boys and girls?
Yeah...
La la la.
No no.
That's not enough.
I want more.
I want it all.
I want to bang on your front door.
Turn off the lights
And shut out the world.
Cause at the end of the day,
Aren't we all just boys and girls?
Aren't we all just boys and girls?
Aren't we all just boys and girls? (all just boys and girls)
Oh yeah. Oh
Aren't we all just boys and girls?
Aren't we all just boys and girls?
Yeah... oh.

Put Up Or Shut Up

Alright
She's got hurricane eyes
And know what she sees
She's got lovin' thighs
And she gets it for free
She makes a cigarette shake
And don't need no advice
She won't put on the breaks
And you feed her device, yeah
She's gonna tease you up and down now
Gonna play for keeps
I said
Put up
Or shut it up now
Put up
Or shut it up
Yeah
Ha!
She's got hounds on her trail
And they follow her scent
She's the kind of female
That don't need no good sense
(She's wild)
She's got a license to thrill
And she shoots from the hip
Takes her power up well
And your passion is sure to drip
And all so packaged move for speed now
When the feeling climbs
I said
Put up
Or shut it up now
(You gotta, gotta)
Put up
Or shut it up
Yeah
Listen
You want a piece of the action
And I don't want to be cheated, no
Gotta feel the connection
She's turning on her feet, yeah!
Oh, here we go
Comin' to getcha babe
Oh yeah
She's got hurricane eyes
And you know what she sees
She's got love in her thighs
And she gives it away for free
She's gonna tease you up and down now
Gonna play for keeps
You gotta
Put up
Or shut it up now
I said
Put up (Ha!)
Or shut it up (Now)
Why don'tcha
Put up
Or shut it up
Why don'tcha
Put it up
Or shut it up
Why don'tcha
Put up
Or shut it up now
Put it up
Or shut it up now
Woo!

The World Today

People turn their backs and run away
from all the things i want to say
they close their eyes and shut the door
help the rich and kill the poor
you'll see sympathy is hard to find
when everyone around is blind
to the hate and death and tears
to the hardship through the years

only power matters now
and money is the who and how
innocents are dieing in this fight
girls work the corner every night
ghettos out of sight are hid
overflowing with starving kids

young men's dreams are burned to ash
babies die without a past
politics invade our minds
corruption isn't hard to find

This Action Should Strengthen Your Vision!

Now I'm getting your attention.
As if you are allowing your ears to listen.
Your eyes to uncloud from their haze.
With your mouth shocked shut.
And I'm to do 'something' with this focus?

Was it ever mentioned,
Your attention was not on my agenda?
In brief encounters I wanted to extend my hand.
And in doing so you became offended.

In brief encounters I wanted to take a stand,
Against all that I thought...
You too prioritized in your life.
I did not approach you to assist,
In the conflicts you fight.
Igniting them for purposes to mask your insecurities.
I am of peace!
Not about that nonsense you daily release.
As frequently as your choice to use cuss words.
To cuss yourself and others,
With a desire to be overheard!

NOW I'm getting your attention.
As if you are allowing your ears to listen.
Your eyes to uncloud from their haze.
Your mouth shut.
And I'm to do 'something' with this focus?

What do you expect?
A magic wand followed by 'Hocus Pocus? '
A begging on my knees pleading a forgiveness?
While you and the others,
Use that as another joke to provoke?

Look...
Let me help you understand something here!
I'm not seeking to sacrifice my time to charities.
Those donations have been exhausted.

Nor do I intend to give away anything I have,
I myself desperately need.
What I offered to you was a quality of life,
I had to recognize to appreciate the giving of it away.
Something basic to share I hoped would stay with you.

I came to you to extend,
An open-ness that was not judgemental.
Sincere in the giving.
Something you could have shared with someone...
And I would be on my way!
But you decided to turn that into betrayal.
And today you perceive it okay,
That I should welcome your decay?

