Smoked Screened Personas
Pitiful.
Most of them have lost their way.
Within smoked screened personas.
All of them are given nicknames.
Branded upon them...
From their earliest birth days!
And the ones that are given,
Don't offend them at all.
Until they realize...
'Poo Poo' and 'Mookie'
Aren't what they wish to be called!
Their minds haven't graduated,
From elementary school!
Most of them stalled on urban street corners...
Perfecting the fools they were!
And to drool together in clique pools.
Dysfunctions intented and excused by ignorance.
And quite an appetizer too...
For the local newspapers, TV shows,
And other marketing nonsense!
And this is exposed to inspire the young?
To remain detached,
And to keep statistics of this numbing 'some'?
'Yo, mama...
Wassup? '
~Young man,
You will not address me that way!
Not in this 3rd grade class.
Now take your feet off the desk!
And sit up straight fast! ~
'Go f-k yo'self! B-t-h! '
We've taught them how to fill in these blanks...
On their own!
Haven't we?
Pitiful!
And now far to 'priceless'
To correct!
This dismissed 'cuteness'!

Pitiful
as I recall when my stomach turned
and I was hiding away from myself
away from you
like nothing but something was terribly wrong
and I admit that I was only waiting for the right time (right time)
right moment for you to look away
though you never did I pretended for a while
so I could walk where I don't belong
I remember every word you said
come back in time come back
and I remember I was too beaten
pitiful so pitiful
but I know as they hammered those nails
into your beautiful hands
your eyes they tried to search for mine
but I look away
now your eyes are the only thing that can save me
I'm still afraid of them piercin'
you break into my prison
just pretended for a while
my soul is sad and I walk away
I remember every word you said
come back in time come back
and I remember I was too beaten
pitiful so pitiful
pitiful
pitiful
pitiful
pitiful
so pitiful
and I remember every word you said
but this time I won't look away
and I remember every word you said
and this time I won't look away
and I remember every word you said
come back in time come back
and I remember I was so beaten
pitiful so pitiful
and I remember every word you said (pitiful)
come back in time come back (pitiful)
and I remember I was too beaten (pitiful)

Nonconformist
Of course I've been driven to madness.
Haven't you?
It's chic.
It's so 'with it' today,
To express some form of insanity.
Butt cracks are being exposed.
Breasts implants are nearly being sold,
At fast food chains.
The police are smoking more weed,
Than I've ever done in the '70's.
And corruption?
Children are selling electronic devices...
In elementary schools!
Yes.
And at good prices too I might add!
I passed an elementary school the other day,
And this kid, no more than twelve years old...
Was using two cell phones! Two!
And I can not afford one!
Of course I've been driven to madness.
Haven't you?
People crying on TV 'after' being caught
Killing children and spouses.
The news being interrupted by commercials,
Pitching everything from condoms, underwear...
And sexual enhancements!
Age defying creams and weight reducers.
And divorced lawyers pitching their services...
As if they were selling used cars.
And...
I guess,
In a way they are!
Of course I've been driven to madness.
Haven't you?
It's chic.
It's so 'with it' today,
To express some form of insanity.
However...
When I get home,
I take off that mask.
Get a cool glass of tea!
Sit back...
And enjoy my peace of mind!
'THAT' I am going to protect.
If I have to be in disguise outside to keep it!
I don't want anyone to think,
I am a nonconformist!

Manged Dog
This mangy dog
This dog with mange
Pitiful pitiful sight
The mut with dogged ears
Why o' dog
Does your tail drag
you wretched thing
your eyes build up crust
On the outside corners
your eyes carve paths
Of ceasless tears
you beg for food
you deserve none
Pethetic dog die
Dog away from me...
i am a dog worthy
of death but
Insteadt i beg for food
Foe my master
Is dying on his
Death bed he has only
i to give him food
For days i have panted
For pity i pray
My master have food
i pray he dies not
For days i have cried
By these corners
While my poor
Master dies

What Can One Do Or Say That Doesn't Offend?
Living in an environment,
Where there are disrespectful children...
Being raised by adults stuck in their minds,
That growing up sucks...
Is an added pressure for those who are mature enough,
To throw their hands up...
And walk away!
What can one do or say that doesn't offend?
An influence to include a responsibility that is done...
And shown,
Gets a look of disdain from those choosing to remain...
Hip-hoppers who wish to rap for the rest of their lives.
Try talking to people like this about being accountable.
Go ahead,
I dare you.
They will cuss you out quicker than they will,
The teachers entrusted to babysit their children.
And not necessarily the elementary school aged children.
Those who are confronted in high school!
Running up and down the hallway...
And acting like school is for fools!
Attempting to teach 'these' children 'before' they head to prison,
Is 'not' impossible.
But the likelihood of it becoming a priority,
And seen as an investment to protect one's future is zero!
And there is nowhere to go,
To gain support.
Since people stagnated like this don't know it...
But they are creating their own demise.
And it becomes a sad commentary to make.
So is truth hard to take when face to face.
And when the weekends come...
the only thing that seems to get productively done,
Is a showing of how a detached people...
Can 'still' get down and funky.

