State of Repressive Remission
Values and times change for us all.
Reluctantly.
And perceptions also,
From initial impressions.
Some of our sentiments visited emotionally,
Take on new meaning...
When scenes romanced and remembered,
Have been conditioned to a complete renovation.
Reluctantly.
And our hearts with observation,
Are fixed with an unexpected rejection...
Of a nonacceptance we find difficult to respect.
Yet...
Eventually this is done,
Reluctantly.
And for many a reminiscing continues on.
When scenes romanced and remembered,
Have been conditioned to a complete renovation.
Reluctantly.
And our hearts with observation,
Are fixed with an unexpected rejection...
Of a nonacceptance we find difficult to respect.
Yet...
Eventually this is done,
Reluctantly.
As some make attempts...
To keep the present,
In a state of repressive remission!
Unsuccessfully.

Centred
The silence of the night profound.
Unbroken by the slightest sound.
Envelopes me.
Serenity envelopes me
From earthly worries I am free
Just for a while.
I can enjoy just for a while
a complete change from my life style.
No need to rush.
I am content no need to rush.
Sit quietly amidst the hush.
I still my mind.
Effortlessly I still my mind
and meditate until I find
my inner core.
When I have reached my inner core
I need not struggle any more.
I am at peace.
I realise I am at peace
when all my errant thought trains cease.
I can just be.
I understand I can just be
if only temporarily.
Then I must go.
An hour or two then I must go
back to the noisy world I know.
Reluctantly.
Surrendering reluctantly
the only time that I am free
to be just me.

Does Anyone Wish to Gargle With Mint
Well...
Now that we all are here,
And seem to have eaten...
Reluctantly,
A bit of unsweetened crow.
Let us keep in mind,
We still have heights to climb.
And although it is known,
We all have eaten a bit of crow...
Let's not stop,
Removing other stumbling blocks.
Too much is still there,
To keep out awareness expanding.
Well...
Now that we all are here,
And seem to have eaten...
Reluctantly,
A bit of unsweetened crow.
Does anyone wish to gargle with...
Mint or lime flavored mouthwash?

Reluctantly 2
Sometimes things don’t go as planned
instead they take an opposite turn
and the conclusion is out of your hands.
You say you want to give up something
but others objections are so loud
your decision is reversed
without your protest being heard.
Their agreements are persuasive
that you reverse your decision reluctantly.
This happened to me recently
when I tried to give up my church
the powers that would be
would hear nothing of it
and just wouldn’t let me go.
Instead they purposed a compromise
I accepted reluctantly,
so I guess for a while longer
Dodgy Dave the Vicar I will have to be.

Return to Eilean Mhor for friend mark
Return to Eilean Mhor
My island homeland calls to me from far away across the sea.
She whispers to me quietly but none the less insistently
I left my home reluctantly; there was no future there for me
except a life of poverty. I braved the terrors of the sea
I was still young and fancy free, had no responsibility
The last one of my family no relatives to advise me
No man controls his destiny; it seems that fate had plans for me.
Which would not necessarily allow me time to simply be.
I chose employment carefully, rose through the ranks successfully
and joined the board at forty three.Made president eventually
The time has come it seems to me to retire gracefully
Return to where I long to be. There’s nothing now to prevent me.
My home island still calls to me as she has done consistently.
Since I left her reluctantly I will return permanently.
To wake up every day and see the seagulls soar above the sea
and like the gulls I will be free to live my days out peacefully.
No pressures there to distress me I will have time to simply be.

Alter Ego
The only one,
I will allow to tamper with my happiness...
Is you when that happens.
And at times I do this most reluctantly.
'Well I am glad!
I think.
But even as your alter ego,
I know where my boundaries are.'
That's good to know.
At least we agree I am tolerant.
Now remove yourself from my ear,
I am busy.

Surreal scenes of beauty lie
silently beneath the sky
You find them unexpectedly.
If you are lucky you will see.
Scenes seldom seen by human eyes
A veritable paradise
.
Which nature has successfully
managed to keep completely free.
From outside interference.
Secrecy her best defence..
Now you have glimpsed this paradise.
You will forget if you are wise.
Where you have been what you have seen.
You know too well what it would mean.
If it should become well known.
Instead of leaving it alone.
Some businessman would surely buy.
In search of profit he would try.
To sell it off as building lots.
A common fate of beauty spots.
What can you say to convince me
You will maintain the secrecy.
If you cannot then you must die
and with the other strangers lie.
I will kill you reluctantly
to maintain the security.
Of this secluded beauty spot
Have I the right or do I not?

Dishabille Disarray
They don't get it!
He is their last chance,
To regain some measure of respect.
And those around the world who adore him...
Know of his challenges.
And wish him the very best.
Although what he wishes,
Some folks wish to dismiss.
Without comprehending,
The mess he desires to fix.
And all who live with conflicts fantasize...
Have not a clue,
How close they are...
To complete calamity bordering on demise.
They don't get it!
He is their last chance.
Petty has been their way of life.
Entertained by delusion.
And deceit romanced.
With rose colored glasses...
Worn on cloudy drugged up eyes.
They don't get it!
They...
Not he,
Are the ones despised.
And he is the one that seeks compromise.
He,
Not 'they'...
Has been the one chosen!
To make some sense,
Out of their dishabille disarray.
'Are you talking about our mode of dress, style...
The lack of it?
Or the impression of a leader's appearance?
Or our fading comprehension of what it takes,
To make and sustain greatness? '
All of it needs an uplifted innovative renovation!