Now I'm getting your attention.
As if you are allowing your ears to listen.
Your eyes to uncloud from their haze.
With your mouth shocked shut.
And I'm to do 'something' with your focus?
Oh...
And I am too!

Watch me as I distance myself from you.
AND maintain your focus.
This action should strengthen your vision!
If not...
Click your heels three times for clarity.

And...
Do not believe I am embittered.
Or 'sweet'.
I've been mistaken for both too often.

Disguise

memories are sometimes disguised
so that we do not see
all The imperfections that lie in you and me.
The memories that are painful
can sometimes be our strengths
For if we take it by the horns
We can mold it and it will bend.
There are so many people that we meet
Along the way, some we turn our backs on
And some we allow to stay.
People are so defensive that it becomes
Easy to offend.
You say something jokingly, then you lose a friend.
We put our feelings in disguise so that no one
Can see, that we can cry like anyone else
but live in hypocrisy.
The disguises can be many and we
tend to hide our face, but when we look in the mirror
All that we can see, is the pain in our eyes
That brings back those memories.
Memories can be like daggers that stab you in the back
They will build up inside of you and then they double stack.
Let us take off the disguises and face it head on
Once we do that it will all be gone.
Then the memories that lie within ourselves
Will be all of beauty and there it will dwell.

Poet of the People

Cries out good people, listen to my voice
I would hsve you understand, my feelngs
for this land, my deep emotions for
nature's wonders. my melancholy nostalgia
for times gone by

good people of this land, stop a moment
listen to my sighs, and cries,
reveal to you in metaphor, majestic language
those deep down stirrings of the heart
I conjure up for you

lay before your mind and ears
the tragedy of my tears and fears,
paint the passing of the years
alas the poet does not know it
few so very few will pass the time
or spend a dime

For The Love Of Money

Money money money, money
Some people really need it (oh, well)
Some people got to have it (in vain)
Listen here yall, do things, do things, do bad things with it
So you will do things, do things, do good things with it
Talk about cash money, no help at all
For the love of money
People will steal from their mother
For the love of money
People will rob their own brother
For the love of money
People cant even walk the street
Because they never know who in the world they gotta beat
For that lean, mean, mean green
For the love of money
People will lie, lord, they will cheat
For the love of money
People dont care who they hurt or beat
For the love of money
A woman will sell her precious body
For a small piece of paper it carries a lot of weight
Call it lean, mean, mean green
Almighty dollar
I know money is the root of all evil
Do funny things to some people
Give me a nickel, brother can you spare a dime
Money can drive some people out of their minds
Got to have it, I really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Some people really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Got to have it, I really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Lay down, lay down, a woman will lay down
For the love of money
All for the love of money
Dont let, dont let, dont let money rule you
For the love of money
Money can change people sometimes
Dont let, dont let, dont let money fool you
Money can fool people sometimes

Get Out of The House

Shut up!
Sit down...
And listen!
You did what you had to do!
The throne was never meant for you to sit,
Sprewing tantrums and bad habits forever!
Attempting cleverness...
Believing all your fits should be accepted!
There's nothing great about your approach,
And outlook on life!
Your disasterous plan
Has come from the darkened corners to centerstage!
And the only one appearing to be shocked is you!

Shut up!
Sit down...
And listen!
You and your clan,
Ran on self delusion too long!
You've invaded common sense
With senseless ignorance.
And much of that you sold on people's pride!
That 'downhome' approach
Played enough to scatter rats!
Even they got tired of the lies!

Shut up!
Sit down!
You may have seen yourself,
As a cat who was able to deliver the cheese!
But you are a fool.
And that is a fact!
You and the others
Brought a kingdom to its knees!
And that is treason by any name,
For those whose mindsets have not been diseased...
Or drained by your games!

Shut up!
Sit down...
And listen!
The image of your 'vision' is done!
Collect your ego and history shifting myths.
There's a lot that has to be completed!
And anyone who is sane can see,
You have no brains for it!

Shut up!
Sit down...
And listen!
Get out of the house and go fishin'!