I Haven't Forgotten
I haven't forgotten when I meet you first!
I haven't forgotten when I greet you last!
I haven't forgotten your pretty face!
I haven't forgotten your smile and grace!
I haven't forgotten how we started chatting!
I haven't forgotten when we started dating!
I haven't forgotten our last walk together!
I haven't forgotten how I became a loser!
I haven't forgotten how it became too late!
I haven't forgotten when I understood fate!
I haven't forgotten that summer's northwester!
I haven't forgotten and won't forget ever!

Insight
Young and so naïve.
Born to grow up,
On urban desperate streets.
No renovation done,
Can remove
What these young ones
Are led to believe.
The only future they have
Is what an ignorance
That comes to them
Leaves.
Young and so naïve.
Adding to the blight...
With no insight that excites
And attempts to lift them,
Up and away from this mire...
Higher.
Suppressors who conspire,
To further deplete them of hope!
They are not taught to keep!

An Empathy For Fools
These days are moving along too fast,
For anyone to begrudge...
A doing not done in those times in their past.
Nothing wished to relive is going to return.
And what it was one should have learned,
Had been an opportunity...
To sit through those lessons.
With less of a stubbornness that now affects,
The ones expressing concerned with much regret.
These days are moving along too fast,
For anyone to begrudge...
A doing not done in those times in their past.
And those dismissed for being overly ambitious,
For being a jack of all trades and not masters of one...
Are no longer considered fools.
With a proving they can do many things to get done.
'You are just who we've been looking for.
Someone who has been exposed...
And can adapt with the wearing of many hats.'
~I was once told I could have been a president of a bank.~
'I used to be into titles too.
Aren't you glad you healed from such foolishness? '
~I was never into titles.
But I must confess to having an empathy for fools.~
'Good for you.
At least one of us is patient.
I like your style.
You are hired.
I hope you stay with us for a while.'

Direct Correcting
I hate to offend one's ignorance.
I know too well,
The damage this can cause.
I too have been a victim,
Of my own stubbornness.
With beliefs I once,
Knew it all.
I hate to offend one's ignorance.
I know too well,
The damage this can cause.
To obtain experience,
And gain a knowledge that transcends...
Where an 'awareness' accepted,
Once had been.
Rarely opens all minds at the same time.
I too have been a victim,
Of my own stubbornness.
With beliefs I once,
Knew it all.
With a defense mechanism,
That stalled like a wall...
The coming in of a comprehension.
I hate to offend one's ignorance.
I know too well,
The damage this can cause.
But every now and then,
I can not just sit and pretend...
I am accepting of anyone's delivery to receive,
From them...
A blinding disrespect without my direct correcting.

I'm Gonna Move Right In
Well she's straight and look like a lot of fun
The bar's open I'm gonna go have a drink with everyone
Walking downtown skies can't get any greater
Haven't got no money and I haven't got a prayer
I'm gonna move right in (x3)
After we hang a little we're gonna have a little fun
Gonna go shoot and kill and go knife everyone
The bar looks like haven gonna have myself a drink
Hey man don't you know I fell right in to the swing
I'm Gonna move right in (x3) Yeah
Gonna go uptown so I can get myself straight
Gonna go see my mama see if I got myself a date
Time is runnin' out I'm comin' right down to the wire
Gotta go do something to get myself higher
I'm gonna move right in (x3) Hey

If There Is Something
(ferry)
If there is something that I might find
Look around corners
Try to find peace of mind I say
Where would you go if you were me
Try to keep a straight course not easy
Somebody special looking at me
A certain reaction we find
What should it try to be I mean
If there are many
Meaning the same
Be specific just a game
I would do anything for you
I would climb mountains
I would swim all the oceans blue
I would walk a thousand miles
Reveal my secrets
More than enough for me to share
I would put roses round our door
Sit in the garden
Growing potatoes by the score
Shake your hair girl with your ponytail
Takes me right back (when you were young)
Throw your precious gifts into the air
Watch them fall down (when you were young)
Lift up your feet and put them on the ground
You used to walk upon (when you were young)
Lift up your feet and put them on the ground
The hills were higher (when we were young)
Lift up your feet and put them on the ground
The trees were taller (when you were young)
Lift up your feet and put them on the ground
The grass was greener (when you were young)
Lift up your feet and put them on the ground
You used to walk upon (when you were young)