Foregone Conclusion. For M'selle Perrault
My muse like any woman will
use her feminine wiles and skill
To persuade me to her view
and will persist until I do
Exactly as she wants me to.
I’m well aware that she will win.
Should I surrender just give in?
I must defend my self respect
it is the least she will expect
So I protest to no effect.
When my muse makes up her mind.
Like any poet I will find.
I have no choice but to obey
and there is nothing I can say.
She will reject each argument.
That I can muster and present
Although it’s futile to resist.
My fragile ego will insist
I have no option but persist
to register my discontent.
Though this does not deter my muse.
She knows full well I can’t refuse.
She knows from my past history.
I will submit reluctantly
She always wins eventually
She knows I must put on a show
to satisfy my male ego.
She is prepared to wait until
I do obey her sovereign will.
She makes that clearly evident.
I cannot win I’m bound to lose
When I argue with my muse.
She’s confident she will prevail.
After all I’m only a male
Somewhat naïve and innocent.
She knows I am a gentleman
that’s why she’s certain that she can.
Persuade coerce or bully me
Until give in and agree.
My muse will brook no argument.

Love has a way
of getting you to do things
you don’t want to do.
It persuades you
that it is the right thing.
To save arguments
you reluctantly do it,
as it happens to be family.

Rehearsing Cursing Themselves
This is not a tactic,
I would normally recommend.
However...
It does seem to work.
It has for me!
To add validity to what it is that one does...
And it is declared something one loves to do,
But there are naysayers who enjoy disproving...
One's intent.
With laughter and backstabbings meant.
Prove them wrong.
Do what is done in public view.
Put your heart into it.
Success eventually comes.
As long as you are focused,
And love what it is you do.
With a getting done of it.
Much to the lament,
Of those who had made negative comments.
There is nothing like witnessing,
Open mouths reluctantly close!
And seeing this as others observe as well.
There is nothing like it.
Have you ever heard,
Someone rehearsing...
Cursing themselves?
I have.
And...
I wanted to assist them so bad.
Especially in the tone and elocution,
Of the presentation.
I would have suggested more bite.
To make what is done more believable!

It Had to Come to Us This Way
It had to come to us this way.
Unexpected love.
It had to find us unprepared.
Unexpected love.
We did not know it had us picked.
When unexpected love,
Came to visit.
It had to come to us this way.
Unexpected love.
It had to find us unprepared.
Willing to accept,
How it crept upon us.
When all we felt was tried.
Staring in clear skies,
Sometimes for that 'one'.
That someone special to us to come.
And when it is done...
We become stunned.
It is familiar.
As if it begins where it 'had' begun!
It had to come to us this way.
Unexpected love.
Expecting it returned.
As it is to feed what is yearned.
Connecting two hearts burning!
When all we felt was tried,
Unexpected love...
Comes out of hiding!
It had to come to us this way.
If it had not...
We would find reasons,
To chase it away!
And that is why,
It had to come to us
This way...
Finding us in a receptive display,
And giving without thought to run.
Hoping love like this did come,
To stay!
It had to come to us this way,
Unexpected love...
Seldom drifts or fades!

Fantasized Out Of Reason
The proof is in the evidence.
Accusations end...
When one's lips have been sealed,
To reveal fingerprints.
And only then are confessions,
Reluctantly made.
And when this happens,
A seeking of forgiveness seems shallow.
The act of it expresses one's narrow mind.
With attempts to define the crime,
As not as serious...
If the act itself is admitted!
These folks have been watching,
Too much TV and fantasized out of reason.
Admitting anything makes the act of it okay.
And the logic in their minds has been betrayed.

What I'm saying here is not, I agree, poetry, as poems should be written rarely and reluctantly, under unbearable duress and only with the hope that good spirits, not evil ones, choose us for their instrument.

Forbidden for JT Ellison
I sometimes wonder when you die.
Are you aware that you are dead?
And do you know the reason why
And can you see the way ahead.
Or are you frightened and alone
And do not know what you should do
When you are faced with the unknown.
Does someone come to comfort you?
Some sort of spirit rescue team
who are prepared and on stand by.
Who will explain this is no dream.
A different reality.
Your body died but you live on
Immortal spirits cannot die.
Although you’re sad and woebegone,
you must accept reluctantly.
You can’t go back; impossible.
You must move on to the next stage.
Although it’s highly probable
you will refuse to in your rage.
You were not ready yet to die
and miss all that you left behind.
You cannot see a reason why
fate should choose you. That you can find.
Eventually you realise
this is your new reality.
Death comes to all as a surprise
because that’s how it is meant to be.
All people know that they must die
but may not know the where or when
Though we may ask, there’s no reply.
Some knowledge is forbidden men.

I do not KNOW but I suspect.
The world is not as we accept.
Reality is mutable,
we tend to see what we expect.
Although it seems impossible
I think it highly probable.
We do not really understand
what is and is not possible.
Although we try to make a stand.
The future we cannot command
We must allow for sudden change,
when fate decides to take a hand.
Then we must quickly rearrange
although in fact we find it strange.
The way we see reality
however limited our range.
We must admit reluctantly
that times are changing rapidly
Perhaps much faster than we think
as we approach maturity.
We may be standing on the brink
of abysses as black as ink
The end of all humanity.
Be jettisoned to downward sink.
Because we would not learn to see
That all men should live peaceably.
Another failed experiment
which must be erased completely