I Really Haven't Got The Time
(Mike Pinder)
You want me to ride
In your car outside
Spend some time with you
Just an hour or two
But I really,
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
I'm a busy man
Workin' when I can
I got no time to lend
I got no time, time to spend
Oh no, I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
Oh no, I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
(Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!)
Instrumental
I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
Oh no, I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
Workin' nine 'til five
Got to stay alive (I've got to stay alive)
Find somebody who (Go find somebody who)
Got some time for you (Who's got the time for you)
But I really
No, no, no, no
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
Oh no, I really
No, no, no, no
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
Really haven't got the time
(Really haven't got time)

Unique and Cartoonish
She said 'things' I write about did not exist!
As if she knew my experiences...
And the affects they played on my mind!
Of course I've learned to have patience
With such ignorance.
I identified that immediately on my journey...
And was prepared to respond.
Moving on and feeling blessed...
I am no longer disturbed in rest,
Or protest misunderstandings!
Yet I do know how to remove nonsense
Off my path fast!
There is something about clarity I've learned to enjoy!
And he say-she say-they say mindless crap,
Has graduated my insight with a peace of mind I like!
I grew up with folks disputing truths
Reduced to gossiped innuendos!
Perhaps that is why my writings aren't believed,
As actual occurrences.
The dysfunctions are too unique and cartoonish in application!
However...
My impressions,
Sometimes suppressed by depressions!
And inflicted aggrevation from apartheid oppression...
Still existing in disguise as diversity wishes.
Were not created by Disney and a crew of animators!
Although I admit...
I became quite amused by the busloads of tourists!
And folks still think all that's needed in areas of my birth
Is a few peanuts to exist as they take snapshots...
To prove their 'liberal' sensibilities!

Once Strangers
We were once strangers
Strangers that went to school together
Which lead to a class together
It was nothing special at first
I brought winterfresh gum for you everyday
It use to be your favorite gm
Last period use to be my favorite time
Especially on Tuesday's
You always had a new story
A story that was about your life
Everyday you where there nothing bad could happen
Soon school ended and you went to Waterbury
Once in awhile you would come back to Torrington
However I still called you everyday
10th grade came by and you weren't there
Had to go through 10th and 11th be myself
You came back for 12th grade
I was the happiest person in the world
I had my best friend back
Now you've graduated and moving on
I however went backwards
Didn't listen to what you would say
Now I have to watch you go off to college
I couldn't be happier for you
I wish you the best of luck
I know you will go far.

I saw young men, boys just out of school (Villanelle)
I saw young men, boys just out of school,
working men with university degrees
far too clever to be any anyone’s fool
being called up for war, being tossed into its whirlpool
set on fire and burning like a bunch of trees.
I saw young men, boys just out of school,
who over war did not drool
but hated every moment of it, men with great qualities
far too clever to be anyone’s fool
who’s lives were threaded out like from a spool,
treated like mere sediment, dregs, refuse, like lees.
I saw young men, boys just out of school,
in places flaming hot, icy cold wearing jerseys of wool,
praying, standing in the wilderness on their knees
far too clever to be any anyone’s fool
with pierced bodies draining in bloody pool after bloody pool
becoming the sons of Cain, the devils own employees
and I saw young men, boys just out of school,
far too clever to be any anyone’s fool.

The Million-Pound-Semi-Detached (Demo Recording)
Haven't we come a long way
From newly-weds in our bed-sitter flat?
We skimped and scraped every penny
For a down payment on our semi-detached.
New towns for all the young hopefuls,
A garden suburb with mortgage attached,
Oh, look at us now, sale all agreed, now it's time to exchange the contracts
With the people who sold us a million-pound semi.
Straight out of national service,
Demob suits and short back and sides,
And saw the bomb sites turned air-raid shelters,
Where their families lived all of their lives.
Then the nation built them a utopia,
With pebbledash on the outside, oh,
Look at them now, they've come a long way, they are affluent and bursting with pride.
Soon we'll be sitting inside that million-pound semi-detached,
Detached, in our million-pound semi-detached.
Looking back at the past of this million-pound semi.
Two up two down, a back garden, that was the dream,
Two kids, a cat and a dog, that was the scheme.
Then the kids both grew up and got married and moved out of home,
Then we were strangers again, together alone.
Look at us now, what are we like,
Sitting alone in our million-pound semi-detached?
They're all taking early retirement, the sum total of all of their lives.
Now the country is fat with inflation, immigration has helped us survive.
Once an Englishman's home was his castle,
Now it's a freehold investment to buy, oh,
Look at us now, our debts are all paid, and the Empire has really struck back.
We're the proud owners of a one-million-pound semi-detached,
So detached in our million-pound semi-detached.
A new generation is buying and starting anew,
And learning by all their mistakes the way people do.
Like all the young hopefuls we're buying the future from you,
We hope that one day we'll understand what you've both been through.
Look at us now, what are we like,
Sitting alone, in our million-pound semi-detached?
Look at us now, what are we like,
Sitting alone, in our million-pound semi-detached?

The Street Only Knew Your Name
Your street, rich street or poor
You should always be sure of your street
There's a place in your heart,
When you know from the start
And you can't be complete without a street
Keep movin' on, just like a train
Sometimes you gotta look back to the street again
Would you prefer all those castles in spain
Or a view of the street from your window pane
When you were young, so young
So very very young
When you were young, so young
So very very young
And the street only knew your name
And the street only knew your name
And the street only knew your name, oh your precious name, precious name
There was walter and joy, kate and roy
All hung around the corner lamplight
Get together sing some songs
Like boppin' the blues - you make me feel alright
That was long before fortune and fame
No such thing as a star when you've played that game
Everyone knew who everyone was
There was no preference in the street no, no
When you were young, so young
So very very young
When you were young, so young
So very very young
And the street only knew your name
And the street only knew your name
And the street only knew your name, oh your precious name
And you walked around in the heart of town
Listening for that sound
And you walk around in the heart of town
Listening for that sound
Blue suede shoes, it was the blue suede shoes
When you were young, so young
So very very young
When you were young, so young
So very very young
And the street only knew your name
And the street only knew your name
And the street only knew your name
And the street only knew your name

1st Crush
We first met in 6th grade
Living two house down.
My first crush, my first trust
Beautiful eyes, a sassy smile
Gorgeous slender body, to any man drool
Your charm and wit fit you well
The dreams never came real
The words i could not say, will be lost in time
40 years later I drool for you
I still can't speak and the tongue is tied
Your still as beautiful as you were young
The wit and charm aged well in time
My first crush still around
How my words for you were lost in time

The Flashback Of My Primary School Days!
When we saw the stick-bearing teacher
at the far end of the long street of our village,
we would run like deers scared by tigers
and jump down and lie in a manger.
But the eighth class passed owlish teacher
would come straight and lift us up
pulling our shirts, as we do a mouse by its tail.
One slap on the cheek was enough
to flap our wings to school.
With rancid groundnut oil dripping down
from our heads, we would go to school,
cleaned already by us before the dawn.
Our school was a safe haven for the teachers,
as the inspectors could visit
either by walking four kilometers
or by a jeep driving forty kilometers.
At interval, we would jump into a nearby well,
swim, sink down and come up with some soil,
in our folded palms, and hurry up to school,
when the teacher waved his stick,
standing on the top of the well and looking down.
A nice smile tip-toes on my lips recalling those mirthful days.

A School Is So Not Cool
School Is Not So Cool
School, School, School,
A school is not cool
We're here 5 days a week
8 hours a day.
School, School, School,
A school is not cool.
People laugh when we fall
we just have to make a call.
School, School, School
A school is not cool.
We have to work hard to get good grades
I'm not going to do it no more
I do it every day.
We can’t go on the grass
We can’t bother another class
We can’t save spots at lunch
We have to go as a bunch.
We have 3 minutes in the hall
I'm always late what a ball.
We have to pay attention
if not we get detention.
School, School, School,
A school is not cool.
They have too many rules
they play us as fools
if we get A's
the parents jump Hip Hip Hooray.
If we get F's
we tell them we need to take a rest.
We always have homework
we never have class work
they have to many rules
they need to take it cool.
School, School, School,
A school is so not cool!

School and teachers
You go to school
everyday
just to be told
you can't do it that way
you have to do it my way
it is in the rules
and you think
school isn't cool
teachers think they're all that
and that they can control us
but sometimes I wish my teachers
would get hit by a bus
I know that sounds mean
but I haven't even said
that school everyday
I always dread
It feels like a prison
with no escape
why oh why
am I bound to this fate?
Of course we have to go to school
we have to all week
but couldn't school be more fun
instead of really starting to reek!
But we have to go through it
all 12 grades
and we have to go to college
what a bad day!
The days drag on
they never end
until the bells rings
and I run as fast as I can
It's almost christmas break
and I can't wait
because more days at school
I just can't take.
School sucks
and I think it is bad
and even though we are tortured
it isn't all bad
I guess what i'm trying to say is
school can sometimes be good
and you learn stuff
and that's is sorta good
so school is boring
and is not really fun
but we will get through it
and then for joy we will jump
